For Lupin III, it looks like the money bags are all lined up along the top of the stage, and the dotted-line ones you were trying to grab are probably just indicators for where you're supposed to drop them.
That was my first impression and that is correct having checked it. I think the player score indicators led Joe to believe all the action took place below rather than being part of the play field, and I can understand that confusion, especially when sampling all the games. I have a feeling he still wouldn't have liked it much more, but at least we know that's how the game works.
@@dragonchaserkev Yeah, there are a ton of classic games that get very unfairly dismissed because the majority of players simply don't "get" them, indeed. I'm not saying Lupin III here is one such game -- it honestly looks to be a fairly run-of-the-mill maze game at best, so as Ravagingwolverine said, I rather doubt Joe would've liked it much better even if he HAD figured out how to play it -- but I've played a ton of classic-era games that I'm SO GLAD I took the time to learn properly. It's INCREDIBLY strategic, INCREDIBLY tense, and INCREDIBLY addictive. It's honestly kind of bonkers just how sophisticated a stealth game it is, considering it was made in 1984. I would've probably just dismissed it as a fairly boring predecessor to The Legend of Zelda, and moved on to something else. And OH MAN would I ever have been missing out if I'd done that.
He understood that, that's why he said "try to get the money bags" and did not say "a game where you try to get dotted outlines." What he didn't understand was how to get the money bags, as they are all the way at the top of the screen. In an area where there were no platforms to climb, to reach them.
@@godchi1dvonsteuben770 Er... Not sure if joking. ;) He did NOT understand that, as evidenced by his own reply to this very comment thread. And there's no climbing platforms in that game -- it's a maze game, meaning it's overhead-view and you can move in all four directions.

Jungle Hunt itself is just a reworking of Jungle King, which could've gotten Taito sued by the Johnny Weismuller estate due to his trademark Tarzan yell to start the game off. So they removed the yell, gave the sprite a reworking into an older man, and off Jungle Hunt went. Still seems odd that he still saves a young girl at the end from cannibals, and kisses him and tells him she loves him after she is saved.

I got one of these from Amazon Japan, and also had an issue with the spinner. I noticed there was a rattle in the controller so I opened it up (six screws under the rubber feet) and sure enough a tiny white plastic washer was loose in there. I actually dismantled the entire spinner assembly as while it span and had resistance, it occasionally got stuck. I put the washer in the place I *think* it should go and it did improve it. Depending on how tight you screw the three screws that fix the assembly to the underside of the control panel, seems to affect the resistance of the spinner. Right now I’ve probably got it slightly too tight, so will need more adjustment. It’s definitely a bit of a faff, but it works.

Hatrick can be used in hockey and football when a player scores 3 goals. Im sure you wondered where the term hat trick came from? It came from cricket when a bowler took 3 wickets from 3 consecutive balls and after the game the club would give the player a hat to celebrate this achievement.5 inches is not huge no matter what she said
Bonjour Game Sack ! Certainly one of the best mini consoles on the market ! The screen, the selection of games, the controllers, everything is incredible ! Long live Taito, long live the arcade and long live ..........Game Sack !!! ;)
the rotating screen is actually a feature of the Egret candy cabs in Japan, so it makes a lot of sense that they'd include it here (though I don't think the actual cabs do it the same way) Also i have to know, is Tatsujin good enough to play it without owning the box? Do they ever explain what was in the cargo barge?
Elevator action returns is one of my favourites on the Saturn wich I only own for less than two years. Congrats for the person which was responsible for the Tait mode feature
You know, when all the mini consoles first started coming out, I was intrigued, but over time I've really soured on them. These ought to be compilation discs/carts on PS4/Switch/etc, and they could still offer special controllers. Most of these games, in fact, were released on compilations on PS2 and Xbox nearly 20 years ago. In the meantime, Taito is releasing a 10 game garbage compilation on Switch with only very early releases that all together don't come even close to a gigabyte at full retail. I'd spend $40 for a compilation disc with all of these, even though I own pretty much all of them in one form or another. I'd even pony up for the trackball/spinner controller. I'm not in for another mini, though. That said, great review!
@@TebbieBear Thats why I am a big fan of the Evercade. Instead of needing to buy a while new plug-n-play unit, you can just buy decent little collections to expand your library. The hardware isnt perfect, but its a good concept. Technically, this unit could also add more games via its card slot, but I kind of doubt they will.
The two things for me that push me away: 1) Games. I would realistically only want to play 10-15 games. A lot of them I'd play once for a little bit and then never again. 2) The price. For a mini console, it's REALLY expensive. Don't get me wrong, it looks really well built and that rotating screen is a nice thing to have, but when you're shelling out $200+ (not including any of the controllers or accessories), that's a hard pill to swallow , especially since I know I'd only play a handful of games included.
Yeah, most of the games on this "device" just don't interest me and would probably never be played. For the price, I'd rather buy a Nintendo Switch Lite, hack it to play these games, lmao I bought the Neo Geo mini for $65 (2 years ago) and it has better games. Has inflation really gone this out of control?
New Zealand Story is up there with Rainbow Islands as "games that absolutely went off when they came to European computers". We absolutely LOVED them over here. I always liked how cute the game was. There's some weird feature where if you lose your last life in a specific way, you don't get a Game Over. Instead you're taken to Heaven where you will either get a bad ending where the main character dies or you'll be able to find a hidden exit to take you back to the main game. This is the only arcade game I can think of that sort of gives you a free continue.
Dude. Hell of a call out on Arnold Palmer Tournament Golf. Just have the manual nearby for referencing your club distances because that pigeon of a caddy knows nothing. Genesis top 10 for single song soundtrack and wind intensity. I play it stretched in tah-tey mode for hours on end. Never gets old.
eh..... there's actually only 2 machines that are at all like this. Sega Astro City mini and Taito Egret 2 mini. SNK is barely comparable, and other mini consoles are totally different.
A hat trick happens quite frequently in hockey but sometimes in FOOTBALL as well. I think it is when a player pulls a bunny from his hat. It's a real crowd pleaser.
@GameSack I’m pretty sure you sound problems is your AC power adapter. Make sure it’s a 5V 2.4A. Many reports on lag, sound, etc, is from the lack of power
Recently bought a Darksoft Card for the Taito F3 motherboard. If you have the F3 and a cab or supergun, it's a great piece of tech. It has an SD slot and is like an Everdrive for the system. The F3 lineup is really robust and includes some of the best games in this vid like Elevator Action Returns.
This is cool. That changeable screen from normal to tate mode is sick. However, that price point and the amount of games I'm interested in don't mesh well. Maybe I'll consider picking this up if it goes on sale. Thanks for covering this. I didn't even know about it until I watched this video.
The rotating screen idea is great. Darius Gaiden, Rastan, Rayforce, Truxton and Twin Cobra by default are nice. Outzone and Truxton 2 would have sealed the deal for me.
I don't care what people say,i sold most of my Retro stuff for a lot of money, and now I have a SNES, NES, Mega Drive and a coregrafx mini. And lot of classic games for my switch. Makes life much more easier. Great video as always, greetings from Germany
For those asking about the trackball/spinner in Mane, I’ve read it’s recognised as a mouse of some description. Think the trackball is the mouse, the spinner is the scroll wheel and the buttons are mapped to a really high button count (late 20’s/30) which isn’t recognised by Mame. So currently you can use the trackball and spinner, but the buttons do nothing.
I was super curious to what the Lupin III game was going to be when the title showed up towards the beginning of the video, but unfortunately it's just a super early 80s game without much to do with the series... I really wish they'd make some sort of amazing stealth adventure game based on the franchise nowadays now that the technology is there to really make something like the show.
Still historcally interesting game to include as it was the first licensed game to be released and developed in Japan and also the second licensed game globally.
that TATE MODE gag is GOLDEN hahaha still laughing soo hard even seeing it multiple times. Good stuff, every time you guys upload a video its the highlight of my stressful day.
The Fairyland Story is worth trying. It was on the old Taito Legends 2 compilation which is where I tried it and it surprised me with how fun it was. It won't be for everyone, but it can be a good time. As I recall, you want to push the cakes off ledges on top of other enemies. I also recall that up + jump gives a bit of extra height which is necessary in later stages. Good to see Rastan on there. I remember playing the arcade game when I was very young and I had the Master System version when it was new. I also just recently played that. With Truxton, I'll stick with the home ports which are hard enough even on easy, but I can at least stand a chance. The red weapon is so weak in the arcade version. But nice to see that the game is included here.

Tate Mode was the biggest surprise and reaction. I love this. So. Much.
It's a quality little system
Slopes turn
Tell us about your Kaiser Knuckle, you dawg 😏
HI SLOPES
Yeah unlike your little vapor ware Amico system
@@JohnnyMatherson Under rated comment !
Dan are you going to call out the Amico for the ponzi scheme that it always was?
ELEVATOR ACTION

looks absolutely amazing, I was instantly blown away. Gotta try it!
TATE MODE!!!!!! is actually really cool
Might need to open up the trackball controller. My egret 2 mini came with the ribbon cable to the buttons disconnected. Easy fix, but pissed I had to rip off the rubber feet off on my brand new product.
Yea, these are the things that really show how 3rd world we are, 😆 at least you healthy and breathing, and eating cheer up , you at least knew how to fix it
Would you say Truxton is classic enough to belong in a Classic Game Room?
RIP 😞
@Wiegraf if only people wouldn’t get triggered over someone not wanting to do the same shit over and over.
@@Rountree1985 Not even close to the reality of the situation but ok.
@Wiegraf I was a big fan of classic game room then forgot about it over the years. So what exactly happened?
@Wiegraf whatever
My god, Joe! Your sense of humor is fantastic! Thank you so much for your videos!
It baffles me how your subs numbers aren't higher given the quality and passion You put in the contents. As Always great job (except the tate pronunciation that still triggers me!)
Awesome, awesome video! I’ve been looking at it to get Twin Cobra and Elevator Action. The TATE mode support is insane! Great video!
Hatrick can be used in hockey and football when a player scores 3 goals. Im sure you wondered where the term hat trick came from? It came from cricket when a bowler took 3 wickets from 3 consecutive balls and after the game the club would give the player a hat to celebrate this achievement.5 inches is not huge no matter what she said
Its not the size of the boat its the motion of the ocean damn it.
Hat trick in Brazil is when you pass the ball above someone's head. Soccer, of course.
Cricket always sounds like its being made up on the fly when its being talked about.
In Hockey after a player scores 3 goals the fans all throw their hats on the ice
@@JBird401 Yea i know
You're a machine, Joe, going back to weekly uploads and without any loss in quality. Thanks for all your hard work!
Not weekly uploads in the normal sense considering the standard episodes are still every 2 weeks, but still awesome
Yaaaay!!! Game Sack!!! kick ASSS!
Bonjour Game Sack !
Certainly one of the best mini consoles on the market ! The screen, the selection of games, the controllers, everything is incredible ! Long live Taito, long live the arcade and long live ..........Game Sack !!! ;)
the rotating screen is actually a feature of the Egret candy cabs in Japan, so it makes a lot of sense that they'd include it here (though I don't think the actual cabs do it the same way)
Also i have to know, is Tatsujin good enough to play it without owning the box? Do they ever explain what was in the cargo barge?
Egret, also a passcode in Rebel Assault.
Or just sell people the ROM files directly, which people asked Taito to do 25 years ago.
This is indeed what I would like as well.
I would totally buy a pair of Evercade carts with these games on them.
I don't like these games enough to play them on switch. Give me a cool piece of electronic novelty and I'm all in.
this makes me really want to play On the Ball with the paddle. it must be a new experience with that control.
The two things for me that push me away:
1) Games.
For the price, I'd rather buy a Nintendo Switch Lite, hack it to play these games, lmao
I bought the Neo Geo mini for $65 (2 years ago) and it has better games.
5:35 ANY device that works "when IT wants to" is not a good device at all.
All these mini consoles are getting kinda silly at this point. Although I'd still kill for an all Sega sprite scaler mini cab with a full size wheel.
They're ridiculous.
eh..... there's actually only 2 machines that are at all like this. Sega Astro City mini and Taito Egret 2 mini. SNK is barely comparable, and other mini consoles are totally different.
TATE MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODE!!!!!! so awesome!
Those ZX Spectrum colors from early Taito games aren't the most pleasant to look at.
That Tatsujin t-shirt was badass, one of my favorite childhood shooter
gun frontier is good
Very cool little system most of the games seem pretty great also.
No built-in fleshlight?! No sale!
thanks for that absolutely legendary TATE MODE!!!!
Joe, calm down, take a week off.
My eyes popped out of my head when I saw the screen rotate, I want one!
The effort they put into this is awesome. Not really huge on these mini systems but definitely considering this one.
That TATE MODE bit was so fucking hilarious that I had to re watching it a bunch of times hahaha, Awesome work as always!
Best tate mode take yet on a console and Game sack.
God damn it. Now I have bubble bubble song stuck in my head. Thanks game sack
Thx for actually showing that the Astro city fight stick is compatible. Iv been asking that question for a while.
I knew it was coming...I anticipated it. I still laughed uncontrollably. Great timing.
"not quite enjoying being alive" omg you're killin' me lmfao
I kind of want to buy one just to see if I can gut it out and throw a Pi4 in there, oooh the options!
Thanks for sharing your sack with with the world.
OMG THAT TATE MODE IS AESOME!
Thanks for this Joe.
Loved your reaction to the system's screen rotation - TAAAAAAAAAAATE MOOOOOOOOODE!!!
Something like this just with mame instead of proprietary software would be awesome. Flipping the screen is super cool
Taito goodness!
Just have to keep the device near a keyboard I guess and use a button there.
MAME sucks. It's a garbage emulator that nobody uses anymore anyway. Stick with the Egret II Mini.

2:26 Hilarious 😁 thanks for the laughs!
@@Horos_de_Vega Oh, really? That's pretty awesome info, thanks for sharing! What was the first licensed game globally?
@@Jordan3DS It seems to be 280-ZZZAP :)
I've just watched Joe's playing some ZX Spectrum games, and he even liked one of them!
that rotating screen feature is pretty awesome
that TATE MODE gag is GOLDEN hahaha still laughing soo hard even seeing it multiple times. Good stuff, every time you guys upload a video its the highlight of my stressful day.
As it turns out, I have a built in tate mode too…. Went from horizontal to vertical this morning getting out of bed.
