I love the endings to these videos, never know what to expect!
Kraft sponsored episode 🤯
I always use the CRT filters
I know not to expect that ‘like subscribe’ pleading- Sack don’t roll like that!
Joe, whenever you talk about a game's music, you usually pause the narration and let the music speak for itself for a few seconds. I super appreciate that, guy.
Demons of Asteborg is a pretty great game! Glad to see it on the show. You mentioned the boss/hp bars...there is an item in the house at the start of the game where if you go left into the house instead of right to start the quest, you can not only jump up and get an item that displays HP bars, but even more importantly, you can pet your dog!!
Love how no matter what RUclips's algorithm changes, Joe always releases videos in the middle of the night, in the middle of the weekend.
I love u gamesack! U made my night. After an hour of scrolling, something I actually love. Thanks man please never stop making your videos.
That ending sketch was good. Made me feel like the announcer was just a real person reading the ads that were on his phone.
Been going through some personal stuff, so the last few sleepless weekends have been filled with watching some older vids and on new vid night staying up to see what you have in store Joe. Thanks for the awesome content and the much needed laughs. ❤️
I, too, prefer a comfy episode of Game Sack to the bullshit in my life, from time to time 😊.
It's audio-visual comfort food!
Take it easy my brother, try to rest where you can. ✊
Wow, Demons of Asteborg looks super fun... definitely need to get myself a copy!
It is quite nice. enjoyed it myself so far :)
A bit janky but brilliant overall. Works perfectly on a Mega Sg, too.
marvelous game
Wondering if it's possible for the ROM to work on my genesis classic. I'd love to play it on that thing.
Definitely looks great. That one's on my to play list.
That skit woke everyone in the house up.
Absolutely fantastic!
Great episode!
Thank you GameSack for such great content and skits at the end like the bonus room in a video game :)
8:42 -- here's a tip: if you are using OBS to record footage, you can use the Replay buffer feature to record to a rolling buffer. You can set a time limit or a size limit and whenever you are content with the take, you hit a button and this buffer is saved to the disk. It won't help you get through the tougher parts of a game, but it will make recording the footage easier!
Cool of you to showcase John Riggs’s game. My favorite thing every Sunday is waking up, sipping on a hot cup of coffee, and enjoying a new episode of game sack. It’s like comfort food.. only it’s not food. But umm, yeah, you’re the man Joe! Hope all is well!
Watching GameSack is kinda like watching a real show on a streaming platform or cable, about retro games…every episode actually feels like a high quality production and you can tell they take pride in their videos. It’s almost like a Netflix series about retro and vintage games!
Where did you see such a game?
@@nicolasjonasson4820 the first game, titled “yea yea beebiss”. I have no idea what the title is supposed to mean haha and personally, it’s not the type of game I’m into, but it still looks very well done graphically, and looks like it might be fun for those who are into the genre. Riggs is such a nice dude, so I do hope it does well.
I like game shack and jhon rigs because they are like regular dudes u could hang with
Hey...!!! Don't eat jow....!!!!
If there's one suggestion I'd make for these videos, I'd be to drop some icons into the screen to show what platforms they're available on close to the end of each review.
when he states what console they're for and/or showcases him plugging them into the console? maybe you should just pay better attention and pause to write down what console they are for.
@@UltimateGamerCC Joe specifies the console/s at the start, but it can be easy to miss. A reminder at the end of each segment on a game helps if the game turns out to be interesting, which it isn't always at the beginning. I don't know about you, but my memory is less than perfect, and I appreciate the odd affordance to compensate for it.
That would be nice
Bonjour Joe !
I had the chance to meet the developers of "The Cursed Knight" at different stages of the game's development.
They did an exceptional job, being very attentive to their community. That's what allowed them to move forward and correct a lot of mistakes and bugs.
Thank you and congratulations to them again! A big thought to Arnaud Demarais (Dev. of the game) that I had the chance to meet, this guy is really cool !
In the end, a beautiful French game, I am proud of the whole team!
Thank you my friend !!!!
Thank you very much for your support !!
De rien les amis, votre succès est largement mérité, on est tous fier de vous ! ;)
@@arnauddemarais9104 , thanks for making good games. Now would you and your team mind showing the SNES/NSFC some love, please? I would love to see some new games for that system. Thank you.
@@paxhumana2015 we all love the snes but for now it seems too comolicated to develop for.
After all this time you still have the same intro and outro music which is amazing. Please don't ever change that. This channel and "My Life in Gaming" have the best music.
Every single time I fall asleep while watching RUclips, no matter what I started out watching, it's always on Game Sack when I wake up.
I love the loss for words after the tissue prompt
He got him with the shredded 🧀 at the end 😅
The ending skit is pure dadaism. I love it!
Top down racing games are usually pretty tedious. It's all about track memorization. That said, Micro Machines V3 on the PS1 and Micro Machines 64 Turbo on the N64 (basically the same game) are still fun racing games; especially if you can get 4 friends together for some mini racing mayhem!
Great video. That ending skit had me rolling. Perfect parody of annoying commercials. 🤣
Demons of Asteborg is a must-grab. That game is legit.
I bought it’s physical cart because the folks at Digital Foundry recommended it and I was not disappointed. Great game!
Mr. Riggs does the steam version of your game include the rom file?
@RockManLP_Radio I, legit, say 'Legit' all the time.
@RockManLP_Radio I'll cosign it by admitting I legit say legit all the time.
Hey Joe,
You rock buddy!!
always so happy to see a game sack video every Saturday at 1 AM!!!!!!!!!!
fight me
do it tuff guy
@@lordsosa9383 what are you talking about
@@tartellu5010 bring it on tuff guy
Thank you Joe for many years of the sack.
Thank you Amber!!
Amber is the color of her energy
These videos are great, and I live for these post-credits skits XD
OMG I love the graphics in Demons of Asterborg. They look more like a modern indie game than an old game but that’s a good thing, it makes it fresh.
Honestly gamesack is frickin awsome!
Loved it when Dave was around but it still rocks now 👍👍👍👍
Joe....I love your show.
I miss that golf loving partner though.
He should stop by once in awhile.
Think you can get it inside mine?
Get lost Stadler!
This youtuber have the best intro and outro for each game he show us.
Rush Rush Rally is around for almost 15 years and was one of the first homebrew games for the Dreamcast. It's just the slightly enhanced Reloaded version that came out recently.
Regarding Xeno Crisis audio: You can contact Bitmap Bureau and they will send you shipping labels to send in your carts to be fixed. They just haven't made any announcement about it, unfortunately.
Hi Joe. It was great to see your cameo on the last Cosmic FX video! We Game Sack fans from Brazil really appreciated it!
"it also includes a soundtrack cd for uncompressed audio that you can rip with a cd player that your computer doesn't have" - this is just pure gold, thank you ^^ i always make sure that my new computers always have a CD/DVD/Blu-Ray Player for all those 1000 CDs i still own ;)
For another future episode about this subject, i recommend checking out the recently released NES version of Jim Power.
This was my favorite skit in a while.
Your content is top notch, thanks man. We appreciate the hard work and your genuine passion for gaming.
Easily my favorite RUclips show. Thanks for the amazing content!
For Xeno Crisis I'm surprised they didn't just steal the Shock Troopers control scheme. As Joe suggested spinning with a button is less easy than resetting yourself by halting fire, then you can do dodge and special with the other buttons while shooting.
The whole "the game numbered one doesn't exist" reminds me of Apidya, (or more properly Apidya II). A challenging Gradius-Style shooter for the Amiga with an excellent Chris Hulsbeck soundtrack.
Another great video Joe! I love the ending short, one of the best.
I'll take a fresh sack every Saturday night. Thanks Joe!
I'm happy to see a physical release for Mexican style shredded cheese. Hope it comes with the soundtrack.
That "run to the video store" hit me right in the feels 🥲
17:14 I had no idea but that is awesome
watching while in the hospital make my day a little better
Just found your channel and just gotta say, I LOVE the transition graphics. VERY clever.
Great vid Joe! Dare I purchase a Sega Genesis game for the first time since 1996? The answer is yes!
Sackurday Night! Thanks Joe!
Joe finally getting some big sponsors there at the end with Dave out of the way to reject them all.
Last night of ramadhan... Watching gamesack with the wife.... Man i love tonight!
XenoCrisis is going to be ported on the Watara Supervision before the SNES, *WHERE IT BELONGS* .
I mean, have they seen the SNES controller?
@Marco Mazzini, et al, I found the toxic console fan whores! Please, do humankind a huge favor and catch a speeding bullet train the hard and painful way, okay? Thank you.
Agree
Thank you for making this episode. This is really nice.
Here are two recommendations for new games for old consoles: Red Moon of April for PS Vita and The Lighthouse of São Bento do Oeste for Sega Saturn
Dang that Space EX game has some neat sounding music from what I heard. Can't seem to find it uploaded anywhere sadly but i'll need to look a bit harder maybe, would love to hear more. I agree with your sentiment towards the end, I too would love to see some new SNES games. Thanks for a great video!
Every single one of these games look amazing!
A real joy to watch your videos , thanks from Algeria
The neoclassical soundtrack of Asteborg blasting through the Yamaha soundchip of the Mega Drive , is pure bliss ...At least to me , thanks for highlighting the music. Sound is as important if not more than graphics.
I actually heard of Yeah Yeah Beebiss on John Riggs’ channel. It’s awesome to see these games getting love from multiple sources.
I didn't even know they made new games for old consoles until I saw your video just now. This is a really great idea and I hope we see more of this
2:50 - Ah, yes, the William Tell Overture goes well with Chinese hoping vampires.
Lost count of how many Sunday's I've spent shoveling shredded cheese down my gullet.
Just came to say... THANKS for the collab with Cosmic Effect! I discovered your channel through C.E., and it was great since yours, is my favorite YT game channel!
Shout-outs to Chips n' Chello's music being used in Ya Ya Beebis II.
Loved the Tiger Uppercut reference! 😅
The cheese skit came out of nowhere but being the simpleton I am, I still laughed lol.
Hey Joe, could you do an episode on this "Castlevania?" It's sounds very interesting.
YEAH! I'd love to see what MGM comedy actor Red Skelton had to do with the little-known gem.
@@gluttonousmaximus9048 Man, that guy just doesn't stay dead, even though he's like 100 years old!
First, he fell off a cliff- but then picked himself up again like nothing happened. Then, some muscular guy with no pants whipped him to death (in battle, of course- what did you think I meant?), but he just got back up and started throwing bones at everyone again. And then there was the incident with the third-degree burns caused by holy water...
I ate too much Mexican shredded cheese and my intestines are having the biggest cheese pulling contest ever. Thanks @Game Sack 🧀🤣
Can't sleep and have been waiting for this. Thanks Joe!
Same been having trouble sleeping the last few weeks so when Joe got a new vid it actually makes it a lot better haha
Izzy and that racing game had some kickass soundtracks.
fight me
come at me bro
What is the most ideal retro console to develop for nowadays? The criteria can be decent power for indies to deal with, good non-assembly language devkit support for even relative newcomers, lack of gimmicks and easy security hacking and stuff
Seems that the GBA takes the cake for handhelds, but what about home consoles?
atari is probably the easiest
Dreamcast also seems to be beloved for home brew.. but don’t quote me on that I am not a pro in that department
Lots of great stuff has been coming out for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive lately.
Likely DC
SGDK is a genesis development framework that abstracts all the low level hardware concerns away, like a modern game dev framework, seems to be well liked for doing modern 2d retro games for old hardware
These are the best episodes
RUclipsr John Riggs had Yeah Yeah Beebiss II made and explained how he willed the game into existence in a recent video.
I liked the "CD drive your computer doesn't have" line lol.
The after credits skit was fantastic
I too like these modern games for vintage consoles. And man, that Asterborg game looks sweeeeet!
That was one of the best end credits. :D
That sega game is nuts!
I couldn't imagine a console game looking like that when the genesis came out.
Demons of Asteborg looks cool. I dig the graphics. Intrepid Izzy looks like a lot of fun as well. Cute graphics..The protagonist definitely looks to be heavily influenced by Shantae.. but it’s all good. The game does have a mobile vibe to it, but it still looks like a really fun game. I love to see that devs are still making new games for the older consoles. The 16 bit era is probably my favorite and the era I have the most nostalgia for, particularly the SNES and genesis 🖤
If everything looks the same and there's like 3 enemies in the whole game like Joe said, then thanks but no thanks.
I would get Izzy but I feel Robbed knowing that there could be a more Original 2D Platformer out there.
Izzy’s not a bad game of Course.
But Some 2D games can feel samey.
Also... the Yeah Yeah Beebiss II box art is awesome. ;) lol
Thanks for the great work Sir
@22:50 so true and it's been out of the car much longer 😂. And yes, I DO eat sometimes. I gotta go get shredded cheese right now!
Thanks Joe for helping us spread the word about The Cursed Knight ! :)
Kind of surprised you didn't sneak him into a billboard in the background like all those other RUclips reviewers.
@@jessragan6714 We did actually! I don't think Joe gave me an address to send the physical copy yet, but he has his custom rom for sure.
@@jessragan6714 They did.
I like to try a couple of them. Thanks for the showcase.
Demons of Asteborg looks like the best in show, seconded by Intrepid Izzy and Xenocrisis in third. not that i'm saying the others look bad or anything like that, just more the types of games that i go for the most. also i'm with you on Overhead Racers, they're just not very fun most of the time, i hate bumping into shit being made to feel like it's my fault, when it's not!
There’s a brand new Neo Geo AES game called Kraut Buster that’s a spiritual successor to the iconic Metal Slug Joe. Released in 2019 btw.
The ending skit on this video is my favourite one ever!
boom plow
i just slapped you in the face boy
That demons of asteborg game looks sick 🔥🔥🔥
Really cool ! thanks !
I’m meant to be cleaning my house but instead I’m watching that end skit again. Thanks Joe!
Michael Corleone: "Today I clean house...but not before watching Gamesack".
Xeno Crisis and Demons of Asteborg are really great games. These two along with Tanglewood and Paprium my four favorite modern day Indie games for the Genesis. They're all incredible.
Somebody went and made a spiritual sequel to Baby Kyonshi no Amida Daibouken, what a world do we live in
I'll recommend that you check out Amazon's Training Road on the NES Developed by Ancient, a company owned by Yuzo Koshiro, that also developed Streets of Rage 2 & 3 back in the day.
It's a spinoff of their Gotta Protectors series, whose most recent game got released on Switch not too long ago. The English NES release has box art similar to what you'd see on a NES game in the 80's and 90's, and has unfortunate censorship in the game, in reference to how a ton of games when they got localized also got censored.
Ancient was an underappreciated giant, i put them on the same level as Treasure.
Can't believe Ancient is still around. That's some mindfuck shit right there.
My problem with Demons of Asteborg was that you didn't get to keep the magic scroll powerups between the levels. But the game was fun to play through. One of the music tracks in the game was obviously inspired by Castlevania Aria of Sorrow and I appreciate that :)
I picked up Intrepid Izzy, truly great and addictive game. Wish I could buy more of these new games for old consoles, only so much space and budget though
That last bit is awesome!
come at me punk
fight me
Who doesn't hate treble? I listen to all my music from the next room over under multiple blankets.
Always enjoy the end segments, but you may have outdone yourself this time. Kudos!
😂 died at "anyone remember Castlevania" mocking those obnoxious memes
Nicely done video, thanks! Looking forward to future installments. If you haven't covered them yet, I suggest "Slow Mole" as well as "Fire and Rescue". Both available on itchio I believe.
While it's totally okay they release the same game on different retro consoles with same assets, I do miss how ports back in the day would usually mean a completely redesigned game to take advantage of the console. It's just kinda boring seeing Genesis level graphics on Neo Geo, or how many NES style games has been ported to Sega Dreamcast. Really wish the ports reflected the console more... but I get it, it would take a tremendous amount of time and would basically be remaking the same game.
