I bought a game recently because it had a dumb name, and I'm glad I did, as it turned out to be a pretty cool game. It's a badass robot-on-robot arena fighter for the MSX2... called "Girly Block." I have no idea WHY it's called Girly Block, but it totally is, and it likes to remind you of that fact constantly since the game's title is a permanent fixture on the HUD, in big, fancy, angular letters. The game also wins bonus points for its Game Over screen, which reads as follows (word for word, in English): "NO! NO! OH! MY GOD! YOUR MISSION ENDED IN FAILED. WHAT A MISERABLE CHAP!" Game of the Year, all years.
I have fond memories of Tuff Enuff. I first saw it in GameFan and thought the graphics were pretty good. My friend at school used to talk about how much he liked that game, so I finally rented it for a weekend. My friend hyped it up so much that I was really excited to finally play it. It was different then other fighting games and felt unique, and the graphics had that SNES look to them and were crisp and cleanly drawn. There is some good fun to be had playing Tuff Enuff if you give it a chance and look at it as it's own game without comparisons to other fighting games.
There's an arcade game I discovered on MAME. It's a shooter that is really fun to play and it's actually much easier than most shmups because it doesn't bombard you with a million bullets on screen. It has good graphics and a pretty nice intro but the music is the best part. Really awesome music. What is this amazing game? Hot Dog Storm. Why? Because the emblem of the pilots is literally a hot dog in space. A hot dog IN SPACE!!!
@@angelusnielson7135 According to the oxford dictionary "revengeance" is a real word, albeit antiquated and rarely used these days. It was common in the 16th century though.
Your segment on Hey, Punk! Are You TuffENuff? Master the Moves to Master Me! is what I've been waiting for since I discovered this channel. You even mentioned K's. God bless and thank you, Game Sack, for making us laugh about love again.
I love your unique topics for videos. It keeps me entertained and your show is one of the most looked forward to on RUclips for me. Hopefully you will do another game vs. video like you did for Rad Racer/Outrun. Good stuff! Thanks for your hard work, fellas!
How about "Irritating Stick"? To be fair, that _IS_ an accurate translation of the game's Japanese title, Ira Ira Bo. Then there's puzzle-themed Bubble Bobble spinoff, "Bust A Move"! Really? That sounds like a dance game! Why didn't they call it "Puzzle Bobble"? ...Oh wait. They did in every place _BUT_ the US!
When I think of games with dumb names, I think of: Tongue of the Fatman for MS-DOS, Irritating Stick for Playstation and Sticky Balls for the Gizmondo. But that's going into the really dumb category.
Faxanadu is one of my favourite NES games. I love sidescrolling RPG adventures, and this one is a lot of fun. The atmosphere and soundtrack is excellent. I recommend checking out the OC Remix Faxanadu funk medley, which is also awesome.
One more game with a weird name: Gunbare Ginkun. Possibly forgivable as the game is Japanese. It's an arcade game (which I suspect was left in Japan). If the name is weird, the gameplay is even weirder. I cheated to find this because I have it on MAME (good luck finding the PCB!). It's a series of challenges. The graphics look like the scribbles of a 5 year old. Amongst the challenges are racing on a chicken with wheels (like a motorbike) and trying to finish first & slowing down in time not to fall off of a cliff. Then there is getting your head blown off & trying to re-connect it to your body & finally - pissing on a spark trying to put it out before it makes a bomb go off! If you guys ever do another weird games episode - that one is right up there!
Game Sack Dave Why thank you; I'm glad you liked the joke. I almost didn't post it, thinking it too nerdy and cheesy, but then I quickly remembered that this is a Game Sack video, and that the community around you guys is really awesome. Thanks for making such great videos and for being such cool dudes. I'd laugh until I pulled something if it turned out that this account ( Game Sack Dave) wasn't really Dave, lol.
as a person who only collects fun games you guys are the shit. so many channels only focus on completion. so sad you all don't have more subs. thank you for everything.
My friend had Xexyz when I was a kid! He pronounced it "exes," like, "all my exes live in Texas," and he talked about it so much and sounded so damn stupid when he said it that I never played the game. Now I see I missed out! He got it new at KB Toys for $15 like a year after it came out.
Dave's on point about the "Faxanadu" name origin. It's true that Japanese love to combine words like that, usually it's to shorten popular phrases. You definitely have learned about their culture through games! LOL
I always thought Slap Fight for Genesis was completely stupid considering the fact that it's a standard space-ship shooter. It's kind of like the box art of Phalanx in that it seems completely random and has nothing to do with the game.
I am one of those rare people with actual fond memories of Xexyz from back in the day. My friend got it back in 1990 when I was 7. We never beat it, but it was entertaining enough we never really stopped trying, at least for a few years.
Woke up at 4am to get my 10 day-old son to my wife when, instead of going back to sleep, I get a Game Sack alert.... GREAT EPISODE! I always wanted to know if ABADOX was a good game but I never had the courage to try it out due it's name. THANX
The skit at the end might be my favorite of any you've done; Idk why, but I couldn't stop laughing for like, five minutes after the video. But yeah, great job as always, Mr Whitey and Mr Readyfiver.
Faxanadu is a great RPG! I find it crazy that I have almost every game in this video and only paid on average $0.50 per game. Metal Storm is selling for $130 and I got it in a lot of 30 games I paid $5 for at a yard sale about 10 years ago. Now I can't even find NES games or when I rarely find some they want $5 for their Mario/Duckhunt at yard sales.
6 years later I know, but garage sales have gotten even worse. People see what others are asking for online, and think they can actually get that much, so they either don't put them out for sale, or try to price them at online prices
And here I was, thinking you would open with Bad Dudes vs Dragon Ninja. Great clip as usual, keep it up DUDES. Always a pleasure to see what you come up next.
Not sure if this is really dumb, or just plain silly, but one of my favourite stupid game titles is 'Bastard!!' (with the two exclamation points). From what I understand, it's actually based on a manga, but received a couple of games on Super Famicom and Playstation. Also, liked the little skit at the end with the messed-up game titles.
When you mentioned Xexys being a hidden gem on the NES I thought, "You know what else is a hidden gem and probably belongs on this list? Faxanadu!" Seconds later...boom!
Really great episode (great Rush reference). Are there any plans to do another publisher episode in the future, really like the few you have done in the past as they really had a nice diverse list of games and genres.
Clowning on dumb titles for 20 minutes, followed up by "What would you call Super Magnetic Neo?" "Big Ugly Fat Face Guy" it's just... mmmuah chef's kiss
Nice vid. What's with the name Hydlide or Qix? How about a list of games that had their names changed for no apparent reason? Like Assault Suit Leynos to Target Earth for the Genesis. Or Thunder Force IV to Lightening Force (sic) when the previous 2 Thunder Force games didn't get their names changed?

Veigues Tactical Gladiator = The Madcap Misadventures of A Mech That Controls Like Ass Super Magnetic Neo = KILL IT WITH FIRE!!! Tuff E Nuff = Sidewalk Brawler The Second Abadox = Fantastic Voyage: Giant Space Monster Edition

Loved the "hidden gems" shoutout to Metal Jesus... cracked me up... Hellfire, seriously one of the toughest games in my library.. couldn't even make it past lvl 4 with a GameShark
In Veigues, your chest-mounted machine-gun can be aimed up or down with the D-Pad. Although the game is very unfair, a simple cheat unlocks Easy Mode and the game becomes much more fun. The American boxart is awful, but the original Japanese one is fairly cool.
Some that come to mind are Nuts and Milk, Strip Fighter 2, Seaman, S.C.A.T, Bad Dudes, Two Crude Dudes, Revengers of Vengeance, Beyond the Beyond, Ballz 3D, Karnaaj Rally and let's not forget about Ninja Baseball Batman.
That Metal Jesus reference though... lmao
It's like the third time they've done it though, lol
NERIFES88 So what? It's funny.
I wonder if he knows how much they pick on him though; rofl
Mark Tubes, They aren't really picking on him, it's a joke.
Yes it was... that's why I said "lmao"?
Another excellent episode from RUclips's most consistent gaming channel.

the hidden gem part hahahahaha. well done guys

Good game I have it on Coin-ops ignite
You guys totally missed Revengers of Vengeance on SEGA CD! The ultimate dumb name game. It literally means "Revenge of Revenge"!
Revenge of Revenge sounds like it could be the tag line for that Kill Bill 3 people keep talking about
despite what metal gear would have you think revengence isn't even a word.
@@angelusnielson7135 According to the oxford dictionary "revengeance" is a real word, albeit antiquated and rarely used these days. It was common in the 16th century though.

Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing
Even paused my adblock and watched the ENTIRE ads just for you guys..Because you rock.

Bust a Move is a perfectly fine name
Without a doubt the hardest I have ever laughed at the title of a video. I hope this will not be the only installment in this new series.
Any of you ever heard of a Korean DS game called Touch DIC?
It's more of an app, but still.
I have a feeling we have a few high-level players around here...
17:01 Tuff enuff was named Dead Dance in Japan...big story mode with katakana style balloons and ultimate modes...heavily edited in the u.s.
I'm sure that made it much more fun.
For babies ?
Thanks for bringing “Abadox” to my attention, Dave. Great ending sketch, too!
When I think of games with dumb names, I think of: Tongue of the Fatman for MS-DOS, Irritating Stick for Playstation and Sticky Balls for the Gizmondo. But that's going into the really dumb category.

Super Robot Death Machine 2000 kickstarter needs to happen!
The fact that you mentioned RUSH makes this episode perfect!
P.S.: S.C.A.T. is a really stupid name for a game...anything but SCAT.
Greatest band ever! Neil Peart R.I.P
Worst video game names? Here ya go!
Touch Dic
Beyond the Beyond
Spanky's Quest
Sticky Balls
Booby Kids
Divine Divinity
Psybadek
Irritating Stick
Divine Divinity is an amazing game though and the start of Larian who are now famous for Baldur's Gate 3 ^_^
@@Justforvisit I love Divine Divinity. It is one of the best "Diablo clones".

LOL. That's funny.

No love for Dash Galaxy in the Alien Asylum for NES? Maybe round 2.
Neo looks like one of those sticky wall slapper hands attached to a flash drive.
I always thought Slap Fight for Genesis was completely stupid considering the fact that it's a standard space-ship shooter. It's kind of like the box art of Phalanx in that it seems completely random and has nothing to do with the game.
Slap Fight is an amazingly awful name.
The last minute was pure gold! LOL
The dumbest video game name I've ever heard has to be Infinite Undiscovery.
And the best name is of course Fat Worm Blows a Sparky

Milton Bradley also distributed the Vectrex in the USA btw. They did dabble in video games.

Some nice games on the NES side I've never seen before. Thanks Game Sack!
always love your videos guys keep it up, cant believe you only have 170k subs!
Nothing ages like fine wine like a game sack episode 💯
If you do a second part here is a suggestion: Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late.
Yeah, there is a game called Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late
5:55 Censorship missed by Nintendo. There's a series that Game Sack can do.
You should do an episode titled "Games We've Showed in a Montage But Never Looked At Individually"

how about ''Magical Flying Hat Turbo'' or ''Decap attack'' as it's known on the Genesis
Love the Rush reference guys! Xanadu is such a great song too!
Yes. I love that song...
Abbadox should be named "The Insider"
I dunno... S.C.A.T. is kind of a winner.
I thought I was the only one who called it "Residential Evil" just for kicks. You guys are awesome.
"Nipple Tale for the Dreamcast" LMFAO! ooooh I'm so immature...

I like the quick reference to Airplane in there.
That got a hearty LOL from me. XD
This end sketch was one of the funniest of all time. I'll be keeping an eye out for when it comes out on the sketch channel.
I'd call Abodox, "The Adventures of Captain Nazal."
i love the skits at the end. Thats where dave shines
Did you guys record the Dreamcast footage using VGA? It looks incredible!
Rudeness! >:0

when I saw the dreamcast I thought it would be Seamen
The game is Seaman, but yeah crazy title and crazy game.
Always the best. Just wish this show to be weekly again. Gratz
Dave mentioning Rush? Another reason you guys are great!
Aaron Jessee Mentioning their best album too.
The first album I ever bought was Rush's "Retrospective I" which had Xanadu on it, and it blew me away.
Phalanx-ESPECIALLY the cover-that banjo dude, as a kid i saw this at the store, and always wondered what the hell it was about..
love gamesack. cheers
Eric and the Floaters. One of the strangest game names I know of.
What would I name these games instead? Well, let's see...
Xexyz = Apollo's Quest
Faxanadu = Faxanadu (can't improve upon perfection!)
Veigues Tactical Gladiator = The Madcap Misadventures of A Mech That Controls Like Ass
Super Magnetic Neo = KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!
Tuff E Nuff = Sidewalk Brawler The Second
Abadox = Fantastic Voyage: Giant Space Monster Edition
Other channels: Tongue of the fatman
You: Xexyz
You are always the best.
But some games with dumb names have some of the best gameplay
Love your videos GameSack! Keep up the awesome job!
