Nintendo used to have so many racing franchises, but now the only one they put out these days is Mario Kart
mario kart sucks
too many rubber banding
ai seems to finish in the position where they start with
and
THE BLUESHELL
+HeyItsRye at least im not posting comment begging for like
im just giving my opinion
Cast your largest net first.
If only Sony could get Crash back from bitch ass Activision then the true kart racer could return
Crash Team Racing!
That says something about the game that it can be compared to 8. CTR still stands the test of time, most games can't do it. I like MK8 too though.
Having bought all of the Burnout games-- even Crash-- I don't think we can attribute the death of the series to any one game. Instead, we can chalk it up to Electronic Arts doing what it does by reassigning studios that it buys to other IP and slowly choking it to death. The kiss of death for Burnout was the reassignment of Criterion to Need For Speed, trying to re-energize that series. It basically was a Burnout game, with NFS skin. Burnout Crash came later, but by then, the fate of series was basically sealed. Criterion was now a NFS developer-- much like Neversoft was pulled from Tony Hawk and thrust into Guitar Hero.
Sega killed a lot of franchises without trying... they just gave up (e.g. Vectorman, Shining Force, Phantasy Star, Beyond Oasis, Chakkan, Virtua Fighter...) Sega needs to re-invest! Oh an d Ristar, Dynamite Heddy, or Gunstar Heros? Burning Rangers? Panzer Dragoon??? Shenmue. I'm sorry but the list goes on NiGHTS!!!!
The Shinning series has been going without stopping, the thing is, the new games have nothing to do with the originals, at all.
nbttl 1 /gestures at Shenmue 3/
If there was a list "Top 10 failures of Sega history" one entry should be "Loosing Camelot Software Planning to Nintendo". First we had Sega fans aching for more Shining Force, but now we also have Nintendo players wanting more Golden Sun. Camelot recently stated that they would like to make SF4, but nothing happened since. It's a shame. I would fund that game personally if I was rich enough.
I think they were working on a Chakan game for Dreamcast at one time. But it got canceled.
Gunstar heroes was Treasure.
Considering all the dead companies and franchises in gaming, i predict this series having many installments. Keep up the interesting concepts, guys.
There's a strategy in the GBA F-Zero games thats basically required, but the only game that teaches it is Maximum Velocity. While you're turning you can release the accelerator to turn tighter, and then press the accelerator again to do a "burst" which changes your angular velocity to the direction your ship is pointing. Basically, start turning then tap the A button with a bit of a rhythm, and you'll be able to take really tight turns, and more importantly, avoid the pinball effect. if you let Maximum Velocity sit at its title screen for a little while, it will play a video about how to do the burst turn. It really makes GP Legend much more playable.
Question Block Gaming Damn, why the hell is such an awesome (and apparently almost vital) feature never brought up otherwise?
Joseph Wise Because the handheld F-zero games were fun, but ultimately an afterthought. In GP Legend's case, it was a rushed cash-in on an incredibly mediocre anime. That said, I love the track design, and GP Legend has most of the characters from the N64 version, including my favorite ship, the White Cat.
Exactly what I was going to post: release and tap the accelerator in corners Dave.
You didn't understand the gameplay mechanic. GP Legend is probably the best GBA game overall.
Question Block Gaming F-Zero Climax is my favourite of the GBA games, it even had a track editor and users could share their tracks with others using the codes generated in the game. It's funny how there were only two true 3D F-Zero games compared to the SNES (including the Satellaview exclusives) and GBA games.
TatsuyaSN You can't really blame someone for not knowing a technique that the game doesn't tell you directly.
you guys forgot about greendog which killed the greendog franchise before it could even begin
They will never forget GreenDog
its too bad to be here
"Bring Back Greendog To Heal A Troubled World" - The collective wish of those who dare to hope for a better tomorrow
MichiganJack I think you may have just come up with the best game pitch ever, but you'd have to throw in some Faceball, for good measure.
You can't forget Greendog, it can only be repressed.
9:05
Actually... that's nintendo saying that Mario Kart had eaten F-Zero.
Newgame+ LD yep, just like Street Fighter has now eaten Final Fight... sigh
Don't blame Other M's failure (only) on Team Ninja. The story and portrayal of Samus was the fault of Yoshio Sakamoto, who has been in charge of the Metroid series since Super Metroid, and is also the writer of the Metroid manga. His vision of Samus is pretty much the exact opposite of how Samus was always portrayed in the West. Sakamoto's version is short and insecure, suffers severe daddy issues to the point that she is dangerously (and nearly lethally in the case of Other M) submissive, and also suffers from (again nearly lethal in the case of Other M) emotional breakdowns.
Metroid could have survived a bad game. The biggest problem may really be the disconnect between Sakamoto's vision of Samus and the rest of the world's vision. In this more story-heavy age, it also doesn't help that Sakamoto isn't a particularly good writer. Nor is his game design necessarily that great either. Basically, the series needs someone else in charge, maybe with Sakamoto demoted to a "creative consultant" role, at least as long as the new person in charge is willing to overrule most of what Sakamoto says... (Sakamoto has a few good ideas, but that is it.)
I think Nintendo is scared of launching another 'troid with Samus as the protagonist, fearing Sakamoto and the fan's reactions to the characterization. Kinda like preventing another Other M.
aguy654 stop trolling dude
Thanks for the info, really i like the game and thats the important thing, that you liked the game, if someone didnt like it well dont like it and thats all, go on with another game, im not going to blame anyone, just enjoy and if i dont enjoy go to another game, have a nice day.
After AM2R that put Nintendog to shame. I doubt there will be a decent Metroid game anytime soon. I bought the Gamecube only for Metroid Prime. And I did not regret it.
Tidal Yacht You do know federation force was a spin off right?
Remember when Xbox had black and white buttons instead of bumpers like DualShock?
Pepperidge Farm remembers.
Sjono Yeah, and good thing they ditch that as those buttons had terrible placement.
Sjono ohhh I member now!
Abbey McNeill Member Chewbacca?
Sjono that was almost yesterday rookie. remember when controllers had one button the fire button?
The First Xbox? Yep, until they copied the controller map for PS3 by removing the two special buttons located @ the lower left of the controller & swapped them with LR triggers.
This video could have simply been the Konami logo for 30 minutes and 57 seconds.
Ghost 58
You'd have to give some time to EA too.
One of my top five favorite video game shows. Every episode is fun to watch even though I may have never played or known the game existed. Keep 'em coming!!
Wow, 190 episodes in and you guys still find fun stuff to talk about! Awesome!!
Personally, i miss the Crazy Taxi games
they would make a new one if everyone would stop complaining about the absence of all i want
YA YA YA YA YA!
+PNVG that song stuck in my head now thx to you
TheNintendochannel64 you can always play crazy taxi catch a ride on android and ios
I never played any past the original Dreamcast one. I still own it. Are the two sequels any good?
You're a package courier whose package is stolen and now you have to save the day! Makes me want to play some
Fallout New Vegas.
RAZGRIZ9718 Meh
Ahhhh, I'd love to see a new F-zero and a Golden Axe game...
I'm here from the future to offer you F-Zero 99
Honestly one of your best episode to date! I was literally just thinking about a similar theme for a video, and you guys beat me to the punch lol! Keep up the good work gentlemen!
It's 3:20am in Brazil, i was about to sleep but NOPE, new GameSack episode.
4pm here watching this video
You guys make such incredible content. I love every episode. Thank you :)
The sarcasm is so thick, Joe gave us a tutorial. I love it! Although I thought Joe was far to kind to Lunar on the 3DS. Any game that takes away from your MP while running, makes you turn on the experience function, and has you screaming at your handheld should be tossed in a garbage disposal while on fire.
Addendum- I would buy another F-Zero if it landed on the Switch.
“Didn’t tickle people in the right places.” Best line ever! 😂. You sir have earned another subscriber.
Rocket Knight > Sparkster. Rocket Knight was pretty universally accepted as an awesome game, then Sparkster came out and you never heard anything since. Same for Actraiser > Actraiser 2, though I know that was covered on a previous Game Sack
Also, love it when a new episode of "The Sack" comes out! Please keep these coming, love you guys and your awesome shirts!
+garou1911 new episodes every weeks
garou1911 There was a fourth rocket knight game, under the name Rocket Knight, that was digitally released on pc, Xbox 360, and ps3. Technically this was the franchise killer...also Konami so...
Speedster Blur You're right, I always forget about digital marketplace games. I think they even talked about that in their mascots video.
I assume you mean the Genesis version of Sparkster. Sparkster on the SNES was pretty awesome!
That was a great, short review for Lunar: Dragon Song. Most people don't even bother to give this game a chance.
Truth be told, if I had to deal with walking that drained my HP, a choice between either XP or items, a party that was useless save for the main character, monsters that levels with you and could utterly wreck your party *because* of most of your party being trash, the MC's attack power being gimped a roughly a third of the way into the game because of a curse that didn't let him stand on his head, a plodding storyline that has very little elements from the original games, and a "final boss" with a message that completely contradicted the story, then I wouldn't bother giving the game a chance, either.
Check out the battle footage at 3:25 in the video. You can see that Jian stands on his head to execute a kick for the third attack in his combo. Well, when the curse is applied partway through the game, it robs him of being able to stand on his head, meaning that the damage that he deals is effectively neutered until he can clear himself of it through an event later in the story.
My best guess is that the curse threw off his equilibrium to prevent him standing on his head, but the game never explains that, and there could be a host of other curses used to hamper the hero. Like many aspects of the game, its inclusion is puzzling, to put it mildly.
Self-made Island I liked lunar dragon song and I'm a big lunar fan, but it has serious problems that the guy before me mentioned.. it also contradicts the story lucia should left to be a goddess not stay as a human because that messes up the cannon with Alex being the one she chose to remain human ( & die) for
Love this type of episode. Even though the main focus was on 6 game, we got to hear you guys' opinions on a myriad of rad games, due to the episode's structure. Clever!
man, very original topic concept. this is one of the reasons why game sack is my favorite youtube channel
Man, I'm always so excited to see a new Game Sack episode. Are you guys planning an episode completely devoted to light gun shooters any time soon? I asked your opinion on them last episode and you said you were working on difficulties with recording them, so I figured I'd ask. Thanks for being awesome!
We would like to. Already have many of them recorded and reviews written up. Just need to do all of the PlayStation games.
Game Sack Hell yeah! So excited. Would you consider doing the Point Break games and maybe Elemental Gearbolt for the PS 1 games?
Of course! That is if we can make it past stage 1 in Elemental Gearbolt. From what I remember it's crazy difficult to the point of just being silly.
+Joseph Wise you mean point blank???
Game Sack I think it's not too bad if you stick to fire and ignore the other two elements, but I might be wrong. Lol, yeah, I meant Point Blank, I'm an idiot. I'm really tired, so I'll blame it on that, but I'm still really embarrassed...
Burnout paradise STILL has an active community. I have a friend that plays it every other week and helped with the mod that expands the game with the DLC that the PC version didn't get, give you more cars to mess with, and turn off traffic. It's a lot of fun.
I'd love to see an episode on a story of how you both meet. I love the insults you throw at each other! Have you both always been competitive towards each other? Like what game did you both beat together? Has there been one where you both have stayed up at your current age till like 5am in the morning? Sorry for the questions xD love you guys keep up the work!
Yeah we've been kinda competitive at times. We've beaten Shining Force games together and Ys books 1 & 2. There's no way in hell I would stay up until 5am nowadays. I value sleep more and more as I get to be an old man.
I love game sack, you guys rock! That end skit was hilarious, the characters you guys make just get me bustin up.
P.s. Greendog rulz
12:03 an Opeth poster in final fight streetwise for those that are interested.
and yet sonic denies to die. i dont know why?
-Mania and- Forces -are- is the make-it-or-break-it game-s- for the franchise and Sonic Team. -(especially the latter)-
Fuck up there, and I can promise you the series is as done as toast.
I'm pretty convinced Mania will be a good one....i liked Episode 1 & 2 but they were to short :)
They must have a rabid fanbase that keeps buying them. No other franchise can afford to release so many mediocre and bad games.
Because people still make shit tons of hacks and fangames to the point where even if they have franchise killers (06 *cough* Boom) they can still succeed through fans making better Sonic games than Sonic Team
Seeing how the Sonic franchise has survived so many bad games, I don't see how Sonic Forces could be the "make it or break it" game. And it's gonna be the same shitty 3D Sonic as we've seen countless times. Sonic Mania looks decent, though, don't see how they could fuck that up...
I never lose interest in an episode of Game Sack, you guys are good, you don't exactly 'sparkle' like some game reviewers do but you're episodes are packed with content and well researched, so uh ya know keep it up! X
Always love seeing Game Sack videos in my sub list!
"Final Fright: Street Wise"
Thank you game sack
Final Fight Streetwise Arcade mode need a better continuous option, so don’t force to start from start every time.
that tingly feeling when i see a new gamesack episode in my inbox
One of my favorite episodes on this channel by far!
17:50 we can all thank Dave for Metroid Prime 4 for Switch happening. thanks Dave!
Here we are... STILL waiting for it. lol
Fable 3. It killed an entire company. It could have been so awesome, but it was so bad.
I didn't think Fable 3 was a bad game. It wasn't as fancy as the previous games, but it still had good game play, and didn't they even make 1/4 game?
best line "just like an episode of Game Sack!"
you made all these franchise killers sound pretty good by talking about the pros which most people don't bother to... now I want Final Fight Streetwise and Golden Axe Beast Rider
This is the perfect GameSack episode: 3D games with 2D games, old games with new games, polygons and sprites, all together!!!
I would love to see a brand new Final Fight game that plays like the classic games in the franchise with the visual style of the more recent Capcom fighters like Street Fighter IV and V, or they could do some amazing 2d visuals with a smooth hand drawn look similar to the Guilty Gear series or Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. Have you guys ever considered doing an episode on the Genesis? I know you have covered many of the major games for the system, however i would still love to see it happen, maybe you could do a mix of covering popular titles as well as the lesser known titles like Alisia Dragoon or Landstalker.
looking at capcom nowadays
dont get too much hope
Agreed on both points. I'd like a new Final Fight, Slammasters, an actual he port of Cadillacs and Dinosaurs ect.
I'm also fairly certain that'll never happen.
Capcom should sell all their licenses to somebody who can actually make games.
Maybe it could be a small release like what natsumi did wild guns reloaded.
I started out with a SNES when I was five years old and the first game that I got outside of Super Mario World was Street Fighter II Turbo, and from that point on I knew I could trust Capcom and went on to purchase Mega Man X, Street Fighter Alpha 2, and Super Ghouls and Ghosts. It's sad watching my favorite developers become shadows of their former selves.
The Power Stone series. Imagine Super Smash Bros. styled gameplay, except in true 3D. Lots of items, moving stages, unique characters. Every surface could be used as a springboard. Amazing game mechanics that just made it stand apart from any other fighting game then or since. Capcom originally made 2 of them for the dreamcast, and then made a compilation on the PSP. And that was the last time they ever touched the series. Maybe if they had released them on a different console then maybe the series might not have died.
what a great subject for a video.. keep up the great work guys
Thanks for showcasing Final Fight Streetwise. Totally checking this out now, it looks absolutely hilarious.
Breathe of Fire: Dragon Quarter
Tenchu Shadow Assassins
Suikoden PSP
Shadow Hearts 3
Ape Escape Million Monkeys
R-Type Tactics
and every great franchise by Konami made into pachinko games.
There's a sixth _Breath of Fire_ game. It's Japan only, and was only released on mobile and Windows, but it still counts.
_Shadow Hearts 3_ was such a weird game. It was like they were trying to make the most stock anime cliche game with no charm at all.
And that Breath Of Fire game is completely worthless :)
go look at sales , you are uneducated you just grabbed games that were last in there franchise it means nothing a lot of reasons why games dont continue but your list is laughable for the fake gamer who thinks he is a gamer with knowledge when you have no clue at all. go spend 20 min and look it up nearly none of those games killed there franchise its not hard to do research what you have is list of games that were last made in there franchise nothing more.
R-Type Final
Wave Race, 1080° Snowboarding, Star Wars Jedi Knight, Medabots, F.E.A.R., Crazy Taxi. The list is sadly too long to go on.
You guys are the best. Awesome video as always!
"And that's your cue to laugh because sarcasm is hilarious. " 😂😂
The ending was hilarious :) By the way Golden Axe III is my favourite in the series, I beat it many times with my friends and by myself.
Remember when Metroid was dead? Now it's back.
Back again!
It's 2021 and Metroid is back again, again!
About Final Fight Streetwise, the game wasn’t that bad for me, different but still a development. For separating items grabbing from attacking, thank God they separated, how many times in beat’m up games an attack had ben canceled due you did it over item, so grabbed item instead of attacking enemy.
hey guys, i love your videos, and i am on a quest to watch and like every single one.....never stop...if every human in the world wuld do this you wuld be goods.
Armored Core series ended with Armored Core: Verdict Day.
Verdict Day was so much fun though! I guess the Souls series and now Sekiro makes too much money for them to care about making the best mecha series in gaming anymore...
Regarding Metroid; with Super Metroid being my favorite game of all time, I'm glad I can look back at this video knowing that Samus Returns was great and that we have Metroid Prime 4 on the horizon.
About Golden Axe Beast Rider, what this really miss from the original game is the magic, better if you can control your magic as in Golden Axe 2.
Furthermore, the game need to add other characters from the original one and multi player option, whether it local of offline, like Dynasty Warriors Series.
I am surprised you guys didn't mention Parasite Eve. The first two games are pretty good and the 3rd game is a really poor cash in on the PSP that didn't really even get marketed much, unlike the first two games. I think Squaresoft knew they had dud o their hands.
Third Birthday was likely due to the infamous plot twist, as well as poor sales.
Golden sun is a franchises I think pretty much died, first two games on the GBA were great, and it wasn't to many things wrong with the DS game followed, but it lacked a proper difficulty and the story felt rather rushed sadly. im still hopeing for a continuation, but camelot and ninendo has other plans it seems.
SKYRANDER I wish those other plans of camelots included shining force games. I recently started playing through shining force cd for the first time in years, and I'd forgotten how much fun they can be. Get on it camelot!
Wow yeah shining force was freeking great. Truly a game concept before its time, i really liked the spin of games on the ps2 to :)
SKYRANDER Golden Sun sucked straight from the start. So derivative and boring.
Just bought the 2nd season of Sack on amazon. I'm not first to comment but a satisfied customer. Thanks dudes!
I thought that FABLE may be on here. Either way great video :) Always look forward to videos from you guys
Yep, Fable is a dead series now. Shame as I liked the 1st 2.
Another entertaining video by Game Sack! Perhaps some ideas for part 2: Sim City (killed by last Sim City game), Command & Conquer series (killed by C&C 4).
Metroid 2: Return of Samus remake was fantastic.
Banjo Kazooie was killed by Nuts n Bolts which should have been its own game and not a Banjo game. Though rare being owned by Microsoft pretty much killed all classic rare franchises lol.
Rare actually made the car decision themselves. They thought the collectathon genre was dead at that time.
If it was just a spin off it would have been alright
Rare was dead before M$. Several people were pissed at nintendo and they left the company before they were bought out XD
Killer Instinct on the x1?
But then again Rare never developed it lol
Me in 2005: Oooh, look, a new Lunar game for the DS!
Me slightly later in 2005: I question all my life choices.
i clicked on this video so hard my finger shattered. love the sack
ERROR Dave!!!! You can dodge in first person missle mode in Metroid Other M. They should of showed that you can do this in the games tutorial, but they didn't. Though, it is mentioned somewhere in the manual.
You guys so undersold Golden Axe: Beastrider. You get to burn people with monsters, and cut them in half. You didn't do that once. It is so much fun burning people with monsters, and cutting them in half. Did I mention you can burn people with monsters and cut them in half? Because you can burn people with monsters and cut them in half.
I know there's people getting cut in half in the Beast Rider segment in this very video.
Not only that, but like most people, they never understood the combat system of this game.If you do the parrying right, you can perform brutal finish moves on most enemies.
And let's not forget the greatest line ever uttered in a video game.......
"BY MY BALLS!!!"
Beast Rider is the very reason why I don't preorder games anymore.
I feel like the Golden Axe franchise itself is pretty generic. It seemed fun and new for a bit when it first appeared, but really the genre is filled with much better character examples in the same vain with better play mechanics that this series' characters feels dull.
Getting back into the game sack mood, having bought the blu-ray after months of being busy with other things to catch up on these vids. Now the bi-weekly schedule will be dreaded by me again, haha
whew, for a second i thought you were gonna rag on Golden Axe:The Duel. I actually like that game. Some of my favorite supers ever, particularly Jamm's.
how about games where the franchise "jumps the shark?"
Double Dragon 3
Contra on the PS2
What about Contra Corps?
17:41 “C’mon Nintendo, do the right thing for your Metroid fans and release a new game for the Switch, and by that I mean a real Metroid game.”
Hoo boy, do I got some news for you!
What happened?
Tony C. Metroid Dread came out. It’s a true Metroid game on the switch, and it’s pretty good!
@@kohaku_amba oh sweet.
Damn you guys.... another awesome production. I need to look into this patreon thingy....
The likely reason they made the run button drain your HP in Lunar is because it can be used to run away from and avoid enemies, so they intended to give the player a disadvantage for doing so. That's why speeding up the battles doesn't drain HP, as it doesn't directly give you any advantage in the game. Just a thought.
PD is another one. Everyone loved Perfect Dark, but then PD Zero came out and killed the series :(. Very short lived. Weapons are boring, they made Joanna American and cartoony, multiplayer did not have special AI settings for the bots, and there was no cheat/bonus modes. It's like they took everything that added replay value and charm in the original, and then removed it.
nuts and bolts is bad too
Meh. I think Nuts and Bolts would be a better game if the Banjo-Kazooie IP wasn't strapped on it.
It's honestly a very unique game on its own merits.
Nuts and Bolts is great. I find the people that call it bad generally fall into at least one of three categories:
1) They've never played it and are just parroting others.
2) They're salty that it's not a platformer, or
3) They don't have a creative bone in their body and can't enjoy sandbox games.
Despite it having (quite) a few issues, the central game mechanic was solid and unique - it wasn't until Scrap Mechanic came along that the "lego vehicle" mechanics were served justice (Robocraft eschewed creativity in favour of stats and Homebrew did away with the blocky interface).
1 game that comes to mind that ruined a franchise was L.A Rush
why???
Golden rule everyone, every gamesack vid gets instant thumbs up. Lets go. Thanks for the vids guys, so much effort, we love you.
the part where you drop wii remote made me laugh XD,because I can relate when you have to switch remote positions
Saturday night is now complete!
HERP DERP HERP DERP FIRST FIRST FIRST HERP DERP HERP DERP
Ahem... Dino Crisis 3, anyone?
Sabeythang Dino Crisis 1 & 2 on PS1 was better than Resident Evil 1 & 2.
Dino Crisis 3 made on X-Box, so didn’t try it, but saw some videos about it.
Parasite Eve 2 was better than Dino Crisis 2, not too far, but both was better Resident Evil.
Currently I am a big fan if Resident Evil franchise 🙈
Yo, uhhhh, GameSack is like ... the best retro gaming channel ... on RUclips
Great video, loved the original idea of the intro for game sack!
Hey I have a video Idea Killed Franchises. My prime example is Mega Man Legends 3 (the game that never was)
ya, the biggest fail is Nintendo failing to celebrate Metroid's 30th anniversary last year. "What? it's Samus' 30th birthday?!? oh, let's just force the creators of AM2R (Another Metroid 2 Remake); people who have worked on this game for years, this amazing passion project, and force them to take it down." great job nintendo......really doing the metroid franchise justice there. that is probably my biggest complaint with nintendo. there is no way i am buying a switch without an amazing Metroid game.
incorrect. I think Nintendo has completely neglected one of their most beloved franchises. Do you know how easy it would be for Nintendo to just remake Metroid 2 with Metroid Zero Mission graphics and sprites? extremely easy is the answer. the game is already made, you just need to change all the graphics. oh idk, how about create a 3DS compilation game with Metroid zero mission, metroid 2, and fusion? bam, easy money. another random idea, why doesn't Nintendo just buy AM2R from the guys who made the game? just buy the game, and resell it. easy. And my point is, Nintendo has gone completely overboard with "cracking down" on "people mooching off their ip's". all those let's players, and the biggest example, Angry Joe. that is what i am trying to say.
i used the love nintendo and be a diehard fan, but when they decided to try and shove a gimmick into every game they make instead of just focusing on making a good game that basically when the love for nintendo died out.
aguy654 Why do you hat Nintendo fans hating shit games so much lol
+aguy654
Jesus Christ, you're a moron. Nintendo are _ridiculously_ overstretching their legal muscles - arguably to the point of illegality with regards to RUclips monetisation. AM2R was never sold for profit or hosted on adspace, so Nintendo didn't _need_ to shut it down. They could've done what _pretty much every other game publisher/developer does_ and appreciate their fans and celebrate their fandom. Nintendo even (allegedly) went so far as to get AM2R and a Pokemon fangame pulled from the Video Game Awards as best fan creation contenders. They want to bury anything they can that could even _remotely_ compete with them (it's how they dominated the 8-bit era after all). They are unreasonably possessive of their IP - to the point where it's clearly doing them more harm than good, losing them fans, respect and free exposure.
"But it was still not original in the slightest"
It was a remake. -__- Besides, if you played the game you'd see just how wrong that comment is. There's plenty of original stuff.
"And people only liked it because ot wasn't Nintendo."
What horse shit. It was a genuinely good (not perfect) game.
"Had Nintendo made it, you would've heard nothing but remake complaints."
You mean like Zero Mission? Oh wait, that game was praised and loved by all despite it being a remake.
"They believe they made it and Nintendo didn't"
Umm, no they don't. Really? Dude, no one believes that. Don't be stupid.
I knew this getting into this argument, but yeah, you're way too stupid/dishonest to have any kind of conversation with.
i miss burnout so much too :(
at least we got nfs hot pursuit and asphalt 8
remake of most wanted is also quite simular to burnout thou not the same
+casuagamer. i think its call dangerous golf
rubberstack The original Need For Speed Most Wanted was very fun. The campaign was good. I liked the cinematic feel with the FMVs before the races with the main boss dudes. Especially the last race with Razor
Lovely episode! :^)
Thank you Game Sack. :-)
Final Fight Streetwise was such a sad title. The devs apparently wanted to make something far more respectful of the series and its origins, with an art style that was inspired by the initial three titles, but were hamstrung by Capcom USA into making it a GTA styled affair with grittier visuals, and much more adult content. I don't know if we would have gotten a good game if the team were left to make want they originally wanted, but it would be nice to have a proper throwback at some point.
Catkeeper would have failed anyway. Needed something like yakuza and nmh style. Or godhand and urban reign. A bigger world would be good though
Bring back Burnout. Racing games haven't been the same without Burnout
I always felt like Burnout Paradise killed it for the franchise. I just couldn't get into it like the other games.
Secret Level basically killed two of the best beat em up series from the 90's. Good thing they were never tasked to make a Streets of Rage 4.
I can imagine more episodes on franchise killers later, I mean, there's quite a lot of stuff.
Which is pretty sad.
Franchise Killer: This video
j/k ;)
The Nostalgia Factor - shut up
I thought Joe was going to say Greeeeen Dawg!
Great episode. For a follow up, I nominate Red Faction: Armageddon. The series could have survived THQ's business issues, like Volition's Saints Row games, but Armageddon took the series in the wrong direction by removing Guerilla's open world gameplay and more destructive environments.
I think in the FZero game you're supposed to tap the R and L button when going around the corners, that's what I do
Neo Contra could be seen as a franchise killer, though that one had a slow death. Contra: Legacy of War and Contra: Shattered Soldier had already weakened the series.
+Tidal Yacht thats before shattered soldier was made
Try the PS1 games. They put Neo Contra to shame.
+Tidal Yacht At best they gave Contra a last hurrah. Both are great games but we wouldn't have seen more even if Konami didn't turn to pachinko.
No.1: Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Keep whining, babies
Got proof of sale in franchise profit? Or just your bitchin'
Look at the rise in merchandise sale then, or maybe just how much profit the series is getting, shut up already and keep your whining to yourself, no one cares
@@danielmiyahara320 Umm... Disney Consumer Products division (merch/toys) lost money overall for the first time in history in 2018, because of poor Star Wars sales. "Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker", the supposed conclusion to the 40 year Star Wars saga story, isn't even going to make as much money as the 2017 Star Wars spin-off with "Rogue One", let alone even match Episode 8. "The Last Jedi" was the biggest franchise killer in known history.
You're one moronic clown
If you guys ever do this topic again Earthworm Jim 3D definitely needs to be on the list.
Well, at least one franchise in this video is making a comeback :o
I had no idea there was a downloadable burnout game. it looks awful haha
Banjo-Kazooie. Then Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts happened. -_-
N&B might have been a better game had the Banjo-Kazooie IP not been attached to it.
Blame Rare falsely believing collectathons were dead.
Im stuck on Lunar Eternal Blue for Sega CD, how do you build the bridge?
Sunday with game sack is the best
