Hey PDubs, I have an awesome suggestion for your next live stream. What’s with all the current price slashes on arcade 1up cabinets lately.? Everything seems to be up for sale lately. Should we expect big things in 2023 with some new games, are they clearing inventory, are the price of hardware/software dropping, or do they realize their current prices aren’t moving products. Just odd that pretty much everything from Spring 2022 and before is on sale. Just a thought

    • @PDubsArcadeLoft
      @PDubsArcadeLoft  2 года назад

@@stupidfathobbit4262 MichaelB and Console Kits have done that same stream topic ad nauseum many times it's pretty much that time of year to clear out the old inventory and make room for all the new cabs coming out. Plus due to their higher costs we are seeing more sales as people don't want to pay full price

@@PDubsArcadeLoft ok just feels like something is up in 1up world. Just saw that Tron and Xmen have crazy sales up today which haven’t been the case especially with those two plus games like KI dropping tremendously plus Ridge Racer for $400. Plus all their rehash 2022 games are reasonably priced. To think the covid prices were so high it’s refreshing to see things be more reasonable for the community just thought it would make for a good topic but yeah don’t want to sound redundant if other streamers covered the same topic recently. Keep up the good work.

I confess I thought that Evercade would not last long but here we are three generations later. I think it is, as you mention, that they tapped into the collectors market rather than the general retro gamer one.
Somehow though I was always still tempted but in the end never pulled the trigger and it is the carts that put me off each time. Not the actual physical media but that each is highly curated by means of what they can license rather than the quality of the games.
Something like the Retroid Pocket 3+ might not hit the nostalgia factor for me as much as an Evercade would but at the same time it can also do one hell of a lot more.

Great video :). For me personally I think its an absolutely fantastic system. Its pretty much everything I've wanted to see happen for a Long time. A modern day retro console that uses cartridges. I've always been a huge advocate for physical media. I also love the fact this system focuses on putting out indie and homebrew games. Along with some unreleased games getting released and a few fan translation games. The games that sold me on this system was The Oliver twins and the codemasters collection. This will be the first and only video game system I will be going full set with. Because its financially manageable. It has quality software. And its a nice alternate to the main 3 hardware company's.

Love the Evercade VS and you described my situation to a "T". I bought the VS many months ago, played it a few times, updated the fw, etc. but never made a video of it for the same reason. One thing I didn't know about was the game of the month, that is a nice addition. I just didn't make the time to play the many cartridges I bought for it. I've played games on about 4 carts at this point and own about 15 or more. They all played well and were fun, one of my goals before the end of this year is to get through more than half of the carts lol. As always, thank you for the great review PDubs!

I just pulled the trigger on one online. I found a premium package with two controllers, two arcade games cartridges and a set of commemorative evercade pins from a UK site on super sale for 114$! I had been watching videos nightly about this thing and starting to get sad that I probably wouldn't be able to afford it any time soon. Living paycheck to paycheck, it just seemed like a stretch, but for the nostalgic enjoyment I'll get, I made it happen. I researched handhelds etc, and I'm not tech savvy enough to download roms etc all the time. I agree, I like that I'm paying for something legal, and that I get physical cartridges and full color manuals like when I was a kid. I wasn't allowed to have video games as a kid really, but I did grow up playing Atari, then NES and I had a commodore 64 handme down from my aunt.. The last game systems I was at all "proficient" at were genesis and a little bit of snes. This will allow me to play alot of what I knew and to experience alot of those things I only got to salivate over in the Sears wishbook like the Atari Lynx. I was a little nervous clicking on your video cause I was hoping you wouldn't make me sad or feel bad at all about my purchase since I only just ordered it an hour ago, but it was a great video, and only reinforced my enthusiasm. I'm wicked excited. I don't play video games as an adult really, and I almost thank my parents restrictions for that, but its nice to feel like a kid again for a minute here and there, and since this is multiplayer I can share it with my fiancee and bring it out at parties etc. Thanks for not bursting my bubble.

    PDubs,
Man, if the Evercade came out during the Sega Genesis era, I would've had an Evercade instead of a Genesis, hands down. Playing arcade games at home? Always a dream! :) Heck, even if they could've gotten this out during the beginning of the Playstation era, I would've gotten one back then. Evercade still looks like a great system to play these games on, so I'm glad there here for those who'd like a cost effective alternative.

I don't regret buying the VS, however I do wish Blaze would update the button mapping and allow different profiles for the one controller so I could set it up how I want it for each game. The button mapping is very inconsistent, even for similar games on the one cartridge. The button mapping actually stops me using the VS as much as I otherwise would and makes me less enthusiastic about buying more carts.

well... I much older than you so I owned many different systems...
This "new" system is a product for a niche market : collectors. Sure it's cool, but in a world literally burning right now, with the exhaustion of resources , more physical product like this is not reasonable, at least for me.
Sure, it's cool for all the indie games and some pretty obscure games but you won't have "big" game son this system (like capcom, Sega or Nintendo...). As usual, there is already a flashcard for this system : running Retroarch with it is pretty bad, because the system is not powerful enough....
Apart from collecting plastic boxes , I don't see the point of this system. Well done to Evercade to be enough confident to launch a new system in this period of time (Ouya tried also... with a big failure in the end...).
I had the opportunity to test this system at friend's house : it's cool to show your kids , "what daddy used to play when he was a kid..."... but that's about it.

@@PDubsArcadeLoft Aye, didn't even know this exists until local gaming store posted preorder for the new black version consoles few days ago.
Now i'm having an itch to get it since it's more then just another "pie with emulator" in a plastic box,...
They are actually selling old games (which is amazing) and you can rather collect them as physical copies on cartridges.
I actually buy retail copies for my PS5 as I rather enjoy having my favorite games in physical functional copy (I just hope they don't stop doing that for future consoles, downloading it digitally just feels like I'm basically buying a bag of air from untouched nature).
And it's very good to actually be able to play the games of the old in their original native format so that you can compare and see how games today and how games of the past worked and it's also a good compass for the developers to not loose their touch.
All in all I'm impressed by this actual retro console.

Tehy're coming out with the Tomb Raider edition in July. It is like a clay gray and blue color. The box is cool.

A waste of money, carts are not cheap, slow in coming out. Get 1000's on a retro console for less, or can you, do your own system as roms are easy to find.

Only heard of the Evercade name in passing. Didn't know exactly what it was. After watching this video, I feel an itch I may have to scratch. Thanks Dubs!
