Thanks for checking out my Evercade Alpha review, currently spending more time on this than my Switch, Xbox etc! Let me know what you think and have a cracker xx
Love your enthusiasm! The size of this and that you can use cartridges for more games is what finally got me to buy a little arcade machine. I’ve also been on the fence about Evercade for awhile. This thing got me to jump in!
my family have been pestering me for ideas for xmas. i saw this and said that please! they then said too expensive. they dont understand. i will buy it myself cheers
At the old git age of 65, I don’t know *any* of the more modern games featured in this video review as I still reminisce over the even older Arcade games such as Space Invaders, Asteroids, Defender etc. Are any of these available on this unit? Also, do they offer less childlike designs?
I would recommend a Nintendo Switch. The Switch has Space Invaders, Defenders and Asteroids. On the Switch it also supports Online Leaderboards allowing you to compete world wide. I hope this helps.
The Evercade Atari arcade 1 cartridge has lunar Lander, centipede, asteroids deluxe plus missile command and a few more besides and is fully compatibleb with the Alpha
Downloaded thousands of classic roms on my computer, only played a handful then moved on with my life. The sad reality of nostalgia is that it just reminds you that the best of your life is already over.
Exactly, it will never feel the same like back in the days 😐😑😶🙄😏😣 The Alpha control panel without an Acrylic panel is my major complain, as it will wear and tear 😭😢
I go through phases installing RetroArch, MAME, etc on some new device that supports it... spend about two days messing around with roms and settings and all sorts... play a dozen games for all 15 minutes each and then leave it alone until the next device comes along that I can install it on?
I feel ya bud but you can get nostalgia. I’ve delved into the nostalgia hole myself and have a friend that’s constantly lost in nostalgia and in incredible debt because of it. Musical instruments, music, toys, computer, soccer shirts etc. I’ve dabbled over the last decade. In reflection try not to spend too much time and money and you can find a bit of nostalgia here and there. And that’s the key…. Every now and then I feel nostalgic so I wear an old soccer shirt for a day or play an old cd on the hifi for an hour and then move knowing I can dip in and out. To live a full life of nostalgia is exhausting. No wonder people get depressed. Evolve, get better, experience new things but don’t forget where you come from. VIVA SUBBUTEO
It is surprisingly good. Many of the arcade games start to make sense only when played on a proper machine like that with arcade controls. I have been a longtime Evercade fan, but this is a new level. Great to see the little startup expanding.
I got the Pandora's box 2 6-button joyticks and 8000 games. It is awesome and I play it for hours. Also, it doesn't come with a screen, so you just plug the HDMI cable into whatever size screen you want, or even create your own arcade cabinet for it. Plus, it is super easy to throw in the car and bring it over to a friends house. Cheers
i love Evercade and play the VS almost daily. this bartop arcade isn't for me, but it seems like most people who bought one really like it. i'm also shocked at how many people are just now discovering Evercade!
This looks ace. I've not played on an arcade machine in years. To me it looks like it's set up for a left handed player? I think I'd want the stick in my right hand (steady on!).
Nice, I'd love to at least attempt to slap one together myself but honestly, I struggle to even put up a shelf. Anything I build would probably either crumble to dust or burst into flames when you switch it on
You can buy a flat pack and have it boot straight to Retrobat or similar front loader. You can always get decals ect for it as well plus the bonus of choosing Sanwa/Seimitsu parts. Only worth doing if you have a spare pc lying around otherwise it will get expensive.
A good half-way house is to convert an old iCade cabinet. They are all effectively door stops now since the iCade app has been killed and the Bluetooth controller has been flagged as unsafe as it uses an old insecure protocol. They are pretty easy (compared to a complete scratch build) to convert to something MAME or retropie or batocera etc
Make a retro station that plays those classic 90’-2000 arcade video games you would find at Ruckers and 7elevens….play all of them with two to four players of course
As a hater of the first evercade handheld (mainly because of 16:9 crap screen), I have to admit they've improved so much and this looks like the perfect gift for myself!
I've got a retro pi 5 with everything on. I've got a portable one with loads on. I've got loads on my phone. I have a commodore and a spectrum do I need this. Yes I do
I got a Pandoras Box in this design. Really nice. Gotta work out how to add rooms Outrageously they missed classics such as Escape ( planet robot Monsters) Enduro Racer and Rampage. Unforgivable Sure would be nice to add PS1 Spider to it. We just need a design like this that has N64 and it would be heaven
Ordered mine some months ago when it was first advertised I'm now gutted that there was a deluxe model with a controller for two player can you buy them x
One thing to be careful with is to always exit back to the menu before pulling the cartridges. I always eject them using the select button just to be sure. Did you find any of the secret built in games? 👀
Nice. I think you'll still need pretty good eyesight, given the 8" screen. And the fact that you can't bring it closer to your eyes, like you can do with a handheld. Or maybe you can, as it appears to move around on the desktop when the finger prodding gets frantic. Does it tend to hop around, and if it does, have you found any solutions? I notice your hand is resting on the corner of the unit. Some reviewers say that's uncomfortable after a while? What do you think? Do you think you should have mentioned that there in no HDMI. so you can't plug it into a big telly. Two player games, on an 8" screen? Did you try that? Might test your poor eyesight. I like the product but feel your "review" is slightly skewed. By the way how did you get this - I've just looked and its on pre-order only in the UK. Is there a secret stash somewhere?
My eyesight's well past its best but I've not struggled with the screen size, even when playing two player - as long as you don't mind huddling in a bit! But yes, if you do play two player a lot, you're better off going with the Evercade VS-R which is designed for TVs. This is more of a traditional bartop, but with the added bonus that you CAN play two player with controllers when like-minded old gits come round 🙂
Das ist wirklich eine sehr gute Übersetzung auf deutsch, liebe diese Stimme und die tolle menschlichenähnliche Beettoonunnng und Übersetzungngsidee...Wenn du ein alter Sack bist😅
Me too, I really like it. The only upgrade I did was to change out the stock joystick and buttons for Sanwa parts. The Sanwa buttons are like night and day compared to the buttons it came with. Cheers
Nice arcade would buy it if it was a big arcade not a bartop because i have big hands and that dont work on bartops at all .. got the streetfighter version bartop from 1up and already sold it and buyed a big pacman arcade from 1up because bartops arcade is not for people with sausage fingers 😅 but its a nice bartop i give you that 😄
>$250 I'd rather you gave me that in cash and let me go get some upgrades for my PC, or my Steamdeck. I do not have the patience or the joints to sit hunched over a bartop anymore.
Overpriced for what it is. You can get bigger cabinets for similar prices that play all the retro stuff, Evercade started well but with issues of short licences and carts bricking themselves on updates i sold up my entire collection. Shame as it could have been really decent.
1. If this could be hacked to add other ROMS I presume the retro gamers are about to swamp their shorts. 2. My favorite part was when you briefly turned into a little girl. And here I thought you were merely a binary bloke.
Thanks for checking out my Evercade Alpha review, currently spending more time on this than my Switch, Xbox etc! Let me know what you think and have a cracker xx
Like your little Harry Potter library you’ve got bet that gathers dead skin😂
Is there a product link ?
I'm 54, for crying out loud! Why do I still want an arcade game for Christmas???
Because you're honest with yourself? :D
Memories of going on holiday to the sea side, saving your pocket money just to spend all day in the arcades🙂
me too 😁
Nostalgia
Because you have immaculate taste 🥂
Love your enthusiasm! The size of this and that you can use cartridges for more games is what finally got me to buy a little arcade machine. I’ve also been on the fence about Evercade for awhile. This thing got me to jump in!
I've been into Evercade since day 1, but this is a whole new thing. I am eagerly awaiting one of these as a Christmas present.
The Midnight resistance music brought me right back what a tune !
What a video🤩🥳
Part when his daughter playing it🤣, that was massive coolness.
Loved you to0
Trying to get her into the classics 😁
my family have been pestering me for ideas for xmas. i saw this and said that please! they then said too expensive. they dont understand. i will buy it myself cheers
let them get some games then :)
Haha, dude are u 12 or something 😂🤣😅
Aw boo, boring skinflints lol.

So true

lol, your experience not others.
I'd pay anything for Donky Kong and classic Robo Cop on a device like this!
This thing is SO cool! I have a pandora's box for a bunch of years, enjoying the living hell out of it. Retro-tech is awesome!
Absolutely, loving what Evercade is doing, and so many of those old games stand up surprisingly well
Hopefully EverSD will be supported on this one day
This is so exciting! I grew up on all these games. Mobile games are great too, but it's just not the same experience. Thanks!
I would love one of those.
It is surprisingly good. Many of the arcade games start to make sense only when played on a proper machine like that with arcade controls. I have been a longtime Evercade fan, but this is a new level. Great to see the little startup expanding.
Nice, can see this being a big seller. Especially for kids, The on off button is brilliant

Did you forget to remove the protective film from the top panel? Looks very weird.
i love Evercade and play the VS almost daily. this bartop arcade isn't for me, but it seems like most people who bought one really like it.
i'm also shocked at how many people are just now discovering Evercade!
This is what I’ve been looking for. Thanks 🎅
Quality materials. Need to be able to expand and add games ourselves surely!
This looks ace. I've not played on an arcade machine in years. To me it looks like it's set up for a left handed player? I think I'd want the stick in my right hand (steady on!).
As someone who made a MAME console myself, this looks to be much easier and honestly better than what I made.
Nice, I'd love to at least attempt to slap one together myself but honestly, I struggle to even put up a shelf. Anything I build would probably either crumble to dust or burst into flames when you switch it on

I have a custom made raspberry pi desktop arcade, these machines are definitely fun and scratch the 80s childhood itch.
Best left in the past now
Looks like you have a film to take off that marquis
How have I never heard of Evercade? I do love the idea of these. I think I would prefer more bells and whistles of the bigger bartop ones.
Early Christmas wishlist. 😍
They could have fitted a bigger screen while keeping the cabinet the same size, but it’s cool especially because it takes the cartridges.
Genuinely cool
Man I love that, nostalgia through the roof,r-type now that was the dogs bollocks.
I still love it and despise it in equal measure!
Make a retro station that plays those classic 90’-2000 arcade video games you would find at Ruckers and 7elevens….play all of them with two to four players of course
Looks good, want a full size machine but probably never happen 😢 love Ghouls and Ghosts, Rastan etc.
Is bombjack on it ??.?
As a hater of the first evercade handheld (mainly because of 16:9 crap screen), I have to admit they've improved so much and this looks like the perfect gift for myself!
Does the EverSD work with this?
love how you pronounce cart Ridges
The bot knickers are out in force.
Always 🙃
Great review but where's jetset willy 😢
I've got a retro pi 5 with everything on. I've got a portable one with loads on. I've got loads on my phone. I have a commodore and a spectrum do I need this. Yes I do
This is cool!
@TechSpurt I was having the same issue with updating the carts, this is now fixed in the latest firmware update!
I got a Pandoras Box in this design. Really nice. Gotta work out how to add rooms

Hilarious as always.... nice review
Looks cool, but you really need a 2 setup with these things imo.
Il aurait été plus judicieux de rabaisser le CPO au maximum pour pouvoir appuyer la paume des mains contre un support (table). A la manière de la mini "Arcade Game Room" de Legami.
“Spunk out “ lol
Evening Spurty 😊
Wow that's cool! ❤
Evening! And yep, it's geek cool I guess 😁
Maybe when playing Tomb Raider you could use the controller instead with its shoulder buttons 🤔
Great video! Does this also have HDMI output?
Cheers! Sadly not, but the Evercade VS is designed to be hooked up to a telly if you want to play these old bangers on a proper big screen
waiting for your vivo x200 pro review
Merci pour la vidéo 😊

Currently £200, honestly seems like a good price for what you're getting

Tougher than a Weatherspoons pork chop 😂
Pretty cool and all but why not just buy a Pandora box which is quite a bit cheaper and comes pre loaded with thousands of games
I want one where do I get this please.
Only 6 games?
The pac man one is cool
I don't need one,but i want one..Ha!
Great advert. How much did you get paid for it
Sunderland?
Can it play games online or those games come already installed
No, the online capabilities are purely for updates to the Firmware, OS and carts.

bruh, the lightup marquee is looking mighty frosty. Rip the plastic protector off!
Tougher than a Wetherspoons pork chop 🤣🤣🤣
no bluetooth?
correct.
As an old fart myself I think this is awesome
My mate made me my own arcade 😂
*Gen X happy noises*
Why TF are you taking the cartridges out while they are still running on the unit?
I bought a pandora box for £180 from Amazon with 26800 games built and made my own arcade machine...
Me too, I really like it. The only upgrade I did was to change out the stock joystick and buttons for Sanwa parts. The Sanwa buttons are like night and day compared to the buttons it came with. Cheers
Nice arcade would buy it if it was a big arcade not a bartop because i have big hands and that dont work on bartops at all .. got the streetfighter version bartop from 1up and already sold it and buyed a big pacman arcade from 1up because bartops arcade is not for people with sausage fingers 😅 but its a nice bartop i give you that 😄
How is this any different than a Nintendo Switch with an arcade stick? Etsy even sells wooden arcade shells you can pop your Switch into.
Does this involve waggling and twiddling the knob and smacking your buttons 'till you get a very high score?
Standard Saturday night
Do you need WiFi for this.
I love this but the marquee doesn't look very clear and not a fan of the side art.
Gimmi
Not really for me, i am right handed where i need the joystick in my right hand and use the buttons with my left lol so something like this is useless
Over the top sell..
Please disable the awful AI translation / AI voice dubbing in your upload settings!
>$250
I'd rather you gave me that in cash and let me go get some upgrades for my PC, or my Steamdeck. I do not have the patience or the joints to sit hunched over a bartop anymore.
Missed a trick not being able to add games to roms . Ok if you have the cash? Real turn off.
UPDATE: I bought the Atari Super Pocket 2 weeks ago. I've just ordered an Alpha Street fighter. Please, someone take my bank card off me!
Wait, what... Cartridge?...noo nonono....i get the retro idea, but that's a money grab, surely
They're $20/£17 a pop (except for a handful that have multiple PlayStation games), so not a bad deal at all.
I thought it was a good price myself
seriously no link
The OG tabletop arcade machines back in the early 80's were cool, these are just way overpriced display pieces.
Overpriced for what it is. You can get bigger cabinets for similar prices that play all the retro stuff, Evercade started well but with issues of short licences and carts bricking themselves on updates i sold up my entire collection. Shame as it could have been really decent.
this is a fail for me not being able to add your own games
What fps
Rubbish how there's no Bluetooth. Could imagine it being really immersive with a decent pair of Bluetooth noise cancelling headphones
1. If this could be hacked to add other ROMS I presume the retro gamers are about to swamp their shorts.
2. My favorite part was when you briefly turned into a little girl. And here I thought you were merely a binary bloke.
Hopefully EverSD will be supported one day
Evercade has almost 600 games officially licensed on cartridges now. If you want to play your own roms there are tons of different options.
@@KeenRetroGames and one of them is EverSD ;)
@@HtheB61 not on this or the EXP or the VS-R.
@@KeenRetroGames True, and that's why I hope it'll be supported one day
They have the most appalling cucustomer services that I know.
According to reviews the build quality sucks
Feel childish
its crap
