Great video, and on a side note, I spoke with customer service today, and it was the best customer service experience I have had in years !! I wish I had gotten her name. DIY is killing the game in all aspects. I'm learning so much from these vids.
I am so glad that I've found your YT ch!! I've been a follower of yours for many years now. I first got introduced to you through Pan and have been a fan and follower since!! Also wanted to wish you a huge congratulations on your product launch, I can't wait to get my hands on some if not all in the future. Happy detailing good sir!!
So I just gotta ask. If you want wheel weights on before coating due to the possible difficulty adhering to the wheel then - year down the road when you balance them do you need to polish the coating off that portion of the barrel so the balancing is seem less? And then recoat. Inquiring minds wanna know. The rear tires on the mustang always have premature wear!😮
I’ve had a few mustangs, unfortunately they seem to deposit rubber on the lower rear fenders, it’s almost as if the tires go up in smoke. Advise your tire installer, they will work accordingly.
@@diydetailofficial Good deal, thanks. I have the same issue especially right before I go get new tires put on.... I get a call by the EPA for polluting the air... I call it a a special air freshener!
Nice wheels. I'm assuming you won't be driving those in much snow but just FYI those are good tires but despite the all season label they are terrible in winter. I have them on my wife's minivan summer wheels and has dedicated winter wheels and tires anyway, but I have driven them in snow in the shoulder seasons and it's not good, even considering they aren't winter tires.
Yvan if you coat the wheel and you have your wheels balanced and they have to put the wheel weights in a different place on the wheel how will they adhere to the wheel if it’s coated
Hi Yvan, with your and your fellow detailers here, I managed to ceramic coat my mom's Lex. Looks like a pool of silk mirrors. Is there an easy way to clean rotors w/out taking the wheel off? Most answers I found recommend just driving the car a little. Your thoughts? Aloha.
So how often would you recoat a wheel? I coated mine about a year ago and its still holding up it seems to me. I do occasionally use a topper but not every wash.
I would really like to see your metal coating, I have a set of wheels I would like to do but concerned about dullness after cleaning the polish off after and coating the wheels.
Sharp-looking wheels Ivan. So I like to coat my Ford Roush Ranger and Matte Wheels. Will one bottle of 8-year coating and top it with one bottle of 3 years coating cover my truck?
@@D_Rok80 probably, I did apply Diamond 36 on my wife's new Subaru last year, body, glass, and wheels. So far holding well. The best part it takes me less than hours to wash the car with P&S Rinseless Wash. Easy to maintain.
After applying it doesn't look that different from before. It also was hard to apply as I have glossy black painted wheels, so I just waited 2 minutes minimum before leveling. I accidentally used a 300gsm towel for the first few until realizing then switched to my pearls. How can I ensure I did the right job?
I live in Arizona so theres a ton of dirt and dust everywhere in the air and on the roads. With that in mind should i wait longer than the one hour after coating my car before i take it out of my garage or is the one hour still good?
@@DMCnMEI’ve had luck hand polishing with a microfiber towel or 3 inch pad and hand hook-and-loop block. If your sealant is weakened by All Clean and time etc already then it should come off with a finishing or one step polish by hand.
@@chrisbradley3224 Applying the 5 year coating this weekend. I semi-recently applied a TW spray-on SI02 sealant. I plan to go through normal decon (APC pre-soak, iron remover, water spot remover) and then polish. Hoping that’s all enough to strip the sealant.
@@diydetailofficial Thanks, good to know. Just refinished my rims and want to put on a coating. Car is getting a lot of sprucing up lately! These vids help a lot for care and maintenance.
I guess I just waste a ton of products when I do my detailing. I mean, I get great results but I spray the ever living hell out of the tires and wheels and really hold nothing back.
Take the time to listen without pre conceived opinion. Yvan has been pushing the envelope and thinking outside the box for decades. I have also spoken with her a few times and agree she is great!@@diydetailofficial
Perfect timing. Getting ready to do this on a new car and hopefully I can use your 5 year ceramic coating that I just purchased.
Excellent.
Thank you for making these detailing 101 videos. Great job Yvan! Look forward to more of them!

Between the music and yvans voice this felt like watching PBS 😁
Thank you. Being educational is the goal.
This was very timely, as I'm getting ready to instal a new set of black clear-coated forged magnesium wheels on my car.
Enjoy!
Great video guys!💯
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey off topic but will All Clean be good and effective for upholstery cleaning?
Yes, 30/1 dilution.

By telling the technician, they will abrade where they need to put the weights.

Don’t worry about the flash rust on the rotors.
Can you use this coating on new powder coated wheels
Black satin
Yes
Perfect just in time for getting some aftermarket wheels 😎
Excellent, what wheels did you get?
@@diydetailofficial ordering a set of Enkei wheels very soon 🫡
Can your coat ring be used on matte or satin finished wheels?
Yes

Only when you feel the need.
does the 3 year graphene work on calipers also?
Yes!
What about using the coating on painted calipers?
Yes, good application for a coating
Excellent! The veloster just gets better and better!
Do you coat over the balancing weights?
I coat every surfaces
@@diydetailofficialDo you have any concerns about weights not sticking if you get new tires mounted within a year or two? Is stripping it mandatory?

Awesome I’ll take a look and probably get some!
Coated wheels are a huge time saver and product saver. Most of the time rinsless or soap is the only thing that we need🚀
Correct!

If it looks good then your good.
Does the 8 year ceramic coating go bad or harden in the bottle after being opened?
It will eventually
I live in Arizona so theres a ton of dirt and dust everywhere in the air and on the roads. With that in mind should i wait longer than the one hour after coating my car before i take it out of my garage or is the one hour still good?
One hour is sufficient.
So for example a 2008 I think it's aluminum original Ford mustang GT then I have to buy your metal coating to make it work?
No , if it’s painted use a regular coating, metal coating is only for raw metals
I have wheels that are PVD coated Do you recommend a regular ceramic.coating or ypur Metal coating. What's the difference between these 2 coatings?
Use the regular coatings. The metal coating is only for raw uncoated metals.
Very good point on future cleaning on coated wheels, just use car soap and clean frequently.
Right on
Useful video. Thx :)
Glad it was helpful!
Will iron remover and panel prep strip existing SI02 spray sealants, so I have a clean rim to accept my 5 year coating?
No, neither will strip a good quality sealant.
@@diydetailofficial Thanks for the response. What would recommend I use to strip sealants off rims so I can put a new coating on them? All Clean?
@DMCnME some sealants will require polishing to properly remove them. DIY Detail All Clean diluted 15/1 may help.

Is this at all feasible wheels-on? Or would this depend purely on arm contortion ability.
For the barrels, you should remove them.

Yes, but if you warn the tire shop they can adjust accordingly.
What will they do to adjust accordingly?

i like a lot of diy detail products but when you say this helps keep the wheels in balance i’m guessing you would want that statement back. cheers
i think it was thought that thanks to the ceramic protection the wheel won't hold dirt, snow and thanks to that it will remain balanced
As someone who drives in the winter, a coated wheel definitely assists in the wheels staying balanced when driving in the snow.
