  • Chris is your typical 10-handicap golfer with a familiar swing flaw - he tends to get too quick and too short in the backswing.
We take Chris through the whole journey of finding his baselines in Discovery Mode to setting up his thresholds and activating the Learning Stimuli.
This is a great process for any deWiz user to work on lengthening that backswing and improving your tempo!

It looks like an awesome device and I just purchased one today. I’m supposed to get it next week and will be downloading the app and using it very soon. I can’t wait.

Just curious, John rham has a tiny back swing and I myself shortened my back swing a lot (used to be John Daley swing) I’ve never hit the ball further, gained 20m per iron roughly, so is it not more down to tempo and firing your hips and releasing the club at the right time rather than swing length? My swing speed also went up the shorter the back swing. Or is it kind of you have that sweet spot where you can actually go to far sometimes?

Good question that we have touched on elsewhere when asked about guys like Rahm and Finau with short backswings. Despite shorter backswings, Rahm and Finau create power and speed from their strength and a very "fast tempo". HOWEVER (and you can search for both of these on the internet), even the two of them when trying to absolutely max out ball and club head speed, will take the club back significantly longer than their typical "game swing".
So, when looking at deWiz data their are two critical data points that will effect speed and distance: Length of Backswing and Start to Impact time. If you lengthen your swing, while maintaining the same Start to Impact tempo, that will result in speed. Conversely, a shorter swing, with a significantly FASTER Start to Impact time, can also result in more speed.
So yes, it's a little bit of both and finding that sweet spot. But a great way for the average deWiz user to ultimately add distance is to take your stock Length of Backswing, really exaggerate that length with the Learning Stimuli, and then turn off the Stimuli and you should find yourself somewhere in the middle of your original length and the exaggerate length.
