I love trucking in Michigan! I run an 8 axle super tanker for raw milk from farm to production facility. We have a very nice fleet of equipment.
I really dislike companies that describe electric vehicles as CO2 free or zero emissions. There are emissions during manufacture and emissions producing the electricity required.
Not true, the unicorns eat up all the C02 and shit out rainbows where they're gathered up to make free electricity. Simple as that, lol.
@@jimmartin7881 So that is how carbon credits that politicians talk about work, I thought they just threw all that money into a volcano and a cloud of fairy dust and stripper glitter puffed out to eradicate the CO2.
@@abpsd73 There's a few different processes, lol.
over the lifespan of a dump truck the battery production will definetley outweigh using diesel co2 wise
Depends on where you get your electricity. If, for instance, you get your power from coal, then buying a gasoline car is actually better for the climate. If you're powered by nuclear or other renewable, then electric cars are the way to go. But advertising wise, it refers to it's operation, not manufacture (don't be an officious ass). Whether it's a gas car or an electric, the CO2 cost of manufacture is about the same. This notion that "electric cars are aren't carbon neutral because CO2 is produced during manufacture" is both misleading and fallacious. They pay that balance off within a year or two of operation, so long as you're power grid is clean.
From being a fan of this channel so much, I already know all the soundtracks that appear, hahaha, a very good video, thanks for sharing
This new Snowrunner DLC looks nice
¡Qué bellezas pesadas!

Meanwhile all the concrete mixer truck drivers are going to be like "So you have a drop axle on your dump truck, we've been doing that for decades"
A vehicle that requires no maintenance, never going to happen, everything wears out eventually
I was wondering the same thing. While the vehicle does not emit CO2, what about the power plant generating the electricity? It looks like the dump bed is smaller and possibly uses plastic to reduce weight
@@fyrman9092 it generates its own power by going downhill fully loaded and uphill empty. They even sell excess energy back into the grid. So it actually helps lower the CO2 emissions of the grid. In other locations it would have to be charged from the grid though.

Well that told me bugger all about the extra wheels lol
For when you don't have enough wheels, and you need extra wheels.
So cool to see the eDumper in this vidéo ! my cousin is a mechanic on the eDumper, at Vigier in Switzerland
Honestly Even though that's alot of axles on these American Hualers I do love how they look.
The amount of wheels one those trucks is nuts
westernstar is best

Trucks have had drop axles for decades . Not only is it for weight but to save fuel because less axles on the ground when not needed means less friction & fuel consumption.
Where's all that electricity come from to charge those batteries? And bushings, tires and batteries don't wear? I'd love to visit this Utopia where those claims are true but sadly it's non existent.
exactly what I was going to say, how much grease and oil is in that no maintenance vehicle? lol
Thank you, was gonna say the same
After watching to the second truck dude doesnt know shit about dumptrucks
Switzerland gets most of it's power from hydro and nuclear. But the claim that it's "zero wear" is pure bullcrap. Tires and bushings need to be replaced, grease nipples need grease, bearings need to be serviced regularly, and gearboxes still use oil.
It gets it's energy from the load basically as it is transporting goods down the from the mountain. During this operation it uses regenerative braking which in turn charges the batteries. During the decent it will charge the batteries more than it uses on the way back up since it is empty. So basically during this operation and this setup it will be self sufficient with electricity.

The red coffe cup have power grip technology =)
Because if you use the more weels he can break turn around and he use some trailer like that
At 2:19 the dump truck is called; super 18 with a Strong Arm!!!
Brakes, tires, bearings, even the seat you sit in is a wear part and CO2 free? How tf? The thing made more CO2 being made than it will ever displace
Not to mention lubricants, hydraulic fluid, filters, etc...

Hola gear tech hd miguel
A lot of open strip mine operations run 24/7, so that electric truck is pretty damn useless when it sits on the charger for 8-12 hours a day.

They can help harvest cotton candy to feed them.

Where are the Yorkie bars?.
Nice to see a modern truck as Tatra Phoenix after the old American dinosaurs soon extinct! ;D
What's the resale price on an old Tatra? I guarantee I could buy 3 if I sold 1 of my dinosaur's, lol. Not that I ever would, I don't see too many people restoring Kamaz or Tatra trucks on YT or anywhere for that matter. Well maybe on the Pakistani's channel, lmao.
No maintenance? Charging batteries is maintenance. It’s daily maintenance, it sucks
You just plug stuff in overnight, it’s not hard. Nor is it maintenance.
This particular truck apparently doesn't need charging, because it re-generates more energy going downhill fully loaded than it uses going up empty. Their website says they do plug it in so they can sell the extra energy they generate back to the grid. So they basically get paid to plug the truck.
The edumper has no wear parts?

Bravo eMining, It's a beautiful thing if you're not pumping power from a diesel generator. Sustainable power. you know, the opposite of oil, gas, coal...the fossil lot, is so harmful. Soon we'll be an endangered species otherwise.

8 axle truck looks stupid. European or those dump trucks in uk with the 4 axles look so much better than the us ones
И?
2:20 Sorry, but that truck is just too goddamn ugly with that hideous dropdown axle hanging out the ass, and the extra wheels. Probably makes a lot of noise when cornering.
That is dosen't explain why the truck have extra axel come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG dont the yanks make some bloody silly trucks. look at the tatra for how it SHOULD be done. Max 37 tons on a silly tipper with SEVEN axles and then claim it is as manouverable as a semi and trailer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its Michigans wacky rules i presume, their trucks are permitted to having 11 axles in total and need to have very low ground pressure, but i think this type of drop axles are really ugly.
That's only some states where they use those POS flip axles, I haul 25 t legally on my tri axle. OR., CA. AZ, have weird bridge laws with weight regs but they have a ton of asinine laws there not just for trucks.
Such Tatra will be forbidden to operate at US roads due to excessive ground pressure per axle. Or will run only with an empty cargo bed))
What kind of stupid title of the video? I still don't know why some trucks still have an additional axle
I agree with you so I asked a truck driver who told me it extends the wheelbase of the vehicle which allows it to carry more weight . It is more or less a just work around due to laws governing weight limits . I assume there is some added stability and another set of brakes never hurts.
@@schwenk929 thx you!!
@@schwenk929 Still wierd because he has already 6 axels and so far behind I dont now how usefull it is.
@@swissix4947 google for "bridge law", it's quite clear and easy
that red american truck looks bloody stupid with all those wheels why not an 8x4 twin steer .
If I'm right your talking about the truck at 3:41 the rear tag axle and front single tri most the time just lift up and down there are some with a extra steer
The reason to be able to lift is to have weight so when the truck is empty it still has the four axles as added weight on the three and maintenance if Its over complicated it's harder for repairs and inspection on US trucks there's room to take a look at everything
because being a 4-axle truck, it will must have a 57-feet (omg!) wheelbase to carry the same 80 000 lbs, which can handle this dump.
Stupid Federal Bridge Laws
Sure, man. Wanna fall through the bridge surface?
sorry american trucks are crap .
