It makes people panic so if you’re ever using one with a group of people, you can steer the planchette to spell out Zozo to freak them out.
Yep. I was gonna comment that it's actually a 'thing'. Several things are covered on Zozo and Ouija Boards in paranormal shows and stuff. There was even a horror movie made based off it. I really dont know how someone going into this game blind with possibly little to no knowledge of paranormal stuff outside of games is supposed to know that to 'be on the lookout' for it in this game. Maybe they should have made a note for the user of what names were gonna be relevant if came across on the board in game.
I feel like there was an episode of Ghost Adventures, one of the times Zak Bagans decided a Ouija board was a great idea, where they used the Ouija board and the "ghost" spelled out ZoZo and Zak flipped out lol now I'm gunna have to see if I can find it. Wow, God's Basement is awful. A game that is SO INCREDIBLY unintuitive that you HAVE to rely on hints? The puzzles are horribly constructed too and it's chock-full of cliches. I guess you felt the atmosphere cause you played it, I was just incredibly bored and thanked god you skipped to the last "chapter". It wasn't even funny kind of bad, so it's good that you included the reviews.
The last game is definitely the best, I really liked it. Tense, gory, and reminded me of some good oldies. Exmortis at some parts for some reason. :) Btw, I thought "death metal vocalist" just before you said it, lol. :D
For context: Zozo is the supposed name of a demon that possessed a young boy using a Ouija Board who was publicly named "Roland Doe", which was a pseudonym. Parts of the story were adapted into the well known franchise "The Exorcist". So when Zozo said "Head" in response to "where are you", I think the implication is that he was possessing you.
For the first game you played, I remember watching this one Ghost Adventures episode a long time ago. There's this actual demon called Zozo. If I recall, he actually writes his name constantly over and over on Oujia Boards, thus why in game it kept saying that over and over.
God's basement is literally my teacher when she make a test, make the question so hard no one would figure it out but when you ask how to do it she'll tell you the answer

Man....Those positive reviewers talking about God's Basement definitely haven't played too many horror games....Either that or they're friends of this developer, or the developer got paid for these people to say stuff like this about the game. I'm just as baffled as John here. Also about the 3rd game....When it stated about a heavy thunderstorm crashing above, a thunderstorm started appearing where I am.
Most asset flip indie walking sims that pretend to be horror do this, sadly. These games and devs should be reported. Being allowed to buy assets is already lazy enough. They should learn their jobs and finish their studies first before asking for money for trash
Majority of them have about 4 hours on record, and are about a paragraph long and give very basic and vague praise to the game. More than likely just a bunch of people who were paid to just boot the game up and leave it running for about 4 hours (I'm guessing the average time to beat the game) and then to just write some nice things. An unfortunately common thing for these types of games.
Zozo is actually a demon and it's like a taboo thing for Ouija board users to even mention while using the board. If you let him finish spelling out his name, you'll get cursed or haunted or some shit like that idk
God's Basement is so unbelievably bad that I feel like it's actually an elaborate and really well done troll. The solutions are just so random, non-sensical and frustrating that it's like the designer just gave up and decided to see how much of people's time they could waste.
7:00 Fun fact: this is actually a penticle (not a pentagram) as it's in a circle! I've seen it a lot on tarot cards. This is a common mix up so I don't blame you. Great video! :)

John's ranting soothes my soul
*John:* _"Zozo"?!_
*A shy introverted ghost named Zozo:* :C
Im wheezing at the part when he was reviewing all the positive reviews on God's basement. So gold.
8:56 Hey, that ghost design in 100% in Phasmophobia, it's the one with the circle shape hole where face should be, with the different layers of teeth circling around from outer edge to inner middle of face hole, basically just like a Lamprey
I noticed that too!
Unity model
kudos to you or the editor for making this stream VOD feel so much like a normal upload. really enjoyable! the 3rd game in particular was good and cool
that second game had progression like a bunch of unrelated and impossible to find easter eggs
the second game i cant stop laughing from the start it was crazy af....turn on tv look at tv go down hall look at sign go back to tv...who would know to do all that lol and everytime john reads something its the different voices for me lol
It's always the main character that ends up being a murderer. Good lord stop.
John singing “where is my hairbrush” from veggie tales took me back to an obscure place in my childhood.
Now you see was great…until that end sequence….
Also why does God's basement look like an abandoned office? I thought it would resemble Heaven at least slightly
@@alexanderm.635 it's clearly where god made everything, he first made an office and then he created the world.
@@alexanderm.635 resemble heaven? Lol what's heaven look like? Lol
@@CapnLubeHandles If you're trying to start a religious debate, you're failing, because I'm not going to inflame your wildfire any further.
@@alexanderm.635 lol except im not. You said you "thought it would resemble heaven" which means you must know what heaven looks like lol.
I am SO stoked to hear The Midnight on your channel. The Midnight is an awesome group.
been looking forward to another one of these, love your content man keep it up
That bit in Now You See actually shook me. I'm weak.
Hearing the midnight music throughout a chunk of this video made me smile big I love that band
Thank you for your videos, they make my day. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE play “I’m on Observation Duty”! This game screams I need the John Wolfe experience.
The whole "zozo" thing has me dying every time I've come back to this video. Classic moment lol
The last game is definitely the best, I really liked it. Tense, gory, and reminded me of some good oldies. Exmortis at some parts for some reason. :)
Btw, I thought "death metal vocalist" just before you said it, lol. :D
Can I just freaking sayy.. we need moreee of these kinda videos. Love this series and seems like forever since we had 3 rando games
For context:
Zozo is the supposed name of a demon that possessed a young boy using a Ouija Board who was publicly named "Roland Doe", which was a pseudonym. Parts of the story were adapted into the well known franchise "The Exorcist".
So when Zozo said "Head" in response to "where are you", I think the implication is that he was possessing you.
What a nice way to spend my lunch! ☺️
I have seen this in the stream. I'll watch it again.
Thanks John!
For the first game you played, I remember watching this one Ghost Adventures episode a long time ago. There's this actual demon called Zozo. If I recall, he actually writes his name constantly over and over on Oujia Boards, thus why in game it kept saying that over and over.
The operator in the gods basement game sounds like the narrator of the pacer test in high school.
God's basement is literally my teacher when she make a test, make the question so hard no one would figure it out but when you ask how to do it she'll tell you the answer
John singing Lary the Cucumber gives me all the happiness I need for the day.
John, you were GREAT on Now You See, that game wrecks me, the art is amazing!
While everyone is mourning about the disappearance of "Hey guys, it's John!" intro, while I still long for the coveted "Greetings critical viewers!"
Yay! The best way to keep passing the covid. Still haven't got my smell and taste back but trying to keep the positive spirits. So thanks for coming to the RUclips channel even if you said that you would take a timeout from it for a while. Love your DBD streams on Twitch ❤️❤️❤️
I had the covid myself and it sucks. Hope you can feel better soon!
Appetite levels get so low due to it don’t they ?
@SunBoxesSky hopefully ❤️❤️. I'm pretty sure that I will
@@littlekitsune1 it sucks a lot. Ty ❤️❤️
@@spider-man6932 you really don't want to do much. Feels pretty bad
I feel like all those positive reviews of God's Basement were posted by friends of the game dev, or people hired to hype it up, or both, lol.
The ghost straight asked John for head HAHAHAHA
*OMG YES JOHN BACK W/ 3 SCARY GAMES* ❤️
Now imagine the true horror of finding the HQ Residential House
Man....Those positive reviewers talking about God's Basement definitely haven't played too many horror games....Either that or they're friends of this developer, or the developer got paid for these people to say stuff like this about the game. I'm just as baffled as John here.
Also about the 3rd game....When it stated about a heavy thunderstorm crashing above, a thunderstorm started appearing where I am.
markiplier played Gods Basement if I remember correctly. that might be why there's so many positive reviews
Most asset flip indie walking sims that pretend to be horror do this, sadly. These games and devs should be reported. Being allowed to buy assets is already lazy enough. They should learn their jobs and finish their studies first before asking for money for trash
Some of them sounded very alike, tbh.
They are probably paid
Majority of them have about 4 hours on record, and are about a paragraph long and give very basic and vague praise to the game. More than likely just a bunch of people who were paid to just boot the game up and leave it running for about 4 hours (I'm guessing the average time to beat the game) and then to just write some nice things. An unfortunately common thing for these types of games.
Your videos really brighten up my day. I appreciate you John.
John is a hardcore horror gamer! Here I am watching this video in total terror, and the whole video he’s just completely calm!
John - "Hello."
Ghost - "Zozo"
John - "Who are you?"
Ghost - "Zozo"
John - "Where are you?"
Ghost - "Zozo"
John - "Zozo is a fucking idiot."
Zozo is actually a demon and it's like a taboo thing for Ouija board users to even mention while using the board. If you let him finish spelling out his name, you'll get cursed or haunted or some shit like that idk
He’ll give a fat kiss to you if you do
@@eppyeppy9851oh hell yeah, Imma go smooch a demon hell yeah
Despite how annoying some parts were for you, this was a real fun watch😉Thanks John ☮️❤️
God's Basement is so unbelievably bad that I feel like it's actually an elaborate and really well done troll.
The solutions are just so random, non-sensical and frustrating that it's like the designer just gave up and decided to see how much of people's time they could waste.
7:00
Fun fact: this is actually a penticle (not a pentagram) as it's in a circle! I've seen it a lot on tarot cards. This is a common mix up so I don't blame you. Great video! :)
These streams look like a blast I need to tune in more
11:42 “It looks about 5 years old or so…”
John: “…and you’re basing that on what?”
Simple quips like this always have me cracking up 😂
Zozo had me dying on stream oh my god
I missed random horror games so much! always the best content imo.
BRUH I was just looking for something to watch to eat breakfast to.
The main character of Now You See really left that girl with her eyes gone to die. Like she was alive and everything and he was just like damn that’s kinda not my problem.
She went crazy at the end dude so it wasn’t worth helping her anyways
@@spider-man6932 I feel like saying she wasn’t worth saving and letting her die alone locked in a room of corpses because she was traumatized from being tortured isn’t exactly a fair claim
@@Randomuse456 I know , I am sorry but didn’t you see that she also started chanting the now you see ? She was mentally broken plus the protagonist didn’t know if he would be even able to escape and save himself so he probably didn’t have any hope of saving somebody else
@@spider-man6932 yea I saw that too I’m not disagreeing she went crazy at all and to be fair he did have enough on his hands as is but I was just saying “she was crazy so she wasn’t worth helping” isn’t a very good way of looking at things lol
@@Randomuse456 sorry about that but dude it was a dire situation that’s why I wrote it . Sorry if it offended you
I'm sure someone has already said it by now, but ZOZO is the name of a demon commonly associated with ouija boards. It has a few variations in spelling, including ZOSO, and the much more recognizable PZUZU depicted as the demon who possessed Regan in The Exorcist.
