I love that john went from being scared of horror games to criticizing them and now he has evolved to criticizing the decor of the buildings they take place in.
They accelerate particles to very close to the speed of light and smash them into each other. Usually to create new particles or study the fields that carry them
My interpretation of routine was that it was entirely a metaphor for living with mental health issues. For example, there are days when the protagonist is trying to go about his daily routine but he has to keep this other version of himself locked up in the basement because no one likes him, and some days he knocks you out and locks you out of the house, taking over for a day. Which I think might be reinforced by the ending's message of not dwelling on the bad days and to keep going one day at a time to make the most of the good days when they happen
What I thought as well, I’m glad someone better with words could write it out! Was actually browsing the comments for one that mentions it. Not entirely sure what the alien day represented other than forces possibly outside of your control, but I loved the contrast between the mundane reality of his routine with whatever absolute chaos was going to be outside that door. Even the calm day resonated; everything was completely fine and normal, and it was a good day, but even so you as the player are waiting for the shoe to drop and something to go wrong as the screen fades to black. The standard is something being off, so when everything is fine, you can’t feel 100% comfortable or confident that things are okay.
Yah. It's reinforced by looking back at yourself in the punch thing. They are the same avatar I'm pretty sure. The first one is him getting taken over, another one was him successfully locking it away, another was his head going wild with the aliens (or maybe him getting help with the abduction? Idk) and the one with it being a simulation since the person feels people are just experimenting on their mind for fun.
I’m glad someone else noticed the same thing. It kinda hit home for me since I struggle with bipolar disorder. Having two different versions of myself. I relate and my interpretation of being dragged then locked in the basement reminds me of hiding away from life and other people cus that negative version takes control. Being very introverted I tend to hide away when I’m not okay. Everyday feels the same for me. This game was brilliant and very well made.
To add to this thought, each day showed a possible symptom of schizophrenia. The one I found most creative was when they showed catatonia, but it didn't happen in john's playthrough. Also, I interpreted the ending, when you can see "backstage," as seeing life from a new perspective; most likely as a result from therapy.
I actually really like that the nun had that creature on her back. I thought they were just doing the lazy Tomb Raider style 3Dish graphics, so that actually caught me off guard.
Someone should make a game that starts off as a stereotypical PT clone, and then just when the player gets bored and thinks he knows what to expect -- it goes off the rails.
Routine kind of felt like it was supposed to be some sort of analogy for psychosis: going through the same routine day by day with suggestions from media around you causing you to experience odd things that are suddenly gone the next day, then eventually "reaching an end" I guess once the protag has been on their meds long enough for them to kick in so they can progress with the hope of a broader life. Also best part of the snowed-in game is when John didn't realize there was a chair stuck to the ceiling near the end
@@littlekitsune1 Therapy doesn't impact the intensity of hallucinations, sadly. Even worse is that medication doesn't work _at all_ for some people (and those that do can have horrific side-effects). Mine's only episodic, I really feel for people who experience it 24/7.
@@TakeFlightRaven Therapy can absolutely help if hallucinations are triggered more by emotions like stress. It can also help keep your hopes up until the medication can kick in. John has become so immune to horror games and scary things, if there were an intruder in his house he’d be like “see guys when you make a horror game this is exactly what not to do”
somebody shoots John after breaking into his home: "Guys, seriously? There's like no tension or build up or anything, okay fine I guess, getting right into the action. I can't be too mad about that, too many times you just prance around in an empty house for 20 minutes before anything happens so I guess this is preferable to that." Then the robber watches in awe and confusion as John collapses, where he continues to make snide remarks about the interior decorating of his own house, before finally succumbing to blood loss as he utters his final words "Y'know I've been watching a lot of HGTV as of-" *dies*
I've noticed that's how a lot of Sirenhead games start, with a character driving somewhere only to leave their car in the middle of nowhere, wasting the battery to "investigate".
In the first game when John said "their privacy is gonna get invaded when we find them missing" it reminded me of that scene from one of the Scary Movie installments where the characters are arguing about how you can't wake up dead or something like that lmao
I find it frustrating. I wear glasses, I dont find that "taking them off" so to speak makes it more entertaining. It makes me want to rub my eyes, and especially with tha pixelated filter that moves it kind of makes it feel like I've got a smudge on my glasses that I cant get off. It's easier to get used to when it's not a filter, though still not ideal.
I really enjoyed watching Routine. I think it was an illustration of mental health and being stuck in a negative loop until you get out of it, but maybe I'm reading too much into a positive and well-made little game.
Leave it to John to somehow end up with a super buggy version of Sirenhead I've seen a lot of other people get through just fine. Sours the experience, I think it would've went over more positively if it didn't break a few times over. And I just we didn't reach the end, what a pity. This looks like a newer version than the one I saw others play. Lamphead (the lit up one) didn't wander before, he just sat alongside the road mimicing a lamppost. I guess in updating the game they broke or caused issues that weren't present before.

Just discovered John's Channel , thank you RUclips Algorithm. Love horror games, love the hilarious commentaries/comments from youtubers; and this is the best recipe. John makes the unbearable indie horror into pure amusement with some genuine scare (because of John). Keep on keeping on!
Whenever I am feeling down I come to this channel. For some reason it’s only when I’m down, but that’s been increasingly as of late. You’re hilarious though, the little comments, pointing out the sillyness in these titles - it always cheers me up.
Your Sirenhead playthrough surprised me (I've seen it twice) because I haven't seen him able to get you on the tower before. Kravin also couldn't finish because of getting killed but then Gab had a REALLY odd playthrough where Sirenhead kept getting stuck on top of her but unable to hurt her. Definitely needs some tuning up, and at least a checkpoint halfway through, but otherwise I think it's really good. I would totally love to see more from the developer. But yeah, if you're able to die so easily from the enemy you need a checkpoint somewhere. And/or a way to avoid dying a bit better. He's just too fast to run away from.
56:43 that screaming girl audio is Jessica's audio from Until Dawn where she tries to prank Mike something happened to her after she stands on a fallen tree trunk...the scene has him turn around to her gone and theres the audio scream and then it cuts to another character sequence scene. so yeah that audio was stolen.
Tbh John is the only youtuber I like who makes "Random Horror Games" videos because he is so critical. No shade, but too many youtubers act fake scared and keep playing bad horror games like they are serious. I enjoy that he points out when a game is bad and just moves on with it instead of wasting our time playing a boring game
The nun looked better from the back that the front lol XD What's up with her face And John, is always nice to hear your spanish, it's actually really good for not using it so often
and yes, the first game was pretty good, made for the 2 minute horror jam. it gave me "noone lives under the lighthouse" vibes if it were expanded. just the forced glee into being eaten can be made into something much bigger, like a wicker man of " need to feed"
I'm always excited for a new John Wolfe video, but the "Hey guys" slide-in always enhances my excitement. I don't know why, sometimes I even say "hello" back. 😟
Lamphead and Sirenhead are actual two different entities in the last game! Lamphead was the one who was just kind of trudging around. Sirenhead doesn't have a light so you can't spot him as easily.
YAY! I totally gasped with happiness as soon as I seen the notification for this video. Not just because it is a new upload, but also because it is a random horror games video hee hee!
Meanwhile, back at the house, Linda has discovered a problem with the wallpaper. "I ordered wallpaper with sloths on but they sent me pandas. What am I supposed to do with pandas?! I don't think I'm gonna be able to recover from this. Out of all the things that could have gone wrong with the renovation, I would have put this at the top of my worst things that could go wrong list. I am speechless." Or something along those lines... 😂😂
Hey John. Always love seeing your videos. Glad to see you fixed the computer problem you were talking about on twitter before. This video was a 50/50 of good bad to be sure. First 2 were good then the hallway one was just uninspired, the one that used the pacify girl wanted to be a lore game but failed. The Momo game was just...something, but nothing good. And yeah I've seen other people play that Siren Head game and get glitches too. Sometimes it spawns at the beginning and gets you and sometimes it's straight up invisible and kills people. You ran into another one of the "glitches"? where it can get you on the radio tower and the gun doesn't work for no reason. I still enjoyed the video though and am looking forward to the next one.
Okay Routine was literally a life lesson, why did it touch my heart at the end lmao.... Because seriously there are people out there that are still here that could've taken their life, but still push through. I'm proud of you if that speaks to you. You have purpose on this earth.
John being frustrated by the siren head game is truly tragic because it really IS the best siren head out there. But then I habe never seen siren head camping the watch tower like that

Whenever I am feeling down I come to this channel. For some reason it’s only when I’m down, but that’s been increasingly as of late. You’re hilarious though, the little comments, pointing out the sillyness in these titles - it always cheers me up.
Hearing John talkinh in spanish is probably the best thing that happened in the 2020
Not hard to top 2020 right?
@@sancer1781 Nah, 2020 Became really boring, it's hard to find something good these days
every time you call a persian rug ugly, I almost lose it. my family has always had one in the house lol
Are you by any chance desi?
Y'know, hearing John speaking Spanish is really fun
His spanish isn't that bad actually, he just needs a bit more practice to be fluent.
@@sancer1781 Yes, his pronunciation was pretty good
Holy moly this is a long video of random horror games i love these
Hope you’re doing well John. This on the night before my day off is a blessing thanks big homie.
I can’t wait for this. Thanks John :) omg it’s more than an hour. Blessed
true
Read my mind
56:43 that screaming girl audio is Jessica's audio from Until Dawn where she tries to prank Mike something happened to her after she stands on a fallen tree trunk...the scene has him turn around to her gone and theres the audio scream and then it cuts to another character sequence scene. so yeah that audio was stolen.
Please make more of these more often! I've watched EVERY one and I cant go to sleep to your videos anymore haha! Been sub'd for years great work
Same lmao
Tbh John is the only youtuber I like who makes "Random Horror Games" videos because he is so critical. No shade, but too many youtubers act fake scared and keep playing bad horror games like they are serious. I enjoy that he points out when a game is bad and just moves on with it instead of wasting our time playing a boring game
Same! I can’t watch anyone else.
I imagine that is a monster was attacking John in real life he would just shout RUDE!!!
🤣🤣🤣
Excuse you!
The nun looked better from the back that the front lol XD What's up with her face
And John, is always nice to hear your spanish, it's actually really good for not using it so often
8:17 I almost spit out my water when he said "he looked like nothing was gonna stop him from completing science"
The genuine interest John has for the Sirenhead game for a whole 2 minutes before it turns into shit was heartbreaking
and yes, the first game was pretty good, made for the 2 minute horror jam. it gave me "noone lives under the lighthouse" vibes if it were expanded. just the forced glee into being eaten can be made into something much bigger, like a wicker man of " need to feed"
Why did HGTV John make me laugh? And why did I want more?
An hour and 16 mins? My friday is made!!!! Thank you john🤙🏼
John talking about HGTV was so spot on! Especially the bits about the tub, carpet and kitchen! 😂😂😂
as a spanish speaker, watching john talk in spanish is the best thing that could have happened today
I'm always excited for a new John Wolfe video, but the "Hey guys" slide-in always enhances my excitement. I don't know why, sometimes I even say "hello" back. 😟
"When we find them missing"
dammit John, don't go there!
how do they FIND THEM missing?! is it like waking up dead?
augh, my head hurts
@trash. Can't wait for the fuII version!
"I think we took a dip in quality from the second game to the third game"
BIG Understatement.
I am speechless."
Or something along those lines... 😂😂
Hey John, it's Creepy. Did you ever figure out the guy in "routine" was your character?
Wait I’m confused, can you elaborate?
@@seaslug2638 i guess they mean that the dude in the yard is the main character of the game. who i guess is mentally ill and hallucinates shit
Here I am grinning ear to ear about John discussing hardwood floors
What has my life come to
In "The Hallway" the model used was an asset given by Epic Games. The Character's name was Severog in their MOBA Paragon.
8:10 They totally drew inspiration from the mirrors on the James Web Telescope for that magazine cover art
John your Spanish is really good. I liked a lot listening to it.
9:59 Isn't this the same guy that did a "favour" for John in House Party? XD I guess after House Party he ended up here...
You mean Frank?? Doesn’t look like him but similiar tho
you stayin off the alcohol dude?
Or maybe it's generic_bald_dude.asset
how's it goin dude
Thank you John ❤️ perfect way to start a weekend
Thank you for saving me from my boredom. Love the videos John and im sure ill love this one too
Welcome to "random horror games", where i play random horror games.
Stares at the câmera
Okay Routine was literally a life lesson, why did it touch my heart at the end lmao.... Because seriously there are people out there that are still here that could've taken their life, but still push through. I'm proud of you if that speaks to you. You have purpose on this earth.
Johns reaction to the third game was gold. He just said "no don't do this" lol.
These games look like one of those game devs students' side projects during the 2nd semester. And John is the professor grading these games
Ain't seen the Wolfe-man in a while, glad to watch another long video; just don't try to burn yourself out.
John being frustrated by the siren head game is truly tragic because it really IS the best siren head out there. But then I habe never seen siren head camping the watch tower like that
