  • Hey everybody just my take on the Big 3 upgrade on my 2008 Dodge Dakota electrical charging system. The main cables that I upgraded are alternator to inline fuse, then inline fuse to fuse box and positive battery terminal to fuse box and then Negative to chassis ground, I used 1ga cable wire from my local junkyard out of an old dodge charger, and dodge magnum, the crimping tools I bought from amazon and also the terminals and heat shrink with glue on the inside, I also used a 250amp fuse breaker also from amazon. Hope this video helps anybody trying to upgrade their vehicles charging system, thing that I had to modify were fuse box cover to fit the cables and ring terminals just be patient and take it slow.
*******Disclaimer this video is for educational purposes only I am not held responsible for anybody else trying to modify their own vehicles charging system and am not held liable, modified at your own risk*****************

Truly. Sometimes it seems that 05+ daks are disregarded over the previous gen daks.

06 here too man. It's for better flow and ground of the electrical system help it run better voltage. Ive got my truck done with 2/0 welding cable. I ran power and ground front to back for the system.

@@kingboom13 Thanks! I'm thinking I might do it if I end up putting in a winch and/or a fridge in mine. Looking at a t case rebuild, some tie rods and a front wheel bearing first lol

Hi. The motor will have 10 or 12 gage wire on the block but you can put your ground in any boot hole you wish. I used the bolt for the alltnater so it is dearly grounded to the bat. I put a long bolt throw my bat turm along with the cheesy stereo and body ground. It is a grate thing to do . I'm glad I did

It is hard to take someone unionyon with a smoke hanging out of their ear!!. I did the same thing to my 2000 Dakota. It worked out great!!. But I have a lot of electronica so I still have to up grade the alt hard to a 250 amp!!. I hope it will run all the stuff.

Which motor do you have? I have the v6 and need to do this for my next radio install. I'd like to know where the motors ground wire is. Personally haven't looked but figured I'd ask.

I have a HO 250a alt, all upgraded wires and 3 batts but I rarely change above 14.4 because of the PCM regulator. It sucks. Anyone else have this problem?
