    Great video! 2 other minor differences: Mach E has a start button, Tesla does not. When you open the door to the Tesla, the car is on, the display is lit and active, you get in and just start driving. With the Mach E, you get in, press the start button and then the screens come to life and you can start driving. Also, the Mach E has a volume dial on the center screen. This makes it easier for the passenger to change volume. Tesla volume can be changed on the center screen by pressing the correct buttons, and with the left scroll on the steering wheel. Not huge differences but worth noting.

    As always, funny and informative upload! I own a Model 3 and a Mach-e, I love both vehicles but the Ford really need to get rid of SYNC4 and get on updates. It is sluggish, navigation acts weird at times and is not the greatest in general. It is a shame as it is a fantastic vehicle. The Mach-e is much more quieter and more comfortable than the Tesla, but so far behind in some aspects like charging, overall technology and system updates.

      I think you've just swayed me from the Mach-E. I bought my wife a MY 7 seater and the tech makes the difference, including the native Tesla apps for iOS and Android. I was seriously considering the Mach-E, but I think I'm going to go with a Model 3 Extended Range. 353 miles of range (ok, Tesla stretches the truth on this one), and a proven platform.

      We own a model Y and my good friend owns the Mache. Mache has great steering whereas the Y is tighter in it’s response with a stiffer suspension. However, when taking corners the Model Y hugs at all speeds. Mache on the other hand does a lot of body rolling. So Mache’s handing is really dialed in at regular speeds but at high speeds the Tesla excels making it the most fun to drive.

    As a Model Y owner, we went to look at the Mach-E as an alternative for my wife’s C300… It was a pretty Red color with the grey interior. Car looks great from the OUTSIDE, when we climbed into the Mach-E we were un-impressed with how it looked in comparison to the C300 and the Model Y. Since I am a client of the Ford Dealership for our business, they allowed us to take the car without the typical chaperone, we drove the car for about 1 - 2 miles and instantly decided that the Ford was meh 😕. The acceleration was not comparable to my Model Y, and overall decided NOT to get the Mustang. ( we ended up buying a Performance Model 3 instead.)

    Apple car play is a must for us, was 100% the reason I put my deposit down on the Mach E Extended AWD - which with the 2022 is now 91KWh and so the range difference is almost negligible. I do worry about the reliance on 3rd party chargers and the sheer lack of them in Arizona.

    It's an excellent presentation. Now, let's get to some important questions .How many people use the space in their Y's? Both vehicles were able to fit the stroller and the case in their frunks. Both vehicles had enough room in them for passengers although the Y had more. How often do you use a supercharger also? How do you use the tech? I'm not terribly interested in statistics as measuring points as does it have enough of what's needed for when someone uses a product. As far as infotainment goes, I'd like less emphasis on it and more on strategically placed mixes of buttons and information. Both of these vehicles have really large screens and maybe I prefer horizontal ones.
    The cars weren't driven. In a car there are car-related aspects that many care about. Road noise, comfort over rough surfaces and dynamic qualities. How do the doors shut and does the body and chassis feel solid. As far as acceleration goes, I care way more about merging onto highways and overtaking than I do 0-60. I rarely have to accelerate hard from a standstill. As far as charging goes, 10-80 percent and how many miles one gets is the most important stat at chargers. But working chargers are important and at least in the USA, there's a lot of work to be one at non-Tesla superchargers.

    When I got my daughter the M3 the first place we charged was a 3rd party charger at a hotel next to the restaurant we dined in. After coming back almost 2 hours later. We got like 36 miles of range. 3rd party chargers are slow. I can't imagine living with a Tesla with Superchargering capability. There is a reason Tesla has a buy back policy and Ford doesn't. Tesla knows you will love there cars. I highly recommend renting a non Tesla EV before committing to one.

    I'm torn between the two, have you experienced issues while charging on the road with your Mach E where it cuts the charging rate down to around 12kW once it hits 80%? I've read from several people that they're experiencing that issue, and that would be a show stopper for us. Thanks.....

    • @sethkeighley6750
      @sethkeighley6750 3 года назад +1

      Not an issue so much as a characteristic? They say will be bumped higher with Ota update but yeah kind of annoying. Although charging to 80 works fine for us. 95 percent of charging is at home.

    • @EVandChill
      @EVandChill  3 года назад +1

      Hey John! I agree with Seth, it’s not an issue but rather a deliberate mitigation factor to preserve the battery. Every EV manufacturer slows DCFC as it nears “full” but some are better than others. For example, an Audi E-tron is able to hold a faster charge up to 85% before tapering off whereas Tesla starts tapering off significantly at 80%. I will say that 12kW for the Mach-E is pretty slow when compared to others.
      If getting the last 20% is that necessary for you when traveling, you may be disappointed by all available EV options due to the slow charging and amount of extra time you will be waiting vs 0-80%.

    Great video! It's probably too late, but two more things that would be great to see compared:
    1) view from the rear view mirror to show visibility without the use of cameras
    2) the traffic-alert systems in each vehicle:
    a) when backing out of a parking space, what systems are in place to warn you about vehicles/pedestrians?
    b) when pulling into a parking space, what systems help you get parked without hitting something?
    c) when changing lanes, how does the vehicle warn you about vehicles that may be in your blind spots?
    The overhead camera view of the Mach-E looks great. I know that the Tesla allows you to see the various camera views while you're driving, does the Mach-E? I believe the Mach-E has cross-traffic alerts in both the front and the back to warn of traffic coming from the sides, does the Tesla?

If I were you--and I'm clearly not--I would drop "you guys" from my vocabulary . . . or at the very least I would only use that expression, maybe, a dozen times during a video. But not in every sentence. Honestly, I think the vid is well done for the most part, and you have imparted a large amount of information, and I appreciate that. What I've heard (and so far, I've only driven a Tesla Model 3, which I really liked) is that the Mustang is a car with lots of e-tech, and that the Tesla is a computer that functions pretty well as a car. If you are an audiophile, installing aftermarket speakers is probably a good idea.
      For wheels, it just depends on what size you decide on. Since you are going with the MME CR1, you could lose some miles by going with aftermarket wheels and still be okay. Going up to 20” and you will probably lose somewhere between 15-30mi depending on style, fitment, tire size, etc. I love seeing the MME with 21” or 22” but not sure if the extra decrease in range is worth it.

    The Mach-E was impressive considering its a NEW model and in its first year.
    Like a typical Legacy Auto manufacturer its first model year will have bugs needing to be fixed.
    This is a good sign for Ford that the Mach-E and F-150 Lightning will help it to successfully transition to EV.
    They are the ONLY ones doing this in time IMO.
    GM should have been much further along... but they have done nothing but sabotage themselves and drag their feet.
    The rest aren't even worth talking about... Americans aren't going to go out of their way for European EVs.
