  • Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together.
The Dravidian languages are spoken by 250 million people, primarily in southern India, northeast Sri Lanka, and southwest Pakistan, with smaller groups in other parts of South Asia. India recognizes six Classical languages, four of which are Dravidian: Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The most widely spoken Dravidian languages include Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Brahui, Tulu, Gondi, and Coorg.
This video is created for educational, language awareness, and language preservation purposes. It aims to provide valuable insights and knowledge to viewers, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of different languages and their unique characteristics. By raising awareness about linguistic diversity, the video seeks to foster a greater respect and recognition for various languages, particularly those that are endangered or underrepresented. Additionally, it contributes to the preservation of languages by documenting and sharing linguistic knowledge, thus ensuring that these languages and their cultural heritage are not lost to future generations.

That's why I said that, most languages evolve by just taking a different route to achieve a simpler, more convenient mode of speech. If u look at any reconstructed proto-language, or even Latin fot example, u will find that the words are almost always longer than those of the languages that evolve from them.

Tamil is really old have written historical record as far as 400 bce, even burning urns form adichanallur have Tamil inscriptions in it. It is of 900 bce. Most scholars believe Tamil directly descended from harappan language.
