ALL the other art/relics that were saved were taken by the Chinese nationalist party to Taiwan so it wouldn't be destroyed by Mao and the communist regime - in those times literally ALL art, music and film was destroyed and banned the only thing that was allowed was propaganda art/music..they completely annihilated their culture. its only now the communist party is changing its tune and instead of taking the blame for the lack of historical artifacts which was mainly their fault.. they like to blame it all on other countries errors done hundreds of years ago creating further division and hatred for the western world.

As a Chinese national I am not supportive of these heists, but I do think of them as kind of "cool", that these people just came in and did their job without hurting or killing anyone. But I do think that these billionaires (or whoever funded the heist) has definitely seen too much importance in artifects instead of the livelihood of people.
Yes my dear Watson, really smart indeed. Consider these cheeky maneuvers advanced political plays that would expose the crooks as hypocritical if they ever dared to speak up. Bloody good show, & not just a show of political wits, but of ironic “thumb-nosery”. Nothing to see here, carry on. I’m sure the rightful rescuer’s know their way around “the land of embarrassment & breakfast”. Someone must have taught them to “never, never, never give up”.
@@martiddy Well, right NOW it belongs to China, since they took it back. Your analogy about how Mongolians wouldn't have the rights to take their territory back actually only applies to the British. It's also the same argument your doctor made when you were born and he chopped your nuts off.
Can we, as Europe, then also return the millions of immigrants that came to our countries after their home countries got independence, because they didnt want to lose their European nationality? I’d call it a great deal to be very honest.
In order to steal from an empire with impunity, you have to be an empire, preferably more powerful. Just like the British back in the day. So not all countries are allowed to do that. It might be an act of historical justice, but the basic law of might makes right is as true now as it was then.
"Overtime, many of these Chinese relics (*Looty not included*) made its way to museums across Europe." While watching that I laughed because if he didn't include that statement "(Looty not included)" it would've been so funny to see a dog from the 1860's in a MUSEUM.

I know this video is old but some new information has surfaced surrounding this topic. Merely a month after this video was released some of the loot from the Chinese Pavilion heist in Stockholm was recovered. In September of 2019, the police busted a fence trying to sell the items, still in Sweden. Therefore it's very unlikely that the Chinese billionaires or the government would be the ones carrying out these heists. Yes, the reoccurcing theme is probably not a coincidence but the fact that some of the items were still in Sweden almost 10 years after the heist would indicate that something like that is inaccurate

You seem to choose britain specifically because we are the best with the stuff we took, we put it on offer for everyone else to see completely for free and the only thing you guys do is turn into thieves. How respectable. If Britain was the only country with stolen stuff I would also be requesting we return it. Why doesn’t china lead the way and give back everything the foreigners consider part of their cultural legacy?
Never ask a man his salary, a woman her age and the British where their museum artefacts came from. Btw, the large diamond on the queen's crown, the kohinoor diamond was looted from india. The queen literally wears a symbol of their historic cruelty.
Koh-i-noor was given to the British in a treaty, it had many different previous owners despite the indians, its origins are unclear and it has been claimed by other countries as well. It's not unequivocally Indian and it was definitely not looted.

Not really stolen when they earned it.
Nimori Kandara and the Chinese earned it back, your point? Opium Wars started since the British smuggled drugs into China. Now the Chinese are reclaiming their own stuff? What’s wrong with that. I really hope that the Chinese are the ones who stole it so that they reclaim what is rightfully theirs.

Title: This is The Greatest Art Heist in Chinese History
Ancient Tomb Raiders: *Let us introduce ourselves*
hah is this a Daomubiji reference
@@lily4351 ehmm,no but I'm curious to what that is?
@@joyphobic Ohhhhh there's an extremely famous novel series in China called Daomubiji (it's been translated as well). Nearly every youth in the country has read them. They're big on grave robbing culture, ancient artifacts and mythological creatures that were rumored to haunt ancient graves when coffins and tombsites are violated. It's amazing. Mayhaps one of the biggest fandoms in China today.

The book names (and i'm guessing some place/people names) are beautifully poetic and aesthetically perfect in Chinese, but when translated they sound a bit cheesy lmao...('Cavern of the blood zombies' and 'Palace of doom' sounds like the title of an Adventure Time episode) But i'm sure the novels are still awesome! Enjoy
The moment I heard 'Chinese art only' I knew the intention, We Indians feel same that Europeans took away our arts, sculptures etc including the 'Kohinoor' diamond on British Monarch's crown.
Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately since the brits took over the world back then, our ancestors were in less power. If only theres a more respectable way to get them back
@@cherri_tsuuuu Like what? Paying 100 million USD or more for what was forcefully taken from them in the past? Shame on these museums keeping the things for display as if it were theirs. What they should do is create replicas and return the original back to the rightful owners. That's respectful

It’s all of Asia working in cooperation to get thier stuff back
you have to remember during Maos so called 'great leap forward' china ITSELF actually destroyed all their ancient relics, burned books, art and texts AND destroyed their palaces.. if the British hadn't taken these pieces of art they would actually be gone forever.
Roman 213, since when does ban music and film have to do with stuff being stolen from other people?
BadUploadScheduleツ I’m sorry butttttttt you spelled “their” wrong

It’s called conquering
In Europe's defense,
There comrades did just get brutally tortured and killed in the biggest violation of war by doing so to the European agents there on a treaty

@@isaactuberoso4443 they got brutally murdered because china was angry about Europe's illegal selling of opium into their country, it's making their people crazy. example if a drug cartel sends a diplomatic and hoping that country would legalize cocaine to be sold to there country, i'm pretty sure the diplomat would tortured/ jailed as well. so sorry about murdering your diplomats. now let me hear your excuse aka Europe's defense on why Europe rob, slave, and looted Africa and india. were your diplomats got tortured thre as well? lmao

In order to steal from an empire with impunity, you have to be an empire, preferably more powerful. Just like the British back in the day. So not all countries are allowed to do that. It might be an act of historical justice, but the basic law of might makes right is as true now as it was then.

Or the Chinese billionaires/government took what they wanted and let the middlemen dispose of the rest?
