Loving my DeWiz (though my first one died within a week…second one will arrive tomorrow)…but, the data is amazing…One of my peeves though, is with the tempo aspect…if I don’t complete my swing fast enough, the device will not record my swing and I’ll get an error…I understand it’s ideal to be close to a 3:1 ratio tempo, but I could have a backswing like Hideki, and still have a 3:1 ratio…apparently if my backswing is longer than 1.3 seconds, it doesn’t read a swing…Sometimes, I’m working on something separate from tempo, like my IDDx or IDDy and need to do it at a slower swing…would be nice if the device would still capture the swing if not that fast….That said, completely agree with you guys on tempo and speed of swing…I used to have a faster backswing, but had both hips replaced, shoulder surgery, and back issues…so, been playing with a much slower swing speed…and have been very inconsistent. I have used the Tour Tempo (I’m usually a 24/8 tempo), and now DeWiz, and once you do it for a while, your brain gets used to it…you used the bicycle analogy…that’s how I explain it to people…faster backswing means fewer things will get your club off plane…AND, a faster swing back forces you to start your forward weight shift before the backswing is completed, which you must do to hit the ball with any consistency…Great stuff!!!

I have a recommendation now that you guys brought it up…Max hand speed element. Totally agree it is critical to the swing…However, what is equally critical is how much hand speed you shed between that point and impact (indicates how much you’ve transferred to the head of the club). Is there a way for the DeWiz to show that number without having to go to the replay and then moving the slider? Been using both DeWiz and TourTempo…both great products and makes total sense…word of caution though with speed up backswings, people need to make sure to properly brace in that backswing or else you get the dreaded sway that can kill your swing…work on that core!!!

If my tempo is 2:1 even with the longer clubs, what should I do; slow my backswing down, or fasten my downswing to get to 3:1?

I had the same issue. I was constantly 2.2, 2.3. The fix was pretty easy. Stay tall and deep all the way to the top of your backswing, just hip tilt as usual. Don’t squat until the very last, when you are beginning your downswing. I went from 2.2 to 2.8 immediately. I learned this from Mike at Athletic Motion Golf.

Maybe off topic, but can’t help but wonder about working thru bag in practice and swinging in tempo and faster with wedges and shorter irons? Maybe just adapt swing length? Seems that swinging faster and longer is easier with longer clubs and woods? Answered later in video 👌 PENDELUM SPEED
