An upgraded chassis like the m2c 7075 chassis is essential for extreme bashing BUT you still need a 'give' point or this can happen as can be seen in the video. In my opinion if the car had a stock bullhead, then that would have failed and saved the rest of the car, and bulkheads are cheap. Making everything solid will mean you just destroy more expensive parts. This crash destroyed the chassis, alloy bulkhead and other parts. Alloy parts are good when strategically placed, but just making the whole rig aluminum will not make it stronger, you are taking away flex and adding wight. Alloy arms for example are a 100% no for me!
I do all the expensive testing so you don't need to! Sub and smash the bell so you don't miss future durability tests!

I feel like Kev is the type of person who, despite having the resources to build incredibly fast and powerful cars, holds back some at races. Like, he could probably blow the other rigs out of the water but hes a good sport so the kids and other racers can still have fun. Thats class that money can't buy. ❤

I would think it's valuable information for the guys that make the after market replacement pieces. Kevin shows them where the weak spots are.

I totally agree, try to put it in a real life prospective. I mean a 1/10 scale truck doing 70 mph is much like a full size doing 350 mph so just imagine what a full size truck would look like after going 350mph and jumping off a cliff reaching 300 to 500 feet in the air and landing on its rear end??? I mean really take a min to think about that!!! There would be nothing left of it I mean really it would disintegrate on impact but not these trucks nope they take that licking and keep taking so imagine how strong they would need to be in real life it's actually un imagine able if only we could invent a real life truck that could take that beating, go that speed, jump that high and be that strong omg it would be the superman of trucks. Build it and they will come (nae they will buy and omg they would pay 🤑💰💵💸🪙👑💎🤑
@@timwegman5776 i know what you mean, but physics change with size, a full size truck probably physically cannot stand that. I remember seeing a Kurzgesagt video about that, not related to RC but still packed with information!

Kev I have to say you are one of the best and realest Bashers on the Tubes, on top of that you're a stand up guy, a good sport that shows absolute dedication to the hobby. It's pretty admirable the way you treat the youngsters as equals making them feel they are capable and they have a place in the world of Bashing R/C's priming them for a future of full sends and tumble wumbles. When you crash directly on the end of the chassis like that from that high up it doesn’t matter what your using it’s going to break.great video Kev great entertainment 👊🏻💪🏻😎👍🏻
That's because all RC chassis are essentially 2D, like sheets of paper... push on the end hard enough and it will fold. They could be designed to be MUCH stronger using a single piece of machined high-grade aluminum in a 3D cage-like shape.
Kev is the best RC enthusiast in the world. Spends so much time and money building these rigs and then let's other people destroy them. Brilliant 👏

3:24 Did you fix the shims on the wrong side of the bulkhead and bearing?
They're supposed to space out the bearing between bearing and diff.
It doesn’t matter if you shim it on the outside of the bearing or the inside. Either way is correct. A lot of the RTR’s come with the shims on the outside. But that is one of the downsides of shaming on the outside is the possibility of a miss alignment. But either way does the job just have to be a little more cautious on the outside
I wonder if a chassis made of spring steel would be good. It would be heavy but it could have some bend in order to take hard landings but not stay bent.
Hey Kev! I learned my lesson with aluminum with my first Slash 2wd, I went crazy on Integy aluminum parts. I replaced The chassis and all the parts I could with aluminum😂 Everything bent and snapped🤣
I did the same shit and made it a total piece of garbage that breaks everytime I drive it

Hi kev been watching for a while now, just retired from engineering, another way i found for removing snapped studs, similar to what you did, i use too weld a nut on the inside to the stud this also works...just a thought.

Really interesting.. I was looking at getting the Bulkheads and leaving the arms as the weak point but never really considered such a hard rear landing like that... do have big cushy bumpers on it but that was a rough one
Dont hesitate to get them based off this. Doesn't matter what RC it is or the mods it has, nothing would be able to withstand a landing like that....nothing.

That welding idea was really good to get the screw out
With many engines and cylinder heads being aluminum now using steel bolts, it's used a LOT by mechs to get broken manifold bolts out. One cool trick is to hold a steel nut over the bolt and fill the inside of the nut up with mig wire.

Do it mate! You won't regret it,trust me. I was into it when I was 14/15/16 ( I'm 46 now ) But like you I stumbled across Kevin's videos and I remembered how I used to love it years ago, so I went out and bought an rc car (for my son ! Well that's what I tell the Mrs lol 😆)
But it is a great hobby and my 9 year old loves it ,so I got him an rc for his birthday and we have so much fun together it's great.
It's definitely worth doing and there are some great cars at reasonable prices.
Obviously it all depends on your budget, but if it's your first car and you don't want to spend a fortune just to see if you're into it or not then I'd recommend WLTOYS 124017 version 2,costs about £120 with two 2s lipo batteries and does over 40 mph. It's a great first car,really fast and really cheap for a 40mph rc car.

You can't actually. Your POV is so narrow you can't see properly. You also have to remember that if they're doing 30 mph, at 1/10th scale that's about 300 mph...you can't react that quickly so close to the action.
Think of a chessboard: can you see what's happening better from looking at the entire board or from the view point of a pawn?
@@muskokamike127 It works so well with drones flying at ridiculous speeds. Our sister company is a drone company and they have fpv and have also filmed races rhat have the drones almost racing off the ground at well over 30mph..probably hitting double that. What's different?

In my opinion you should have removed one of the shims you added to the diff, it definitely seemed to tight as you were rotating it, my rule with gear meshes is better a tiny bit loose than too tight, especially with a car that fast because as the diff heats up the tolerance will get tighter.
I like the new slamming stuff onto the car cuts of film. I like slamminrc! hahaha

But all of the installed strongness, there is always a way to break stuff you can see. You only need to give the controller to the *correct* person 😅

One of your shims didn’t make it all the way inside the differential case
He must have to take short cuts i find myself doing same , by time he notice tuned it be broken or on the shelf lol can spend all day on one rc never get anything done . I have back log of repairs and tuning diffs going on back burner

There's a reason the X-Maxx works so well: there is just so much give in the entire platform. I had a Kraton 6S modded to the gills from each time it broke, and it just continued to break all the time because there was always a new weak spot.

I honestly prefer the stock center brace, allows a bit of flex on my XL type builds, and it has plastic ends that can break away under extreme load..... But nothing could have prevented this honestly 😱

I honestly think the tower to tower brace causes more harm than good. If you already have the m2c chassis, shock towers, and chassis braces then all that should do the trick.

Hey kev love the video, I’m thinking maybe the alloy bulkheads are still a good idea but maybe run stock plastic chassis braces!? I feel that m2c chassis is enough support to run a stock brace just for that little bit of flex, would a plastic brace perhaps had enough flex to save your bulkhead or chassis in the situation!?
Dont really think you should run the center tower brace from CRCU with the beefcake kit (?)

hey kev i don't think the mods did that, i think you just over estimated its durability. perhaps finding a meter that can record hight and then log heights and the types of landings, whether it's pavement or grass, then how it landed, on all fours or a nose dive, then record the damage. then you could start to put together videos showing the best mods for each rc car. with price ranges and durability ranges

This truck is so sweet. I've been messing around with my axial crawlers but man I'm ready to bash you know what i mean, so I have the opportunity to purchase a Traxxas Maxx with the "X-MAXX" electronics meaning all the 8s stuff "motor/ESC" but the truck is still the smaller Maxx. He wants 700 but I can get him to 550 maybe less (450$) what do you think? Is it the same having the high speed ESC and motor in the smaller truck? My thoughts are it's better to bash with the smaller truck and more opportunities to drive it. What is everyone thoughts should I jump on it or pass it up. It's a real deal I can buy RN but should I????

Rebuilt my jato this last weekeend, and was tuning...ran 50 mph in a short run (verified by my Dragy 2.0) but before I could stop i just hit a small turn, pulled a slight wheelie.....BASHED into a 4x4 mailbox post. Needless to say the entire front came off and the dragy landed 50+ feet away. Time for more parts!! Your investing in these cars makes me want to as well.... LOL I am positive I broke most everything
Nah, the title is misrepresentative of what "destroys" your Rc's. These ARE some of the best mods currently available to the RC market and some of the best mods for your RC's. However, at the end of the day you still have to be a capable DRIVER and can't expect your RC's to survive driving like a total JACKASS!? If you launch your RC's 70ft into the air and then land them on the nose or tail, it doesn't matter what it's made of!?

I like GOOD plastic with some aluminum links, steering and some bracing if needed.
This title is misleading, "this mod will destroy your RC car" should read as "This Landing will destroy your RC card. A landing like that will destroy even the "precious" Xmaxx and I own one.
