    I just had this same problem on a 2019 escape 2.0L Ecoboost. It suddenly happened and I was monitoring the temperature on live data beforehand and it was showing like 85C so it was not really hot but the temperature gauge was showing hot and I had that same overheat message. The temperature gauge would not go back down even after being shut off for a while. The coolant level was fine and the fans were running as this happened. The only way I could get the car to drive again (it was in limp mode) was to clear the codes. Then the temperature hand went back to normal right away and the car was driving perfect afterwards. Prior to this happening I was having a hesitation with a quick flashing engine oil light when I was starting out from a stop. Since this happened that issue went away. I’m not sure what the issue is with this vehicle as last week I had 2 codes for the 2 camshaft position sensors after getting a hesitation with the flickering oil light but that went away too. It seems I have some electrical issue causing problems. I don’t even know if changing this sensor will fix it.

    Did this to a 2018 escape 1.5l last year. Getting ready to do the same replacement again. These engines are junk from the factory. They leak coolant into the cylinders. We've been using gasket sealer trying to get as much mileage as possible. I guess everyone needs a hobby. This vehicle is ours. Shame on Ford for knowingly releasing an engine they knew was going to fail prematurely at the owners expense.

    Just happened to my 2017 2.0L. If you have a reader you can clear the code and turn the car on. It will return but your car will be on.

      To this day I wonder what would happen if I would just cleared the code first before replacing the sensor.

    • @tmoripper6142
      @tmoripper6142 Год назад

      Later the code didn't return after clearing and letting sit for 6 hours before a tow truck took it to the dealership. However after they replaced the sensor the code returned while we were on the express way randomly maybe 250 miles later. It put the car in limpmode. Dealership is replacing PCM now. Will have to wait about 3 weeks for a new one. Fun times.

      It's been a year since I've replaced my sensor, I put 20k+ miles already on my Escape, code didn't come back.

      @@VasylGladundid yours happen suddenly and did you have any drivability issues prior to getting the message such as a hesitation? I’m not sure if the sensor is in the same location on a 2.0 L but it probably is. Your video is great, thanks! I would not have been able to drive mine if I I did not have a code reader to clear the codes as the temperature gauge would not move off hot until I cleared the 1299 codes and then it went out of limp mode after doing that.

      I am missing the connection between leaking coolant and cylinder temperature sensor. Here's the link below how I found a leak in my cooling system maybe this will help you, reality is cooling system have more than one hose so there are many possible situation for coolant leak.

    Hi I have P1299-00 code on my Ford focus 2015 plate
    What shall I do? High engine temperature msg came up on dush and car went on limp mode. I have reseted the code and now car is running fine. I have changed the coolent sensor and termostat. So it cant be those two. If I keep driving without any further check would that be any problem? Thanks in advance

    • @VasylGladun
      @VasylGladun  2 года назад

      If you cleared the code and car's running fine you don't have to worry about it. If the problem is still there it will pop again. P1299 is head temperature sensor, so I don't see the connection to why you have changed the thermostat and coolant sensor.

  • @eugenecurley5328
    @eugenecurley5328 2 года назад

    So what your saying is that after I changed out the high engine temperature sensor and coolant temperature sensor and thermostat assembly I should restart the code for which I didn't do

    • @eugenecurley5328

      That's what I had to do. Code did not clear itself automatically after I replaced sensor. I had to clear it manually

      How do you manually clear the code?

    • @VasylGladun

      The code reader that I'm using providing the option clear pending codes. So what I meant even though problem already fixed Ford automatically is not clearing that code. You have to go through the code reader and actually clear the code using that option by yourself

    Hello,
    I own a 2014 Ford Escape 1.6 L- FWD, My engine failed due to being out of time. I order a used engine with 94000 miles on it, the engine was in working condition before being removed, I had it installed by a mechanic at a shop. However, within 1 minute of the car being started, there is a notification on the screen that read: High Engine Temperature Stop Safely. Upon scanning the following code came up P1299 Cylinder Head Over-temperature Protection Active. The coolant level sensor, the coolant temp sensor, and the Cylinder Head Over-temperature Protection sensor were replaced. The shop also reset the PCM however the issue is still there. The engine does not overheat while it is running from the data received on the tech computer. So far the tech at the shop told me the issue is electric and he will continue to work on it. My car does not have a remote start and is out of warranty.
    I would appreciate any opinions on resolving this issue.

      @VasylGladun  2 года назад

      Wow. This is way above my skills. My philosophy is to try myself as far as I can understand the process after that I go to certified dealer. I understand that not all dealers have high quality mechanics, but I guess I was lucky enough to find a good one in my area. It's always a bit more money, but in my case they always find problem faster and they give 2 years warranty. Sorry couldn't help you on this. Good luck
