I own Walmart hex rubber dumbbells from 10 to 100 lbs. I don't have any problem with any of them. However, I don't drop my dumbbells. In my opinion, anyone who drops any kind of weight equipment-- which includes barbells and kettlebells-- is putting the equipment and floor at risk of being damaged.
Shiwaku, agreed on the DB and KB, but barbells with bumper plates are meant to be dropped. The DBs for home use would be great, but it is hard to control them in commercial use. Appreciate the thoughtful comment!
My walmart dumbells are perfect for me. I don't drop them. I do need to weigh them, though. My 35s are visibly different in size, both length and width, and they don't twist.
All dumbbells with rubber ends will do that over time. There is and easy fix to fix them. I have used thredlock and JB weild. But it's still not best to drop them.
For my own personal use of just doing curls, chest presses, and shoulder presses I don't think I will ever damage the cheapest of dumbbells. And yet I really want to get the Rogue ones instead of the Amazon ones which are half the price. If I'm honest with myself I'm just being a brand whore.
The hex dumbbell’s I got from Walmart were the cap style not rubber. The 80’s were bobbling…and the 90’s were worse! I took them all back and went with Rep Fitness. I paid more, but lifetime warranty, and don’t have to worry about having that above my chest or head. They last a lifetime, so pay for quality.
This review should have been Rogue vs York vs some other high quality dumbbells, but not Walmart. Anything bought at a Walmart or similar store is meant for home use, not gym use. That should be pretty obvious! Having said that, if that wasn’t obvious, then this video makes that obvious!
Hey Marc, I am the guy in the video. I guess you are referring to the size of my arms? You know better than to judge strength off someones size! Never been into the body building thing...
They got loose from being dropped many times. When that happens I'm sure you can put lock tight on the threads and screw it back on and it won't unscrew anymore unless you really abuse them.

Wow! I didn’t know dropping heavy weight on the floor can cause damage, you must be captain obvious!
@@hanguyen5101997 He prolly lifts lightweight so he can control the weight instead of dropping it. No pain no gain
Your not lifting heavy enough 😂

I prefer the smaller dumbell at the same weight. I don't drop dumbells either . I put them back on the rack.
Nice! I definitely see your point with the smaller ones.
Hello which of these hex dumbbells between the 3 won't break apart and have a better grip? I got that the Walmart ones break
is it normal that a set of hex dumbels wheight differently? I have two 20 kg, one of the weights 20.2 kg and one weights 19,8 kg? Any ide why?
Great review. Just bought my Rogue ones because they were all that were available
Appreciate the support Jazz. Sounds great! Let us know how you like it.

Not true many of the good ones are welded so it’s all about quality. You pay more to get better attachments

i have 10-50 in 5lb increments walmart dumbbells..no issues yet..although i dont drop and throw mine.
Thats great! Yeah the abuse they take in a gym setting adds up. Glad they are working out for you. Certainly much cheaper from WalMart!
is the rubber smell that bad ??

Pay for quality! Great advice, I agree.
All three brand dumbbells are made in China, I know and visited all their manufacturers in China, the biggest problem is all have huge pungent odour
Our purpose of exercise is for health, but the huge odour destroys all
I love the smell but yes youre right the smell is rough and doesnt go away
It goes away. My whole gym is rubber mats rubber dumbbells and bumper plates. Not a hint of smell once they air out

So whats your saying is"BUY CHEAP PAY TWICE".
The exact opposite of that actually! : )
This guy must sell dumbbells. Definitely doesn't use them

Well they gave him a free shirt! 🤣 Just playing he looks like a strong dude.
I bet he loosened it because they don't come like that
