If you want to reduce temps even further. you can lower Core ratio and that eventually lets you under volt it even further, I wanted to not lose the default multi core Ratio 5.5GHz and that's the least possible for my silicon, curious to know your results and if you need any help don't hesitate to write here.

I'm very lucky to have seen this video.
    Today is 08.08.2024.
Intel's issues with processors and BIOS updates probably started about 2-3 weeks ago.
    I have a 14700K processor
Asus Rog Strix Z790-E Gaming Wifi II motherboard
    I use a 360MM liquid cooler
Currently, I have the latest BIOS update downloaded from Asus's website and I am using Intel's default settings.
Despite this, whenever I ran any CPU stress test, almost all performance cores were thermal throttling and hitting 100 degrees.
After making the settings mentioned here, I saw a maximum of 75 degrees in the XTU stress test. This is amazing.
I did three tests in XTU: normal CPU, AVX, and AVX2.
The normal CPU test failed, but the other two successfully completed the 5-minute test.
I didn't get any blue screens, and the system seems to be working perfectly right now.

Ive reseated my 420mm Arctic Freezer III AIO twice and my 14700k is still able to reaches 87C at stock levels LOL. No idea how this is possible considering you have a much smaller cooler.
    Hopefully your config helps.
    EDIT:
Your config made a huge difference in the XTU benchmark wattage/temperatures, bringing me down to around 213w at 75C. Using OCCT however is a different story, still drawing the full 255w whilst sitting at a max temp of 94C on the SSE test. (with a 420mm cooler mind you haha)
Cinebench sits around 95c/255w as well.

this did not age well when it comes to microcode update x129 on gigabyte. Setting the intel settings to disabled and gigabyte perf profile on will crash your computer in gaming. This video however, was the video that initially helped me build 4 computers with the 14700k. The intel settings do disable undervolting unfortunetly BUT with those temp limits i was able to set aggressive temp limits with the turbo and keep temps under 90c. Ive also noticed turning on iccmax to unlimited and keeping turbo timing settings default will stabilize and actually boost your system performance. Thank you!

I hope I can try different motherboard brands because, on ASRock, things seem to be okay, but others from different motherboards aren't finding it easy with those predefined profiles. Maybe ASUS fixed it, but I heard initially their options caused instability

Why you dont touch AC/DC_LL? I think those technically also undervolt, perhaps even better than just a standard Vcore offset. You just need to make sure you pick the right LLC

    • @TECHOSAUR
      @TECHOSAUR  Месяц назад

      You are correct.
Here is a link to a more recent video in which I combine the CPU core voltage and changes in power profiles with the AC/DC loadline:
      ruclips.net/video/tLB1fFsIjas/видео.htmlsi=SprQNwQ7Tdb08G42
But the thing is, if you want to create a more standard guide that will cover a wider audience and different motherboards, it's better to use a standard voltage approach directly on the CPU than motherboard load lines because different vendors might use different baseline values than my ASRock one. For that, I need to try different brands and make a guide for each of them. I thought it would be better to make changes on the CPU since it's what everyone will use rather than doing most of the work on the motherboard.

Hi. Excellent tutorial, I have learned a lot. Thank you.
I have a question, if you can help me. I have a 14700K air cooled in an ITX case. The MB is Asrock Z790 PG ITX. I am trying to get as much performance out of it as possible. For this I have modified in BIOS (0x129) the following items: Power Short and Long set to 200W, All cores at 55, AVXoffset at 2, and LLC at 3. With those parameters I have good performance but the temp is close to 100ºC. With offset of -0.100 the temp improves (90-92ºC). And now I have seen this tutorial and I have used your parameters in Intel XTU for undervolt with an offset of -0.165 and it is now quite good and stable. The problem is that in BIOS the max offset is -0.100. In another tutorial of yours I have seen that it is possible to increase the offset in BIOS with a multi-point curve in FIRV configuration. I have copied your points in XTU, and although they work, the performance is very low, I only reach a speed of 4.2 Mhz. What am I doing wrong, how can I know which values to use in the curve, so that the performance doesn't drop?

I think 8, so choose 5 or 4 or one of them is highlighted as best for OC, i mean to keep our undervolting stable under load
if you notice higher temp, try to reduce the PL 1, and PL2 slightly, because I think the max TDP for your cooler is 220w, so I would suggest you limit PL1 to around 210 and PL2 to 220W

With yours it seems there is no loss, so I want to try it. I download the xtu file and imported it in my xtu configuration app then, like I was wondering, xtu alert me related with the vcore undervolt radio you applied, if memory serve me well, -0,16xx or so. It say it is invalid. In the configuration I made and I said before, like I said, I undervolg then the most stable value is -0,075, pretty much half of your setting. I’m surprised you can apply it to your board considering xtu accept all your other parameters, bur it calls it invalid and I think for a reason! Now I’m not sure to apply your other settings becouse I don’t know if they could work with -0,075 offset I could apply (anything over is not stable, 0,10 crash the system). Let me know also if you do share other xtu filesI could try. Thank you for your great job.

Try with level 5 which should have less vdroop; otherwise, increase the voltage a bit until it's stable, or you could reduce the ratio and undervolt it, depending on what you prefer.

I haven't had any issues once I undervolted my CPU. I understand it's a big deal for someone with less knowledge to tune their CPU by reducing its voltage. Intel is supposed to provide an optimal experience out of the box, yet we need to do it ourselves, tbh it's a big damage to Intel's reputation in the PC enthusiast community
I made another one here checking intel guidelines:

Why undervolting gives better performance? I dont understand, higher frequencies mean higher performance, no?

    • @TECHOSAUR
      @TECHOSAUR  6 месяцев назад +2

But we didn't compromise on frequency as well. I pushed all clocks while boosting the two fast cores to a higher frequency, all while undervolting. However, when you have a lower temperature, you will get consistently good performance, and that will reflect in the final score. While initially, with stock settings, it may boost higher, as soon as it thermally throttles, it will downclock itself hard. Still, voltages will be high to begin with, and it will never recover. With lower voltage, you will give it headroom to boost and stay consistently, offering optimum performance.

In mine if I set it to level 4 or 5 it's not stable ,

Of course, if you change load-line calibration from auto to a middle level without undervolting, you will get higher temperatures. Setting LLC to any level other than auto (which usually takes the lowest possible value) should be combined with undervolting to take advantage.

You could lower clock ratios or increase voltage, since increasing load line calibration to a higher level will make it much hotter, and it's obviously not worth it, making the whole process pointless.
If you lower clocks even by one ratio, you will get so much headroom for lowering voltages, which will all reflect in lower temps.

And i cant off the undervolt protection. I saw that you've pinned some guides, but i cant understand anything in that... Sorry, that im taking time from you
I wish my processor was as stable as yours, but I don't know what to do yet. in my stress tests, it beats at 100 Celsius in a couple of seconds. Although my cooling system is three-section at 300 tdp

But in BIOS do u have voltage offset ? U don't need to explicitly under volt in XTU, U can do it in ur MSI bios too, there should be voltage settings somewhere

Did you check the temperature as you play? Maybe it's thermal throttling shifting clocks up and down, and this may introduce stutters and unexpected performance

If you have undervolt protection on and don't have negative voltage offset unlocked, the profile will show an invalid value.

Then your option is to do it in BIOS. In XTU, you will need to disable virtualization for undervolting.

I have another guide done in BIOS only, it's achieving the same results as this ome in XTU, I personally use BIOS profile

Hi from Australia, you mentioned in your presentation you'd export your profile and leave it in the description but I can't see it? Thanks, Peter

in your video you say to disable undervolt protection, but the xtu programme won't open unless its enabled, literally pops up saying it won't open without it enabled. another thing this programme is pretty useless if you have to do these settings everytime because the watchdog feature isn't available to asus users anymore since january 2024.

It's strange that it never displayed for me the message to enable undervolt protection. I just tried it now with the latest version of XTU, and undervolt protection was off.
