    Thank you for pointing these small details out. I would have missed them if you hadn't. It's cool to see Vi standing in front of a memorial, conveying she is fighting for her people. Meanwhile, Vander has nothing behind him except a fence he is sitting on, which makes him a literal fence sitter (a person who remains neutral or uncommitted on an issue). Then Vander moves over to Vi's side with the memorial, demonstrating that although he is a bit of a fence sitter he still deeply cares for his people.

    "No One Wins in War" I feel kind of like people during World War II would argue that's not always true. Probably one of the few wars where winning was actually something most people can agree was needed.

    • @ShadyDoorags
      @ShadyDoorags  2 года назад +33

      The statement is more so saying "everyone loses something in war". The point of the scene is that Vi did not understand the consequences of war, that one should only go to war if they're willing to lose things, not just gain them. Vi was willing to fight, but she wasn't willing to lose people while fighting, which is what would happen if Zaun went to war with Piltover again. Vander was also willing to fight, but only if it got to the point where he had to protect people, not to rise up.
      Also, while Vander is presented as "correct" in this scene, Arcane does its best not to force it's opinions on its viewers. There are lots of other characters, including future Vi, who would argue war is necessary when the cost of doing nothing gets too high.

    I liked this show but it had *so* many problems.
    Spoilers
    They never let Vi learn anything from all she's caused. She's just allowed to continue causing problems. There was one scene that could have worked only for the show to take it away from her because plot needed to happen. William was another problem. He had the makings of an interesting villan only for them to take that away too.

    • @ShadyDoorags
      @ShadyDoorags  2 года назад +11

      Very few of the show's problem's are Vi's fault, and the ones that are, she does face punishment. The heist at the beginning (which was more Powder's fault) results in her community being terrorized and she is heavily scolded by Vander. Her blaming Powder for Vander's death (which was totally true) and lashing out results in Powder being corrupted by Silco and Vi getting placed in prison for years. Her prematurely attacking Savika resulted in getting stabbed and Silco learning she's not dead. And despite that she refused to see Powder as Jinx, she watches as her sister kills enforcers and starts a war between Piltover and Zaun, ending any hope of peace a lot of people have worked for. Vi faces both physical and emotional consequences for any of her involvement with problems.
      I've never heard of a character named "William", so I have no idea what that's about.

    • @jovenc4508
      @jovenc4508 2 года назад +3

      @@ShadyDoorags
      She suffers physical and emotional abuse true, but she never learned from it. She just kept derping ahead. She should have never taken Powder with them on the original heist knowing she wasn't ready. Any actions Powder takes is entirely on Vi. Powder is an emotionally unstable child. She's Vi's responsibility.
      Sorry, I meant Viktor. I don't know where William came from.

      @jovenc4508 2 года назад +2

      @@ShadyDoorags
      If Vi had taken even two seconds in the latter half of the show to go "wait a minute, every time I do something me or someone I know gets hurt" and actually listened to Kate or Jayce, the show would have ended too soon. The times in the first part they took away from her for the plot to happen was when she was going to turn herself in for the heist only for Vander to swoop in and take it from her The other is when she wanted to apologize to Powder for snapping on her only to be yoinked by Marcus, but again, plot needed to happen.

    • @ShadyDoorags
      @ShadyDoorags  2 года назад +6

      The very next heist, Vi tells Powder not to come with them. After she abandons Powder, she spends the entire show trying to get back to her because leaving her behind once caused her to become Jinx.
      Viktor's story clearly isn't done yet. It's gonna span across multiple seasons. (unless he dies from Jinx's rocket) *SPOILERS*
      I know LoL lore so I know he more than likely will become a villain, but his story within the context of the show is still left open for him to go either way. The point is that he's a desperate man, so the show needs to see how far his desperation will take him and how that will affect his those he cares about.

    • @jovenc4508
      @jovenc4508 2 года назад

      @@ShadyDoorags
      That would have been all well and good for Vi to tell Powder to stay behind the second time if Vi hadn't spent the previous scenes hyping Powder up with stories about the gang's previous failures and encouraging Powder to try harder. Which, by the way, falling in some paint or getting a doll stuck on the roof because of some bullies isn't comparable to accidentally blowing up part of a city block then losing the spoils not long after.
      I kind of thought Viktor was pretty desperate as it was. I mean the dude carved runes into his own body. Not to mention the whole dying slowly and seemingly painfully. But, accidentally disintigrate one aide and suddenly it's all for naught.

  • @Nickle_King
    @Nickle_King Год назад

    Something about this show I like is that Vander never says "War is bad. Don't do War." He's just knows that it would solve nothing as things are right now. Part of this is Vander's own fear and guilt for everything he's done and everything he's lost. The other part is because he knows what could happen if the people get desperate enough to start taking sides.
    But, there is one, very important thing that Vander knows above all else. This truce between Zaun and Piltover is being held together with 3 people and only 3 people. Some of the people in Piltover and practically everyone in Zaun wants war, and rightly so. War may be terrible, but Piltover's treatment of the Zaunites is worse. Vander holds on so tightly to this truce because he knows war is inevitable. It isn't an if. It's a when. But Zaun does not have the strength to defend themselves against Piltover. It would be a massacre, just as it was before.
    It's not accurate to say "Nobody wins in war." It's more accurate to say "the ones who pay the price of war are not the victors or the vanquished. It's the people who are still left in the aftermath."

      It's not really fair to say Arcane has a "B story". Arcane has multiple stories going on at once that tie into the themes and collide with each other multiple times. Vi is the protagonist of the show as a whole, but Jayce is treated as a protagonist as well since he's leading the story of Piltover. Usually you don't want to do this because audiences only have so much attention, and too many stories can be straining for them. However, the internet (including myself) think that Arcane nailed their storytelling. As demonstrated in this video, the scenes aren't rushed through. They are cinematically planned out to give the viewer a full experience and each scene breathes, even if there's a lot going on in them.

    • @MrDj232
      @MrDj232 2 года назад +1

      @@thomasraines1396 The B story is Jayce developing hex-tech and becoming a corrupt politician. It's a lot less interesting, and it takes away from Vi and Jinx. It's especially bad in the first 3 episodes where we're introduced to characters who are obviously only there to die. Cutting back on Jayce's story would have given those characters more time to develop, made it less obvious that they're sacrificial props, and deepened the emotional impact of losing them.
