I'm seeing a lot of comments from what I'm assuming are new viewers. Just putting this out there, but as mentioned in the video, he's been dealing with this issue for over four years. Four years ago, he's talked about it for the first time in this video:
    ruclips.net/video/6HtBteZDRt8/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Since then, he's made update videos regarding his progress, the methods, doctor visits, tests, usage of gloves, dry vs wet hands, diet, etc.

As nurse I will put this out there: once a person experiences an allergic reaction to an allergen (food, chemical, environmental), each subsequent exposure can increase in severity and can even morph into anaphylaxis (a life threatening reaction). Please take heed to what he is saying and work with him. Please. If you are his client and you love and appreciate him, take this seriously. Peace and blessings.

Yes! I have several allergies and because I didn’t know I was allergic to certain things and didn’t know eating/ using things that have allergens in them I’m having reactions all of the time. People think I’m crazy when I say I’m allergic to an ingredient or food and brush it off because they’ve never seen the reaction happen. I recall a yr ago getting my hair wash and this particular shampoo had avocado oil ( I’m severely allergic to avocado) in it and apparently my stylist had been using it on my head for a yr and it destroyed my scalp. It took about a month for my scalp to heal

This totally makes sense. Allergies can be flared beyond direct contact. So if gloves arent protecting you, then it makes sense to not take the chance anymore.
Also just a thought maybe bc you have become allergic or sensitive to those products bc you use them more than the average consumer. Like how nail techs can become allergic to polymers if their not carefull about exposure.

@@GaDiva769 disposable, non-sterile gloves often have small, imperceptible holes in them. your skin might be moistened with the product and then there's no opportunity for it to dry, intensifying the reaction. i definitely don't recommend using cleaning products with your bare hands, mind; just something to consider !! perhaps cleaning pastes might work better for your skin ? they're usually far too thick to penetrate the tiny holes in most gloves.

When I began experiencing issues with Lupus it started with my hands. My hands blistered and swelled up like baseball mitts. I thought it was chemically induced. My blistering happens when I go from extreme temps- hot/cold. It's now everywhere including the butterfly rash on my face.
Also, check your gloves. I found out that I am allergic to latex also.
Make sure your hands are completly dry before putting on your gloves. Moisture could activate chemicals in them.

It is not Aphogee Pro Vitamin as a whole. More than likely it is one if not a combination of some of the ingredients in the product that is causing the problem. He has identified that the problem exacerbates if or when his hands are exposed to hair that has used the product (with or without him wearing gloves). Now, he is in in the process of working with an allergist (and probably also a chemist, if not Aphogee themselves) to narrow down the specific ingredient or combination of ingredients in the Aphogee product that is causing his issue. So, as he is requesting, if anyone is a client, please respect, protect and help preserve his skill, talent, profession and healthy mindsate by partnering with him if you want to sit in his chair and be styled by him....by not using the product. I pray he quickly identifies the specific ingredient, ingredients within Aphogee causing the problem so he can also avoid the combination in other products. His hands are part of his artistry and profession. We thank you for all your contributions and we know you will continue. We pray the skin issue is resolved with complete healing.

The positive self talk that we must give ourselves is to tell ourselves, it's okay to prioritize our health and wellbeing first, period! Those who do not recognize the importance of this or who tell you that you should put others ahead of yourself, are teaching you to allow others to victimize you. It's the Proteins of a substance that our immune systems are usually responding to when we have allergens. In haircare, hydrolyzed proteins are intended to increase absorption/attachment to the hair. It's possible they are also doing the same to your skin, and may even be able to penetrate your gloves. There's probably a specific type of protein you are allergic to that's in the Aphogee products, and it's probably made worse if that protein is hydrolyzed.

Someone left an earlier comment about how you are using this stuff more than the average person and that’s a really great point I hadn’t considered. It’s likely that whatever ingredient(s) is in the aphogee is going to appear in a lot of other products too and with constant use it’s probably only a matter of time before they start to trigger issues too. My old college roommate basically couldn’t use anything but Dr. Bronners on her hair and skin because of her eczema. I can’t stand that stuff, lol, but it was like the only thing that didn’t flare her up. I know you’re not a fan of folks putting egg and avocado and mayo in their hair (or unsolicited advice so don’t go getting all cranky! Lol) but it might be a good time to at least reconsider some alternative products with fewer chemicals. You used to like Jane Carter and I think it is still fairly clean/natural. Kinky Curly is supposed to be pretty clean too. You taught us that all the puddings and stuff are unnecessary since you just use grease and water to style. What would be the pure and simple shampoo/conditioner/leave in version of just using grease and water? 🤔

I want the best for you - you've been a great voice to counter no oils. To increase your coin - what if you trained stylists in "your method" (how to detangle type 4 hair efficiently and how to use grease for the best results etc.) since we can't all get to you? You work with type 4 hair really well, I feel like you should have a whole company and trainings and products like the no oils ladies but better.❤😂

Aniya Edwards here. Thanks for this information, Narada! I hope your hands heal up completely so you can continue to do what you love. I wish you told me this beforehand because I just bought those 2 specific leave-in conditioners before returning home. I’ll stop using them and I’ll go back to using water for now until you do an allergy test. I don’t want to be responsible for an accidental flare up. I’ll be returning whenever I head back to Atlanta. Be blessed! ❤

I fully empathise SOOOOO much. I am glad you are being very transparent about this issue, because I was almost tempted to try the APVLI myself, but after hearing that it's been causing the issues, I will be leaving it (and ALL aphogee products) alone because my skin will flare up exactly the same. I'm still figuring out all things I'm allergic to (shea butter being one of them, go figure) but personally I found minimising all red, yellow, and orange soaps and body washes helped a lot.
There is hope. At one point, my entire left forearm looked like yours (only red instead of brown) and it has subsided so much that these days I only get little pockets of irritation on my thumbs and pinkies.
Hope this recent flareup clears up sooner than you anticipate. 🤞🏼

I’m glad you found out what was going on. I remember a few years back this being a problem. I don’t know if there’s a disclaimer when a client sets an appointment but maybe create one if you don’t have it; make it legally binding. If someone pops up with Aphogee leave-in or anything else in that product line, don’t tell you, and you end up breaking out bad then you reserve the right to bring about a civil suit. Those products are threatening your health and, eventually, your life if you continue to be exposed to them. Plus I’m sure during the worst of the flare ups you’re losing out on working so a suit recoups lost time. I’m interested in knowing what ingredient(s) are causing this.

I had to pour the whole bottle down the drain. And that shit was hard to find in-stock in my area! 🤣 Glad you figured out what it was Rada. This is how you’ll see who really rides with you. Come on Aphogee…he has promoted your products the very least you can do is contact him privately and “unofficially” list the perfume(s) that could “possibly” be causing his skin irritation. I hope you find some relief and a solution to your skin issue.

I just realized that shea moisture jbco leave in has been making my eczema explode! I wonder if they have any ingredients in common! Sorry you are going through this, in my experience people can’t understand how deep it hurts and itches :(
ETA- I just compared the ingredients online, it’s seems that they have hydrolyzed keratin and tocopheryl acetate in common. Idk if it helps but I’m going to see if I have any more products with those ingredients and do a spot test. Good luck with the allergist! ❤

great news ! my favourite leave-in of potentially all time, the mielle organics white peony leave in, has neither hydrolysed keratin or tocopherol acetate. it does have hydrolysed silk amino acids if you think you might be sensitive to all hydrolysed proteins, but other than that it should be safe ! it's a spray leave in, so there might be an adjustment curve from shea moisture jbco in that case, but i do love it and keep loads of backups(i have 5 rn) in my house ! i can also recommend the kinky curly knot today if you're looking for a cream leave in. i don't use it anymore because my nose has decided it hates the smell but it's a great product !
