This design is easy in comparison to the Samsung dryer I replaced. I changed out the Samsung heating element and thermal fuses about every three months prior to buying my Speed Queen. In order to get to the Samsung heating element you had to remove the entire drum. I watched this video after I had replaced the heating element in my Speed Queen as I was unsure about the polarity on the thermal fuse. I hope this video helps others out from having to pay a repair company for a fairly easy replacement.

I had to comment on the comments. No reason to take out the drum. Don’t make it a harder job than it is. It was way easier to reach than my previous Samsung. Yes, a nut driver would be handy but I was able to complete the entire thing in 20 minutes. This Speed Queen is very accessible. I wired it the way the original was, not the way the replacement diagram showed. Thanks for the video showing where everything was and what size ratchet to use.

If you remove the entire front panel and remove the drum like they intend, you don't have to lay on your belly to repair. Then you can also do a good job of inspecting other wear parts and do a thorough cleaning.

Are you happy with this dryer? Thinking of getting a used one.

I am for the most part. It works great and is still going strong. However I do fear the push button pads wearing out and failing me at some point. I feel like a less fancy interface would be more robust for the longevity of the dryer. Saying that I haven’t had any issues with it either.

This is a commercial machine. It is designed to be repaired in place in a Laundromat situation without moving the machine and service it from the front.. The proper repair procedure would be to completely disassemble the machine and inspect everything and make needed repair with an empty cabinet.
Just so that people aren’t misinformed here. Speed Queen is a commercial company that sells to the public.

Is it safe to leave the new heating element wired the way it was received? Or is it best to switch the wires around so they're the same as the original?

There is no polarity with AC power,You did a good job of the repair but,
As far as laying on you stomach, well I seriously doubt that manufactures install elements from the front.
What I mean is during mass production that unit is likely lined up on an assembly line and probably human less robotics install the screws for the heating element.
They build these dryers difficult for the end user to imagine how a repair is done, however should they be lucky enough to find your video a man, maybe a woman given how easy your video shows how easy it can actually be repaired, they will freak out, call hubby and say:
Look how easy it is to fix oir dryer.
Do me a favor, Please by yourself a 5/16 nut driver or get one from your grip. If your at all like me once your in front of the dryer, likely with your legs crossed who wants to get up and run back to their tool box (I call them grips, I used to repair the VERY OLD, IBM selectric typewriters for 20 years and we carried mini tools in a leather like grip (tool kit).
I see your video just came out. GREAT. Somehow you've jumpped to the top or videos are randomly selected to broadcast.
I was looking at a post, app in my Fire TV that does excellent mirroring all the sudden went to commercial and Bingo there was your video.
I did not type one keyword like DRYER SPEED QUEEN HEATING ELEMENT NOT HEATING etc. Not one.
I think some apps somehow promote until ya buy the dam thing. So thats good for your video.
However a month ago I went on u tube looking for how to replace the belt on a hotpoint dryer (mainly for size.
So easy. I have to give the chinks credit for building units that can be repaired from the front.
I'm not to sure about your back to front ducting for better heating. The chinks simply figured out a cheaper quicker way to manufacture. (Or who know maybe a combo of both efficiency & saving cashola)?
Good video over all. Many folks will be thanking you.
They sure don't build these washers and driers like they used to. In the old days they had elements that would last forever. Transmissions with gears now replaced by simple chickchink transistors flipping the polarity of the washer motor back and forth. My old G.E. had a REAL water pump tied to the end of the motor shaft, now they use these cheap ace little water fountain motors, off to the side to empty water from the tub.
Bro, Everything we have has been Japafied or Chinksfied and they charge an arm and a leg for these parts. Many containing transistors that could easily be changed if the boards weren't covered im some type of clear rubber or hard resin or some chit.
Youll have to excuse me. I'm from the old school when quality meant something.
Thanks for your contribution. You'll save many folks a lot of money.
Now go and make a video for me. When I replaced the belt on my Hotpoint dryer I think i knocked or pulled
off a wire that goes from the door switch back in where i cant see.
My made has to keep a heavy book on the start button to keep the drum spinning. Hell I had no idea that there was some dang belt breakage sensor that stops the drum. The door switch is fine. First i thought i ordered the wrong belt (uses a common GE) then saw the proper was to rout it around the pulley and must have knocked or more likely broke a terminal wire off a sensor switch.
Im not fond of looking for it.
    Thanks again.
