You have to give Dave credit for his commitment on the big girl, regardless of the terrain on these trips. I went bush bashing today on my Rally with a 300 2 stroke, DRZ400, CRF 230 and an old XT660. All home unscathed!
We’ll done I was at Waraweena a couple of weeks back and rode Mt Gill (just the regular loop) and that was plenty for me. It was a tough, demanding but fun ride. 👍
That looked like really hard work on the T7! We all know the 890 can go anywhere. I wondered at first if the "no power" was something like traction control but a slipping throttle grip makes sense too -- he needs to get a stronger handshake :-)
How seriously good was that....Thank you for the owners at Waraweena for their hospitality, noting that the OCR 2024 will be at Arkaroola, I would say that there might be some additional riders out that way. Busting to do a Flinders trip...soon....
On you Shonky what an amazing place the Flinders is. That track is definitely worth exploring. Incredible video very well shot and very entertaining as usual but this one was a cut above. Superb riding especially from the heavy bike pilots. Would be jealous but I had my fill on the Trans European Trail in Greece and did 3800 ks mostly on mountain ridges going up to 2400m. Amazing place you got to have a go one day. Ran out of time 😢coming back to Australia next week. Great work mate thanks 🙏
Thanks Bill, the scenery was amazing for the entire trip. Stay tuned for Episode 3, where we head further into the outback for some big, open landscapes.
I'm happy to hear that I can help keep that adventure desire going for you. Tassie sounds great, I've only done it on four wheels and am jealous of you now!
Great video, thanks for sharing. I like the fairing on your CRF rally. That’s the thing I never liked about those bikes: the “minion” headlights. Looks like you found a better looking replacement. I also watched your light vs heavy bike video. I ride a 2005 KTM 640 adventure which I think is the unicorn bike (that’s only my opinion) and I also like the CRF 300 rally. A friend of mine recently bought a Honda AT and the first thing I said was “how are you going to pick that thing up Tony?” Needless to say, I’ve helped him pick it up several times. Keep up the good work.
Thanks mate, I have an Adventure Rally X front tower on my CRF Rally. I have a slightly bigger screen on it for these long distance rides. I really like the KTM640 adventure, and have a few mates with them. I modern version of them would be the true modern unicorn. Once I tried to pick up my Africa Twin, I knew it was time for a new bike!
You do some awesome rides, looks you have to be prepared to do some serious k's to get to the next level once in a lifetime destinations. longest i have travelled for a ride is 3 or 4 hours.
"Hey, I found a shortcut"... much much later, you come back on the main track that was supposed to take longer, but as you now realise was in fact shorter , . That's exactly how an adventure ride is supposed to be 🤣
I was trying my custom made screen on my tower for the long road sections of this trip. I will be trying another screen in the coming weeks. The one I used in these videos was a little tall for the harder off road sections.
Thanks for the video - looks like I have a new place to try next time on our WR250's ! Do you happen to have a GPX file to share ? It take a lot of the navigation stress out.
Over-confident and under-skilled riders on over-powered lumbering elephants - narrated by the voice a father reading Lord of the Rings to a 5 year old. The little Rally laughing all the way...
Doing mount Gill on an adventure bike is equal parts brave and stupid imo. I’ve done it on a dirt bike and that was hard enough. It’s a great place Warraweena. PS: if you don’t like rocks, DON’T go to Warraweena.
@@ShonkyProductions That would be good, obviously, but it really wasn't that bad. When it's really bad it gives me a headache, but this one did not give me a headache.
I'd rather see the bumps in motorcycle footage. Stabilization just makes all videos the same, like you're floating on a magic carpet. Even big bumps just get smoothed out.
@@ShonkyProductions I have an Insta360 GO2 with stablisation and horizon leveling. The footage is very smooth, but it looks like a magic carpet ride to anyone that wasn't there to experience it...
Mate can you have a look at your camera or editing software settings…this video is very over exposed causing a loss of details and a white out effect lot of the footage…
Thanks, I'll look into that. It was hard getting the settings right when I was using footage from 5 different cameras. I will upgrade mine and make a better effort next time.
@@ShonkyProductions yes different cameras would explain the difference white balance levels…thats some great country full of australias iconic outback colours…
@@ShonkyProductions i thought the overexposed sections were cool. gave it that heat that i know is there and gave it a bit of a retro nostalgic documentary feel as well. so it might have been a mistake but it was a good mistake.
man i am so jealous....
Ill have to check out this Mt Gill trail. Thanks for sharing😊

Yes, Dave can ride the big 990 anywhere. Good work on your bush bashing ride and coming home in one piece!
Thanks for time and effort you put into sharing your adventures. Enjoyable and inspiring 👍🏻
We’ll done

Thanks Brent, I've just been watching your Flinders videos. They look great too, you have great video production skills!

Thanks Floyd, I'm working on episode 3 now.

Thanks Tony. I'm jealous of your euro trip. The flinders is such a great place. I'll need to talk to you about Googs Track when you're home.
RUclips didn’t notify me about the last video, great to see a new series from you
It would be cool to camp up on that beautiful open ridge
Yes, I bet it would. We did discuss and overnight trip either staying in one of the huts or camping on Mt Gill to watch the sun setting and rising.
ahhh yes! love your content.
Thanks mate, it was a fun ride.
Epic trip so far Sean.....
Thanks
Nicely captured and well put together, Cant wait to get there next year.
Thanks, it's an awesome place. We're already planning our next trip there.
What an incredible place! It almost looks like the American Southwest in places. Rocks like that can really wear a rider down. Really great video!
Thanks Bill, the scenery was amazing for the entire trip. Stay tuned for Episode 3, where we head further into the outback for some big, open landscapes.
Really good job mate. Shane and his potty mouth starred in this episode!😂
Yes, I must remind Shane that we are trying to make family viewing!
Yes,,!!@! Another Shonky Production... keeping us inspired while we slave like dogs paying the mortgage till we get to do Tassie early next year..

What a fantastic adventure, hard going on those tracks with rocks everywhere a bit different to the tracks im used too here on the north coast.
We all got a lot better at riding in rocks by the end of that day!

HI Dan, yes we have a big country and you'll need to travel to ride the best bits. I'm planning a Victorian High Country ride for later in the year.

Haha... exactly!
Well done, that's beyond my skill level, not fond of those rocky bits.Great video, awesome job.
Thanks Steve.
Great vid! What windscreen are you using as on your tower?

Great video, did the Honda have stock suspension?
Just took delivery of mine, can't wait to get back to the Flinders.
No, my bike has had the suspension re-sprung and re-valved by a local suspension shop.

Yes, everyone was a lot better at riding on rocks after spending a few days there. Not one puncture in our group either!
What tires/pressures dis you run on this trip?
I did tire pressure checks on each bike every morning to try to avoid pinch flats and punctures.
I was using 18 in the rear and 20 in the front.
how tall are you mate?
I'm 5'10", 178cm
IMHO Stuff: Need to stabilize your video. My neck was hurt watching it !
Yes, I agree. I will definitely upgrade to a newer GoPro with stabilisation. Although... you do now understand how rough and rocky it was!
