  • Flinders Ranges by 4wd - G'day, mates! Buckle up as we embark on another thrilling adventure in this episode, set in the striking Flinders Ranges of South Australia. This time we are exploring the lesser-known stations, their challenging 4wd tracks, and sharing reviews of the satellite communicators we used on this trip.
    Our destination in Part one is the Horseshoe Top End Station, often referred to as the mini Wilpena Pound, due to its stunning natural amphitheatre. Steeped in a rich history and offering plenty of off-road trails to navigate, this station provides an immersive outback experience. Our journey takes us through rocky terrain, winding river beds, and unspoilt wilderness that will make any 4wd enthusiast's heart race.
    We round off our day by setting up camp at the Top Of the World Campsite, aptly named for the mesmerising panoramic views it offers. Nestled high in the hills, this campsite provides a remarkable vantage point to soak in the beauty of the Flinders Ranges. Don't miss the magical transformation of the landscape at sunset, when the golden sunrays hit the ochre ridges and the sky paints a symphony of colours.
    As part of this expedition, I've also tested two highly-rated 2-way Satellite Communicators - the Zoleo and the Garmin InReach Mini 2. Being in remote areas makes reliable communication essential, and these gadgets promise just that. From ease of use to signal strength, battery life, and emergency features, I examine all the key factors to give you a balanced review and my personal favourite
    So, whether you're planning your own escapade into the outback, or just fancy a virtual journey from the comfort of your couch, this episode is sure to give you some lesser known travel destinations.

    Beautiful place! I went to Horseshoe Top End in 2018 and loved it there. Thanks for bringing back some memories. Looks like you were lucky with the wind we camped in the valley because the ridge would have blown us back to Newcastle. Cheers Steve

    two very pleasant station stays with comfortable tracks over interesting ground. Hammond is a marvel of ignorance of the Australian climate. Settled soon after 1:100 year good rain. Moving north from Orroroo across Goyder's Line, changes from marginal cropping to bare earth in just a few kilometres in summer.

    Oh Stephan, you've become a drone addict!
    I just finished a 7k km outback trek and noticed many 'No drones' signs popping up from Coward Springs, Yulara and King's Canyon and beyond. Love your drone footage mate but the noise those things make 😝

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  Год назад

      it’s a great way to take video and photos. The noise is marginal for a few second before it’s higher up and to be honest I say in 19 out of 20 times there is now one but our group to hear any noise.

    With Celfi-go, you need a big cellular antenna to get the best out of it. The bigger your antenna, the longer your range. I have mine connected to a 2m antenna, and I could get full reception from up to 20+km away.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  Год назад

      yea I need data cellular is not important anymore as I have wifi calling with data.
