I scratched up my old retainers using toothpaste and a harder brush, but my dentist gave me a toothbrush with silicone bristles for my new ones. i thought it would be too soft to clean them but it's great! He said the secret is to brush them (or at least rinse them well if you're out and you can't brush them there) immediately every time you take them out, rather than leaving them in a tissue or whatever to brush later, because then nothing will get a chance to dry and go hard. I brush them with cool water and use steradent 1x a week and my retainers have stayed shiny and clean this time. It's surprising how little work it takes to keep them nice when you know an effective method.
I brush my aligners at least 3x daily. I have a couple more sets before a retainer, which will im afraid will inevitably stain. This video helped me to learn about the cleaning tablets. Thanks, Z 👍 ps I started using aligner and teeth whitener as of yesterday 7/19/22 so im trusting it will whiten my teeth at the same time keeping the trays cleaner. 5x a day my orthodontist said to use up to. Im on my tenths month and Im pleased with the results. Thanks again for the videos. Z
