Thank you for posting this excellent video. I am an older person in my 60s. I am just starting Invisalign treatment. I am in learning mode. I'm using Retainer Brite at this time, but I thought it was expensive when I ordered it from Amazon. I might try ordering generic denture cleaning tablets from Target if the price is a lot lower.
I used the invisalign crystals once. I couldn't get the smell of the crystals to ever go away. Made morning breath deathly. I like the denture cleaner too.
I wear my aligned every morning when I drink my black coffee - my teeth were staining too bad. Now I cannot get the coffee stains off my retainers. Will try the Listerine and when I get back to US will try the Target generic brand of cleaner. Thanks for video
I’m on my second set of trays and I soaked the first set in Efferdent for five minutes and I couldn’t believe how clean and fresh they came out but the instructions indicate not to use anything like that. I had to because the Oder was so terrible. It took the Oder and although I didn’t have staining since I do not eat or drink anything other than water with them in it got them even more clean and shiny!
I love this! I use an ultrasonic cleaner with a dental tablet every time I take my aligners out. I had no issues with staining. BUT, do you know if this could degrade the quality of aligners or retainers?
I'm on my fourth set of Aligners, a little over a month and I've been using Ever Smile. It says to use it overnight, which I do. My Aligners aren't crystal, but they're not yellow either. I also use the Isonic F3900 Ultrasonic Cleaner too with Bastion Antibacterial Retainer Cleaner tablets about 3 to 4 times per week.
I’ve only had mine a week, but they’re like brand new still. Twice daily (because I only eat twice a day), I brush them with *Dr. Bronner’s bar soap* using my SoniCare toothbrush (with it on), and then I let them run five minutes in a *Sonic Cleaner.* Today, after one week, I also added a tablet of Retainer Cleaner (by M3 Naturals I think it is) to the Sonic Cleaner (I can’t use Retainer Brite-maybe I got a bad batch, but Retainer Brite smelled absolutely horrible). A couple of times, I added a capful of 3% hydrogen peroxide to my Sonic Cleaner. So far, so good! ❤️
Peace is yeshua I use 1/2 Hydrogen peroxide 1/2 water in a dish whenever I take out my aligners. I put out a fresh covered dish everyday & use it the whole day. A couple time a week I use a Sonic cleaning machine I got off Amazon to keep my aligners disinfected. I drop a fizzy tablet in it. I admit it's easier for me because I'm retired & can clean the aligners easily than people on the go!
My orthodontist told me that I should only be drinking water with my trays in my mouth, which I have followed so far. Is staining the only adverse effect of drinking black coffee with the trays? They mentioned that trays pressing food debris and sugars against the teeth can help accelerate tooth decay.
Good question Doug. Black coffee without sugar or milk doesn't contain any sugars. If you drink hot coffee, the shape of your aligners may be affected.
Bravo, that was very informative and relevant ☺️ I have been using castile soap to soak my trays over the last 6 months and, although I have nothing negative to say about it from my own experience, I have wondered why I couldn't find many articles online recommending or comparing it. Your video gives me a bit more reassurance, as I always gently brush my trays after soaking, anyway. I'll consider the generic tablets in the future.
I’ve also tried a white charcoal powder I found on Amazon and I found it to be pretty helpful. I just wet my toothbrush and dipped it in the powder before brushing trays
Thank you for this video! I'm starting Invisalign soon and have been researching all of the various cleaning methods. Was wondering whether there was any advantage to using the Invisalign cleaning crystals and you addressed that so well. I was curious about the ingredients.

For me, quartercup water and equal amount of hydrogenperoxide. Soak for ten minutes and finish with brush. That works best for me.
Thanks for sharing your experience. That's a great suggestion.
Does this work for coffee staining??

cant relate
I had the same problem! They smelled absolutely awful after using the Cleaning Crystals. Never again.

@@rentedduckliingplease update! Was it useful?
@@DevSingh-me7pl absolutely, I’m in retainers now and still use them everyday with the retainers now

Thanks for the heads up on the Invisalign crystals. I was just about to waste money on it. I think I'll try a soaking mix of listerine and peroxide

Glad you found it to be informative. Mechanical brushing is far more important than soaking. Doing both is ideal.

straight up peroxide and baking soda works the best, however does not remove all stains, been wearing Invisalign since 2005. And I'm a smoker.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thank you! So helpful. I am so appreciative of your research on this,
Glad it was helpful :)

You’re welcome. Thanks for your nice comment.
what about soaking aligners in a cup of water mixed with hydrogen peroxide only?
That’s a good option, albeit can be messy. Don’t get it on things that can get bleached/oxidized.
That works for me to remove odors
Extremely helpful Dr. Bailey thank you 😁
Thank you :)
Thank you so much for the information. I learned a lot!
That’s great to hear. Thanks for watching.
How about a paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide?
Hydrogen peroxide is a common ingredient. Baking soda may* scratch some aligners/retainers.
Can we soak it in soap water ?
You can, but be sure to brush it thoroughly. Other options are white vinegar OR hydrogen peroxide. Mix with half water.
Would soaking them in a blue mouthwash help reduce the yellow color the way a bluing liquid is used to counter yellowing in clothes?
I used blue mouthwash once and they turned bright blue
I just found magic crystals in a plastic bottle at my local Walgreen's called Stain Away Plus. PLEASE tell me they are safe to use!!
Never used it before. Perhaps test it on an old pair of aligners? Let us know what you find out.
I’m sure your video contains the info I’m looking for (good cleaner for Invisalign) but I’m not willing to give up 18 minutes to find out.
Understandable. You may enjoy the videos on TrayMinder Tik Tok.
Thank you very much Dr. Bailey
You’re welcome.
Omg thank u ☺️. Also u are so pretty 🤩 (not to be weird lol)
😊 thank you
so really nothing is good
That's the message I'm getting. :(
I hate mint so hope the top rated ones don’t have any flavoring 😢
