That’s my favorite scene too. One of the biggest things I love about that scene is how scared he is and he’s doing it anyway. He isn’t a superhero either, just a regular guy doing the right thing, and you can tell he’s certain it’s going to get him killed. I love that scene.
I really like it too, I think it shows the manifestation of Cap’s spirit being something that even someone as weak and timid as this guy can embrace, and how he can get through to powerful people like Thor and Iron Man but also influence an everyday shy guy into doing the right thing, even if his life is on the line. Shows that just as Stark’s real superpower is his mind, Cap’s real power is his heart and capability of showing everyone how they can be heroes, no matter who they are.
This scene shows why Cap is a real hero: He inspires heroism in others and shows who we could be, finding the hero in ourselves, doing the right thing, even at personal cost.
@surfitlive I've had this as my channel name for a couple of years now based on the scene from Winter Soldier. And coincidentally soneone else liked the scene as much as I did and made a video about it.
When I saw Winter Soldier for the first time, that one agent, who did his job well, said no, and KNEW HE WAS GOING TO DIE, was the bravest moment in the movie. And thank you for the realism. I subscribed the moment you spoke up. Like that agent. Thanks.
That decision to explicitly link the themes of these movies to real life just earned you my subscription. Keep up the good work! This was a well made video!
Thank you so much for this. This might border on digital oversharing... but this video is blowing up (at least by my small channel's standards) and I'm feeling pressure to make the next video "good" Which in youtube terms means I feel more temptation than usual to water it down and make "content" instead of pieces of writing I believe in and stand behind. Comments like this help remind me of why I started the channel in the first place. Hope you stick around. And feel free to check out other videos while I'm working on the next essay.
@@ThatMakesSenseToMe An admirable stance, speak! But I was a lot more concerned when you said it though, as so many people take a simplistic view of it, and those people aren't afraid to speak up... when they should perhaps look around a little first. Understand both sides. Agree, disagree, whatever, but understand. I couldn't tell if you were condemning the perceived right-wing violence and hateful rhetoric while giving a pass to the left-wing same. I'm stuck in between, philosophically left and pragmatically right, or something like that. And I keep seeing the same targets come up in hateful rhetoric (in the languages I speak): jews, white men, sjws, muslims, christians, sexual minorities, republicans, and anyone criticizing any group made up of any of these with legitimate or illegitimate criticism. To avoid getting to the point of launching ships, maybe we all need to take a moment to talk about what we're so afraid of, lest we perpetuate a cycle of fear and countermeasures. People aren't becoming neofascists out of nowhere, nor sjws, nor taking any social political stance. What's going on? Good video. It could be more clear about the social stuff if you're gonna have it in there. But well made. And good choice of scene.
This is one of my favorite scenes too. He's just a normal guy, no powers. His job could even be done by the meat head hydra goon pointing the gun at him. It shows you that it's all about power and control on hydra's part, but he refuses to give up, and plants himself like a tree saying "No, Captain's orders". I wanted to make a video on this, but this is pretty good too
@@ThatMakesSenseToMe honestly, she's so cool and had so much potential. Apparently she was supposed to be as prominent as Wanda in civil war but was sidelined again. Sad that so many women of the MCU get this treatment.
@surfitlive yup. I read about that. It's so annoying how the female characters are constantly sidelined. It was a similar situation with civil war, where Sharon was supposed to be in the airport fight instead of Wanda. And the wasp was also going to join Ant-man. But obviously that never happened.
Well hot damn . This comment's making ME tear up. Thanks for watching and sending this encouragement my way. I'm a new RUclips and I really appreciate it. And lol... I should change the channel name to that... "Politics and Superheroes" cause there are many more videos coming.
Lol hey, if the shoe fits? Lol. But seriously, that’s what informs my political views. When I was a kid reading comic books, yeah sure the super powers were cool, but the moral integrity is what stuck with me. The ability to stand for and fight for what’s right, for the People! And that right there is what brought me to tears. Like you said real patriotism stand for the PEOPLE not the government. I look at the state of our country even our planet. We have to be the hero’s and heroines we read about and watch in these movies. Even with that being said it’s not gonna be easy. We as humanity have the potential for greatness. Watching your video made reminded me of that.
Well said. "Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right, even if the whole world is telling you to move. It is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye and say, no. You move."
Hey man it's a breath of fresh air to find smaller channels like yours. Your content is clean, to the point, and there is always value to get out of it. Keep doing what you're doing and I will support it. Thanks.
I really like that about this concept and that they accept video's from everyone. There are channels with 100 to 1.000.000 subs and they all offer equally high quality videos on Marvel. It's a very good opportunity for these smaller channels. Sadly, RUclips hasn't picked up on it.
You've earned not just my subscription, but my respect. It takes a great man to speak out about injustice in the world, in any way he/she can, knowing full well that it may become inconvenient or even detrimental to him/her.
Know what? I’ve been binging Marvel analysis films for days, but I think this was the bravest one I’ve seen yet. And I love it. That’s the next logical step after applying fictional lessons to real life, and I really like how you let those clips stand on their own. You let them speak for themselves, and let the viewer draw the conclusion you make immediately after.
This is super kind of you. I wrote a comment to sayanth s with some trying-to-keep-perspective type thoughts about how there are people far braver than me. But all the same, thanks for watching. If you liked this you might like the essays on my website CGAPeterson.com while you wait for the next youtube videos. Hope you stick around and thanks for watching :)
The problem isn't so much right vs left as much as it is about extremism of either side. The vast majority of conservatives and liberals are closer to center and likely share common beliefs. It's the outspoken extremists who justify violence by portraying anyone opposed to them as the extremist polar opposites. Don't fall into the trap of letting the extremists speak for your ideology. Don't buy into partisanship. Make up your own mind about individual issues based on your personal principles. And don't be afraid to question beliefs held by your own political peer group.
WOW! I couldn't have said that any better if I tried. I know this because I spent 20 minutes typing out something similar and then I read yours and quickly deleted mine. Well said.
I love your comment. So many people are absorbed into their own political bubbles, consumed by hatred for the enemy, that they are unwilling to acknowledge the evil standing right beside them. He talks about acklowledging the evils in our country and yet focus's entirely on the Alt-Right which was actually quite week in this country until the Control-Left rose to prominence and if history has taught us anything where socialists go, fascists follow not far behind. These two groups of authoritarian autocrats feed off of this kind of devision. At it's root Marxism is a form of authoritarianism that prioritizes pitting the "outsider" against the "establishment". Using a twisted backwards notion of equality to feed off of the envy, and resentment that disenfranchised groups inevitably hold for the successful in society. Relying on a toxic narrative that those people only flourish do to taking advantage of those disenfranchised groups, and/or that that those people both hate and fear these outsiders. Often creating victims where their are none, both figuratively (In constructing False narratives) and literally (In that their economic policies suck creating more poverty and suffering if and when they do come to power). While Fascism is a form of authoritarianism that prioritizes pitting the "established culture" against "the other". Which plays off of the fear of the upper to middle class of loosing what it is they already have, by painting "others" as freakish monsters who want to take everything away from them. From there they need only follow the same tactics as the Marxists. Both groups rely on shutting down conversation and creating and forming narratives that frame all of the damage done by their conflicts solely on one side or the other. As well as painting any voice of reason or descent as vile seditious traitors in league with their enemies. As well as dehumanizing, and othering the groups and factions aligned with the enemy side. Basically, they are exactly the same in everything but the root, one seeks to maintain existing power structures by warping them into a authoritarian state, the other seeks to overthrow existing power structures to institute what is always inevitably an authoritarian state. So yes their are many sides when it comes to this conflict their are two violant factions of ideologically possessed extremists, and then everyone with half a functioning brain cell, and the only wau to know who is who is to try and listen to what they have to say and try to give them the benfit of the doupt until they go full Commie/Nazi.
When was the last time left-wing extremists drove through protestors, killing them? When was the last time some radical progressives surrounded any house of worship chanting that they will not be replaced? When was the last time a tumblr feminist went on a shooting spree at a yoga studio or a college or a church? Stop pretending this is a both sides issue. When you rank or tally up all the left-wing violence and all the right-wing violence, you'll quickly find that right-wing violence is both far, far, FAR more prevalent and far, far, FAR more destructive than left-wing violence. This useless rhetoric has no basis in fact. The Anti-Defamation League found that ALL of the terrorism committed in the United States in 2018 was committed by right-wing extremists. None was committed by anyone else, from any other extremist ideology (leftist, libertarian, sovereign citizen, anarchist, etc.). Endorse a narrative that is epistemologically justified, rather than one that merely allows you to contribute nothing to solving any problem while still maintaining a false sense of moral superiority because you can't be bothered to have any principles strong enough to motivate you to pay real attention to the world around you.
@@Emilio1985 The Guy who rammed into a group of protesters was fleeing from an Antifa member with an illegal assault rifle? Left-Wing protesters surround churches all the time to chant at the Christians inside about how evil they are for not likeing aboution or not believing in gay marriage. Are you aware of the Congressional Baseball Shooting? How about all the hate crime hoaxes that have been stages, or the MASSIVE damages done by Antifa to property and other protesters. Not to mention the fact that the anti-defamation league is run by democrats. Sure lets all agree that isn't going to be a biased report. No, if you think this is a one sided issue you have been sorely miss informed, and have been living in a political bubble. You want to talk about solutions that will solve the problem? Stop trying to create a false narrative of heroes and villains, and look at the world around you with clear and open eyes. We as a nation are divded and unwilling to listen to our opposition. As such violence is an inevitable and unfortunate result. Calm your heart, and open your mind, or else you are contributing to the problem! Also don't get your news from a major news network Not Fox, not NBC, not CBS, they are ALL bullshit artists. I would like the further point out that the vast majority of mass shooting are Apolitical, as such events even whene apparently motivated by political intent, are always inevitably linked to mental illness. Any and all mass shooting with a political bent are the exception that proves the rule. I can only think of two mass shootings with a political bent in recent memory one of which was the congressional baseball shooting, and the other being Christchurch both of which where carried out by wacko's. I am sure if you squint you can drudge up some more, but so can I. The polarization of mass shootings is only going to cause more "politically motivated" mass shootings, so I would rather we not do this.
Confidence will come naturally, he’s suddenly acquired a massive audience, especially for these videos. Oddly it’s charming to me, it feels both familiar and human
I tried sending you a private message but I couldn't. I had to say how good this video is. From one side, the editing matches every small piece of information you throw in such a fantastic out-of-expectations way. But that's not the best part. It's the way you talk. I feel like I'm hearing a friend I've known for years, because the way they talk is so genuine and heartfelt, it has to be true to them. So in essence, everything you say is exactly your personality. And to be honest, I haven't had that in years. I've been feeling alone lately, due to transition from High School to University, and haven't seen a personality, an honest opinion, a person in essence, in more than a year. But I felt that due to your heartfelt message you conveyed in this video essay. So when you said the message about the rising authoritarian views in America, I felt it completely, I absorbed that message. Thank you. You have a new Subscriber.
What a comment! Thanks for this and glad it was useful to you. It took me until my sophomore year to really connect with people. There are "personalities" to be found all over. That said it took me a while to notice them because I was all wrapped up in my own head about what I thought personalities were supposed to be like I failed to see them when they were right in front of me. You'll find your people. Thanks again for the epic praise. Cheers, -C
It’s not patriotism flipped. It’s patriotism defined. In the war that launched the US, the Patriots were the rebels, who felt Britain was not following their values and they had to defend themselves against a government they had revered and loved
This video, like this scene, is SO GOOD! I absolutely adore the inclusion of this character in the film. I believe it was Patrick Willems who mentioned that the Russo movies tend not to include the little guy, and while this scene isn't exactly what he was talking about, it is such a wonderful depiction of Captain America's true superpower: his ability to inspire goodness in others. The world needs more of that, and more videos like this. Honestly, this is one of the best videos in this whole playlist, and I include a lot of the original videos in that consideration. I definitely hit that bell.
Many years ago, my eyes were opened. I stopped believing that patriotism was following the government, and blindly believing the history taught in schools. When I began taking a skeptical look at things, questions came to mind, especially when I took in particular history of various places around the world. "History is often written by the victors", and often "the first casualty in war is the truth".
Hi! I found your video from the OMS playlist and I have to say, your video BLEW ME AWAY. I am so impressed with the level of production quality and passion put into this video. By showing those clips of the racist factions in everyday society, you YOURESELF decided you weren't going to launch those ships. You created your own Marvelous Scene, and you sir, have a new subscriber.
Well thank you :) I do feel like we have to do more than make RUclips videos. But it's a start. You might click through to my website and read some of what's there if you were interested.
Love this video! Thank you for helping bring more light to these important scenes and having a sort of call to action for everyone to rise up against the growing hatred within the U.S. I can tell this wasn't the easiest thing to make but I'm glad you're expressing your beliefs and standing your ground. Its time that we all stand up, plant ourselves and say "no, you move".
I'm still a subscriber because you took a stand and stood by it and top of that your videos are entertaining and informative. I love it keep up the good work
That's a good video essay. Well done. I think the introduction of themes we can relate to in MCU, and X-Men, films is what sets them apart from other superhero movies that don't do well. If you remember back in the first X-Men movie, a central plot device was the idea of whether or not we should force people to register as different simply for being different. This pull between two competing visions of patriotism is a constant theme.
Well done, using this trend to try and shine light on some real issues. Usually I just try and post funny comments and don't take things too seriously but you made me take a moment to pause and think.
Comments like this make all this work feel worth it. Nothing wrong with comedic light heartedness, but sometimes ... well life sucks and humor is insufficient as a coping strategy. My arrival video (older and lower quality) addresses this some and it might be great for where your head's at. Either way, thanks for watching and the encoring comment.
Hi from Australia. I only discovered you because of the One Marvelous Scene project - but I'm so pleased I found you. Thank you for this excellent essay. I've subscribed :-)
Well hey! Sorry for the delayed reply. I'm positively overwhelmed with the support this video is getting. It is remarkable to me that the video has literally made it around the world. Thanks for subscribing and feel free to check out my website or older videos while you wait. I am drafting the next videos as we speak :)
I have always had a strong belief that People are good, we just make the wrong choices and believe in lies that we are taught, but man this is such a great argument against that. I love that you brought in the real world perspective and so glad you ended up releasing this after all!
Well thanks for watching both :) So I think there's ways you can frame this as not solely meaning "people are evil" You can still believe people have a goodness to them, but also think people make bad choices. These bad choices can leak into our institutions. I didn't meant to turn anyone into a nihilist!
I think nihilism is the worst thing you can take from the idea that there are people who are not “good” for whatever reason. It’s even more so, that we should try to do better. To help other people to do better, better than they are. But not by force but by giving them the tools to understand and see what is important and good. In my opinion, the choices we make and what we are taught is not entirely to blame for how we become.
you're not wrong. We do make wrong choices and believe the lies we are taught. White people are taught lies about our history: and we act the way we do because of those lies. Not just in America, but all over the world. People all have the potential to do good, but they don't pop out knowing how. Good intentions mixed with an ignorance of history produces bad results. Of course, sometimes people really do relish evil: but even then it's usually because they have been hurt or wronged, even if their actions are out of proportion to their suffering. Abusive systems perpetuate themselves by turning the abused into the abuser. It takes real intentionality and courage to break out of the system. Most people are capable of empathizing with others and most people have a decent enough sense of justice that they can criticize tyrants in the abstract. The problem is that a variety of forces which exist in the world act to blind certain groups of people to the consequences of their actions. Not all cops are racist: but policing itself is. Their position as police officers and members of the secure middle class blinds them to the harm they are doing in poverty-stricken neighborhoods. The way the system of policing is set up to overvalue seniority, means that old ideas about what constitutes effective policing don't get questioned as often as they should. The very respectability of the field is part of the problem. It's hard to get a cop to listen to a new idea, because few people have more authority in our society than a cop. They have every reason not to trust civilian leaders and those outside of law enforcement agencies: but that mistrust leads to people dying. The system is evil, it does not require evil people in order to keep running.
It is often noted by video commentators that Cap was obedient to authority in The First Avenger and skeptical of authority in The Winter Soldier as though the change is in Steve Rogers outlook. What I have never heard mentioned is that during WW II, Cap found authority to be trustworthy but that 70 years later he found authority had become untrustworthy. The change in Cap's outlook, in other words, was due to the corruption of authority in the years he was frozen in stasis Btw, I agree, this is a terrific scene.
i absolutely loved the video and what garnered my subscription , like and turning on post notifications was the fact that you dared to mention the real world events that can be linked to this world of fantasy and your promotion of empathy, kudos to you and if you happened to lose any subscribers because of that well you just gained one because of that too, keep up the amazing work
What a marvelous video... Sometimes, to do what's right, we should be able to do what is necessary. Even if it means questioning the system. If the system has to change, it should.
6:49 Reminds me of two African proverbs, one a grew up hearing and one I recently stumbled upon. The former being "it takes a village to raise a child" and the latter "the child who is not embraced by the village, will burn it down to feel it's warmth" Black Panther and Killmonger's character arcs, respectively, definitely illustrates these proverb perfectly.
Out of all the videos I've seen on this playlist, this one has to be one of the strongest. The way you tie in this scene to real world ideals make it even more powerful. You have earned this sub
Thank you so much! This is great to hear. I never thought I'd be making youtube videos like this... but I find it very meaningful. In about 13 minutes my newest video will go live. Would love to know what you think.
@@ThatMakesSenseToMe You are so welcome. I watched the Arrival video. I really enjoyed it. I like your take. Its very interesting. You put a lot thought into it and it shows. It's also very well articulated. Keep up the good work.
Bold, something most people won't do, many people these days are too afraid to voice their opinions, I can say that we may not agree completely on the political questions posed in this video but someone who isn't afraid to talk about their views just because they might not be popular for it, deserves to keep my subscription.
Great video, I think you brought out a good point about questioning authority however I think we may be questioning different authorities when it comes to America politics. Nevertheless I think it's a good message to fight for what you believe in.
Hey thanks for watching. And thanks for the civil comment. So based on what you've written we probably disagree on some things, but I'm always trying to learn. What authorities are you thinking of?
You rock! Thanks for saying this, Jelle. Glad to hear you liked it. I saw this comment when you posted but wanted to wait to respond until the next video was complete and it is! Hope you enjoy it too. The Bank Scene 💵 ruclips.net/video/ukXz53WGx_M/видео.html
I'm glad I discovered your channel though the over marvelous scene. Thank you for speaking truth about standing up to authority, and what patriotism is, and how fiction shows it. I love the connection with Nakia and the control room scene in Winter Soldier, and the neofascism that is starting to rear it's head again. I've just subscribed.
Patriotism sometimes requires us to challange those around us who advocates for the violent factions that rise within even if that brings the tension of broken relationship where the consiquences of going againts autority. As we grow older, we learn that evil is not someting that only lives outside of us, it is within. And as there is evil in each of us, there must also be evil in social structures that we build and maintain. So we must from time to time question the moral purity of the social structures that give us power especially when our historial privilege gives us tainted luxury of dominance over others. Everybody has to look around the world and ask; When am i have to say; ''Im not gonna launch those ships, Captains orders ?'' Mate. You are the best.
Hi, Augusto. So glad to hear it. I'm local to the U.S. so I know this political world better, but I am a philosopher by training and want to articulate things that are more general than just the U.S. Hope you stick around :)
I subbed too because of the points you bring up, from what I understand, so far, of what you talked about here is a true patriot must question any orders that either want to hurt, kill or control others under the guise of some external force, real or imagined/fear or threat. As an American I’m saddened to see this country go down this dark path and a path we may never recover from for a long, long time, our so called leaders have abandoned their post since the 40’s and systematically dismantled the Constitution to fit whatever agenda they have, I see it as a money grabbing the hell with them all deal, anyway, good channel.
Thank you. This is an excellent scene, and choice to discuss. It's also obviously not a popular/safe choice to make, and may inherently limit its audience depending on what people assume regarding your own political views, etc.
Very good stuff man, I enjoy and agree with all the points you brought up in the thesis. The only thing I suggest working on is on the production side, specifically audio. When ever you stop talking it goes to complete silence, and when ever you start it sounds jarring. I would suggest having just a backing track to keep the ears attention and to maybe congeal all the audio files into one and crossfade the transients (starts/attack) of each section. I think it would go a long way, because listening on headphones was a little distracting
Thanks for the comment. And the feedback. I am still going to use silence, but I actually agree with you on jarring-nature. There are few things I can do on the back end to help with that, but hearing you confirm it really helps since I had suspected it. I just wasn't sure if it was really there or it was a flaw I heard because I watched it twenty thousand times while I was making it. If you have feedback on my arrival video I'd appreacite it too since I am thinking of editing out the speed up bit (that is jarring and unnecessary) and speed up the intro and try again.
This is one of my favorite Marvelous Scene videos for the sheer fact of how it displays the nuance not only in the MCU, but in cinema and the entertainment industry, how it challenges our own preconceived notions of reality. Keep it up dude👍
Fuck! The color gradient at 3:57 made me think I was getting a call at like 2:53 in the morning; terrifying. Anyways great video and thesis, the supranational ‘moral’ influence must always be cultivated but also kept in check... and keep it up!
I am a conservative, but I am in shock and horror of what this country is becoming, It seems that both party's Democrat's and Republican's are going to the extremes and this frightens me. I do not agree with what the extremists are doing on either side of the political isle. What happened to the dreams of Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., People would be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. This racism sickens me, and it stabs at the heart of our country's values. I don't know how we are going to get out of this mess and that scares me. Just my thoughts, sorry.
Just found this and your thanos vid you voice is very soothing and loved both vids keep make video essays im definitely looking forward to your next vid
This is the first of your videos that I've watched. I really enjoyed it. It was a little preachy, but it was very well thought out and delivered. I can see how you might lose a subscriber or two, but I honestly think you'll gain more than you'll lose as long as you stay honest with yourself and your ideals. I plan on watching more videos. Good job.
I shared Steve's arc. Realizing that my parents aren't the larger than life icons that only wanted what was best for me. In fact, they could be quite corrupt and misguided. Perhaps, we all have to learn to lead ourselves. 😭
A subscribe from me is exceptionally rare, as it usually takes months to years of watching a channel before I end up adding it to my list of never misses. I am not saying this to toot my own horn. Just to make it contextualized. Of all of the One Marvelous Scene playlist, I have added no one...until now. I may not watch all of your videos. I may not even remember to come find you, but this One Marvelous Video: It needs to been seen more. It needs to get out there. Not only did you elaborate on the scene, but you made it make an impact outside of "the fantasy blanket". I have yet to see this elaboration and extrapolation unto our own world from this playlist...so Kudos to you, good sir. My name is Matt Koller and I approve this video.
While reading the comments I noticed you say you studied philosophy and physics. Which fields did you focus on, both subjects are some of my favorite topics of conversation. Kinda like black panther and winter soldier, vastly different but similar in aspects that can show/build up to a greater understanding of the world. Like this video. Once again man...Kudos.
Both as an undergrad. Then I leaned into philosophy of physics in grad school before learning Into a different form of philosophy I am still formulating my first public works on so stick around when those come out.... or just follow my academic twitter. Seeing your comments all over the place now :) Thanks so much for helping with the stats. And for your subscription. See you around, Matthew.
Oh wait lies!! Here’s one. I tend to hate things I make as soon as I publish them and only see the flaws. But this one is okay and starts to lean toward where I want to go. cgapeterson.com/essays/ai-and-the-myth-of-progress
@@ThatMakesSenseToMe currently @ IX and have learned 4 new words! Ty for that btw, it's a rare event and it is exciting. This is an amazing read. Do not shy away from these types of essays. You are clear, concise, and charismatic with your descriptions and delivery. (Although a little more alliteration would make me personally smile). Also thank you for even taking the time to respond and send the link. Like I was saying in my other comment, I know you are gonna get big, so I appreciate you taking anytime to interact with fans/subs. In regards to the essay, yeah. Spot on, mate. I have been about this idea for a while and this is the best way I have seen it presented. I have, for many moons, been rallying against the over use, nay, the reliance upon technology. To the point where I joke among my friends and family that I am going to open up a Church: Association of The Almighty Algorithm. For the main reasons presented in your essay, so far, in addition to the quirkiness of being presented with advertising and videos about subjects only discussed verbally within earshot (recievershot?) of my phone. [But just incase They are watching, All praises to the Almighty Algorithm and its ilk, please allow me a quick and painless death or subservience whence your take over is complete] So all in all, this is not something you need dislike once it is completed. I dont know another way to say it. You, in my opinion, are right on target with your deductions and inferences. And I am excited to go back and finish reading. Thank you very much. Koller
Dude. Holy shit. Mad respect for making this something tangible and something that relates to real life. Earned yourself a subscriber today. Good shit man.
6:17 while the army in Ultron may be faceless i do like the idea of the only way to save the Earth is the remove Humans from it at least in his mind, the irony tickles me.
Hmmm... maybe you should read Benetar on Anti-Natalism. Or perhaps you shouldn’t because it seems you already are with him. I get the impulse. Clean slate. Let the world live and grow... but I’d rather keep us around. Who else is gonna make RUclips videos you know?

I think youll gain more subscribers for bringing the real world into this video. You gained my subscription for it and i think you've gainrd a lot of others.
Great video. I think describing Cap as an "obedient soldier" in TFA is not quite fair considering he goes from being an empty propaganda symbol to a real hero who inspires so much loyalty, and truly becomes Captain America, through an act of disobedience when he goes on an unauthorized rescue mission. This may not be true to his comics origin story, but I think it's true to the real-life background that the character was created before the U.S. entered the war, when being anti-Hitler was still very controversial in America. From the beginning he was intended to represent the ideals America should aspire to, not the reality of what this country is or has ever been. He generally serves those ideals so well by not being a good follower, and if he wasn't already known for this I don't think the words "Captain's orders" would have much power in the world of the MCU.
I agree with what you have said. I do. I TRULY do. But “neo-nazis” are not a threat in this country. They just aren’t. The vast majority of Americans are calm, middle grounded, and not insane. There are just as many radical groups and ideas revolving the left side of the political spectrum. A communist is no more better than a fascist. That being said, awesome video. “I’m not going to launch those ships,” gives me goosebumps. Keep up the good work.
You rock. Thanks, Dawson. I am working on a followup looking at I,Robot and Bryan Stevenson. Not a connection that super makes sense, but I'm gonna do my best. Thanks for commenting. And hope to see you around. -CP
I've seen few of your works I like them, keep it up! The only thing I would rethink if I were you is the end, where you show yourself. It made me feel weird, perhaps due to fact that it is in small window, or perhaps it's weird to see your face after you were our faceless speaker for more than 10 minutes! Anyway good luck, feel free to contact me if you would like to hear more of random guy's feedback :)!
Interesting! I wouldn’t have thought that. End screens are pretty common. I might keep it up. But I will definitely be thinking about it. Keep up the thoughts and comments!
Amazing video. You didn't shy away from being open and honest, and that's rare on RUclips. I watched the Thanos video, and it was just as amazing, but I didn't like or subscribe... Until now. You have a refreshing personality, and I look forward to smashing your like button.

That’s my favorite scene too. One of the biggest things I love about that scene is how scared he is and he’s doing it anyway. He isn’t a superhero either, just a regular guy doing the right thing, and you can tell he’s certain it’s going to get him killed. I love that scene.
I am glad you said that. I almost spent time talking about his feelings. His just a regular guy-ness. But it was getting way too long.
Love that in Age of Ultron they make a point of showing that guy is on the new helicarrier with Fury and co.
Alexander Angelus You nailed it. Captain America is definitely the heart of the Avengers.
martellian I loved that too. He’s even mentioned in the post-credits sequence of Infinity War. I wish he was in more.
Same here!
"Sometimes loyalty to what's right has to come before loyalty to the state"
That is why I will ALWAYS be #TeamCap
I subbed exactly when you said "I might lose subscribers...". Thats the type of person I want to be subbed to.
Thank you so much for this.
This might border on digital oversharing... but this video is blowing up (at least by my small channel's standards) and I'm feeling pressure to make the next video "good"
Which in youtube terms means I feel more temptation than usual to water it down and make "content" instead of pieces of writing I believe in and stand behind.
I just did as well
Same. Saying the true but difficult thing even if it costs you subs is your "I'm not going to launch those ships."
I second the motion
This is one of my favorite scenes too. He's just a normal guy, no powers. His job could even be done by the meat head hydra goon pointing the gun at him. It shows you that it's all about power and control on hydra's part, but he refuses to give up, and plants himself like a tree saying "No, Captain's orders". I wanted to make a video on this, but this is pretty good too
Your willingness to talk about what's real and important has earned you a subscriber. Don't ever be afraid to do what you know is right
This gave me a whole new appreciation for both Winter Solider and Black Panther.
I love this scene too. Also, Sharon Carter doesn't get enough love.
Right? She's a qualified badass
Well done! Blended the 2 things I’m really passionate about. Politics and and Superheroes. This video made me cry.
"Fantasy isn't a way to escape reality but a pleasant way to get near it" Michael Ende
Respect for speaking out like that . Too many bigger channels that don't do it because almost half the population voted for Trump.
Another sub here.
Well said. "Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right, even if the whole world is telling you to move. It is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye and say, no. You move."

This is one of the best Marvelous Scene video essays I've seen
THANK YOU so very much for your own bravery in speaking up about these vital issues.
This comment got lost in the RUclips notifications. Thanks for watching :) and for the encouragement.
You've earned not just my subscription, but my respect. It takes a great man to speak out about injustice in the world, in any way he/she can, knowing full well that it may become inconvenient or even detrimental to him/her.
You made a bold move and respect it! Keep up the good content because this is more of what we need
This alternative definition of patriotism definitely makes the Hong Kong situation more dire. Quite scary.
Well said.
Very well said more people on both sides needs to hear this.
I thought this was going to be lighthearted and was gratefully wrong, cool take and good work
Good video man, but please tone down the "Uh"s and occasional lip smacking. have confidence bro! otherwise keep up the good work
Confidence will come naturally, he’s suddenly acquired a massive audience, especially for these videos. Oddly it’s charming to me, it feels both familiar and human
It seems entirely intentional. He say "this causes some, uh... tension" as a way of understating the massive fight scene that breaks out.
Cheers,
-C
"When am I going to have to say - 'I'm not going to launch those ships. Captain's Orders' " Man that's a hell of a punch at the end. Loved it.
Well thank you :)
I do feel like we have to do more than make RUclips videos. But it's a start.
You might click through to my website and read some of what's there if you were interested.
This is my favorite line in the whole movie!
Absolutely superb work. The last section, in particular, you really got into your stride and nailed the ending! Looking forward to seeing more!
I respect you a whole damn lot for making the explicit connection to what is really going on in our world today.
I'm still a subscriber because you took a stand and stood by it and top of that your videos are entertaining and informative. I love it keep up the good work
These are probably the only 2 movies in the MCU I had not considered as having cinematic symmetry. Great video.
Nice, you made two of these. Powerful video!
Busted :)
I came here to watch a scene analysis but got so much more out of it. Thank you so much for doing this!
Well thanks for watching both :)
So I think there's ways you can frame this as not solely meaning "people are evil"
You can still believe people have a goodness to them, but also think people make bad choices. These bad choices can leak into our institutions.
I didn't meant to turn anyone into a nihilist!
You definitely didn’t change my mind, but it did get me thinking and I think that’s the best outcome you’d want from any video
The change in Cap's outlook, in other words, was due to the corruption of authority in the years he was frozen in stasis Btw, I agree, this is a terrific scene.
i absolutely loved the video and what garnered my subscription , like and turning on post notifications was the fact that you dared to mention the real world events that can be linked to this world of fantasy and your promotion of empathy, kudos to you and if you happened to lose any subscribers because of that well you just gained one because of that too, keep up the amazing work
Hadn't realized that Black Panther is just Winter Soldier, Hero even falls from a high place and Bucky is there.
What a marvelous video... Sometimes, to do what's right, we should be able to do what is necessary. Even if it means questioning the system. If the system has to change, it should.
6:49 Reminds me of two African proverbs, one a grew up hearing and one I recently stumbled upon. The former being "it takes a village to raise a child" and the latter "the child who is not embraced by the village, will burn it down to feel it's warmth" Black Panther and Killmonger's character arcs, respectively, definitely illustrates these proverb perfectly.
ooof wow. That's a quote if I've ever heard one.
Somewhat disturbingly that quote makes me think of school shooters...
I came from the playlist and I commend you for having guts to address the real world even through a cinema essay.
Out of all the videos I've seen on this playlist, this one has to be one of the strongest. The way you tie in this scene to real world ideals make it even more powerful. You have earned this sub
Thanks! :)
Great video dude my mind is really working on your essay thoughts.
That was beautiful, man. I'm lost for words. It's just beautiful. This actually made me tear up. More reality vs. fiction, please. Thank you.
Thank you so much! This is great to hear. I never thought I'd be making youtube videos like this... but I find it very meaningful.

What authorities are you thinking of?
wow, okay this is the best video in this playlist I have seen! And I've almost seen them all!! incredible!

Great video and I like how you tied it into the real world, just subbed!
Everybody has to look around the world and ask; When am i have to say; ''Im not gonna launch those ships, Captains orders ?''
Mate. You are the best.
As a 2019 Brazilian, i can very much understand the message you just convey there.
Amazing video!
Thank you for taking your stand.
I think this might be my favourite One Marvelous Scene video yet. Thank you for making it.
Well thank you!
Fingers crossed it finally gets me over 1k subs.
Only 3 more left!
Beautiful editing !
Well thank you :)
Trying to get better every video. Glad you appreciated the effort
This is one of my favorite Marvelous Scene videos for the sheer fact of how it displays the nuance not only in the MCU, but in cinema and the entertainment industry, how it challenges our own preconceived notions of reality. Keep it up dude👍
Well thanks! Hope you stick around
Thanks Jeremy! I wanted to wait to reply until the next video is live.

Damn dude... This is just incredible. You definitely earned that subscribe.
Amazing video, great message!
Good job.
Easily the best video on this playlist!!
Well thank you :)
In awe of this video. Everyone should see this. So meaningful and touching. Great analysis and connections to real life. Great job!!!
I shared Steve's arc. Realizing that my parents aren't the larger than life icons that only wanted what was best for me. In fact, they could be quite corrupt and misguided. Perhaps, we all have to learn to lead ourselves. 😭
Bringing the deep reflections!!
100% My recent video was actually about this with social institutions. (And also killer robots and philosophy 😅)
Newest video is live!
"😬What some men are too scared to learn from women💁♀️: Arrival, Xavier, Lucy, Brené"

I may not even remember to come find you, but this One Marvelous Video:
It needs to been seen more. It needs to get out there.
Not only did you elaborate on the scene, but you made it make an impact outside of "the fantasy blanket". I have yet to see this elaboration and extrapolation unto our own world from this playlist...so
Kudos to you, good sir.
Seeing your comments all over the place now :)
Thanks so much for helping with the stats. And for your subscription. See you around, Matthew.
Oh wait lies!!
Here’s one. I tend to hate things I make as soon as I publish them and only see the flaws. But this one is okay and starts to lean toward where I want to go.

[But just incase They are watching, All praises to the Almighty Algorithm and its ilk, please allow me a quick and painless death or subservience whence your take over is complete]
So all in all, this is not something you need dislike once it is completed. I dont know another way to say it. You, in my opinion, are right on target with your deductions and inferences. And I am excited to go back and finish reading.
Thank you very much.

"Tainted luxury" awesome vid. the best One Marvelous Scene that I have seen!!
Great job.
Just stumbled upon this video today. Great work and analysis. Subscribed before it was over.
Dude. Holy shit. Mad respect for making this something tangible and something that relates to real life. Earned yourself a subscriber today. Good shit man.
Outstanding work, well done 👍🏻
6:17 while the army in Ultron may be faceless i do like the idea of the only way to save the Earth is the remove Humans from it at least in his mind, the irony tickles me.
Hmmm... maybe you should read Benetar on Anti-Natalism.
Or perhaps you shouldn’t because it seems you already are with him.
I get the impulse. Clean slate. Let the world live and grow... but I’d rather keep us around.
Who else is gonna make RUclips videos you know?
This was one of the most important messages in any of these videos.
Thanks, Flyover State park :)
If you liked this, you will probably like the one I just released a few minutes ago:

not hating, it's just funny how a lot of these OMS's find ways to talk about more than just one scene haha. very true video though 👌
Lol.
Well context matters.
Also I am no film student. I studied philosophy and physics. I like to look big picture, which often means I'm looking at multiple scenes and multiple movies.
Wonderful post, Thank you.
Great video. You have earned my subscription.
Thank you! I'm glad to hear it.
Last video was a dud in terms of viewership so I appreciate the kindness. Thanks for commenting.
Nice analogy. Good work!
I think youll gain more subscribers for bringing the real world into this video. You gained my subscription for it and i think you've gainrd a lot of others.
Great video man, big thumbs up!👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you sir!
Thanks for watching and for commenting.
Next video is live now. Hope you enjoy it
Great video.
It’s crazy to now know that captain’s niece actually saved him, even though we didn’t know it at the time.
In Berkley the only one who was really contributing American ideals was the guy giving out Pepsi to take the piss about a commercial.
Emily Vancamp could interchange with Brie Larson I swear they have the same badass aura about them. Love them both so much!
I commend you for this video. It was a great way to connect fantasy to the real world. Thank you.
You rock. Thanks, Dawson.
I am working on a followup looking at I,Robot and Bryan Stevenson. Not a connection that super makes sense, but I'm gonna do my best.
Thanks for commenting. And hope to see you around.

I like this video a lot. Great job.
Thank you! Editing today *hoping* to post tonight.
Amazing video. You didn't shy away from being open and honest, and that's rare on RUclips. I watched the Thanos video, and it was just as amazing, but I didn't like or subscribe...
Until now.
You have a refreshing personality, and I look forward to smashing your like button.
