Ford Ranger Raptor, worth the hype?

- The Ford Ranger Raptor is most probably the biggest hyped bakkie (Ute/Truck/Pickup - we call it a "bakkie" in South Africa)since the Mercedes-Benz X-Class. The Ranger Raptor certenly has some big shoes to fill when it comes to the Raptor name as the F150 Raptor is the best selling special edition "bakkie" in the world!
We wanted to know if its all show and no go, is it really worth the hype and that R800k price tag? Watch our video to find out. Please note that the vehicle is privatley owned and we didn't want to destroy it or push it to the limits even though the vehicle is more than capable to handle us. Emm, I think there something has been missed in the video in regards to the uniqueness of the Ranger Raptor, first off, the Fox shocks coilovers are specifically designed for this truck, the damping rate combined with the dedicated spring rates means that u won't be able to reach the performance to that level outright from any aftermarket parts, secondly, the ladder frame has been strengthened off on a normal Ranger, means that u won't be able to get it from the aftermarket as well, the third, the rear has got completely different GEOMETRY that determined that u won't be able to achieve the same level of performance when you chuck in regular lift kits as u would get from the stock Ranger Raptor.

Ford ranger raptor is designed & purpose built for off road condition,while the Toyota hilux is designed for cargo loading w/not so extreme off road.

Great bakkie with a little hart. If VW merge with Ford DC for the next model like roomers are, their V 6 and 8 speed auto would make this a winner!

Hi henri wolbrink, that is a aftermarket nudge bar that the owner got installed through the local Ford dealer.

Hi Thabang Modiga, unfortunately it doesn’t. It is only available with the same 2 liter biturbo Diesel engine you get in the Wildtrak Ranger. Not a bad engine at all

Really?! Mine is 16 month old already and I love driving it everyday. I sold my Old 2000 Honda Civic because my Rapto r is a lot lighter to drive and and more comfortable.
Raptors are overpriced garbage. My friend has had to rescue dozens of these idiot owners getting stuck off roading. Bad driver in a shitty truck = disaster.
