Can you guys do a video of each of these bakkies in a 4x2 variant on a off-road course or even just a video to show case how capable a 4x2 with diff-lock can be?
@@TumeloManamela Hard top on the back, not the largest engine they sell (3l v6) and it still won. Rangers do look nice, the hilux is tough for off roading ect but then none of them are shit off road... when it comes to speed though the amarok is still no.1.

Ford should offer the 2.3, 2.7 & 3.5 Ecoboost petrol engines in the Ranger. Yes I know the majority of the population want diesel for fuel efficiency and longevity, however I’m not one of those people. I don’t want a low revving tractor sounding engine, I have the 4.0 V6 Hilux from 2009 and I love it, I simply couldn’t replace it with a diesel. Thankfully Toyota still offers the 4.0 in its latest Hilux, but I’m more of a Ford man myself, I’d love the new Ranger Raptor with the 2.7 V6 or 3.5 V6 Ecoboost from the F-150. I know the market for these engines in SA isn’t that big, everyone wants a diesel, but I know I’m not the only one who would appreciate Ford brining back some decent petrol engine offerings to the Ranger.

I have an Amarok bi-turbo 4 motion and I thought the ranger would be ahead by far...but not. Weight related or transmission performance maybe. I had a Ranger 3.2 and liked it too but the Amarok has more space and above all, MUCH better traction and active safety with its torsen 4wd. You can reverse in ramp without wheel spin, Ranger you have to put in 4H in same condition, and you can't turn...or damage diff. AWD is far superior to rear drive. And with the very short 1st gear no need of low range towing or off roading. Only lacks rear airbags I agree. Mine is 220cv with stage 2 ecu remap/intake/exhaust, this engine is very though, never heard of engine breaking, whereas many 2.2 rangers had their engine broken due to oil pump issue. Still all 3 are great pick up.
But there is a one called "an invincible " that is only one.... l am a wildlife photographer now over a decade and taken photos of over a thousand with this 4 x4 with no problem in all kinds of off road . It is on top . Now l have the second vehicle and that is with 3 liter engine. Super!

In my opinion these things are only short term toys. I will keep my troopie and 100 series as long as i wish. Blissfully immune to the need to replace my car regularly which is what the motoring consumer has been corralled into.
Not all cars are built to shit, not in the pick up world anyway. Luxury cars and cars for city folk yeah, they're crap... problem is most people don't/can't do the most basic of services on their car, hell most don't even swap out their own oil anymore, it's quite frankly fucking embarrassing. The issue is people have been led to believe they can just "get another" which is why there are literall graveyards of cars with 100's of 1000's of cars brand new, sat there rotting away. Thank god for my old 2005 l200... basic equipment, takes a shit load of abuse. easy to maintain, and just keeps on ticking away happy as.
Hi guys can any one explain to me why is it that toyota hilux can reach 195/200km/h with only 130kw and a Ford ranger 3.2 MY16(147kw) only reaches 182km/h. I don't know if maybe my Ford ranger has lost couple of kw because its acceleration seems to be slower compared to a hilux as well ?. Not that I'm encouraging driving over the speed limit especially with a bakkie but sometimes a man would want to compare his machine to it's rivals.
its the speed limiter on both, they can do a bit more if it was not there. Please also note that the hilux speedo is waaaayyy off. At 195+kmph the gps reads a max of 186kmph or slightly less. The ranger speedo is about 4kmph off at those speeds. But it is just a speed limiter not that ur ranger cant do more, it can!!!

Hi LackOfSanity, like we said in the video, it was the only Hilux that was available at the time of filming. The 4x2 is lighter than the 4x4 and thus it had a weight advantage to its 4x4 sibling.
