      Well really isnt much detail to it, that was pretty much it. You can get into it by tackling opponent, scooping behind both knees or ankles. Key is to get your ridgehands into back of his achilles. Pull up and arch yor back and his too actually. Then turn him over by stepping over him. Pull up on his legs, put one knee into small of back. CAUTION!! CAN BREAK BACK CAUSING PARALYSIS OR DEATH!!!!

    This magic works thanks keenan! Your videos are helping get to purple belt and I've been stuck in blue for six years due to injuries and frail body from overuse in the sport that im a black belt so to speak which is gymnastics like breakdance i competed in the worlds. My neck is very taught and after using any triangle escape I'd need atleast a week off jits from spasms in the neck area post triangle defense. I have started to be stubborn about this purple and took responsibility to teach myself= 99% bullshit videos online made me worse. Found yours= 2 weeks of drilling this escape my black belt friend can't triangle me anymore and my neck does not seize up or take strain in the traps and attachments. I want to deeply thank you and tell everyone that it seems to me your methods are cutting edge genius, hacks to being stuck in jits blues. God bless, hope to meet you in future 🙏

    I’ve been looking for an effective triangle escape. I tried what I saw in some other videos and still found myself getting choked or arm barred because I was posturing or staying centered. I tried this tonight, and it worked perfectly. I did lean to the one side to to relieve pressure, and he wasn’t able to reach my head. Before I even completed the turn, he gave up on the triangle. I’m a blue belt with one stripe. My partner tonight has three stripes on a white. Thanks for the great video.

    I’ve tried this many times, it works against most people at my level. Although when I try it with upper belts (brown/black and even some purple) they tend to catch me with straight arm locks (reversed armbar) as soon as I extend my arm towards their neck/shoulder. It really doesn’t work unless I extend my arm, but now I’m too afraid getting caught to even attempt it against more skilled players.

    I'm only a white belt, but I've now successfully executed this escape against white, blue, and purple belts without getting arm barred. It's so good vs. people my own skill level I'm half tempted to let them triangle me so I can get an easy pass. I tried it against a guy 50 lbs heavier (and 20 years younger) than me with really long legs, he couldn't choke me with the triangle but I couldn't generate enough torque to get out of the triangle. Still better than what he usually does to me in that position. In addition, I've found that the grip Keenan describes is a very strong defensive grip if you just want to chill and catch a breather in somebody's guard. I've grabbed that loop with both hands and have found it to be a very strong defensive position.

  • @BigEco
    @BigEco 5 лет назад +1

    I am convinced, as you show, there is no opportunity for an armbar submission to counter this escape. although I do believe your lapel grip could be broken be power-locking under your arm and hyperextending the elbow joint as you begin to turn which would force you to release your grip.

    • @germzdesantaana3831

      Same concept. With the arm he uses to do the loop grip: place your palm in-between the belly button and groin and pull your elbow (almost to a 12-6o'clock) to the mat by the opponent's hip. The other arm grabs the knee that's thrown over the neck mostly for an anchor but, key position. Go active-toes to bring your weight down from opponent's midsection to tailbone. Finally you start driving your shoulder; you need to rotate your upper body first bringing your chest to the groin. From this point the anchoring hand that's on the knee peels the knee back (this arm should also be at an almost 12-6o'clock position) as you posture up. Keep in mind that the hand that's in-between the belly button and groin is used to pin the body down and will most likely stay there until you are freed. Once out from the triangle, cut in with your knee on the side that peeled the opponent's knee out.

    • @Pherecydes
      @Pherecydes 4 года назад +2

      Very similar, but use the arm that's inside the triangle to frame against the leg that's on your neck. Fundamentally, the triangle has to compress both sides of your neck to work. So you want to turn toward the leg that's on your neck to at least free up the other side of your neck, then lean back and posture up while using your trapped arm to frame against the leg on your neck. You can push your feet into your opponent's armpits or cross them over your opponent's body while you do this as well.

  • @AnonymousPerson488

    Looks like a great escape. I'm wondering though, can you break down exactly what's different about why a belly down arm bar doesn't work in the triangle position as opposed to guard. I'm imagining the person on top making a similar motion in closed guard and the bd arm bar looks fairly easy from there.

      In this front triangle the opponent's hips are in front of the shoulder, or at best, under the armpit. For the armbar to work he'd have to have his hips behind the shoulder. Keenan talks about how pinching the knee stops the opponent adjusting to that position early. Once you turn the corner during defence the attacker is too far from the shoulder to apply the armbar.

    If this was a self defense situation with no gi. Would grabbing the assailants neck be viable for this?

    How about the arm clamp? Arm bar won't do since the guy on the bottom needs to switch hip to do the arm bar. But some guys just push the elbow without switching the hips too much because the arm is already stretched out.

    This is a good escape and def works. When done with perfect arm position and posture there is no chance of armbar or omoplata. But I wouldnt teach this to white belts. I think they will get caught doing this and should probably use alternatives.

    Thanks, practiced this today and it was effective. Would the counter for the bottom person be to reset triangle posture, if the top guy gets that far with such a strong posture, defense? I.e. (grab own, leg, post hands on knees, shoulder walk back, reset the leg circle), go for something else?

    Just a thought as unproven; that maybe without gi handle, I'm thinking base your grip underneath his arm isolating the use of his arm to redirect you!

    For the omaplata, what if they open their own lapel, the one you’re grabbing, right before going for it?

    Thanks for sharing your ideas Keenan. I'm just a white belt, so feel free to ignore this, but there looks like a solid wrist lock opportunity there for the guy on bottom since your arm can't move backward too well. Trap the arm with left hand, grab Keenan's "knocking knuckles" with the right hand and do a crunch to assist in the wrist lock? I know you would also find a way around this as well, and probably not too many people would attempt wrist lock submissions, just wanted to throw my two cents out there.

    What if he lets the right let go and adjusts his right leg across your belly, then throw the left leg over for an arm bar? Hmmm
