I understand the negativity around “brolly” fishing but the pitter patter sound is completely relaxing and almost a tonic … terrific fishing Jon .. your own personal match .. in the voice of Polly, simply simply marvellous 👍🏻
If you got the gear than any day is a good fishing day. Dry and warm with plenty of bites. What more can you ask for. Lovely little video with a few surprises added for entertainment value. This takes me back many a year when we used tofish the River Mole, The Wandle and Old Father Thames in any weather. A great way to relax and while away the time. Thanks Jon for another great little Video with loads of interesting snippets. Thanks
Another great video Jon, as ever! This series has really captured the true joy of fishing. Theres an excitement on the canals I never feel anywhere else. Rivers are great, love lakes, but Canals are the last true frontier for me. Ive had 20lb Pike and 2 and a half LB roach. Witnessed what we presumed was a Catfish strip 300m of 80lb Braid off a aize 8000 reel with a locked clutch. Absolutely magical places as every fish is a prize
Absolutely love these canal videos Jon, a rarity from content creators these days. What a surprising landing that Zander too, brilliant. Thanks for the video in awful conditions
What can you say Jon not only covers match, pleasure and lure fishing he also shows such enthusiasm, passion and a laugh that takes me back to being a child watching the late great John Wilson. Jon is an ambassador for fishing to young and old. 🎣🎣
Another fantastic video Jon nice to see you catching a few fish in the marina even if the skimmer bream weren't there in abundance. It was good to see fish back there after the last time you fished there and found out it had been electro fished
Lovely stuff Jon! I've always liked pleasure fishing in the rain as it keeps people away from you - just me and the fishing, good for the soul and a welcome break from the intensity of match fishing! Impressive to see those zander - they look bigger when caught accidentally on light gear. For all my fishing around the fens I've never had accidental catches of them like that - spent many a cold night fishing for them by design though!
It's strange as Ive always caught a few zander on worms etc on various canals, Oxford, Coventry, Grand Union etc, but you never see anyone catch them fishing worms on rivers like the Avon where I know there are also plenty.
Great watch Jon, lovely couple of hours fishing. I've dug out old composite feeder rod I built many years ago and reduced it from 10 to 8ft. Been fishing it with 1/4oz tip and 4lb mono with small 4 hole 15g feeders. Had some great skimmer catches. Love using it so it'll get an outing on Sunday in our rod & line only match.
It's great to watch a class angler just having a few hours pleasure fishing and not giving a dog's bo##$%$# but just happy to be on the bank .Top Bloke
Great Video Jon I caught a couple of Zanders earlier this year on feeder whilst training for the French second division 6,5 kgs ant 4,8 kgs They don't half pull . they are very good eating apparently so the French tell me
Maybe one day. I used to like fishing the Stainy and New Junction. Did well on the lead on the 160s at Thorne once in a match and I'm sure a day on the mini feeder would be good at Stanilands.
Jon, its been a while since I have been there but the split on the Oxford canal where it comes down under the A40 or heads out to Godstow better know as Dukes lock used to be an incredible place for big Bream, pretty sure they got in there from the Thames. You are fishing with the white house just slightly to your left with the cut bridge before it, weighed in Bream over 6lb on that peg but was some years ago
Cheers Martin. Thats actually already earmarked on my places to visit, just working out how best to get there and park up as it all looks a bit dodgy! Ive spent hours scanning maps of the area!
Delightful way to fish, Jon. I love to use a short delicate quiver rod and a small feeder on canals. Worms and worse, pinkies are notorious for doubling over on the hook and losing you fish. Seems to be one of the hazards of fishing hard on the bottom. They must wriggle about and impale themselves twice on the point.
Not been a bad year so far on canals - I've had some lovely bream & perch on the GU & sometimes just taking a quiver tip to the canal can be more fun than bagging up on carp at my go-to club lake.
Hi Jon, I’ve had some cracking feeder days there in the winter, better than the pole for the bream as you can get closer to the boats where the water could be slightly warmer. I use a little 7 ft shimano winkle picker !!!!
Nice to hear Jeff, I actually wish Id fished a metre or so closer on the day, somewhere between the two swims as it's a fraction deeper. Always caught well at 11/13m on the pole. Will go back with the wagglier one day...
With the extensive knowledge you have and a proven track record of successfully competing at a high level. Why are you not fishing for Team England Jon? I'm baffled!
Never actually wanted to and even when I was in my prime I still knew I wasnt good enough or interested enough to master key things, such as slider fishing, bleak fishing etc and hadn't the time or money to commit to hours of practice with work and family commitments. It's a big big sacrifice and fair play to the ones who do.
The problem with a brolly is there to big, I only use one mainly for shade in the summer, someone needs to make one twice the size of a bait brolly would be perfect.
I love a day on a canal ,,mud pigs don't do it for me ,,😊 and u only need a bit of bait ,I live near a commercial and u need a kilo of worms to compete even more plus other baits as well that's £50 before u cast in 😮
It must cost the CRT a fortune which they more than likely don't have in bank repairs alone. Great video though John, been enjoying these feeder files 👍
Jon I could not stand the noise of the rain on the brolly it reminded me of fishing on the canal as a kid. I hate fishing in the rain. Well done in very difficult conditions.
I understand the negativity around “brolly” fishing but the pitter patter sound is completely relaxing and almost a tonic … terrific fishing Jon .. your own personal match .. in the voice of Polly, simply simply marvellous 👍🏻
Simply simply lovely! 😉
Brilliant video John in not the best of weathers, really do enjoy your vlogs thankyou.
Glad you like them!
Great video John , full respect going out in that weather 🎣🫶🏼
Thanks, mad really but only chance I had 👍

Absolutely love these canal videos Jon, a rarity from content creators these days. What a surprising landing that Zander too, brilliant. Thanks for the video in awful conditions
A brace of zander surprised me as I actually struggle to catch them on lures in that bit!
Thanks Jon for another great fishing adventure, best of all I didn't get a bit wet at all!! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it from the shelter of your home!
Loving the series! And a good mixed bag there, just missing an eel
ASMR hearing the raindrops on the brolly
Thanks for watching!
What a special session! A great watch. Fishing light, mostly with vintage wands and winkelpickers, is my personal „thing”. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love it when you say one last cast 😁 I know you are going to have a dozen more . Love the series Jon keep them coming.
About 100 last casts this time!
What can you say Jon not only covers match, pleasure and lure fishing he also shows such enthusiasm, passion and a laugh that takes me back to being a child watching the late great John Wilson. Jon is an ambassador for fishing to young and old. 🎣🎣
Thanks for the appreciation and support :-)

Thanks! Will do!

Sounds great! Something very satisfying about chucking a little 4-hole!
Thanks once again for a superb video and still no carp in sight, look after your self
Glad you enjoyed it

Thanks Michael, glad you appreciate it
Cracking video Jon I wouldn't even let my dog out in that weather, lol
It typically stopped raining when I got home!
Brilliant jon really enjoyed it. Coulnt believe you got Zander..
Nor me, I actually struggle to catch zander on lures in that pound, just seem to catch perch and jacks!
Top watch as always Jon.
Glad you enjoyed it
Your out being a Fisherman and a Wind-ger!! LOVED the Video Jon ! Godbless you mate 🎣🐟💯🙏
Thanks Richard, appreciate the support 🙏
Brilliant watch again Jon, just love the light tactics small rod, small reel and small feeders perfect afternoon watch
Glad you enjoyed it
Summer fishings great eh😂😂😂😂, nice video 👍👍👍👍👍
Leaves are falling now already!
Any weather Jon,fishing is good for the soul 😊
Absolutely

You're welcome !
Another great video John learn so much from them keep them coming
Glad you enjoy them. Makes all the effort worthwhile!
Got to love a Jonny Arthur Video, no one is the same, tightlines and cheesy peas
Thanks Dave, yes always try and keep things different if I can. I get bored easily even if you guys don't!
@JonArthur how about 48hrs Carp fishing ? Something different
a great vlog as always
Thank you so much 😊
Great Video Jon I caught a couple of Zanders earlier this year on feeder whilst training for the French second division 6,5 kgs ant 4,8 kgs They don't half pull . they are very good eating apparently so the French tell me
Yes I keep meaning to try one!
Very relaxing 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Del
Would love to see you go up north and fish some of the big canals like the aire and Calder👍🏽top video as usual mate

Nice video Jon, Brolly's are the same as lily pads, don't get tangled, cant use one when fishing with a long handled landing net.
Cheers Pete

Nice net Jon,pity the best were Zander
The beauty of canals is never quite knowing what's in front of you

Nice one jon, Thank you

@@JonArthur that’s a fair shout Jon !! Will prob try that as we get into autumn !
Think it goes to show canals can take a lot more feed than we used to put in
There were lots of little mouths on the day for sure
Another good video not all bout match fishing. What I really like is music background. Could you let me know what it is .thanks again.
Should all be listed in the description
Amazing, never seen or caught a Zander, don’t think I want too.
They're impressive creatures, but a bit otherworldly!
Barbless? Worms staying on? 😄
No I prefer microbarbed hooks on canals and rivers
Brilliant bit of fishing Jon 👍
Hope that cray went under the boot buddy hate em 😡
Not a fan of them myself either! But like eating them!
Another fantastic vid Jon, keep um coming..... Well done YOU 😂
Thanks Mick, appreciate that
Just the best
Thanks for watching John
This is the way
This is the way! ;-)
What reel were you using Jon ?
Matrix Ethos XR 3000. Lovely mid-priced reel.
👍

@@JonArthur Thank you for the reply. Appreciate your honesty, Jon. Keep these great videos coming please.
Heard that enslow marina had been badly hit by otters
Hmmm, sincerely hope not but wouldn't surprise me. I know they're at Aynho.
The problem with a brolly is there to big, I only use one mainly for shade in the summer, someone needs to make one twice the size of a bait brolly would be perfect.
Plus you don't need a landing net that reaches halfway across the cut with a 10ft rod 😉 Excellent vid as usual.
There's a little NGT 40" brolly. Onlly £30 and ideal for towpaths. Won't withstand a hurricane, but does the job on the canal.
😂 It was only 2.5m!
Matrix do a smaller one but I rarely use them unless I have to
I rarely sit under them, but needed the shelter on the day for my film gear if nothing else
Nice fines fishing. The weather not too great. The landing net handle bit too long for the canal fishing.
Thanks for watching
Jon give CJ Fishing a look Norfolk boys
OK will do, although I don't have time to watch much these days
I love a day on a canal ,,mud pigs don't do it for me ,,😊 and u only need a bit of bait ,I live near a commercial and u need a kilo of worms to compete even more plus other baits as well that's £50 before u cast in 😮
I just like to mix it up and fish all sorts of venues
Every other cast you catch a great big dirty crayfish up on the Macclesfield canal these days in Marple, they are a bloody nuisance
Yes a huge unseen problem most people are unaware of, but they decimate fish stocks and erode the banks massively.
It must cost the CRT a fortune which they more than likely don't have in bank repairs alone. Great video though John, been enjoying these feeder files 👍
Why do people not tend to use ledger stops anymore
With a ledger, stop you can quickly adjust the length to hook 🎣✨️
Not personally a fan of them tbh unless using v thick line
Jon I could not stand the noise of the rain on the brolly it reminded me of fishing on the canal as a kid. I hate fishing in the rain.
Well done in very difficult conditions.
Thanks John
