My Dad Bobby Pridgen played with Chuck and Randall for many years. They are a great group of guys. Dad and Randall wrote School Teacher from the Ballroom record.
Probably the most underrated band of all time. What a shame that more music lovers have never witnessed their brilliance!
Just found these guys. Holy shit lol!
I got to see them about 6 times in the 70s and 80s. Fantastic band.
They were great
First learned about them in high school back in 1976! They are still part of my everyday playlist.
Spot on statement kevbuxton....saw them whenever they came through Philly area...great biopic on Chuck called Tree Man...he's sooo deserved of his success...rock on!
Davis Causey was a long time friend. I bought my first guitar from him when I was 11. We were in the 7th grade together and were friends all the way through school.
Sea level has master musicians. Always top notch
Oh my God, are you freaking kidding me? I don’t believe what I’m seeing. This is taking me back way back to my young teenage years being an Allman Brothers fan from 69 then following them all the way to Chuck Lavelle and sea level this stuff is priceless Jimmy Nalls and Davis Causey may they rest in peace were too extremely talented and ferocious guitar players. They were the second coming of Duane and Dickey I still have all their albums and I try to find them on CD cause most of the albums I wore out believe me learning the parts and just listening to the songs. What a great time for music Capricorn recording artists never got the recognition they deserved, but man that was one hell of a band.
I miss Davis Causey every day. A great player and an even better dude.
I can belive I found this, this is a hidden masterpice.
Relaxing on a Saturday night, fell down an Allman Brothers/Great Southern rabbit hole, finally found the 1970s video of Dickey Betts acoustic jamming in a hotel room, came across the Saturday Night in Macon concert video(check them out if you haven't seen them) and ended up finding this gem. I'd forgot all about Sea Level. Cheers
@@buckodonnghaile4309 I saw them live and open for FRAMPTON on his epic 1976 tour SEA LEVEL blew FRAMPTON AWAY Fantastic
PHENOMENAL band!!! They were too damn good for Top 40 radio😉
Former Wings drummer from New york, Joe English, One fine drummer and total muscian.
Was a big Sea Level fan starting back in 1978 and had the pleasure of seeing them live at a small music hall back in the day. Love these guys.
I am so glad I found this. It's not the best quality video, but these guys were top notch musicians, from the Allman Bros. I was fortunate enough to see them around this time at a club outside of Boston, and to this day it is still one of my top ten concerts that I have seen. Check out there albums.
As a friend of Joe English, from Syracuse, I can’t believe that they didn’t use Joe’s excellent voice!
Sea Level opened for Marshall Tucker back in the 70's at the Paramount Theater, Seattle. A theater of a little over 5 thousand seats then. I was in the fifth row. What a show. Both entire bands came out for two encores. Will never forget that night almost 50 years back
Two of my favorite bands. Toy Caldwell is one of my favorite guitarists ever. Luckily I got to see them multiple times.
@@awboat That's great that you did. Guys like Toy Caldwell and Chuck Leavell were such great songwriters. Their concerts then we're great playing, simple lighting, good audio. Nuthin' fancy. You felt like you were watching them rehearse. Good memories.
Jimmy Nalls was Fantastic!
As is Davis Causey
Davis Causey and Jimmy Nalls were the best one-two punch in jazz-rock since Duane and Dickey.
Saratoga is only twenty miles north of Troy ,New York where I grew up. Unfortunately, I was only twelve years old when the concert happened, so I wasn't there. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to hear/see it now!
Two questions: Why wasn't this band at the top of the charts during it's heyday. Funky, jazzy, great rock sensibilities, incredible musicianship, songs with great lyrics. I saw them twice - once with the original 4 piece - and once with this line up. Just an absolute fantastic show.
Second, Jimmy Nalls was one of my favorite guitarists ever. Why was he so low in the mix? What a great great player he was.
Hi Hurricane. I was Jimmy's guitar tech during much of the 6 piece line up and there's a reason he's so low in the mix. Jimmy loved to play LOUD. Davis was much more in control, & the sound guys were able to put him up in a better place in the mix. Wish you could've been there for this performance. Jimmy was on fire....he was magnificent with a strat in his hands
Hey Scott! You were always on point.
@@angelherring3902 Hey Angel!! How are you doing, darlin'? It's been ages. Good to know you're out there and kickin'.
Hard to believe a band ever had such awesome guitarists in one band the talent level in this band may be the highest ever Randall and Chuck shared the spotlight but the other artists are just as amazing
Has a band ever had two guitarists.on Jimmy and Davis’s level?Ive never found one-Sea Level were absolute legends the talent in this band rarely equaled
How cool to find this video! Agree they were so underrated. Love Randall Bramlett to this day! So much talent!
Randy has released some really good stuff since leaving Sea Level!
The man introducing said all those words just to say 'jazz fusion'.😅
These guys so talented. Also some of the finest people i had the pleasure to know and work with. 2nd tune sounds like a Neil Larsen tune,, or maybe even Cowboy. I hear .both. ❤❤
Thanks For The Upload..Not enough people really got to know Sea Level and how great their music is ..
i CONCUR!! ONE OF MY FAVORITES....
@@rhondawebb7985 Thank goodness we had AOR radio back in the 70s in to the 80s.
Thanks so much for sharing this. I've just discovered Sea Level, and I'm grateful to see live concert footage!
Wonderful Band and music!
I busted some curtains back in the day. We were all out of Macon then. Loved taking our stuff to audiences around the southeast. Great friends....there was such awesome sense of family in those days.
Saw the band whenever they rolled through metro NYC area…which was often..amazing band ..never a bad performance. Seeing Chuck and Lamar in smaller venues really allowed you to see and hear their greatness.
I'm reading"SKYDOG" presently. Its what brought me here and glad it did with all these wonderful ex-ABB musicians. It's the story of the dynamic and tragic life of Duane Allman for all interested.
That’s Your Secret was such a groove.
I’ve been hunting for this for years! I remember watching this with my dad when it first aired on public television in Maryland. At the time I was just getting into the CDB and had never heard of Sea Level. I was blown away, eventually got all of their LPs. Great stuff!
Sea Level is head and shoulders about CDB. I was a big fan of Charlie Daniels but this is so much better.
What a gem. great post!
Thanks for posting this. Simply fantastic!
Really were one of the best Capricorn bands. Saw them a lot in 77 and 78 both the original four piece and then when they augmented by Randall and Davis. They were very accessible compared to some of the bigger acts. Randall still carries the torch for this style of music and has a lights out band. Cowboy was on a similar level during this era and were also great. Jimmy usually played a Strat in the early days. Great player. RIP to both him and Davis. Thx for posting!
Awesome, chuck is the shit brother
Yes sir
i wish they played the whole concert . i remember when this was on public tv . the whole show . chuck level came 0ut and played with charlie daniels at the end ....mark cooper
Such a gem .. thanks so much !!
Great show. Thanks for posting. Too bad they have no live album releases like this one
Hell, just trying to get their music in any physical format is hard.
Great concert
A blend of Weather Report and Little Feat. Deserved more attention.
Joe is my all time favourite drummer... he learnt from Jaimoe and he is something else!!!!
He smoked on this tour & was especially good on On The Edge release! George
Weaver on Cats On The Coast was phenomenal too
He smoked on
Wow ,great songs, the best musician ,🎩🙏🇨🇺
Just saw an Amazon Prime show about Chuck Leavell. Not sure why I wasn't familiar with him. Awesome player.
DOESNT MATTER WHO YOU KNOW ITS HOW YOU FEEL
Wow the Level at their peak Randall Davis and Jimmy and Chuck Joe and Lamar one of the best bands ever only 4 albums Cats on the coast/ On the Edge/Long walk on a short pier/Ball Room in 4 years 1977-1980 Badass band man!!There were 5 albums forgot the first with Chuck Jamoie Jimmy and Lamar-thank you to Nick M.for pointing this error out
Five albums. Self-titled one before "Cats." They were a four-piece featuring Chuck, Jimmy, Lamar and Jaimo only.
I meant to say with that lineup but didn’t I know-was Jimmy Nalls with them the last three lp’s?
@@79SteelyMatt Jimmy, Chuck and Lamar were on all five.
Ooh It's SO good
Search for The Randall Bramblett Band playing Pothole on Mainstreet, live. Still incredible!!!
ITS UP TO ALL OF YOU TO FEEL BEFORE YOU ALL THINK....
Love chuck
He tours with Stones whevever they perform in the last 4 or 5 years.
@@user-fn5mr4oz4j He’s been with the Stones since 1980 or so. Time flies! He’s even the pianist on Train’s Drops of Jupiter. So good!
He tours with David Gilmour. He actually sings on what I consider the most awesome song and guitar solos of all time.
I wish Chuck could bring some of his creativity to the Stones who seemed to have stopped improvising since 89
aka "Mad Dad" Yeah Kev.. You got that right!
WTF at 14:30!Obviously their time with The Allman Brothers Band rubbed off but taking it to another dimension with their funk influences coming out.Jaimoe and Lamar kept it a rollin'.Loved it.
Jaimoe is not in this version.
ALL WELCOME TO OUR GAME.......
Apparently the bass played itself.
Really?? I don't think so. Lamar is standing just to Joes right between Chuck and Jimmy.(and killin' it)
@@angelherring3902 Yes, he is. Killing it! The bass here is wonderful, strong and clean and on point. 😎 I was bitching because, as is not uncommon, the cameras all but ignored the bass player.
@@freem0nt Lol. That was very common. He was such an amazing musician but he just hung back on stage and let the frontine have the accolades. Pretty sure my brother was road manager on this.
@@angelherring3902 I thought of asking if you were related to him and decided not to. I played keys for about ten years with Tim Brooks back in the 90's and heard tales. There were wild things going on in Macon back in the day.
@@freem0nt Wow. I know who you are. Lol. Oddly enough I ran into Greg's ex-wife and she was telling me about Scooter coming to talk to Tim about signing to Capricorn. (I'm still living on Vineville.)
I hope Chuck puts something together now or while he is not with the stones
I met Joe in Macon before he joined Wings, and Jimmy and I grew up about 30 miles apart in rural Virginia, and played in competing bands, and jammed a lot together. Really bad mix here of his guitar.
LOL! Chuck's business attire!
