Rest in Peace, Dickey Betts. You'll be missed.
All the original members are gone except for Jaimoe...
An exceptional talent
R.I.P. Mr Betts. We have lost one of our finest guitar players.
"Jessica". The epitome of what Southern Rock is all about.
RIP Dickey Betts One of the very best players ever
On the way to the hospital with my wife in labor, we still didn't know what to call our baby daughter. Allman Brothers Jessica came on the radio. Jessica it was. R.I.P. Greg Allman and thanks
beautiful man..
I'd be willing to wager that 95 percent of all Jessicas and Melissas born after 1971 were named after ABB songs. I know when I was in elementary school back in the mid 70s there were so many Melissa's. I got really sick of that name.
Jessica is one of the best songs ever. Your daughter can be proud! Congratulations!
I don't care if it was called "Jessica", because he was describing his afternoon bowl movement.!! It's a fantastically detailed, EXTREMELY difficult, piece of 🎸 gee-tarr jamming songs of the 1970's...oh and my beautiful wife's name is Jessica, so that might have contributed a "little" to my love for the song. I mean it's so intricate. Being a drummer & guitar player, I'm afraid to TOUCH this..ABB ROCKS..!
@@reesedaniel5835 95%? No, you slob. :'D

THE LEGEND DICKEY BETTS
Dickey Betts is such a stud, the flashiest he gets is pouting his lips and nodding his head up and down.
Dickey Betts should get all the credits for this amazing song. 🌺🌹🏵️🌸🌻💐
He does and that's why he owns the rights to all the music he wrote. Allman could never play them when Dicky left
We saw them at RFK, in DC in 1973. One of their 1st gigs after the demise of Duane, & just before the release of Brothers & Sisters. They opened with Jessica, a Park Security Gaurd on the speaker tower, took his hat off, down to his side, after Dicky's riff. I got chills listening to this recorded rendition.
He wrote phenomenal instrumentals.
Well the whole thing is based off that main guitar melody which he came up with
Check out what Les Dudek has to say about that.
The Brothers are cookin'! So many good times with The Allman Brothers. I miss those good ol' days. 🍑
Music like this should be preserved in a time capsule for the future!👍👍👏
😓Thanks for all the great music you and the brothers created and beyond. thanks for being a part of the soundtrack of my life😎❤👍✌
Fantastic drumming by Jamoe and Butch. RIP-Duane, Berry, The Toler Brothers, Butch and Gregg....your music lives on forever.
That we get to rehash replay SEE THEM ALL AGAIN WHAT AWAITS WHEN NO COFUSION what blessings await the faithful chins up folks
No body left but Jaimoe and Dickey, of course Chuck Leavell is still with us, but he isn't a founding member.
@@user-fn5mr4oz4jand he isn’t on this recording
@@user-fn5mr4oz4j 😢
Listen, me an my first wife, an Nelson an his wife, Ida, drove a 76 Chevette to Jersey to see them...scalped 4 different tickets!
Got really messed up!
I'm 64 now, I'd do it again in a heart beat!!!!
A Chevette......hahahahahahahahaha!
Nothing better than southern rock at the time ⏲, i.miss the era ,.
Dickey Betts and Les Paul, such a fine duo ! :-)
The Goat of the major scale!!!!
*mixolydian, sorry to be a smartarse
One of the best Songs Writers of all Time. 😢. Play on😮
makes me feel good
Written by guitarist Dickey Betts, the song is a tribute to Gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, in that it was designed to be played using only two fingers on the left hand. Django had suffered damage to his left hand in a fire at his home when a very young man, losing nearly all use of his two small fingers on that hand, but went on despite that to become one of the world's greatest and most influential guitarists.
Betts wrote the majority of "Jessica" at the band's farm in Juliette, Georgia. He named it after his daughter, Jessica Betts, who was an infant when it was released. She had bounced along to the song's rhythm, and Betts attempted to capture her attitude with its melody. He invited fellow guitarist Les Dudek over to collaborate on it, and Dudek performed the bridge. Some accounts credit Dudek with the acoustic intro on the recording. The arrangement was crafted prior to recording, which took place at Capricorn Sound Studios in Macon, Georgia.
Along with _'Jessica,'_ Zappa's _'Sexual Harassment in the Workplace'_ and _'Silver and Gold'_ by Quicksilver Messenger Service are among my favorite rock instrumentals.
I love the way they end this song, it’s like landing a jumbo jet, they line up from a distance and gentle feather it on its glide path and the right when it is about run out of speed and stall they grease the landing like captain of many, many years. Love it. Mountain Jam too, just incredible music that is The Allman Bothers! 🙌👏✌️
Maybe in the'70s but will go on for eons in the instrumental red carpet of rock music ..
Super ALLMAN BROTHERS BLUES BAND EVER
RIP Butch Trucks. You gave us one of the all time great songs from an all time great album. Whatever pain he was in, has ended. Thank you for the wonderful music.
Wow!!! Dickey really chased some wild rabbits before entering the ending of it this time. I guess he thought, I wrote this, and I will put anything I feel like into it, and he did. Some great, one of a kind, riffs. Outstanding!!
Probably the greatest American rock and roll band of all time.
Dickie Betts at his very best. Sensational.
NEVER GET TIRED OF THIS SOUND!!!!!!!
My daughter will be 30 years old this weekend, named her after hearing this song on the radio, headed to the hospital for my wife's c-section
For me, the Allman Brothers were and always will be one of the greatest bands ever. This song is happy, sunny and just great! It's why I gave my youngest daughter her name. Like this song, she is all of the above. I dare you to listen to this wide open while riding down an open road with the windows down on a cool crisp spring day!
I can't get enough of The Allman Brothers Band. Just listened to Whipping Post again. Love the Allman Brothers Band. Always have, Always Will.
LUVD THEM AS A YOUNG MAN, STILL DO AS AN OLDMAN!!!
Lord Jesus I love this band. God Bless the Allman Brothers Band forever.
@@stevecamarano7146 Indeed. This was my grandpa's favourite song. He had thirteen grandchildren and was 54 when this was released. He died 41 years later and I'm the third generation who loves this. It's timeless.
❤ RIP. So many legends sadly gone 😢
Great guitar control in unison. Always loved this helluva long jam.
Man, this is a great live version of this song. Dickie was going all out on that solo. Great job!
Dickey Betts you're the best!
Tonight....
I listen to old music...
The Allman Brothers jam it...
And you press like...
holy Dicky Betts that is wonderful
1984 live performance is THE best.
And I’ve looked at all of them on YT.
wow......i miss this stuff. unbelievable how good of a band they were
RIP Gregg Allman. I'm sad to see you leave this life. But your legacy lives on! Condolences to family and friends. Enjoy the cosmos, Gregg!
Wow, Wow, just WOW!
RIP Greg Allman. You are a legend and your memory will live on.
I remember this song was a favorite at our camping shindigs on the weekends during my high school years living in good ole Rome, Ga. back in the mid 2000's. I had a friend whose father knew the Allman Brothers personally, he would smoke us out and tell us all these crazy stories about the band. He had a bunch of personal photos with the band members so I know he wasn't bullshitting! Now I live all the way across the states, in Seattle! Still love the band! Miss my high school friends. We were a quite the group!
Churrumais PARTY TIL YOU PUKE DAYS ....fun fun
I graduated in 2003.....Love to hear the stories
Music to smoke and drink to
RIP Dickey Betts ❤
HOLY FUCKIN' SHIT!!!!! I'm amazed, and always will be. No words on my end. I'll just embarrass myself....
We were blessed in those days with an incredible amount of guitar giants: Beck, Paige, Clapton, Duane Allman, Santana, Garcia and Betts, who could hold his own with anybody. My condolences to his loved ones, RIP Dickey, you were good.
Dickey Betts! Maybe I should say Dickey Best. This is my favorite Allman Brothers song. It really does evoke images of a child bopping around.
I know there were a few mess ups but it made it better it just reminded me of a few guys jamming out having fun without a care in the world
Indeed.
We don't deserve music this great
One more empty saddle. This ol' cowboy has gone home.
Once again, I send this to my fantastic cousin Jessica for her birthday! You rock, my chica!
Phenomenal! Great to see Gregg's solo on Jessica.
gregg was underrated as a organist, he was a blues guy but also a rocker
These GUYS ARE tight right on key love It
Rest In Peace Greg! Thank you for all the wonderful music that made the memories on my journey! Prayers and Love to family and friends!
I love jessica
We all do.
Back in the day, I saw a LOT of concerts. These guys might have put on the most enjoyable good vibes show I've ever seen, felt like the idea of a Greatful dead show, very peace, love and great vibes of peace and joy. And yes, they were very much ON that night.
Way superior to the Greatful Dead .
ABB opened for the Dead and Gregg asked Duane what he thought of their music because they hung around to hear it . Duane said "" This is Shit ".
Read Greggs autobiography " My Cross To Bear ". It tells all .
@@michaelp.2842 That might be an interesting read. I tend to like the Allman Bros better, they could rock a lot better than the Dead but I do love some Dead songs. But yeah, the Allman brothers were great live.
this is one of my favorite things I've seen
Betts the master composer!
I love you and I hope you still feel the same way towards me
I still want to get a chance to take you out
Allman Brothers Band un clásico un gigante del ROCK GRACIAS A ESTE GRUPO SIEMPRE ME SORPRENDE. SU MUSIICA ES FANTÁSTICA
What a treat! ABB accompanied us all the way to southern France in the van a long time ago. Still love it.
Rest in peace, Gregg Allman.
Great to see and hear. I just keep slipping back these days listening to the ABB. Best all-time band
This is the best even though 40 some years old. Let it be!
I love when a band CAN DO... LIVE ...what they put on the album!!
Actually better live than studio !!!
But this version is nothing like the one on Brothers and Sisters!
@@greenman7612 Really? I haven't heard it! I'll bee looking for it... THANKS!!!
Is there any band like this today? Where are the hiding, certainly not the the Bieber!
The Black Crowe’s , Govt Mule, are two bands that have some of the spirit of the Allman brothers. It’s some others too, but they get little radio play or publicity
Tks Allman Brothers 4u music
I went to so many concerts at the Capitol theater! Thanks for this post!
Great Song! That's music!
so tight... listening for an old friend tonight he loves Dickey Betts
+Katie Gora Tight? You mean sloppy don't you. The Bass player sounds like he's playing a different song.
One of the great American bands. RiP Greg Allman
Duane and Gregg reunited, they started an amazing band that saw so many incredible musicians over the years their legacy willl go on forever
. . on a 4/20...the place
to be
Some people are born with a gift. These men found it.
Love the Allman brothers, saw them 8 times since 2004, but there is only one blues, rock and any thing in between and that is David Gilmour which i saw 5 times.
saw them live so many times at the Capitol..💓😇
Gregg on the Hammond organ !
1 of the greatest songs ever rip Gregg Almond 1 of the greatest guitar players ever & i ofthe greatest songs ever
Dankeschön für eines meiner Lieblingsstücke meiner Jugend!
Saw them play this at Brave’s stadium in 1975, along with Lenard Skynard and The Marshall Tucker band. A date and I had driven up from Auburn and it was maybe the craziest day in my life. I don’t remember much, but I remember them coming on stage VERY late and playing this song. Suzanne, if you’re still out there, thank you.
I remember listening to this back in the late '70s after working at a restaurant. I was 17 years old. We'd get together at a friend's apartment, "burn some tree" playing our tennis rackets to the Allman Brothers.
My favorite instrumental, period. They never played it the same way twice, in all of their live concerts, never. The guitar harmony was great, here, as always. I did miss the piano feature, and always do when it is not played. "People down in Georgia come from near and far to hear Richard Betts pickin on that red guitar."
I want to be Dickey Betts when I grow up
R.I.P. Greg Allman
fainted dehydrated and heard them on my back at knebworth (1974?). wonderful memory
One of my all time favs , great memories .
Happy Birthday Jai Johanny Johanson born on July 8, 1944. He is frequently known by the stage name Jaimoe. He is an American drummer and percussionist, one of the founding members of The Allman Brothers Band. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaimoe
Shivers down the spine. Full love xxx
Been a fan since 1971 as a kid on a USAF base in Germany..
The Bros were alreay amazing but when Duane died it allowed Dickie to step forward and he really added up. So much of the great music is due to him and their carrying on. He's an unsung legend.
My Jessica who was named from this song passed away yesterday.
i love watching the two drummers get down
TONIGHT ON TOP GEAR
The Gibson's were on fire that night!!! Watch at 5:23 the rhythm is going like crazy... 6:49 Dickie smelled his hands to see if they're on fire (LOL)... My all time favorite song!
420!
Gregg was jamming his face off.
