Centaurus UK I live in this block for 18 years. My neighbours know I bring up my twins alone. I'm fond of hard rock and punk rock. I'm an amateur singer. Ex boy friend is a hard rock drummer looking like a viking. He even met Lemmy when he was the road manager of his own band. Lem offered him some speed since he was young and tired then. Just saw priest for the 5th time over the weekend. Rob's a true metal messiah. Such versatility as a band and singer. Everything from screaming your face off to the most beautiful melodies. Ken, you should do a Power Metal band! You totally have the voice for it, and you've still got the long hair. Go for it man, the whole leather and spikes thing could be you.
Have heard Halford make an interesting point about songs like Painkiller, that whilst it's obviously very demanding being that high, it's actually easier than a lot of other tunes they do because it's mostly all in that certain register. I think that's what makes a lot of GN'R stuff challenging in that it's moving between very different tones and registers over just a few lines.

I LOVE the band Halford. Since "Resurrection" was released in 2000, album for album they were heads and shoulders beyond what he was doing in Judas Priest. And for some reason..tour vs tour..even in the same year..Rob always sounded better, stronger and with more range while singing with his band over Priest. After almost five decades..I can cut Rob slack for not doing the closing note! LOL

Ken, this was my first time to watch any of your videos. I’ve always been a Priest Fan as well as love Halford. I’m 52 so yes I like a lot of the older bands. You are the first person I’ve ever seen that can copy or mimic Rob with such ease! Must say that got my attention real quick. Plus your a fan. I can remember being young and refusing to sing those songs unless it was to the T! Victims of Changes was always a fun one. He has an incredible voice and range. Look forward to looking at the rest of your stuff. Bravo!!! Question? Is it possible to sing like this without vocal coaching? I remember just learning to sing it pitch perfect and equally hold all the notes and it took a lot of effort but finally would figure out something that worked. It appears that the older I get the less I am able to do or sing. I guess I should have continued but being alone in your car or room is much more forgiving than your wife and kids are!! Lol I truly enjoyed watching you critique this video of Rob. Finally a creditable opinion!! Thank you!!!
I imagine that it's not easy to be both a great singer and frontman. Not everyone is great at working an audience. He's certainly in that small group. Another great reaction!

Ken Another insane review. Man, so much can be said about Rob. His confidence is through the roof. Rob above all the other singers in this Genre can take a Falsetto and Chest voice and combine them for one killer ass sound. Takes a lot of years to Master that. Also, I am going to call it As I see it there is a lot of effects on his voice. I mean a lot but I guess with this kind of singing it just an enhancement for the song. It kind of demands it but trust me he doesn't need it. This man can really sing. Awesome review Brother Ken. Love your version also. the proof is in your singing brother.
If I could give multiple thumbs up for your videos, this would be a sure contender. Rob may be getting older but still has it. Your version is absolutely incredible and is pretty close to how I do that song. More belting than head voice.
I saw Halford open for Maiden while touring Resurrection (in 2000). His band was really good. I was lucky enough to get to hang out with Nicko McBrain while Queensryche were playing (after Halford), and Halford came out after showering wearing sandals with socks, khaki shorts, a t-shirt, shades, and a visor, drinking a caffeine-free Diet Coke and looking about as "metal" as the average middle-aged golfer. I'm pretty sure that's what he was going for, because he was able to walk around backstage pretty much incognito. He was really chilled out and gracious with the fans who recognized him.
Oh been waiting for this and he's not even a young buck in this one. I saw them, Judas Priest for the first time during the turbo tour, I think it was fuel for life or something to that effect, my ears rang for two days. One the most intense shows I ever saw and he made it look easy. That tenor voice with a nice low range, the perfect metal voice. I would have liked to have heard more on how he's sustained that level of vocals for such a long time, no question he's lost a little today but the guy is 67' years old, and still doesn't disappoint. I know he credits it to staying clean. He also one the nicest and humble guys around. Saw him a few times at the Hard Rock in Tampa, mingling fans before and after the shows, a great ambassador for the metal scene. While not a fan of Baby Metal, that performance he did with them brought tears to eye's.
Before COVID Judas Priest tour had some images leaked where Rob used oxygen tanks after this, people told him like you're pushing 70, don't do it o.O I don't think there's a singer with so much passion and commitment, now in 2022, it's half a century of him singing.
Rob does 200 gigs a year..Imagine sing Painkiller Every single time at his Age..I think its a miracle that he can sing again.
Indeed!
He can still sing, simply because he is the god of metal, and the god of metal cannot lose his voice.
I watched a show of his from a few weeks ago (March of 2022) and even at 70 he is still amazing
I saw him this month (November) and his voice was amazing!
Crazy to think that Rob is still singing like it's the 1980's again! Such a testament to his amazing vocals!
I know!! He's amazing!

Your version is absolutely incredible and is pretty close to how I do that song. More belting than head voice.
Thanks Metalbass79!
I'm not sure which I love more, your voice, or your personality!!!!♡☆♡ PS or your vast knowledge! (3rd edit--plus you're easy on the eyes!)
What a powerful, commanding voice...
That drum intro was a very nice gesture - Ok, we got a new badass drummer.. and of course he shall be heard first on the record! "
Rock on!
Painkiller is an inside song, have you ever checked out the Death version of Painkiller?
Travis- That's cool. Happy to hear that.
GlassTopRX7 It's always cool to hear that our stars are nice, humble people. T
Prolly the best metal song ever

JP - one of metals purest metal acts. Halford has an amazing vocal. Not like todays "popular" generic acts. Cheers 🤘🏻😉🤘🏻

The Little Drummer Boy ...man great, best version i know.
Michael Treser Thank you.
Before COVID Judas Priest tour had some images leaked where Rob used oxygen tanks after this, people told him like you're pushing 70, don't do it o.O I don't think there's a singer with so much passion and commitment, now in 2022, it's half a century of him singing.
2003? No wonder the drumming is so damn awesome. That's none other than Bobby Jarzombek, one of _the_ best in the world. According to his peers!😳
I love this song. Great job Ken.
