In the 2000's, when female pop artists like Britney and Avril Lavigne took over the radio, I remember the first time I listened to "Bring meto life" and I was blown away inmediately by this band, I had never heard and watched anything like that before in my teen years: a female hard rock vocalist who would kick any of those pop girls' butt and stand out from the rock scene.
Estefanie Herrera Estrada you are exactly right!! She’s good and she owns it. That band is fabulous and she doesn’t need to lip-synch. Certainly she has her bad days like anybody else, but she is real and incredible. Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, amongst other vocalist or just that- singers. Most of them don’t use their voice like a musical instrument and many of them lip-synch and Britttany uses even more than that to make her voice sound good. Brittany was really talented when she was about 16 or 17 and after that she lost it. She’s never been as good as Amy! Stevie Nicks and Amy Lee are on different musical streams but I think their voices are genuine and awesome. I heard Stevie sing stoned, but not Amy Lee lol
Estefanie Herrera Estrada agree! Those others are OK and they were good for Mickey Mouse club with Christina Aguilera being the best. Brittany spears was a good performer because she could dance but she used auto tune so much after she rose to popularity .Amy Lee is just pure genuine!! .
Amy Lee has such a strong and powerful yet soft and smooth vocals. One of my favorite artists. Thank you Mr. Tamplin love to see more from her style in your lessons!
Ahhhh this is my favorite band! Her voice only gets better and better with time, I saw them at a concert during their Synthesis tour last year and her voice is just so flawless. Her voice is so powerful that she's practically screaming some of the notes, Lithium and Your Star specifically. Love Amy so much, thanks for covering this!
I like the dichotomy of this song, band. Amy starts out with an ethereal/gothic voice and then the band is rock. Then she turns her voice into an ethereal rock sound. This works so great together.

Amy Lee is incredible!! My favorite female vocalist of the millennium. ❤️❤️❤️ her vocal technique with her ability in general is just unmatchable when compared with others like Rihanna & Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez,, for example. Evanescence & The musicians- all of them.... absolutely incredible when compared with other millennial bands. Wow!! Singing her Amy Lee’s music is the only thing that keeps me in practice at the age of 51. I’m 51 and I’m not in my 20s anymore so it’s all about practice and consistency and doing it over and over again. She’s amazing!! For a female vocalist, her skill is probably the closest to Freddie Mercury!! Transitions are incredible💕💕
They sounds better than ever now. She was what only 21 here? She’s in her 30’s and her vocals have grown. They did their album Synthesis which showcases her vocals.
I remember seeing Evanescence somewhere around 2002 or 2003, can't remember the exact year. They put on one of the best live shows I've seen. I remember thinking that Amy's voice was so powerful that she should could almost do the show without the microphone, of course that's hyperbole but it was just so powerful. Was really glad I got to see them live.
You need to listen/react/analyze to Lithium by Evanescence, acoustic sessions at AOL Studios. You can find the HQ videos on the Evanescence Channel by Mick Scissorhands!💜👏
i crushed on her so hard when this first came out. She's lovely. You may not know but Evanescence is known for using tracks to fill out those heavily arranged tracks. On her voice though, hearing other voices probably means some kind of processing. There are a million and one different tools out there to provide harmonies. did i mention she was beautiful?
I came to know Evanescense and Amy Lee with their video of "Bring Me to Life" years ago. Her vocals and style remind me a bit of Ann Wilson of Heart and Annie Haslam of Reniassance from the mid '70s.
@@kentamplin Back in high school there were times when I'd go from the "classic" rock, as it's known today, to progressive and psychedelic rock as I got deeper into FM radio. So Reniassance came up on my radar, "Turn of the Cards" and "Scheherzade and Other Stories" ended up along side of albums like "Yessongs", "Brain Salad Surgery", "Tarkus", "Disreali Gears", "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida", "Dark Side of the Moon" who were there with Zeppelin, Queen, The Stones and the like.
Oh wow, that was from an Italian TV show called "Festivalbar" (likely this performance was recorded in 2003 at Piazza del Duomo in Pistoia) 🇮🇹 Nice throwback for me 😃 I really like Amy's voice! I used to listen to Evanescense a lot in my teen years along with Linkin Park and Silverchair. Thank you for this video, Sir.
Ken, i’m addicted to your channel and I was watching evanescence all night on RUclips until 3 o’clock in the morning. I listened to her live and vocal coaches’ reactions. There was only one British vocal coach that criticized her technique live in about three performances but she did not listen to the entire song! The band starts out The song completely different than what it turns into. The other three British musical coaches absolutely loved her and spoke of her technique and how she used a nasal sound along with her vocal cords and chest/abdominal muscles. That’s her style and she sings from her classical piano because that’s what she has done. I thought that one credit was harsh and probably because Amy Lee is talented and just so damn gorgeous.
A great live performance with amy lee is “korn - freak on a leash” (mtv unplugged) she actually is featuring on the song..... I think you would enjoy it!
Love her stunning unique voice and processed lots of emotions through most of her songs . She doesn’t even know me but doesn’t realize how much she helped me through stuff through the lyrics and her songs . Beautiful girl and a really gorgeous voice . ♥️🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶💫✨
She has one of the best breath control I’ve ever heard. The has the power like Pat Benatar. With four opera singers in my family I hear absolute greatness in her singing.
Evanescence, what a mixture of everything. Total class act they are. They have all the components that make them an upper echelon band. I love the guy who does the growl. Wouldn't it have been cool for them to sequence into the next song playing BOC's Godzilla! And they're the band to do it too. Funny story: last year's Halloween, as my kids were trick or treating, I drove my SUV alongside them blasting out this Evanescence song. The song and Halloween night was a wild combination!
Dude, you are one of the best coaches I've seen. You can actually sing. Most "vocal coaches" are just reactors. Definitely subbing after this video is over.
Beautiful... Love her style. Stevie Nicks is one of my favorites... Her sound is unique. My son loved her(Evanescence) and after we left the hospital(we had a 2 hour drive to home)...literally "Being Me To Life" came on the radio about a half hour into our drive... I cried like a baby. Thank you for this..it's been 6 years and it still touches me.

The video is awesome because it shows Amy’s sweet angelic sounding intro & then there’s about a 15 second pause before the band comes rolling in with this rock!! It’s absolutely amazing, and that pause is just enough to calm you- and when the band comes jamming in it is shock & awe!

Ken Tamplin! I haven't heard that name in YEARS. Your name just brought back MANY memories of cranking Shout as a teen. Love your music! Thank you for all of your amazing music and vocals!
Ken has the best vocal coach reactions! Watched many and you have have gotten better with these after the first ones! Always feels like you could sing the song better than original artist with very little practice. Love the matching singing parts :D Master of the art definitely!
Nice n good comment have you cked out his bands he was in. Ken is extremely talented. I was shocked to find all that out about him. If anyone should do reactions KEN IS PERFECT except his tool reaction lol he got ALOT grief on that one. 😂
Yeah, Amy has a great voice, it has that dark pain kinda texture to it, sort of like Maria Brink mentioned in a previous video you did. It's hard to replicate, but your students do a great job in the videos you linked. I can't sing worth a damn myself, ah, would be nice to be young again! :)
Her eyes are icy green actually. Which is very light green with a blue tint to them in the right light. It's a odd color. But a killer look with her eyes. She have lovely eyes.
Hi Ken! I would like that you show us a video with a student that you think he has a basic level singing. So in that way we can see the difference. Txs a lot.
This is one of my favorite songs. She has an incredible voice. Also one of my favorites to sing. Edit: just a note.... That looks like a castle in Scotland where Celtic Women did a concert. Anyone know if it is?
At this stage, Amy pretty frequently had backing vocal tracks playing during live performances. Now she has Jen Majuro do them during live performances.
just a comment... in live performances Jon LeCompt from Evanescence do the male voice while in the original version the male voice was performed as a guest by Paul McCoy from "12 stones", that is why the song may feel or sound a little bit different in that department.

Ken wow!! You have 25,000 music students on your online singing course?? That’s amazing and congratulations!! I’ve watched your video a couple of times and That area where you mentioned she probably lost her breath a little bit; it’s really hard to tell whether she meant to do that on purpose or she was out of breath unless you’re a skilled vocalist, and then it still makes you wonder. Amy Lee is just that damned good! Ohhhh that guy singing with her is pretty freaking amazing! All they needed was you on there doing your thing & it would’ve gone from 100 to 110!
You should react to Amy's most recent lives, specially knowing that, around 10 years ago, some "professionals" were telling that she was done, that she lost part of her voice.
Hi Ken! I think it would be pretty interesting to see a comparison on how Amys voice changed over the years and to hear what you think about that. The video you just referred to is a pretty old one from 2003/2004 but the band is still out there and recently did a tour with full orchestra! Thank you for the great content and the tips for singing! :)
I was REALLY REALLY into Evanescence from from the ages of 11-14. Now, at 27, I still really enjoy their music. What's really surprised me when I've revisited it recently is that....I'm noticing...in the contexts I do sing in...I kind of sing like her lmao. Like the influence when I was younger subconsciously influenced the way I sing.
Whenever my classic rock generation bemoans the death of rock music, this is one of the songs I send them. It’s in good hands. You think you are in charge and you send your daughter to Opera singing lessons but she is infected with that Rock Music virus. She rebels and writes another page in Rock history.

Loved your analysis and the performance you chose to react to - Amy is always amazing!!
Glad you enjoyed!
Ken has the best vocal coach reactions! Watched many and you have have gotten better with these after the first ones! Always feels like you could sing the song better than original artist with very little practice. Love the matching singing parts :D Master of the art definitely!
Waaritus Thank you!
Nice n good comment have you cked out his bands he was in. Ken is extremely talented. I was shocked to find all that out about him. If anyone should do reactions KEN IS PERFECT except his tool reaction lol he got ALOT grief on that one. 😂
I loved your additions, Ken.
Loved when you put some notes in there 😂😂😂😂
This is Shannon
I saw her live with lindsy sterling
Amazing show
What a great song, well performed, Bigly! :) Another band new to me, Thanks Ken!
vince berber 👍👍👍
Excellent, I remember the first time I heard this, it totally blew me away. This song and her voice, fantastic👍💯🎙
david spicer Me gustaron sus chiches👍👍👍
Yeah, Amy has a great voice, it has that dark pain kinda texture to it, sort of like Maria Brink mentioned in a previous video you did. It's hard to replicate, but your students do a great job in the videos you linked. I can't sing worth a damn myself, ah, would be nice to be young again! :)
Thanks for the comment, Johan! I'm happy to hear you appreciate my students' talent!
Mr. Ken tamplin you are a great teacher... Love from indonesia.
Great analysis, Sir. I never would have known there was another voice singing harmony with her.
KEN TAMPLIN
EVANESCENCE IS AWESOME!
AMY LEE IS BEAUTIFUL! She is also a Awesome Harp Player, Piano Player!
Great reaction!
She wasn't wearing lenses!!! Her eyes are like that.
MarieleCastán exactly what I was going to say! her natural eyes are a very light blue, but she sometimes does wear light green contacts.
Her eyes are icy green actually. Which is very light green with a blue tint to them in the right light. It's a odd color. But a killer look with her eyes. She have lovely eyes.
@@HelloXrancidkitteh I like to stare into the souls of my audience.
Hi Ken! I would like that you show us a video with a student that you think he has a basic level singing. So in that way we can see the difference.
Txs a lot.
This^
Ja deixei Like sem nem ver o video. Sou fan de Evanescence e Amy Lee. Após o trabalho confiro.
This is one of my favorite songs. She has an incredible voice. Also one of my favorites to sing. Edit: just a note.... That looks like a castle in Scotland where Celtic Women did a concert. Anyone know if it is?
she synchronises body movements to power up the flow of air.....She sings like if Bjork had the volume of Gabriella...
She is good! I like her voice. (and her makeup, :) pretty cool)
Your vocals at the very end of the song was wowwwwwwwww too !😊
Evanescence was my gateway drug to the female lead goth rock scene. Moved on to Delain , Within Temptation , Nightwish...
None of those has anything to do with goth rock.
At this stage, Amy pretty frequently had backing vocal tracks playing during live performances. Now she has Jen Majuro do them during live performances.
*Majura
Just found your channel, have watched 1 other vid. Love your reactions! Ty.🤩🤩👍
I am locked in a 60s and 70s time capsule So I never heard of her However she was glorious here❤️
just a comment... in live performances Jon LeCompt from Evanescence do the male voice while in the original version the male voice was performed as a guest by Paul McCoy from "12 stones", that is why the song may feel or sound a little bit different in that department.
One of the greatest rock songs ever! Fantastic song!
Right on Ken love this analysis and yes as a singer myself there is another voice in there maybe two
woooowww I loved the notes you added youre awaesome!!!!
Thanks Ece Erdem!
It's a very good vocal academic I like.
PG Records 👍👍👍
@@kentamplin big man it's possible for me to send you any of my song to listen to it may be you will help me found out my problems on my vocals. I live in Namibia.
Gracias y saludos cordiales desde Mallorca para ti también Ken taplim
Love that song ken and agree that music should get back to this ..get on your soap box and sort it out for us all before it gets too late. ! Great videos. Going to check out your courses cheers 👍🏻
Good one , Ken, you are killing it lately!!!
Mazzy Star - Fade Into You. She has such a haunting voice.
Hi Ken! I think it would be pretty interesting to see a comparison on how Amys voice changed over the years and to hear what you think about that. The video you just referred to is a pretty old one from 2003/2004 but the band is still out there and recently did a tour with full orchestra! Thank you for the great content and the tips for singing! :)
Im from Brazil e eu amo seus vídeos! Ótimo trabalho
Obrigado, EU mesmo!
really like how you add couple notes in the end part. i'd love to hear that from amy too. great video man.
guys ken tamplin is so great man..and gifted
She is awesome!!!
She sure is, redskin4040!
INTERESTING Thanks Again Ken 👍
My favorite Evanescence song!
It's a great one, Queen A!
