By the way, the price of an Audemars Piguet in 1972 was 3750 Swiss francs, which was at the time more or less 1000 US$. Comparatively, a date submariner was 230 US$ at the same time ... And obviously, it was pretty easy to get 20% from any Rolex then.
Thanks for the info! 😁🙏
The knowledge you two have and the way you thoughtfully and thoroughly synthesize and analyze it all is simply remarkable. I was taken to school -- again -- today. Thank you!
Awesome to hear this! Thank you for the support and glad you enjoyed 😁🙌
Very interesting to watch. Thanks for all the information.
Thank you for watching and for your support 😁🙏
Thank you for these videos. Would love to see you stay at each watch a bit longer. Also with the b-roll as a specific watch or part of a specific watch is being discussed. Either way. These are great!
these discussions are real gems, do more of these.
Thanks so much for the support! Will do 😁🙏
Interesting how “accuracy” is not a factor
Or quartz. I think accuracy matters to a point but luxury in general means something that is not a necessity. An extra, superfluous .
As the Japanese started winning accuracy competitions in the 70s, the Swiss therefore stopped holding the accuracy contests as they had strong competition from non-domestic producers. I think this could be in the same vein.
I do agree though that high horology now has its merit from the high degree of hand finishing on case, bracelet and components of watches.
Thank you for the info !!
The manual wind watches I own maintain a consistent maximum variance of 1/2 (+/-) second per day. Truthfully, I don't require better accuracy than a divergence of 30 seconds (maximum) over the course of a month. Considering the watches I own are literally hand made (in some cases literally the entire watch was made by the one human set of hands prior to the advent of computers!) requiring variances of less than 2/1000 or 3/1000 of an inch, and the escapement beats some half million tines per day, I think that's astounding accuracy.
You want accuracy, use an apple watch 😂
Love the videos every time first time I saw it posted 30 seconds ago !

I know nothing about watches. But I like them. This is why I like this channel.
In the position now to start collecting and like to listen and learn.
That's awesome to hear this feedback! Glad you learned from this and thank you for your support 😁🙏
I think the 03.PL.W
Platinum 950 by MB&F is a true High Horology watch and very aesthetically pleasing
preposterous
Yea no kidding! It's a one of a kind masterpiece 😍🔥
Yes, this is my grail watch for sure.
Either that or a Greubel Forsey Double Tourbillion 30° Technique in platinum.
@@latemnf Very nice piece, skeleton dial I believe and also quite a big watch too
@@JmacAt Yes, on the upside my wrist is around 20cm, unfortunately I don't have a spare $350k kicking around at the moment lol. Maybe one day.
Shouldn't High horology also include accuracy ?...
It really depends on what you value as a collector. Mechanical watches are not and never will be the most accurate timing instruments. And so bearing that in mind I value other things more highly over accuracy - although I do still think a watch should run accurately. But for me, accuracy is not necessarily a standard I consider when it comes to "high horology" watches 😁👍
@Marco Ferrante Grand Seiko Spring drive is up there imho.
What do you guys think of new brands like Czapek aiming for haute horology?
Czapek a good brand, but suppperrr reliant on the Antarctique. They are just making tooo many of them and I think this will definitely hurt them and is showing as prices are already coming down on these models 😅
My AD in Las Vegas finally called and now I own a new stainless Submariner Date (126610LN), black on black. It's sitting in my safe unworn. It's a stellar Rolex, just not the one I was looking for. Whats the best way to sell this amazing timepiece? I'm not desperate, I'm going to ask a premium.
More of these plz
Will do, thank you for your support 😁🙏
What about the JLC Extreme Lab 2?
One of the most technical high complications sport watch what is very durable and highly waterproof from one of the tio high horology houses and brands out there.
Definitely an incredible piece and pretty incredible as its totally lubricantless. Super underrated but at the same time, it's a big watch 😅
@@MarcoFerranteWatches Yeah it is a big watch. But no bigger than an MB&F, Richard Mille, or even some of the more complicated APs
I love that Marco is always rocking the G Shock metal, such a great watch!
Haha thank you, love my MrG 😁🙌
learned so much as i usually do in your videos. love the teacher pupil vibe. you both interrupt each other but then stop and let the other talk because you realize they have something of import to say. remember your supposed to have a good eye so dump the plastic , if you need me to bring a " plant " over from Doylestown i will.
Always those three brands. What about Glashütte Original with the SeaQ, 60s and 70s line.
Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Parmigiani Fleurier to name but a few. The JLC Polaris Perpetual Calendar. All High Horology pieces with no hype
I will personally pass on all of these. The product is nowhere near as historic nor is it the same level of quality - and nowhere near as close of a nice design - as sports watches from the likes of PP, AP and VC 💯
My fav since a long time … still have my Royal Oak Jumbo B series … stainless … as a daily
Great segment, guy’s! AP is the King and Master of Haute Horology and extreme complications, the innovators and Ikon before Patek and Vacheron! Patek and Vacheron are so Inferior,to AP!
I wouldn't say inferior, each brand has their merits of course. But when it comes to sports complications, I give AP the crown with RM coming in as a close second 😁👍
I didn’t skip the ads for you ;)
Haha thank you! 😁🙏
I wish you guys would do a movement piece like the eta 7750 and comparisons with other main stream movments
What would you say is a perfect buy for a new person to watches … I have several GSHOCKS that I wear but a new watch to get that are only going up in value.
Any thoughts on the Shinola brand?
How much you looking to spend? Maybe up to $1000?
@@chexnfx7161 Yes that’s around the high end of budget. I did just get a Deep Blue Diver I really like.
@@anthonyzanni5000 nice. I was going to recommend maybe a tissot(don’t buy retail). Hard to beat the prx
What's the difference in the Geneva stamp and swiss-made stamp.
I know for say Swiss made that 60% of the cost of the manufacturing of the watch has to be from Switzerland.
Does 1 refer to manufacturing and materials and the other refer to Quality? And what dictates quality of Geneva if that's the case
Geneva seal is only obtained if a watch meets a pretty high and rigorous standard for watchmaking and is made within the canton of Geneva. Swiss Made stamp is achieved if 60% of the value of the watch - be it in the case, dial or movment - is assembled and made in Switzerland 😁👍
My dude is still wearing a g shock lol class
Haha love my MrG 😁🙌
Don't sleep on watch because I have a commission on every sale 😂
Regardless of that, I can't recommend a watch I like or believe in? My goal is always to help new and old collectors alike simply make informed decisions and grow their passion for this amazing hobby 😁🙌
@@MarcoFerranteWatches people are salty these days if somebody makes a buck on anything lol. They’re hopeless. Thanks for your knowledge.
@@chexnfx7161 Thank you! 😁🙏
What about most accurate caliber or watch?
It really depends on what you value as a collector. Mechanical watches are not and never will be the most accurate timing instruments. And so bearing that in mind I value other things more highly over accuracy - although I do still think a watch should run accurately. But for me, accuracy is not necessarily a standard I consider when it comes to "high horology" watches 😁👍
So if I can get in demand watches brand new at showroom price and ship them to you I’ll make money right? In my area Rolex, AP etc are nearly always in stock brand new latest releases etc
It's not necessarily the case. It's pretty highly dependent on the model. Each individual model has a market price which could be above or below MSRP. Hope this makes sense 😁👍
@@MarcoFerranteWatches I know what you’re saying, but I’m saying for example I can get a new 22/23 Batman or Pepsi or hulk for list price, I could just send it to you guys for a small profit?
@@samthoma2719 Hulk is discontinued but you can get the Starbucks. Pepsi and Batman yes they both are great buys at MSRP 👍
If you get me a Pepsi I am definitely willing to pay a premium
@Sam Thoma
The thing with AP is that 90% of them are sports watches, how come no mention of the Aquanaut?
AP is highly reliant on the Royal Oak no doubt. But you are starting to see more and more watches released outside of the Royal Oak range which is great to see! Aquanaut is also phenomenal we just wanted to center the conversation around 3 of the most historic and popular sports watches of all time 😁🙌
@@MarcoFerranteWatches thanks for the reply Marco
I thought Marco was just a Casio expert?
Not by a longshot haha I just love my MrG 😁🙌
don't call Marco a baby
I'm surprised Marco wasn't canned after his Drake OVER Eminem comment lol 😂
😆 .. I was always the staunchest Eminem supporter. I think 1 on 1 Eminem would eat Drake for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I don't think its close. But Drake's body of work is so extensive and impressive. He has so many incredible songs. For every major hit that JayZ or Eminem have, Drake has like 10 to counter it. He can sing, rap, kill a beat, etc. So that's my reasoning 😁🙌
I know you love the AP but Patek have been doing these complications on a bigger scale for a lot longer .
U r absolutely right! I guess they are only talking about high complications in sport model cases. The only model competing with RO is nautilus and aquanaut, but they missed the topic on why Patek doesn't wanna be a one model watch brand and it's not Patek can't make super high comps in sport models, they simply don't want to do so.
@@yidong5567 yes if Patek need to step it up into complications in sports very easy for them ,they have the knowledge and experience that other just do not have .
@@ichrono1228 absolutely, Patek is planning for the next 50-100 years. Unlike Ap who has no option other than keep investing in ROs simply because dress models don't sell at all, Patek has so much more flexibility to adjust the demand and trend for the long term future.
Patek is known for complication no doubt. But when it comes to sports watched there is no brand more innovative and that pushes the boundaries of sports complications like AP and also Richard Mille 😁👍
@@MarcoFerranteWatches U r 100% correct also Marco under the content of sport watches. The market requires AP to push the boundaries for sport models and they love their sport models. On the other hand, Patek doesn't have the absolute need to meet the demand for high comp sport models so they chose to leave some leverage for the future by putting outdated movement into sport lines. I think all we are saying here is that Patek has more flexibility than AP in terms of high comps. But there is no doubt AP (who also owns RM) is the industry leader in sport watches and the good sign is that the demand for RO created opportunities for AP to put the best movement in dress models like this year to force the market to at least reconsider their dress watches. 🤣
I'd like to think that Marco's making a statement while talking about high horology sports watches while wearing what is clearly the best sports watch. That MRG is a better sports piece than any of the pieces on the table.
Haha no statement meant to be made. I just love my MrG. Phenomenal watch and great to wear everyday but it certainly is no Royal Oak, Nautilus or Overseas 👍
Just guessing here but is that a ceramic casio
It's titanium DLC .. I believe the reference of it is MrG B5000
If you buy 10% off from the dealers costs (45%), shouldn't that be 40.5% ? not 39.5%!?
Marco's horology knowledge is God tier, a soft-spoken Canadian version of Nico
Haha thank you I really appreciate that 😁🙏
PRX??
😆😆😆
love VC
Me too 😁🙌
MY GOD THE SAME 3 WATCH BRANDS OVER AND OVER AND OVER!!!!!!! Stop hyping what YOU SELL and have a REAL SHOW!!! Not watchable anymore I have moved on.....Oh wait next episode AP, VC, Patek but will find another way to stop dropping sales.
It the same thing when you call them if it isn't their hype brands the salespeople are lost.
Have to agree. Some content on other brands that are nore affordable would be great
They are 3 of the premier and most important watch brands in the world so it makes complete sense why they are talked about so much 😁🙌
So to me, I am not an RM fan!!! I I’m not rich, and even if I was, I would never buy an RM !! I simply put they look like toys that come out of a crackerjack box, cheap, and ugly my opinion take it or leave it…
What happened to Chris?
He has a RUclips channel called 'The Watch Lounge' I saw he said he was let go from LB. I subbed over there to give him some support.
Michael Jordan greatest of all time for the rest of time
Let's agree to disagree 😜

As a sports watch? 🤔
I never really considered it to be honest. Maybe with the new steel case models as their slightly more robust for everday wear?
Again, great content. But please fix the audio, it sounds cheap, crackly, and echoey. Audio is orders of magnitude more important for retention than video quality.
Appreciate the feedback and will troubleshoot to improve it 🙏
czapek!
Czapek a good brand, but suppperrr reliant on the Antarctique. They are just making tooo many of them and I think this will definitely hurt them and is showing as prices are already coming down on these models 😅
@@MarcoFerranteWatches They make only a couple hundred a year... this keeps them pretty scarce and production is low. I think they're coming down just like the rest of the market with the hype players falling the hardest. Czapek def had some hype.
when i was talking like a baby. haha i heard my elders telling about the stupid watches with bolds on the front, like santos and AP in stainless steal for that amount of money...duhhh😁😁thrue story, like everything i say😎😎👏👏nice show, where are the videos of the rest of the team?.. i miss them😢😢

Marco is insufferable
Absolutely horrible I would never buy a water from marco never mind a 60k watch he's just a person thats turns off every one in an entire 200 person room with his absolute stomach turning vibes just as a person rlly creepy idc wat he knows about rolex hes just creepy and a total turn off to every 1
I only buy stainless steel band the rubber and leather rip over time
Fair enough 👍
If you want a God Tier Sports Watch that won't break the Bank, is accurate, Shock Proof and can even get run over by an 18 Wheeler... Get a G Shock. Can your AP or Rollie do that?😂😂😂
Yeah, my Rolex has survived a tornado, a train wreck, it was run over by 2 18wheelers, been through a hurricane, a ship wreck, gone over a cliff, been shot 3 times, survived a bomb blast and it runs better now then it ever has, and it's never been serviced.😊
I have enough sense to not get my watch ran over by an 18-wheeler.
Haha love my G-Shock 🙌
