Forget the technical stuff, here are two guys loving what they do, playing great guitars and entertaining people. The chemistry between Lee and Pete is fantastic. Pete always manages to bring out something extra in Lee's playing, which has come on in leaps and bounds in the last year or two. Keep up the awesome work!!

Regarding minimizing lapel mic bleed: Assuming you are putting all the audio into a universal audio interface, you can put compressors that have keyed inputs/side chains on the channels that have the lapel mics on them. Then key those compressors with the signal coming in from each persons guitar. That way the lapel mics will “duck” when the guitars produce sound.

I love my PRS guitars - not got a Paul's yet and Fire Red Burst is my favourite PRS colour scheme. I prefer the faux binding style much more than their 'wraps' as the Fire Red in this video is as wraps mean the beauty of the mahogany on the back of the body/neck is painted over.
Pete Honore really deserves that PRS and really makes it sing....

    Great Content fellas!
    On PRS's I have Two (Custom 24/10 Quilt,Custom 22/flame top not 10 stop tail piece.) 1994/1995.
I have tried since purchasing these(94&95), to love them but it just never happened. Both are Black Cherry.
Both are beautiful, immaculately crafted guitars but after the eye candy wore off I found that my hands didn't
like them near as much as my eyes did. Like many say they nearly play them selves, true , but i also find the gloss
and the neck(WT)cause a considerable amount of hand fatigue and maybe thats why I can't bond with them. Although the 22 is
my preferred of the two.I just can't bring myself to sand the gloss off the necks.
I had never more than looked at a Fender of any kind until 3 yrs ago when i got a hankering for a strat for some reason. Bought a select
and from the second i picked it up it felt like part of me. Since I have acquired a double cut tele(the best guitar in the world)IMO lol
I Play the fenders everyday and the Pauls once a week or two lol. to each his own i guess, but i think Pete gets some of what I'm saying.
All that rambling to say If you want a PRS go somewhere and PLAY one and stop looking at it lol It's a lot of money for an instrument
by any standard so be sure you know what your doing when you buy one. All Pauls to me also have a glassiness to there sound that wears at times.

    • @StringsOfCrossroads
      @StringsOfCrossroads 4 года назад

Juan Blanco I totally agree with you and have the same problem with the Prs necks that I’d hate to sand back because they’re so beautiful! Yet my fenders - sand paper from day one! Funny how one is eye candy and the other workhorse designed!
I may use some OOOO steel wool to slightly anti gloss the prs neck and then if I want it back to new and shiny some T cut will bring it right back to beautiful again! I tried this on my gretsch and it made a huge difference and did shine up again with some polish and elbow grease.

The american guitar has a richer tone with more overtones going on, as you'd expect from a £3600 guitar v a £800 guitar. Having said that what the two have in common is remarkable clarity, even with the SE version, and I think this is probably down to this TCI tuning procedure or whatever it is. If they are gong to roll this out to other models in 2020, it will be interesting to compare them with last years models. I bought the last SE Pauls guitar in aqua from you during the lockdown, mainly because I wanted the mini toggle switching that was on the custom 24 35th edition, and you were out of stock. Now Im glad I got the Paul's guitar, because the tone is phenomonal for the price, even at high gain it is never muddy, although, the pickups seem to be a lower output than some PRS guitars. Also the build quality is great. Cheers guys.

The SE version of this guitar is amazing value for money, and a great instrument, but for some reason they put the neck pickup in backwards and it's impossible to set the pickup height properly. A five minute job to turn it around. I've seen some of the new batch come with it already done, so maybe on the newer ones they've addressed the issue.

Maybe a headworn mic can help you live presentations. Guitars sound kind of thin (too much string noise). Still enjoy your playing though.

lapel mics sound like a GREAT slap-back stereo delay. No joke.

Are the frets jumbo or thin on the American?

All frets on PRS core guitars are medium size nickel. Except for DGT, or some other less produced signature models.

The coils split switches don't look too robust, can we have a closer look?

The US model's switches are solid and tight; not flimsy and cheap feeling at all.

I can't believe Pete didn't tell what delay he used and the setting. It make his sound fantastic imho

The SE comes with 9s, not 10s
The neck is the wide fat profile
The bridge is the same as the US model
The balance is great especially when standing and using a strap
I have it and it’s an amazing instrument.

James Moreland hi. I really want to get the SE version too but I’ve heard that the pickups are just really a regular humbucker with split coils. I appreciate they’re probably not the same as the Us version but I was hoping that at least the same concept pickup would be used perhaps just wound in the Far East. Can you confirm if this rumour is true? Or are they different to a regular humbucker and therefore a guitar worth getting? I just have a huge collection and would like something different to my regular HH guitars.

Catherine Faulkner Sorry Catherine but I don’t know the answer to that, they do sound very nice to my ears but I’m no expert. The coil splits sound very authentic though and I really like the versatility I can get from it, it’s my favourite guitar I own (although admittedly I only own 3!)
Give one a try, you can always change the pickups if you don’t vibe with them.
