And if you need it even quieter, place the REMO tone control rings on the snare and toms prior to placing the black hole pad over them. Also, removing the center patch will quiet them even further, if need be.

The RTOM Black Hole Practice System 🥁 is an excellent concept 🤘🏻 and I don't know why anyone has thought of this before. BUT the Bass Drum Mesh Head needs to be redesigned. Having it go inside the Bass Drum Hoop would cause it to function better and be more secure and the bonus would be that you wouldn't have to take your Bass Drum Pedal off the hoop, which is totally stupid 🙅🏻‍♂️. Also there is no 26" Bass Drum size 👎🏻. I would also like to see for the Snare and Floor Tom have larger Sound Patch proportional to the drums larger diameter sizes. From a Creative Director and Drummer :) ✌🏻

    Hey RTOM how are you??
Im writting this comment cause i a have a little issue. I live in a rental apartment, so i wont make the soundproof room or a practice room for my kit, cause its a rental space, any time they could ask me to leave and would have to do it. So i found this pads and the Remo Silentstrokes and im debating which one its better for this situation.
For my own good i looke for an apartment that was in the 1st floor, so they are not angry neighbors complaining about the noise that my feet make when playing, and doesnt have the low freq also bothering them; so thats a plus for me, but as said before, i have no "home studio" or "soundproof room" so i wanted to know, without all the mics and stuff you record your videos, how do they sound to your ears??
Thanks for your time and help!!!

Is it compatible with agean low noise cymbals in terms of volume?
Does it sounds good for an acoustic concert? With an acoustic guitar?

Personally, I'd have a heart attack if this was what I had to play at a show. You can play quieter. Way better solution. This sounds worse than the average bar kit.
If you have a component that's just LOUD by nature, just tape it a bit. Way better than horrifically bad sounding piccolo snares (those stupid, skinny little things) or just garbage pieces. Jmo

So can I use these without drum shells? I'm brand new to drumming and don't even have a set yet. It would be pretty awesome to throw these in a bag and go to my drum lessons.

    • @RTOMCorporation
      @RTOMCorporation  2 года назад +1

If you don't have an acoustic drum set you can technically use a 14" Black Hole on a snare stand as a practice pad but they are normally intended for snapping onto your acoustic kit.

  • @carmangary

It would be nice if you had some recordings of how they sound. I keep hearing that they keep the sound of the drums but making it them quieter but every video I have seen with these sounded like the person is hitting on cardboard. Probably due to the quality of the recording, but still, I want to know they sound like drums before I spend the money on them.

I'd just either A, play quieter or B get better neighbors.
      C, use smaller sticks/rods...
It would never occur to me to spend 4 grand + on a kit, to have them sound this bad.
Bernard Purdie has a lot on dynamics. Changed my life.

@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 That's you. But there are plenty of people who spend far less than $4000 on their kit and want to play in their house without annoying everyone else inside. I ended up buying a set and love them because I can go out in my shed and beat the hell out of them without even needing to wear hearing protection or bothering anyone at all. The sound is decent and am really happy that I got a set. I didn't pay full price, though. I would have a hard time paying the asking price but since there are comparable options at much lower price. RTOM is coming out with a lower cost solution very soon, actually.

@@RTOMCorporation You can't tell anything from RUclips videos due to how the audio is processed. It's kind of like those videos of people welding. On video, it is bright but you can still look at it all day long. In real life, it would blind you.

Can these take abuse...I hit hard and so do my students...I have a bunch of students and with the price..about how
Long would they last..I. Am Using Evans hq sound off and now, they last 6 months or so..depends how cheap I am with changing them.. also how much of the height does it add on each drum..I don’t want to have to change my heights for every student or my self for that fact

However, I wouldn't recommend removing the patch from the bass drum, since it acts as protection between the beater and mesh head.

    • @windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823

YES. Nothing like replacing a 50.00 drum head...for no reason.
Use the plastic ones/side. Not the felt. Felt puts holes in, particularly in V-drums.

I melted one of these Moongel things. Don't know how. It was never in the sun or by a heat source.
I'd rather play quieter than any damping thing I've ever heard...I'd have a fit if these were the "cymbals" I was presented with. Yucky. Lol.

    • @RTOMCorporation

The Black Hole Practice System maintains the same feel and tone of your real drums just at a lower volume. They are great for practicing the drums in an environment where loud noise can be an issue.
