  • I thought for a long time, that to be productive and making the most of my 20’s I needed to be constantly doing something. I thought the only way to not be labeled boring was to be able to join when everyone at work shared stories of their wild weekends. I wish I could do more but this is all my burnt-out brain can handle at the moment.

Hi Tyla! I’m a new subscriber & I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I’m a 29-year old Black woman & currently going through the process of autism testing. I’ve always felt “weird” (my Mom says I’ve always been socially “off”) but over the years with socialization & figuring out what people “like”, I’ve been able to mask and “get by”.
I’ve been lying in bed sick today and catching up on previous videos & podcast episodes. I feel so seen I could cry. So much of what you & podcast guests said deeply resonates with me. Thank you for making this space & sending you hugs as you navigate autism burnout 💛

I love how you ended the video “I’ve had a good weekend, I’m happy, so that’s all that matters.” Whatever fills you up after the work week is awesome & enough. I’m thankful as a fellow human who deals with autistic burnout to see you claiming that for yourself, it’s inspiring to me. I love cleaning/organizing the apt or just laying down listening to podcasts or watching a comfort show and cooking the bare minimum. It’s okay to take care of yourself your way.❤ thank you for sharing

Great video. I don’t know how anyone with autism holds down a job and is able to do self care, you’re doing great!

seems like the 40 hour work week was designed exclusively for two-person households (typically one that works for income while the other works for household needs like cooking and cleaning). the compulsory western work week was designed to exhaust anyone doing it alone. i want a medal for having to put up with it-- a medal, $5 million, an apology, and the dismantling of the whole system.

If your colleagues don't appreciate cookie baking they don't deserve you :p
I (ASD and maybe ADHD/ASD but who knows) I needed to do nothing during the Christmas/New Year's Holidays, full-time job, some drama at work, really did not have the energy for anything bar cooking and then there rest was just doing very little and eating too much (yum). It is good you know what you need and that you go for it.

Thank you! Yep all good now, just have to take some time and distance and see how we go. BBC millionaires shortbread and best brownies are the way to go if you are not dairy intolerant/vegan :)
