I always loved this piece as a kid. If for no other reason than the overall feeling I always had of "What the actual fuck". I didn't know how to phrase it at that point, but honestly this is so batshit insane in comparison to the rest of the film that I never really could figure out what to do with it. WHATS WITH THE RUBE GOLDBURG?!?! WHY DOES THAT SPINNING WARDROBE HAVE ANTLERS AND CONFETTI AND A PAPER SEX DOLL?!?! WHY DO THEIR BODIES GO PINK?!? WHAT ARE THEY SAYING AT THE END!?!? Ah the joys of growing up.
This was always my favorite segment in the video as a kid. And it still is. XD. I've always loved this song- though I never really understood what was going on. XD.(As a kid, anyway.)
I like the song for being so unusual, particularly to this soundtrack. It was/is a nice, almost comedic break among a lot of surprisingly lovely, atmospheric music. And I adore the Congressional band. Don't know why, but the scene at 1:25 is a lawl every time I see it.
Sally in the song reminds me of my ex-wife... "All she wants is cash!" -- Good, swinging tune, though. From the video album, "The Gate to the Mind's Eye."
I used to love watching this as a kid. We had all of the Mind's Eye animations on laserdisc. I don't know why, but it sounds like they added a whole bunch of cheap sound effects to the remastered versions. Still good, but it's just not the same.
I must have... And I actually prefer the version with less sound effects... and not just because I've been watching that version since I was 9 years old. ^^;
