Lyrics:
Ha! It's poetry in motion
She turned her tender eyes to me
As deep as any ocean
As sweet as any harmony
Mm, but she blinded me with science
(She blinded me with science!)
And failed me in biology, yeah
Huh-huh
When I'm dancing close to her
(Blinding me with science, science)
(Science!)
I can smell the chemicals
(Blinding me with science, science)
(Science!)
Mm, now but it's poetry in motion
And when she turned her eyes to me
As deep as any ocean
As sweet as any harmony
She blinded me with science
(She blinded me with science!)
And failed me in geometry
When she's dancing next to me
(Blinding me with science, science)
(Science!)
I can hear machinery
(Blinding me with science, science)
(Science!)
Hah! It's poetry in motion
And now she's making love to me
The spheres are in commotion
The elements in harmony
She blinded me with science
(She blinded me with science!)
And hit me with technology
(Good heavens, Miss Sakamoto! You're beautiful!)
I don't believe it, there she goes again
She's tidied up and I can't find anything
All my tubes and wires and careful notes
And antiquated notions
But, it's poetry in motion
And when she turned her eyes to me
As deep as any ocean
As sweet as any harmony
Uh, she blinded me with science
(She blinded me with science!)
She blinded me with

As a black kid from the northside of Chicago, I was exposed to many cultures and forms of music. This song crossed all barriers and was really important in bringing together different types of people. I will always love this song because it reminds me of the carefree 80's.
👍🇫🇮
Exactly!!!
It's weird to me to think of the 80s as carefree, cause I remember living under the real perceived threat, as a kid, of nuclear war with the Soviet Union, the Cold War was real. They really were a carefree time though. Miss those formative years of my youth.
Music unites us all I believe! The same year as a white kid growing up in northwest hearing Grandmaster Melle Mel - White Lines blew my mind! Hearing it today the music has changed but has society?
Hey that's what I keep telling millenials and GenZe's that GenX was not humg up on race and it was in part to the musical culture of our time it allowed us to transcend race
Working in the clinical laboratory from 1980-1986 this song made my fellow women of science feel seen and loved! ❤ We would blast it in the lab. 😊

I miss the 80s so badly. It truly was a fun time to be a child.
It was even more fun to be in your 20's.
@@joycebrackbill-henderly8311 Right, but I'd trade in my 20s just to be a little kid again. Adult life blows.
It's not that I wanna go there again, It just the 'SONICS' in my Car Again! 😍
I miss the 80's so much.I was in my 20's hitting the New Wave/Punk bars 4 days aweek.

My favorite line:
"She's tidied up and I can't find anything!"
Her tender eyes to me...
As deep as any ocean.
As sweet as any harmony...

For some reason the cry of "science!!!" every so often between the verses cracks me up
You're not alone.
Big Budget Video...gotta love 'em!!! SCIENCE!!!!!🧐🧐🧐
It sounds like it saying "silence" but in a very bad way honestly
I laugh every time.. Especially when he says it with his hand gestures.... SCIENCE!!
@Louise X Well, at least until people started yelling "Science" in a obvious impersonation of him, whenever they saw him
I yell out SCIENCE whenever I get mad instead of swearing which makes me laugh and forget what troubled me.
Love it! I been mindfully trying not to curse! Thanks for the hilarious way to conquer my poddy mouth. lol
SCIENCE MR WHITE!!!

I'm using this. Thank u kind sir.
For me, 1982-1983 was the weirdest and most fun era a teenager could experience. Thomas Dolby played a standout role in that.
Agreed! Such a great time to grow up, MTV was magical
Music is the closest thing we have to a time machine.
I agree 👍
...especially with music videos.
Unfortunately it's true! AT least we have something left from then! LONG LIVE the 80's!
Amen
This song is a respected "clinic" in how to produce, record, and mix music for a good reason.
The 80's were an awesome time to be alive. I want to go back and live it all over again.
I was in my 20’s so I just wish I could remember more of it. This was before “Just say no”.
@@jensenon Ronald Reagan 1980-1988
Luckily I was born in 1988 and I didn't hear that bull crap slogan from Ronald and Nancy Reagan " just saying no "until '96, because quite frankly the campaign has failed. There are more people taking drugs than they were back in the 1980s.

Thomas Dolby is today a distinguished professor at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. True.
And he saved me from being mugged at the 7/11 in Mt. Vernon, Baltimore!!! A true musical genius and hero.

Something so whimsical about this song, when you hear the beginning you just know you’re in for a good time
The song is whimsical.
As the video shows a wheelchair-bound cripple sent to his death by drowning at the very end.
That always adds a nice touch.
Yea. Who doesn't.😊
Good track, but I don't care for the singer's "out of control hiccup problem" in the tune. Reminds me of "The Flintstones" when Barney Rubble had repeated hiccup problems that made him jump up and down about thirteen times.
This is going in the Whimsical genre now along with Safety Dance, Strange Animal and Once in a Lifetime.
I love the dude on the roof with the backpack strapped on, lol.
I am an actual scientist. I sometimes scream out SCIENCE for no reason at all because of this video.

Having Magnus Pyke in the video & contributing to the song was genius. To a certain generation who grew-up in the 70s - early 80s, he WAS the eccentric scientist from the TV!
Him and Heinz Wolff.

Unfortunately their isn't much surviving video or audio recordings of Magnus Pyke.
