I’ve gotten a few questions about the 2.9 T6 & 2.5T. I definitely wouldn’t trust that 4 Speed GM Transmission in the T6 for anything that’s not the road 😂. The 2.5T engine & transmission are a decent pair!! Same powertrain in the P2 XC70. If I wasn’t driving a V8 XC90, I’d say I’d probably rocking a 2.5T over a 3.2 Edit: I also forgot to mention that the XC90 can ford up to 16 inches of water stock. Read my owners manual!
I agree on the T6, it should be avoided for the XC90. The GM transmission just isn't robust enough to handle the power of the engine and early failures are common. It's not as bad in the S80 T6 due to the lighter weight, but the XC90 really puts the GM transmission to work. I have no experience with the XC90 T6 (we have a 2.5T) but I do have a 2000 S80 T6 with the GM transmission. Oddly enough, it has 270,000 miles with the original transmission and it runs like new. So your miles may vary haha.
I have had a lot of experience with both 3.2L and whiteblocks. I have to say the 3.2L I believe is better. About the same power, but better fuel economy and much better ease of service. PCV system and timing belt are basically non-issues on the 3.2L.
Overlanding with style, durability, reliability, and comfort! Why not? I have a 2005 XC90 and am removing all the rear seats just leaving the driver & passenger seats. Planning in-floor storage compartments with a bed for two. I have a Tyger extended cargo rack with two Pelican case storage boxes. Excellent weekend getaway rig!
I made the same choice and got a 2005 XC90 for the same thing. I agree with all points you made and am excited to see more. And you gotta love that lifetime Volvo warranty on parts or maintenance done by an authored dealer. No other car companies offer that kind of warranty. Good thinking.

Just need to get past the dreary interior, LOL!

Landrover's 4th gen controller came with additional programming to switch between 4 selectable modes:. Normal, Snow, sand, rock&ruts. I know its a bit of a stretch...
