Its so lovely to see a real person actually still producing something so lovely, with some of the struggles most of us have, tiny spaces, forgetting to press seams, I'd rather watch you anyday than an over edited perfectionist. Ive ordered some gorgeous fabric to follow along with your tutorial. Thankyou for keeping it real 💓
Oh Holly, you are just adorable!!! Sewing along with your video was just like sewing with a friend. Thank you. I’m a long-time sewist. I usually make very complicated handbags and garments. Making this bag with you was so relaxing and entertaining. I hit that “Subscribe” button so fast!
You are so sweet. I really like your video. I love how happy you are in this video. So reminds me of my mother in law and she is one of my favorite people still alive lol. Thank you for doing this video. Please please please do more videos. I am fairly new to sewing so I am all about getting new patterns and videos.
I am an old lady who just started sewing again after 40 years of not touching a sewing machine. Thanks for your wonderful instructions. I finished my bag last night and took it grocery shopping today. It came out terrific and it’s just the perfect size
Holly! This is me jumping up and down with excitement that you are sewing and creating another tutorial! You share so many great little tips and have a lovely style that I enjoy following along with. I especially like that you take the time to write out the cutting instructions on paper! Your fabric selections are en pointe!!!
An idea I had was instead of cutting off the blue pocket fabric since it's right side already (I think) fold it over and put a small seam on it (to look finished) and stitch it to the top of the pocket for a little added interest. Just a thought. I've saved your video and I can't wait to sew this!
Thanks Holly! Looks so simple . Last time I made a bag, I couldn’t find the right color webbing and the lady at the quilt shop showed me how to cover the webbing on the handles. So simple and it added a different flavor to the bag. Best of both worlds (I hope).
Love that Rifle Paper Co. fabric. 😍. I think I'd add a zip in the side of the pocket and close the top. Cut the lining 1 inch longer and you'll have a ½" to roll to the front as an accent. Will definitely be making this one. 😁
Appreciate the step by step detail tutorial. I😢t was not too long even tho I had to look at it 3 times to make sure I got every step right . The key is not to miss a step just like when I was doing income taxes,to follow instructions step by step and not to jump around and not miss a step. I will 😅use this tutorial guide as my basic method for making a market or Whatever 😂Bag. Thanks and may God bless you and continue to show you favor 🎉. Peace
thank you for this video - made my first tote bag today and it turned out beautifully - I surprised myself and couldn't have done it without your video
I've just been given quite a bit of spare material by a friend and so I thought I would make bags for our Church charity table this bag is perfect and I can't wait to start - thank you
I live in Allegheny County, PA, near Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh just banned single use plastic bags, and the county is expected to follow, so I think these would be the perfect Christmas gifts for my coworkers, there are three that work in my department and we do exchange gifts, so thank you so much for the tutorial! You explain things so well!
Hello Holli, I just love your video and you. You are a gem I love your caring and your openness, most of was your statement about not being a perfectionist, that is why I saved you as my favorite and since watching, I’ve made 4 tote bags, a slight variation but along your lines. Thank you again, you are a delight to watch💕 Gisela
❤❤❤I love this bag. And the fabric is beautiful. I love farmers markets, The smell of freshnes. I also agree about webbing I can't wait to see the daisy's.
This was great, I had a pattern that I got on the Robert Kaufman website and it was poorly written, I was so lost I found your site and was able to finish the bag. I hope to make future bags just like you just made.
This is the best tutorial out there. Directions are spot on and very easy to follow. I’ve made several of these now and I love them Best video for making a great tote. Thank you so much for sharing.
This actually looks like a true beginner bag (that I can do) when so many call a bag simple for beginners with like 5000 pieces and steps. I'm going to have to make this one. Thank you
Beautiful! Love your fabric choices. Getting ready to make this bag as I just found some pink/orange ombre denim (looks like sunset) on clearance, together with a matching floral for lining. 😊
Hey Holly!!! I am so glad you had this pop up at the end of this morning’s post. I love this bag and I will be making one!!! Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention!! 🤗
I just discovered your site and am so glad I did. So far it is great, I like someone who has a calm demeanor as well. But I do love your beautiful nails. I always notice nails as mine are stubs and look like …well…. Anyway I am enjoying the video an will be looking for others! Thanks JaneS
Wonderful bag. I'm going to challenge myself with this one. Hope the straps being done like this will give the bag a little more strength for heavy glass purchases. Thank you so much for doing this vid and luv that you're so down-to-earth Holly. Awesome!
Your bag looks just like the bags I have bought from LLBean. Im so impressed. I can not wait to make this. TFS. BTW love the background music you played, so relaxing.
Holly, I love the fabric that you used on your bag, It is so pretty. It definitely looks like something that should go to the Farmer's Market. So stylish. Have a wonderful weekend. Sending Love and Light to you and your You Tube community. ❤
This was posted on my sister's birthday last year, and it just showed up today in my suggested videos. I have a very similar sewing philosophy to yours: if you're looking for perfection, don't come knockin' on my door. I get 'er dun, but it ain't perfect. I think if I ever got something done perfectly I'd just throw it away and start over. LOL
I love the first bag you made. The dandelion canvas and that gorgeous fall print inside are so pretty. I love this one too, but the first one is still first in my mind.
Holly - thanks SOO much for this bag tutorial. This is the easiest one I have ever seen. Makes me want to go and cut up some fabric and make one right now. Love how you did the bottom piece. I've seen a lot of bag making tips and tricks but the way you explained this it just seemed so easy. Hope I have time to make one this long weekend. Thank you again. ♥️👜
You are a good instructor. I really really like your choice of fabric patterns. I’m a flower lover too. You made it seem so simple I might just give this a try. We can all use market bags these days. And why use ones that look like everyone else’s. Stand out, be distinctive! You are certain to get some compliments on this one. Someone will ask where you bought it for sure!!
Thank you Holly for the easy tote bag video. You make things look so simple. Now I know what to do with the canvas fabric I have. 😁 Your videos start my morning so thank you!! Have a great day!
I take my seams a little wider, I find it makes the bags stronger as they do seem to get a lot of use. I sometimes box my corners by cutting 1.5 inch squares on the bottoms. I have also done them by sewing the points that I attach to either the sides for strength or to the lining. Thank you for this turorial. I sometimes make my lining a tad longer so a small bit of lining nests on top of the outside, gives another look, then I top stitch.
If you are not a fan of vegetables, it might be because of how they are cooked. I made a mix of 2 bunches of cut up scallions, 2 - 8 oz containers of sliced mushrooms and thinly sliced carrots, as much as you like 3/4 stock of butter or more if needed 1/4 cup oil 4-5 med sized garlic cloves diced or more to taste Salt and pepper to taste Cooked rice or pasta Melt butter in med sized skillet. Add garlic, cook until light golden, Melt butter in a med size fry pan. Add thinly sliced carrots, cook about three minutes Add scallions and mushrooms. Let cook. After a while add you oil so Butter does not burn Cook until all are tender Serve over rice or pasta Peas and onions are good too. Oil in pan, add diced onions until golden. Add frozen peas and cook until tender. Yummy.
Holly... thank you thank you...I love your video...your clear instructions and very calm way are excellent...after watching a video that was speeding through the instructions and sewings(made a bag that was not correct but usable) I have made six maybe seven bags using your video... the bags looks beautiful... thank you
Thank you for your lovely tutorial ❤ I like how you sewed the pocket. Will be making quite a few of these soon. New subscriber hello from Queensland Australia
That was a really good tutorial! You presented the project and steps to sew it very concisely and clearly, well done! I've made quite a few bags but often have to review the steps. I'm bookmarking this as I'm sure I'll need retraining again for my next bag. 😊 Thanks Holly!
Thank you so much Holly, I really really enjoyed watching you create this awesome and beautiful bag today. I really really love ❤❤❤ it. The canvas fabric is so stunning and nice. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up too

Love your tutorial? Watched it yesterday, went out and bought fabric for about three bags, and made one today!!

If you are not a fan of vegetables, it might be because of how they are cooked.
I made a mix of 2 bunches of cut up
scallions, 2 - 8 oz containers of sliced mushrooms and thinly sliced carrots, as much as you like
3/4 stock of butter or more if needed
1/4 cup oil
4-5 med sized garlic cloves diced or more to taste
Salt and pepper to taste
Cooked rice or pasta
Melt butter in med sized skillet.
Add garlic, cook until light golden,
Melt butter in a med size fry pan. Add thinly sliced carrots, cook about three minutes
