Tottenham’s 11 remaining fixtures aren’t as bad as some might believe. Four of the games are against teams currently occupying the bottom four places in the league (12 points up for grabs there). Three of the games are against teams currently occupying the top three places in the league - but how many points have those three teams taken off Tottenham this season - two out of a possible nine! A trip to Newcastle and three away London derbies to round things off - I expect Tottenham to pass the 70-point mark and secure a top four slot.
Cool, but not part of Ange's philosophy to look too far ahead. Why would he do it as a coach and manager? Academic exercises are great on these forums, but we all know the vagaries of the game make fortune telling a fun, but fruitless exercise.
If the is one thing you can bet your house on, Ange will have a crack at Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City. There will be no sitting back and playing on the counter. I can see Spurs winning at least one of these three games with a fully fit squad.
it's not the bad games that they struggled in
@PhilipDI and the first game was sgainst Fulham, a 3-0 loss. Good start.
Spurs were absolutely ruthless 😳
Battered them
Let's see how it ends
£40m for Maddison, £36m for van de ven, possibly £15m for werner unreal business by Tottenham
Not forgetting £17m for Vicario & £18m for Sarr
19m for bentencur, 25m for bissuma, 40m for kulusexy, 15m for udogie. Bargains
Bargains
If Leipzig pay Spurs £14 million to take Werner then that's a great deal.
Smart buys is the key
People say Spurs player investments have been great. Fair enough but players like Sarr, Porro and Bissouma were already there and not getting a look in but have been superb for the most part this year. So thats down to Conte not fancying them. The fact that Maddison, Van Der Ven, Vicario and Udogie are playing like the bees knees is down to the manager. If United had bought these lot they'd be playing like the rest of the United squad. United spend a fortune every year and then when it doesn't work out cry that they need more investment and new players. Postecogglou has done an amazing job with these guys and is bringing the best out in them. If we get European football next year we won't have trouble attracting players to the club. With the manager that we have and the style of football we play its all looking rosy.
100000000% spot on
Paratici brought them all

I do believe after CL final poch was given around 150m in backing. Ndombele, Lo Celso I believe were very much his picks. Along with sess. Close to 150m total I believe. And can't say that's aged well. Maybe his a great coach and not a great builder. Most of poch success came with Mitchell supplimenting the recruitment.
Yeah, Poch was backed enough. Ndomble was his signing. That alone is worth a sacking.
Spurs will take points off the top three & will decide the title - that's how good Ange is
The fact they arent in europe while all their closest rivals are will benefit them. They got players back at the right time. Spurs can still spring a shock
If spurs win their game in hand they are only 8 points off the top of the league! It’s not that much
@@SavingSalvage4th would be a great achievement . The current top 3 will be the top 3 at the end of the season. Forget about top spot

Ange said we are in to win, he also has said 50 million or 100 million does not always get a great player. We have got really great players for very little out lay.
not sure why this wasnt mentioned. Maddison, Van der Ven and Johnson were all very good signings for the price tag - arguably if United had gone in for those three players they would be in a top 4 spot rn
Yes, but small teams find it hard to last against the top 4. Although you never know, might have another Leicester with spurs one day
@@HappyBob701Na, Utd would ruin these players. Toxic club

Mathewmcnerlin you cant compare spurs with leicester, utterly ridiculous
Levy was building a new stadium thr financial demands of which had to be prioritised.
how Jim gets work is a mystery to me he must have naughty pics of the bosses
Ange will have demands but they will never be unreasonable. When he went to Celtic, he was the only potential candidate who one of his first questions wasn't "how much have you got in the budget". Owner Dermott Desmond is on record as saying this.
Ange came from a system where $$$ were limited, he knows how to build a team without spending a billion
Spurs will potentially be the king makers this season....the results from the games against the top 3 could determine the eventual EPL winner.
Maybe Levy could arrange some kickbacks 😂
Ange will definitely spend. Squad building is pretty much his specialty.
He will but he will spend wisely ... unlike Chelsea and Man U recently
You can hear the frustration in their voices at Jim’s ridiculous comments and questions 😂

Yeah, he says this now after we beat Villa but before this game and before this season everyone wrote Spurs and Ange off and I told them all to wait and see.
Loving it.
A few more twists to come, nothing certain yet
After the champions league final spurs spent 140mil but the players they bought never worked out
We spent nothing in 2 windows mate
It’s annoying when they are so ill informed yet they are supposed to be experts. Spurs spent A LOT in the summer after the champions league final. It was the season before that they didn’t spend. Ndombele, lo celso, Sessegnon amongst others came in after the CL final
Indeed, Poche's problem was that getting into the CL Final disguised the fact that Spurs were really bad for that 2nd half of the season and carried that form into the next one.
@@crazybluechickengetting to the CL final was pure brilliance that wasn’t poch fault he got a team to a final that’s his job as a manager. Getting us to that final was his end because it meant the owners would have to spend big to back poch to kick on but as always levy sacked poch because it was cheaper for him
@@tropicalstorm123 I thought Poch was sacked because the Fan's want a "win now" manager
Villa will come back like we've done all season when set backs have come our way.
Spurs have the advantage with the game in hand and they deserved the win but massive praisr because villa have been a monster at home all season, best team to come to villa park this season by a mile.
The Newcastle loss was a boring a long ball side, spurs were different gravy yesterday.
But top 4 definitely not over yet.
Spurs did spend after the cl final. Brought in ndombele, sessegnon, rodon and lo celso It was before they got to the final they didn't spend in a couple of windows.
You can’t necessarily equate money with success. Look at Man U.
At the end of the day it depends on what your definition of "backing the manager" is. Whatever happened to Poch stays in the past but if we're talking about financial spending here, then obviously Tottenham are never going to outspend the likes of Man City but also do keep in mind and I know you're sick and tired of hearing it but Man City have 115 charges. So if we're using Man City as the benchmark here according to Jordan who believes that Tottenham will have to spend at least 150 to stay within the top 4 and more to potentially win the league, then no, Postecoglou will never get that level of backing from Daniel Levy.
But if you ask me do I think Levy will back Postecoglou then I think to a large degree my answer will be yes. Firstly, Postecoglou has mentioned it a couple of times now but he believes that unless you're bringing in a player like Bellingham or Mbappe, there isn't a huge difference in quality between a 40 mil player or a 80 mil player. Instead, he values personality and suitability of a player to his style of football which has been demonstrated by the likes of Maddison and VDV. Secondly, Postecoglou talked about how he wanted players in early before the Jan transfer window and Levy who would usually wait till the final hours of the Jan transfer window to bring in a player, brought in Werner and Dragusin within the first two weeks of Jan. That imo is a huge sign of his willingness to back the manager. Lastly, Postecoglou has shown that he can bring the best out of his players as long as they're willing to work hard for his philosophy. Richarlison, Bissouma and Porro are perfect examples, poor last season but have really improved this season, and they don't cost a 100 mil each. My point is, sure, dethroning City is not going to be an easy feat but if spending money is the quickest and easiest way to winning the league then Chelsea should be top of the league by now. You have to spend to compete with the likes of City but at the same time I don't agree with the sentiment "you have to match or best your oppositions' spending in order to beat them". I think as long as Postecoglou is given a decent sum to work with and he's able to get the kind of players he want preferably quick and early, that can be considered "backing the manager".
Yeah, it should be taken into account as well that Postecoglou has seemingly been given final say on the transfers as well. Obviously I’m sure Ange would want a Haaland or a Bellingham if a deal could be done. But Levy isn’t going to sign a player like a Pedro Neto or an Eze unless Ange has said “I’ll play him, he fits into my system”
Ange has also recently said that he’d rather get 2 50 million players than 1, 100 million players if his budget was 100 million, so I think his philosophy complements Levy’s philosophy really well.
Hmmmm, as an Ange follower, and newcomer Spurs follower, both your assessments look well thought out.
I know nothing about D. Levy, but suffice to say, Ange has walked out of coaching jobs when it was obvious that "management" had a different focus and agenda.
Not quite Spitting the Dummy, more like giving a kick in the (bare) shins.
@@davidharman3665 Ange is used to building a team, rather than buying a team like Conte etc
@schrodickerLee, EXCELLENT post mate 👏👏👍👍
When Spurs got to the CL final, they were just completing the new stadium and the coffers were empty; he has spent eevery season since!
but still less than all our rivals lol
There’s a misunderstanding here which is trotted out quite regularly by Simon etc in so far as Poch WAS backed following the CL Final- they signed NDombele, LoCelso, Sess etc.
It was the 3 windows prior in which Spurs failed to strengthen either at all or with proper quality, which meant that by the time they reached the CL final the squad was already in need of a massive overhaul / refresh which could not be achieved in one window
Brilliant chat lads 😊
For all those who follow Ange will know he does good business, that is, he doesn't go buying over the odds prices for players. Ange is more about bringing in players who will fit his game plan and want to be part of the team. He has no time for players who only think about themselves understanding it is a team that wins you things. You can already see Ange is strengthening the team by having multiple players for each position, granted he has a first and second choice. What has been proven is the second-string players are good enough to step up and fill the role if called upon. Just look at how Spurs performed when they had the suspensions and injuries. If Spurs should finish securing a CL spot, I'm sure Spurs will bring in a few players, but it won't be hundreds of millions. Ange will have already given Levy a wish list and negotiations will have already begun as Ange likes to get the business done quickly and not wait to the last minutes of the transfer window.
I’m starting to think that people like seeing spurs as average just because they haven’t won anything yet.
You telling me that a team that consistently troubling the best team in the world “ Man City “ is an average team that doesn’t think they can win the league ? 😂
Hi guys...Spurs is a team in rebuilding after what Mourinho n Conte have done. Ange has done pretty well till now with the players we got in the summer. Many r really young players in their early 20's. If we get top 4 end of the season im pretty sure Levy will back Ange with money for players. Dont forget we have not even spent the mone that we sold Kane last summer. So Spurs r really in a gd place at the moment. Spurs will be able to challenged for silverwares from next season onward.
The fact we got to the final a few years ago means anything is possible, neither spurs or liverpool were the best two teams that year yet they made the final.
What Postecoglou would have required in coming in, was simply final say on all incomings and outgoings... I highly doubt he would have agreed any minimum $$ budget allowed
Last week we were slated now we're favourites
These lot do my head in. Tottenham have been in champions league nearly every year in the last 10 years. Newcastle are newbies and have no experience of what is required to compete on all fronts. You cannot compare the 2 clubs
It’s not always spending big that lands you the players, we spent 60mil on Tanguy Ndombele and did we get a player no. It’s all about smart recruitment at the right time. We have done some excellent deals lately and need a few more additions to challenge at the top and manage the demands of all competitions.
Newcastle have gone twenty something years without European football. It will naturally take its toll, Spurs have been playing CL football and European football consistently for 20 years. They played CL football last year.
Hilarious comparing Spurs to a Newcastle side who only just back into Champions league, as if somehow Spurs can't cope.
financial focus under the last couple years of poch at Spurs was paying for and building the stadium... so I suppose that might be the biggest financial goal of that time
Ange ball recruitment equates to the philosophy of moneyball!
Core must of been hard coming to that conclusion after they beat the main rivals for that position 🤤 honestly what is our media these days

2019 we signed ndombele, locelso+++
got your timing wrong, the year spurs didn't spend was before the 18/19 season, the summer after the CL final they spent a lot of money on Lo Celso, Ndombele, Clark & Sessegnon. All of which have failed to deliver for various reasons.
From Simons response about the champions league and Poch shows he is a close friend to Levy lol
Simon Jordan next week: Aston Villa will FINISH in the TOP FOUR🙌
hes some man to go where the wind is blowing and proclaim it as an original take.
“To be able to beat Manchester City (for the title) you need to be in a position where economically you would be able to do it”
Even if this is a generalisation it feels overly pessimistic. Of course it’s unlikely to beat someone who has advantages over you, but I’d like to think that there is a possibility to outsmart someone tactically and through a process of building a highly motivated environment. Not that Pep in this instance is not good at that, but the overdog doesn’t always win. Leicester is the freak example to look at.
Stars have to align etc, sure - but I’d rather be slightly naively hopeful than decidedly pessimistic.
Comparing any team to City is ridiculous.
We all know the reason why they’re in the position they’re in today. It has something to do with the 115 FFP charges they’re facing.
Man United actually spends more than them.

Not first time this season Villa have been well beaten by rivals..still been in top 4 all season...game on now lets see what happens..Villa biggest problem is loss of McGinn for 3 games.
Villa biggest problem recently has been losing Boubacar Kamara, their structure has suffered a great deal. Saying that Spurs had better not count their chicken's just yet, as Villa have a habit of coming back.

As a Spurs fan, I think I’d rather finish 5th and maybe try to win Europa League. Build up slowly. As crazy as you may think it sounds, Ange plans on winning the league before his first contract expires. No need to rush things.
As a neutral fan that doesn't smart...
UCL gives you more money and more freedom around FFP
5'th will just constrain the budget
You not Arsenal who still made money even though out of the UCL for so long
I have had that thought too but that's not an Ange mentality and how he motivates the squad. Always play to win but I do get your concern. We wouldn't be Spurs fans without being nervy. It's part of the rollercoaster ride.
Completely understandable.
If Ange was in a title race this season, then anything less than another title race the next season would be an utter and abject failure.
A steady ascent will be much better.
Knowing Spurs' luck the other English teams this year will earn the Premiership a 5th place in the Champion's League, and Spurs will quailify anyway.
I hear you, because it manages expectations as well, but if we got into the UCL it makes recruitment negotiations 10x easier and that alone is worth it, as we're already shopping smarter these days without the clout of the biggest games to sell the project.
Getting into the top competition, whilst we're also being run well on the recruitment side, plus have a manager that is getting the best from the characters in the dressing room and aligning the whole club; that would be the holy trinity for our prospects in the second season.
spurs have to offload some players.Ndombele has to go off the wages bill so we can spend on other better players. Also we need to give some of our younger players a chance.
I'm shocked he hasn't said they will finish above Arsenal
Tottenham did spend after 2019 UCL. Broke transfer record twice and spent over £100 mil on Ndombele, Lo Celso, Jack Clarke and Sessegnon. Problem wasn’t lack of spend it was the recruitment strategy from Poch, Levy and Hitchen.
what happened to them!!
wow 100 mil spent in about five years lol
still at least we have a decent stadium now
Its still game on long way to go yet they will be more twists yet spurs have a bad month in april aswell playing lpool, city, gooners, ncastle ,and chelsea ,if they win all them games then they deserve top 4 villa rnt out of it thou
The summer after spurs got to the champions league final spurs broke their transfer record TWICE 😂 well done talksport
We have no excuses to not get it. We have had way less games than other sides around us. No Europe and dropped out of the cups quite early. Manager was heavily backed and came in with a while pre season. Top 10 was a given as a bare minimum. It’s getting boring people trying to find excuses for everything this season when it goes wrong. We are out of the sides in that top 4 battle the strongest overall, Man U aren’t focused enough to put a run together (if they prove me wrong fair play) and Villa should be focused on UECL and try to win it. Top 4 is basically ours to lose.
Villa game was the first decent result in a while, scoring goals and kept a clean sheet. A 9/10 game (first half wasn’t amazing from either side and against 10 men for a longish time hence it’s not a 10/10)
Well according to Ange, having way less games is a bad thing not a good thing
@@cxv6367 Why? We had a week to prepare for Villa, they played in Amsterdam on Thursday. We were much fresher which helped. Villa at their best/fresh and that’s a different game and we maybe draw.
They're talking about Pochettino not being supported financially after reaching that UCL final, which is tough to disagree with, but we're also making umpteen assumptions off the back of that and laying them all at Levy's feet. Yes, Poch wasn't supported, but it could've been for any number of reasons. 1 of the problems, for example, is it's all well and good saying you need to have a £100m player to fill in a specific squad position, but the more you're spending the more you're limiting your pool of potential players, and then you've got to convince them to leave, say, Real Madrid or wherever to come to Tottenham because we scraped our way to a UCL final in a year we were not that great in the league. THEN there's the fact that everyone seems to forget in that we were in the middle of building a £500m stadium, AFTER having already spent however many millions of pounds on a new training ground. Look how much Arsenal's stadium set them back, and they didn't spend anything like as much on it. I know Levy said it wouldn't effect transfers, but it MUST have effected transfers in respect to getting those £100m+ players Poch probably wanted. The board are probably thinking "we can still get 2 or 3 £30m players in" and Poch is probably thinking "I don't need any more £30m players, I need £80m+ minimum now to improve" but who knows. The point is, it isn't that simple. However, the other point is that, BECAUSE Levy didn't spend in 2019 or whenever it was Spurs are in a really strong financial position to spend now, with the financing for the stadium a little more secure with it actually making money now too, so if we DO find ourselves in a position again similar to 2019 I feel like Levy would be less concerned about supporting his manager. Levy gets a lot of stick but I do think that he is prepared to give the money for players the manager wants, but he isn't prepared to do it in a way which financially restricts the club. Fans will cry "we have the money' but Levy is the one looking at the books, not the fans, and he is the one with the financial knowledge.
The way they took about being Newcastle being inevitable is beyond a joke. They were fine before the Tonali ban. Wheels have come off since then, even with all the injuries. With him they’d still be in the champions league
Poch spent money the summer after the champions league final, they spent a lot of money on 2 attacking midfielders
Tottenham can still win the league or decide who will win the league
Fair Play rules has nothing to do with how Mr.Levy has spent money at Spurs during the past 23 years lol I bet if we could finish lower in the league and make more money he would try to sell it to the fans 😂

Maddison £40m Caicedo £115m. You can throw in a lot of other examples of good v bad spending and that's as importqant as volume of spend over time. For once Spurs seem to have a really good recruitment team (started with Paratici) and, combined with PSR limiting Chelsea, Newcastle etc things look very bright for Spurs.
Exactly , its how you spend, not what you spend
Spurs are the 2nd biggest sender in this year after Chelsea and yet the media keep that narrative about Levy and Spurs not spending.
What happened to Newcastle? Pope got hurt. Suddenly, they ship 45 goals in 20 matches. Is there any other plausible reason?
Thats not true they broke the transfer reocord after that CL final and also bought in lo celso on loan with option to buy.....they did not spend nothing. If you talk about my club at least get it right
Levy invites Simon to free lunches. Of course, Simon will say how amazing they are. From a millionaire to a beggar.
Pochettino was backed after the champions league final. Ndombele, lo celso and sessegnon. All 3 were signed in the summer of 2019 and all 3 were huge flops. There's 100-150m of spending that never worked out because they were crowbarred in to a depleted and weak squad
Also, who could have predicted the Delle Alli implosion.
Spurs made it to the final the same year they decided not to buy anyone for a year. Not after that final
We got a rat bag run in including away to Newcastle and Chelsea, plus the top 3.
Two comments: 1. Tottenham remain undefeated against the top three this season. 2. Tottenham also have yet to play the teams currently occupying the bottom four places. Hardly a “rat bag run”.
We have Burnley and Sheff Utd as the last 2 games which might come in handy. Hopefully we'll still be in contention for 4th by then
spurs do not need to spend 300 mil.signing 3 players in the summer that fit in and moving on 5 that do not, bring in 3 young players that they already have that would do for next season and the build on that
