Daniel Levy knew longer ago building a brand new stadium capable of hosting concerts, boxing, NFL games would be Tottenham’s way of competing against other big six rivals. Our fanbase has criticized our chairman, gave him a lot of stick when he chose not back our manager(s), but give him credit when it’s due. Because he has put our club well in now to invest and bringing new players this January when other clubs in the premier league can’t because of strict financial regulations.

He's done it all at the cost of the team! He didn't even use his own money, low interest loans in the clubs name. Kanes career was wasted here because the team rotted.
Daniel Levy knew 2 decades ago last millennium what was going to happen.
The game is about winning. Not spreadsheets, land and money.
Levy won't go out and invest in top players to win. Him and Lewis have always had the money. They talk like they're poor and needy. They are not.
All they are interested in is making top four on the smallest budget possible.. Milking that cash cow as they have done 22 years already.. Until they eventually sell for huge profits.
After two decades how can you not see that money has always been their priority.

Thank you someone with a brain in his head. Spurs have built themselves up from next to nothing they were in the early 2000s to actually challenge the financial clout of the others. Winning is hard and because the two best managers (Klopp and Pep have been in the league when we've started to have sides capable of challenging) there's only 3 or 4 trophies a year to win and spurs are putting themselves in a good position to always be able to step up should the time arise. The issue has been the footballing advice Levy's had not is inability to stick his hand in his pocket. And considering how much we've spent with Ange that can't really be said anymore

Hate him or love him you cannot deny Daniel Levy is a great business man. Turning the stadium to a concert/nfl/tour events made them make close to a billion a year. To even get Spurs in the "big 6" conversation is amazing considering what they had won. Everyone wanted him and the owners out but just 2 good appointments of DOF and Manager and thats brushed under the carpet. He does deserve more respect imo

I remember in the early 2000's when you could get tickets at WHL for the lesser games without too much hassle, that on a 35 - 40000 capacity. We talk a lot about players wages but Berbatov, Modric, Bale and Kane and Son seem to have about doubled the fanbase! Harry Redknapp gave them a title run and CL football when they had never had anything like that in modern times, in my view it was Redknapp that changed the mentality of Spurs, you look back and can see everything changed from when he took charge of the club.

I've got a lot of time for Daniel Levy to be fair. The issues have never been about his business, but the footballing decisions have really shown he's a bit limited.
Allowing the squad to stagnate from 18/19 was unacceptable. Re-entering the market was a car crash we are still feeling. Sacking Poch was reactionary short term-ism. The managers that followed were a culture shock to the club on and off the pitch.
To be fair to Levy and the club we seem to have recognised this, and done a full restructure. Scott Munn, Johan Lange and Ange seem to be excellent football minds, even the academy and scouting teams have even been restructured. This is a different club.
Levy deserves credit and criticism in equal measure IMO.

As I cast my mind back I am reminded of all those balance sheet, profit/loss and net spend trophies I never watched my side pick up along the way. Stamford Bridge doesn't have a really long bar, an underground NFL pitch or a cheese room. The nostalgia of all those shareholder meetings where Daniel Levy talked about dividends and fiscal prudence is something that I will never have. Instead I have to make do with PL titles, 2 CL wins, domestic cups...that 90s side with Zola, managed by Gullit/Vialli that won domestic/european cups...and all of those big finals and epic european nights. I know it all pales into insignificance when compared to financial statements...afterall...thats what being a fan is all about eh?

Unfortunately getting across the line in terms of trophies has been our Achilles Heel. And a conversation should be had about what trophies. Tottenham Hotspur should be challenging for. Winning the league cup simply isn’t as important as getting into the Champions League and unfortunately money has destroyed the glamour of the FA Cup. The truth is Tottenham aren’t good enough to win the league or the Champions League. So I’m not sure what trophies Tottenham should be winning because Top 4 is now the 3rd in terms of priorities

They are out of the all competitions, are not guaranteed 4th but somehow we have to pat them on the back and clap for them. ITS A FOOTBALL CLUB FFS. Levy has done an incredible job in elevating Tottenham PLC and creating one of the best stadiums in the world. He has created a solid long term platform for continued success.
Where one could and I did, criticise him, was for poor judgement in appointing some of his managers. However, despite some errors of judgement, he tried to rectify these failures by appointing top managers like Mourinho and Conte. Most clubs would bite your hands off to land, such highly rated managers. They were, after all, serial winners. So its not as though he wasn't trying to do the right thing although, some including me never thought Mourinho was a fit for Spurs. I would never have chosen him but when Conte came in Spurs fans were dancing in the street! He was as it transpired an even worse fit than Mourinho. He thought he was bigger than the club. Spurs was beneath a man with his CV. I think Mourinho had much the same outlook.
Spurs are lucky to have Levy and I am convinced his stewardship will reap huge and lasting returns in the not too distant future.
Be careful what you wish for Spurs fans. Many clubs would bite your hands off to have him at the helm of their clubs.
Stick with the plan. Its an excellent one.

  • @user-mi9mw5wm5w
    @user-mi9mw5wm5w 4 месяца назад

Clubs that have businessmen at the helm are either quietly successful or noisely disasterous.
Spurs haven't won trophies but their football is always great to watch, they have a very good and loyal fan base, they are financially very bouyant, and they now have arguably one of the best stadiums and player facilities in Europe. That's a combination just about every club in the premier league would want in their trophy cabinet.
The cost of winning trophies can be catastrophic for clubs financially: retaining that status even more expensive.
If the fans are interested in top quality football at a fanstatic venue then Spurs deliver. Trophies will come if it's meant to be, but if you go spending 300 million on players to chase a trophy the chances of you wiining are still slim.

Daniel Levy has over a number of years been working toward making Spurs financially able to compete more effectively in the transfer market with the apex predators. There have been errors along the way with managerial appointments and player recruitment and retention, recently he has recruited advisors who are currently playing a blinder in the transfer market, and Ange seems to have been a great choice for our club, it's made football fun again after the miserable fare served up by Nuno Mou and Conte. It's been a rollercoaster ride this season, and, against my expectations we're still in with a shout of a top 4 spot, Daniel Levy has put Spurs on the right track after several derailments, he needs to keep his nerve, hold on to Ange and make sensible recruitment choices for the medium to long term, we don't need the spectacular marquee signings we just need players made of the right stuff and leave the rest to Big Ange. It's taken a long time but Daniel Levy has upped his game and can get Spurs over the line.

I hate the narrative that the Bale money was wasted at spurs Eriksen and Lemela were great 👍 and the others weren’t awful. The media gets confused with its own lies 😂

Sorry guys, i look at the trophy count first & foremost. Not the financial turnover to admire a club.

Does this show the undying loyalty of the fans, or just how much 'Sport' is associated with Football?

It's both impressive and unimportant. But if they pour their riches into football, then it could be significant.

How did Spurs manage to buy a £1bn stadium upgrade without breaking FFP? Asking for Everton fans.

This time next year Arsenal will be the "biggest" team in London. It's not hard to predict, and as Jordan says shouldn't be judged on the strength of a clubs turnover. Tottenham has debts of over £800m, that can only hamper them in the transfer market unless they sell their best assets, they can't afford to do that every season without having suitable replacements.

I hate tottenham but they are doing it the right way. Building the stadium, trying to bring in young talented players etc. theyre still spurs at the end of the day but they seem healthy financially
