The Jailhouse Weld with Duane Peters

- Dickies caught up with the legendary punk rocker and skateboard pioneer Duane Peters in his hometown Costa Mesa in California, where he was kind enough to demonstrate how punk rockers used to make the traditional 874 pants into a slimmer cigarette pant, while in prison. The so-called Jailhouse Weld. According to Duane, theres nothing more important than punk rock. And skateboarding. So no matter where you might be spending your days and nights, you better make sure to get your lighter, toothbrush and 874s ready and follow these simple steps to get the authentic Costa Mesa punk rock wino look.
Huh? But they didn't show the final result of how it looks. What?
I've been custom fitting my Dickies since I got a sewing machine in 2004. They don't show the result because he did it wrong (for the method he was trying) for welding em he should've left em right side out. He probably just got confused.
+Tarp Kart I laughed when they didn't show the last bit to funny
Word same; i got me a 770 singer to do my zig zags, & a 5291 singer to do some heavy sewing
Glad to see some little homeboy still representing proper pants yo
It wouldn't surprise me that DP messed up again. He has been f_cking sht up for years...
Why are so many people in the comments section trying this at home? This dude is showing you what you do to state issued pants in prison. I'm sure there is a better way to taper your pants at home without burning a bloody toothbrush handle hahaha. I guess you gotta appreciate the effort.
Hey Dolle Reinart, that is why it is called a "jailhouse weld", because in jail one happens to be short of such comforts as needles, scissors and yes, sewing machines....
At the end of the day Duane Peters is adjusting his clothes with a lighter and a toothbrush and all of you are on your computers in you nice comfy houses with your 9-5 jobs telling him he doesn't understand life.
Cameron Rouse actually its 7-3 tyvm
and you are?..
You think I have a job lmao
This!! ^^ I was just thinking I'm unemployed fool!
I had to wear "DOC greens" when I was in. You don't get Dickies in any jail I know about.
i followed the instructions here. i also created a prison 'shank' by filing a toothbrush to a fine point so its like a blade, whilst taking a crafty 'bowel movement' in a bucket in the corner. then my mother entered my bedroom & asked me to tidy it 🤔😧😥
Hahahaha , that story !
this is how i would imagine the upbringing of anyone born in Los Santos
I hope you told her to eat your shorts like a true punker
I tried it out, and it did have a flag when you turn them inside out but wasn’t a problem all I did was trim it and it was all good, I’m happy with the end results
he should have lit the toothbrush off an electrical outlet and pencil lead like a real convict no bics in the pen lol
He should’ve just stuck a fork in an outlet
when i was younger i would waste my time doing shit like this, sewing up pant legs and cutting off and sewing up t shirts to make them tighter, now that im older, and have doubled in size, i just dont give a shit anymore, about this or anything else and i just wear my pants the way they come from the store. FTW 2016.
It's not that important. I agree.
@@chuy8356 yep, when metabolism ceases along with motivation, the tight fitting clothes get replaced with apparel that try to conceal how much of a lazy fatass you've become. So I've heard
Of course you feel this way being old, fat and lazy. When you look good you start caring what you can wear to look better. But it's impossible to look like much if you don't have anything to you. I realized this well after I gained over 100 pounds during my later 20's. Then about age 30-31 I was in a horrible relationship, working physical labor 50 hours a week on random 3rd shift schedules and also fucking with speed to even function. With a couple years I lost 110 pounds and was looking fit as hell! Haha all of a sudden I was pulling out old clothes I couldn't wear since I was 17. It felt good to look and feel good again. And my arms were all jacked. Loved the way I looked in cut off t-shirts. Now a year after losing my job and giving up on life, laying in bed for days I am fat and tired again. It's a bitch. Really not good to keep myself bouncing back and forth like that. But anyways it's bullshit to care what we look like but it also isn't. It's part of any living creature to want to portray themselves as fit and strong. So honestly giving up on it will get a person nowhere but unhealthy and miserable. Don't just give up.
I tried it. You get a shitty flap when your turn them inside out again. Then i figured i would just melt the flap down, but then i just thought this is a wait of time. I'll just go buy the slim tapered for 20 bucks
guess prisoners didn't have it that easy
@@youtumor360 lol he said that as if they had the option to buy that in prison
@@abelincoln5037 But only regular cut 874, I dont think prisioners used to have the option on , slim, slim loose, skinny back in the day, probably didnt even existed
THIS WAS FOR PEOPLE IN PRISON BRO
true bestie@@hangedups2608
You didn't even show him full on after the weld! :/
living legend
Dickies is real af for posting this
Break out the starch and iron, homie.
i ended up with narrower pants but a weird flap on each side so i think you should peg them differently like fold em over instead of in
I would think it's more punk rock to not give a shit what you look like in jail or anywhere else.
That's the dirty little secret of punk fashion. Punk is just another trend. Anti-trend is still a trend.
I think it's nearly impossible to be anti-trend right? Some trends are just more accepted than others, punk being pretty low on the scale of overall acceptance. Hence, the people looking to escape from the norm gravitate towards the underground, where they only feel the need to impress a small group of people, people that accept them. That coupled with the feeling that your doing something that kind of pisses off the majority feels kinda good in my opinion. I couldn't really agree that it's a secret either, since punk is obviously a fashion (it's the way they dress, fair and simple), and it must be pretty cool considering the amount of mainstream imitators that try to emulate that style.
lol, Punk is mainstream as fuck.
I still do this on the streets too.
haha why the fuck would you do this with your new pants
Prison...
+First Last or just punk rock
@hoodoovoodoo9 you melted through 2 toothbrushes and still couldn't figure this out?
Very helpful

I don't think they're supposed to be inside out and why the hell would a convict give a shit.
For real you are in there with a bunch of dudes.
Did they show him first steal the Dickies from work world?

Sad
Or even better learn to use a sewing machine and do em right.
the guy doesnt even do shit anymore? he's sober. hes chill ass dude sucks he had a drug addiction and was in rehab for awhile all that shit happened then his son dies... ya he's a horrible person-__- for having a shitty past and overcoming it
stfu kook go search "Duane Peters" on youtube. That guy is a legend
so, prison wives did this shit?
u.s. bombs
I've lost so much respect for Duane since he went full Trumpanzee back in like 2015. Not a punk at all anymore, kinda just a washed up peckerwood.
Love seeing all the modern "punks" that now suck the government and media's buttholes like they're gods who always know whats best for each individual.
Rage with the machine and get your shots!!!! 🤘
😂 😂 😂 if you support ANY political party or government tyranny, your not punk... your just a poser shilling for a political party that doesn't care about you or your freedom. Keep that in mind the next time you line up for experimental injections when Big daddy government tells you to.
Let me guess you support the radical left and their government butt sucking? 😂 🤡
Who's this wannabe dork?
You mean plastic melting lol
Dickies what are you supporting
