I do feel this issue suffers from the shortfalls of budget. They should of saved some of these gods for the later seasons, gave them the power Zeus has in his episode.
Eric's original characterization was that despite his power and penitent for violence he was "gentle, soft-spoken, and never lies", essentially cold as ice to represent the level of hate that festered inside him for eons. All that went out the window with the new writers that flanderized him into a manchild that makes smartass remarks every five minutes
Yes, Baldur is a joke to Lucifer. Heck, Baldur is a joke to Castiel, a regular angel. He's even a joke to Sam and Dean, they gank Pagans every few years.
It is actually a line of Machiavelli, I do not remember the exact wording of it, but Satan is always imagined as Machiavellian-- if you know, think, and perceive yourself to be the best, you seize your right by "cunning" and 'virtu' as Machiavelli calls it, which means Willpower and Talent. May sound wrong, but Satan, in someway defines the self made man...
It was a fun episode, and I don't think there's many active believers in Greek or Norse mythology, and the Haitian "god" Baren Samedi or Chinese kitchen god Zao Shen, no big, but there's a billion hinus in the world. Kali & Ganesh, while I loved them on screen and loved the episode, including them was pretty insulting.
@Evangeline Page Just out of curiosity, do some pagans actually worship Odin? I respect the Pagan approach and it's got a long history but - purely out of curiosity, does showing Odin getting stomped by Lucifer offend pagans? I know that many Hindus were offended by this episode. There are articles about it.
YTEdy I obviously can't speak for a whole religion, however I can say that personally I find it only a little offensive at most as I understand it's a T.V show and it doesn't represent truth. It didn't stop me loving supernatural or anything, but I can understand how people from multiple religions would be very offended, especially if they did not watch the show. :) hope his helped. For anyone frustrated/confused on how an archangel can stomp several gods, I think Redditor Muspel gave a pretty good and satisfying answer: "In the canon of the show, God (Lucifer's father) is creator of the universe. He's basically omnipotent, and while the archangels aren't anywhere near as strong as he is, they're still some of the most powerful beings out there. They don't rely on any external source of power. The pagan gods, on the other hand, relied on belief and sacrifices for their power. It's implied that they were actually created by human belief. As a result, while they may claim to have been involved in creation myths, they actually weren't, and they're nowhere near as strong as God or the Archangels, especially with how few worshipers they have nowadays. *TL;DR: God and the Archangels are primordial forces. The pagan gods are basically glorified tulpas. "*
Supernatural lore looks a lot like DC Vertigo lore. In there, all other gods other than the Abrahamic one are created by human beliefs. The creator on other hand has true power and he granted the archangels rule over the creation, so nothing can oppose them except another archangel or God himself.
"God and the Archangels are primordial forces" So what would happen when Archangels encounter primordial pagan gods like Gaia, Uranus, Tartarus, Nyx, & Erebus? & God encountering Chaos?

I love how they mock and talked down about chuck so much but they have no sense of scale. Maybe they can fight an angel, but can do nothing to one of the four archangels, let alone the next step up. I think the only reason they’re so prideful is they never had a direct confrontation with the most powerful members of the angels. I mean look how confident they were charging at Lucifer, they fully expected to actually be able to fight, like they’d at least be on equal footing. You can see from the looks on their faces in their last moments that they’re only just finding out how powerful he really is. They seem to just assume God and the archangels are as powerful as they are and blame their decline in worship for any gap in power. They just seem to be unable to accept that something exists that can dwarf their power. I mean they were worshipped as gods, for a time they were at the top of the worlds power scale, and now have to settle for just being near the top. Lucifer was right, they are prideful, and it means they can’t accurately assess their enemies anymore
I miss this version of Lucifer. The last two seasons he's become a downer to sit through. A total drama queen now. I just can't take him seriously anymore.
Its so depressing to know Lucifer will never be written or showcased like this again. Dude has been made into such a colossal joke by season 13. This show should have ended with this season, it would have went out while it was still on top
+Kevin Zhang I mean they did fear him when he was the trickster (they talked about how they never saw anything that powerful), then they realised he was more lover than fighter. Then the writing staff really tore Gabriel down
Kali should have been level of Amara since shes the personification of shiva destroyer of universe. Ganesh should be as strong if not stronger than michael at his prime with brains. They made them both dirty.
@@aranha6285 Neither are they weak. Kali would have mop the floor with Amara if she was as per the lore. Ganesh would have easily made lucifer kill himself with his own hands since he is god of wits .
@@Sid-bd5pt Kali wouldn’t even beat Hel or Hades. Amara is the primordial Void from before Creation. Kali is only the Goddess of Death and destruction of one planet while Amara represents the Void from before the Creation of ANY Universe. And God is even stronger than her
@@aranha6285 dude. Kali is the personification of shiva destroyer . Shiva who have destroyed many universes since beginning. Check the lore. Greek primordials would be turned to dust.
If I had to fight an arch angel, The God of war from Aztec mythology, the Dragon Creator of the world since Dragons are immune to most things except a sword made from their blood, I think the Goddess and a Dragon means She might match him physically if thats even possible, (Basically a stronger Leviathan maybe better then Dick and his right hand soldier) and ofcourse I would add Hades, along with maybe an Alpha monster or 2 to gang up on him.
In the shows mythology God created the Arch Angels to help him with banishing his sister (Amara) . I think this event takes place LONG before he created Earth and the Pagan Gods and Goddesses. I also think God created the Pagan gods/goddesses to give humans someone to prey to. Thus the arch angels are more powerful than the Pagan gods and goddesses.
@Canatotaur They can't go before the Leviathans though, as Death said the Leviathans were the first beasts created by God, his warm-up run sort of. So it'd rather go Archangels, Leviathans, Angels, Pagan "Gods" (if he even created them) and at some point Eve was created who then birthed the Alphas (if you remember that whole plotpoint with that new kind of worm monster she created to take out the Winchesters. And the Jefferson Starships :D )
@@mrreyes5004 This is exactly why she said that. This retarded comment. Ps: They had to nerf Kali and Ganesha a shit ton. If we talking mythology here, Kali can snap Lucifer out of existence
@Diego Saucedo JR Well, the whole tv show is fucking fiction. Also you stupid, if you consider Hinduism fake then Christianity is 10x faker than that lmfao, gtfo. If you compare Kali and Lucifer, Kali is 10x stronger than Lucifer, get your facts straight.
Finally, I thought I was the only one who saw The Joker in this acting… It´s like he is impersonating Heath ledger´s Joker, didn´t see Nicholson´s, tho.
The point of the character is that he literally cannot die unless he is killed with Mistletoe. Doesn't matter if he has divine power, doesn't matter if he's been alive since the dawn of time, Lucifer ain't killing the guy until he gets some Mistletoe fingernails.
So Sam was the true vessel and had to drink gallons of demon blood just to be suitable to hold Lucifer, but Nick in the last few seasons is just fine and dandy containing Lucifer with no deterioration
Lol the way Lucifer took them out within a minute is really satisfying, considering they ate people, they 'killed' Gabriel even though he tried to help them, and they bragged that they were the best and could beat Lucifer.
They wrote the whole thing wrong. Odin's power rests in the primordial magic he obtained. His power isn't reliant on belief. He essentially draws power from the universe. His power should have scaled to match or exceed Lucifer.
@@EpochUnlocked yeah true, best guess for why they did this was because they filmed in a Christian country so likely didn’t want to show Pagan deities holding their own against a Christian figure, even if it’s the Devil.
No, the writers just made him doing that, but, let's ne honest, while pissing on potential Legendary characters and arcs, on mythologies and culture way deeper than they settle with their series they make a deeper mistake in term of writing. Who are those guys ? They just came in, aside from There name, we don't see what they really are, we don't Know what they do, so, in a simple way, we can assume they are just random guys that présume to be gods. From the other side, in the way we don't Know them, WE somewhat don't Care about them (and if WE don't Care about characters, then, the writers have failed). In a nutshell, here we have the devil killing a bunch of random guys with no clue they Can even face him outside of their names. He isn't even challenged because we don't Know they have powers. The writers have failed. Si the character IS failed.
I guess in this show the gods are just really powerful entities created by the actual GOD, but they took advantage of the weakness of humans and made them worship them in exchange for their help. The angels however are from a different plane of existence they are more powerful than the gods. It goes humans
SonicRulez no....Holly water maybe....but he is an angel after all....so only thing maybe it'll be an angel blade, or the Holly fire they used in Gabriel. that most likely....or leviathan could perhaps kill Lucifer.
She is kali in hindu Mythology She has the unlimited Destructive potency of God of Hinduism and has actually universe level feats in the scriptures vs barely country level of the devil in the bible In all honesty, were this not a Christian show, she would swat him like a fly
My disappointment with this episode was Hindu gods depicted are all strict vegetarians. Seeing them gorging on meat earlier in the episode is a misrepresentation. And yes they do have other powers and divine weapons which could have made this episode even more entertaining.
The meat eating part was worse but made sense in the show’s lore, the meat wasn’t just meat but human bodies but it explained that in the show they were ideas of humans who chuck(God) made real to take the blame for his failures and because their legends are cool stories but eventually his Ego couldn’t handle it so he step in, the reason they eat people is because while chuck made them real their power came from human faith and sacrifices but all doesn’t receive so to continue their power and existence they eat humans. Yeah it miss up but so was everything in the eariler supernatural seasons as it was a horror show back then. Though I argue with the power thing, even with being not real gods in the show they could have aleast show what was in their myths(within their budget of course)
Meanwhile the SW Lucifer can get his ass handed to him by just a simple fist fight against a demon. Are you telling me that they don't have enough budget to even give him a little bit of supernatural powers like, snaping a finger and making someone disappear? SW Lucifer is 99% cop show and 1% supernatural talks. Him and Micheal could find or end anyone in an instant, yet they don't even have basic powers.
Count Vertigo12 SW Lucifer isn't something known from Fox Lucifer. Literally nothing about him has SW related to him so I'm confused. But he's Right Fox Lucifer was getting his ass beat by Maze in season 2 and they were evenly matched. In season 1 him and Amenadiel were going straight it but I'm pretty sure Lucifer was winning but in season 2 Uriel kicked all 3 of there asses. In season 3 in a flashback episode Lucifer and Amenadiel had a fight in a ring and Amenadiel was winning but threw the fight
I know that Lucifer is the main antagonist, but I thought this was kinda badass. That's what makes a good antagonist peoples, MAKING HIM LIKEABLE. At least in my experience and opinion
What would’ve made this scene even better is if after Baldur asks “You think you own the planet”, and then Lucifer, in a mocking sing-song voice, starts singing, “This is my father’s world”.
If you ask someone who is not Christian then they would say The Christian God doesn't stand a chance against their God let alone his Lackey's like Satan. Because it's just a matter of personal bais nothing else.
@@aviniciussouza100 I just wish they didn't make Lucifer so "clown" like, acting silly and all in the later seasons. I get his sarcasm and such, but I wish he remained just as brutal as he was here. Doing everything in his power to piss off his father even more and wreck havoc.
Should’ve given Ganesh more chances though, given that he’s part or the Hindu pantheons which is still worshipped to this day. I mean come on, he’s half man half ELEPHANT! No wonder some Hindu people were reasonably offended.

I miss this version of Lucifer. The last two seasons he's become a downer to sit through. A total drama queen now. I just can't take him seriously anymore.
Albedo Yuriev he should regain all his power and just fuck over everyone last minute like killing Mary or something lmao
Well, he did become a father
Best Lucifer scene in the entire show. Really shows just dark Lucifer is he's not somebody you can mess with lol
If only we had Gorr the God Butcher do this during the Greek Gods scene, in Love And Thunder.
Its so depressing to know Lucifer will never be written or showcased like this again. Dude has been made into such a colossal joke by season 13. This show should have ended with this season, it would have went out while it was still on top
he was a dominant badass who was so confident he was going to win now he a joke
He's back baby!
2Good2BeTrue45 I wish they would have just ended on the fifth season. That would have been nice to end it with a bang.
2:06 is both a badass line and so true about humanity and its evil
Yes totally the average person is so evil, I guess we can equate a deli owner to the status of Satan then?
*tries to attack the Devil with fire* Lol, clever woman.
I know right

Ask the writer 😑😑
@Vladimir Putin that’s bullshit
Kali wasn’t being very bright.
I don't know why people think Dean doesn't fear Lucifer look at 1:54 thats fear in his and sam\s eyes.
Minato D Roger I don't think he fears him anymore . After all he's been threw Lucifer is just old news to him
I get what your saying but that would be stupid to not fear a fully powered Lucifer
He's not really fully power anymore either 😂
I think to an extent they even fear Gabriel in a way
+Kevin Zhang I mean they did fear him when he was the trickster (they talked about how they never saw anything that powerful), then they realised he was more lover than fighter. Then the writing staff really tore Gabriel down
But remember years from now Dean kills Zeus.
Zeus wasn't at the meeting and he was killed by Prometheus, not Dean.
Sam Geurdi no h didn't
And Sam kills Thor. With his own hamer.
Thor hasn't appeared on the show.
samlio325 He didn't kill Thor. Mjolnir was just being auctioned.
Kratos could learn a thing or two from Lucifer... you know, when it comes to dealing with Baldur....
rkmugen to be fair most of these fuckers weren’t even able to use their powers
Kratos in spn would be veeery interesting
Baldur from God of War would destroy Lucifer with just his fart, lol.

One of the best scenes form the show.
Villains are always so much more funnier than hero’s.
Kali should have been level of Amara since shes the personification of shiva destroyer of universe. Ganesh should be as strong if not stronger than michael at his prime with brains. They made them both dirty.
Nope. They’re still some weak false Gods. Nothing compared to the Creator and his Heralds
@@aranha6285 Neither are they weak. Kali would have mop the floor with Amara if she was as per the lore. Ganesh would have easily made lucifer kill himself with his own hands since he is god of wits .

😂😂
"Archangels are fierce, there absolute. There Heavens most terrifying weapon."
@@WaylonMoone they’d still get whooped
Sam, Dean. Good to see you again😌
1:23 damn this scene scared the shit out of me back as a kid
In the shows mythology God created the Arch Angels to help him with banishing his sister (Amara) . I think this event takes place LONG
before he created Earth and the Pagan Gods and Goddesses. I also think God created the Pagan gods/goddesses to give humans someone to prey to. Thus the arch angels are more powerful than the Pagan gods and
goddesses.
People go to Fortuna explain the Pagans Gods!!!!

When Lucifer kills Ganesh, you can vaguely hear an Elephant screaming. It was a nice touch I thought.

In this scene he really reminds me of the Joker. Both Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson's version.
Finally, I thought I was the only one who saw The Joker in this acting… It´s like he is impersonating Heath ledger´s Joker, didn´t see Nicholson´s, tho.
Azazel reminded me of Nicholson. Lucifer is more Ledger
Baldur? Huh . . . so much for being immune to all damage physical and magical.
His invulnerability is invalid against a freaking ARCHANGEL who existed before the universe lol
after reading your comment, i was like damn, time to play God of War (2018) again.
Divine power is different to Magical and Physical damage. Lest not forget Lucifer was one of the strongest Archangels.
It's because he's basically the cage for Lucifer. Crowley explained it all when Lucifer got put back into Nick.
Why is Odin sitting at the end of the table and Balder sitting at the head?
Because Balder helped set up the meeting
Because according to the lore Balder is the only God who will survive Ragnarok and he will take odin's place
@@BrianSmith-jx7td how does that work? Ragnarok begins with Balder's death

Lol the way Lucifer took them out within a minute is really satisfying, considering they ate people, they 'killed' Gabriel even though he tried to help them, and they bragged that they were the best and could beat Lucifer.

Led Floyd except Odin would kick satans ass

@ Not even his real daughter outside the movies.
I know they did this to showcase Lucifer's powers, but I always felt like Odin should have been able to stand up to him, or at least survive him
They wrote the whole thing wrong.

Juan Catalan Honestly, both piss me off in equal measure.

I have yet to meet anyone else who was.
Juan Catalan if you believe pagan gods are any realer than The Christian God then youbare just plain stupid.
For me, this is the best scene in the entire series
Did he just curb stomp a bunch of Gods? XD
Yes. Yes he did. And he was a straight up savage while doing it
No, the writers just made him doing that, but, let's ne honest, while pissing on potential Legendary characters and arcs, on mythologies and culture way deeper than they settle with their series they make a deeper mistake in term of writing.
The fucking I love Lucy reference 😂 “Lucy! I home!”
I guess in this show the gods are just really powerful entities created by the actual GOD, but they took advantage of the weakness of humans and made them worship them in exchange for their help. The angels however are from a different plane of existence they are more powerful than the gods. It goes humans
I think the Demon's would be stronger than the God's tho
Tiny mistake. It's like this, humans
I think some "gods" nearly killed Castle.

Badass Lucifer. I just love this guy.
Funny how everyone runs from Lucy but Gabe is the only archangel who stand up to his brothers 😂😂😂

You mean Sam Winchester Lucifer?
Darknal 627 probably referring to the FOX version.
Knight Rider idk who SW Lucifer is. I thought he was referring to the Ellis version who as you said loses every fight lol.
Welllllll... Lucifer, aka Satan, is "the god of this world" so he kinda does own the planet I suppose
Lucifer in this show is badass compared his real life insignificant self. And he would Reck his real life insignificant selfs ass.

Should’ve given Ganesh more chances though, given that he’s part or the Hindu pantheons which is still worshipped to this day. I mean come on, he’s half man half ELEPHANT! No wonder some Hindu people were reasonably offended.
Julian Prasaja Pagans were offended as well. Just a bunch of Christian brainwashing.
