- Iman Vellani and Rish Shah join BBC Radio 1's film critic Ali Plumb for Marvel's latest superhero TV show, Ms. Marvel. Iman outs herself as a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, just like her character Kamala Khan, and confesses that she definitely stole things from AvengerCon. I loved that the creator of the comics also said she is the embodiment of what Kamala Khan was supposed to be. It always takes me back to Taika Waititi saying when cast a kid, they always look for a personality as close to the written character as possible, so they only have to remember lines. She is quite literally made for this role

Honestly, I’m really happy to see another British Asian actor make it. We’ve only really had Ruiz Ahmed and Dev Patel make it and that’s the last generation. Rish being part of a new generation is something I’m very behind.

As a South Asian Muslim girl who also happens to be the biggest MCU geek, I am living for Iman Vellani and her big geek energy. She is not only representing all of us, she's living our dream. I’m literally the male version of her (I am a total nerd and geek…luv the MCU and dc and Star Wars, and transformers etc…) and I love to draw just like her, and I also have attention problems in school, my head is always in the clouds, and the way she sees the world is how I see it..like I imagine things all around me just like her, like my entire life during long car rides I look out the window and imagine my fav characters flying or swinging around beside the car in the sky… and I’m also the same age 🤯 !…also my mom grew up in Jersey City and a lot of my family lives in Jersey City, I’ve been visiting Jersey City ever since I was born, I was actually born in Jersey City! also keep up the good work Iman Vellani! @@Melko_277 bro don't talk about things you don't know. Iman and Kamala both are Muslims. As far as Ismaili belief, it's a branch of Muslim faith known as Shia. I'm not sure if Iman is Shia or Sunni but either way she is Muslim. And in no branch or in anything in Islam 'Man is god' type of faith exist. So don't try to spread misinformation unless you know things.

Professor Plumb should totally be MCU canon. He’s the character who debriefs the superheroes after every event and packages selected bits of them for public propaganda purposes. And Spider-Man & Ms Marvel are huge fans. Ironman liked him, Fury did not enjoy it.
And there’s at least one episode where the villains kidnap him because they want him to interview them.
Rish Shah is so incredibly handsome what the heck. I absolutely love Iman's energy and I love her portrayal of Kamala. In one episode, she quickly rose to ranks of one of my favorite MCU characters. I haven't loved a character this much since Peter Parker.

3:06 "What are they gonna do, fire me?" I've always wonder why studios are so protective of their props. I mean, I'll understand if that was about Thor's hammer of Iron Man helmets, but they usually don't let ANYTHING get "lost". Even the smallest ones are kept away from the actors hands after shooting.
The reason is due to continuity between scenes especially if they wrap a scene in principle photography and then have to go back months later for pick up shots now that the directors have started piecing it together with a editor and realise something is missing in the scene.
@@collaborativekiwistudios1191 That makes sense but for example during The Lord of The Rings many fake ears and Hobbit feets were rendered useless after shooting yet the actors said those were promptly taken before they could become souvenirs. In that case there was not chance to use them again and still they were guarded... Although, now I remember Peter Jackson said he was afraid it could create a Hobbit feet black market of sorts.
I guess a good reason is to avoid speculation and to protect the public from those practices that ultimately could sink their wallets (so basically the opposite of NFTs, that create speculation out of nothing).
I like the fact that Rish also knows Iman has to let it out all this energy. Love her so much, being a muslim, pakistani and a marvel super fan, it just everything all of us fans wanted to be a part of.

I hope one day to see maybe more Asian superheroes such as Vietnamese, Filipino, etc. I know there’s Shang Chi but I really wanna see more southeast asian countries. You see plenty of interviews where the interviewer is a fan of the superhero actor. Often, they're interviews Ali's doing. It is rarer to watch an interview where the actor is a fan of the interviewer. But really, Ali is the best at these interviews by such a long way, so it's not that surprising, really.
But just generally, Iman's awesome and adorable. If there are more big group cast quizzes on the MCU, we might have a new champ-to-be.

Marvel is so good at casting. She practically is the character.
A big part of the comic book it Kamala trying to navigate between her parents' culture and American culture. I think that part of it appeals to second generation folks in general, including me (my mother is Japanese). Anyone who is a child of immigrants (or even one immigrant) can appreciate the story.
Given that the writers and artists of the Silver and especially Golden ages were mostly the sons of immigrants, I have to imagine that they would also have liked the story.
