Not since the days of Iron Man 1 was I so enamored with an actor absolutely embodying their character in a Marvel movie. Holy crap this kid's got talent.

She definitely speaks in the interview to something I’ve seen myself in the show; at its heart the show is about finding inspiration in fandom. In an age where online fan culture can be so toxic and drive people away, Ms. Marvel shows what being inspired to be a good person can be. The line from Bruno in the first episode truly sums her up, if she wanted to save the world, she would save the world, she didn’t need super powers to be a good person. Superheroes are a power fantasy, and Ms. Marvel’s fantasy was to have the power to help. Iman Vellani captures that perfectly, and I think that’s why both her and the character she plays are so relatable. [Edit: I should have said “so relatable to me as a middle-aged white guy”, of course other people will find them both relatable in different ways.] Keep up the great work!
Wow Iman Vellani is absolutely incredible. The show is outstanding and so much joy to watch. What a joy to watch and hear her talk. She is a super star in the making and the future of our MCU! Thank you for this interview....
I was raised Catholic and I liked how Daredevil portrayed religion as just a part of his life. I'm glad they found that same balance with Ms. Marvel. I think it turns most people off (myself included) when a movie or show feels like a religious lecture or indoctrination.
When I tell you I do not care about Marvel movies or Comics or anything I mean it. But listening to her be so genuinely excited about the universe makes me want to know more. She's not only great for the role but she's also great as an ambassador. ✌
I watched 3 episode and its actually real interesting series. About Iman, She is confident, eloquent, lively, and perfect casting. As a Pakistani i am very happy that they represented Muslim and Pakistani in Marvel sort of huge brand in such a positive way after a long time.
I live right across the street of her high school. It's the art school in Markham, (I applied for music and didn't get in :( ) and right across the street, is a popular comic book store.....so I'm not surprised she's such a great well spoken actor and a comic book nerd.
Wow I was crying by the end of this video. You truly are a wonderful man Tom. God has blessed Canada by both having such an intelligent sensitive interviewer and sharp lovable burgeoning actress to call our own. And they don’t even look alike! What a wonderful time to be alive.
I'm not a girl or a Muslim. But I still felt represented, even as a man in his 30s. I grew up as half white half Colombian and felt torn between two cultures. How to balance the two. Never did. But I could relate to that and I enjoyed it.

Well I read comics but literally only Spider-man related comics I've read every superhero comics but only issue 1 except Ms. Marvel amd Spider-man I read every comics of them.
My experience with Sunni Islam meant I had to be always covered, call God Allah SWT always, and not look men in the eyes, and a bunch of baggage. The type of Islam practiced in the show, I could live with.
Are you a revert or something ? Actual Islam is hard to follow no doubt, but majority of Pakistanis at least do as much she they can. Something is always better than nothing. If you are a revert, just try and it will be more than enough.
Her story of getting the role sounds a lot like the way teenagers are treated in the Marvel universe, as well. Like she's got school, she's got things on her mind, and the big powerful grown-ups text her about some super-important (to them) thing, and she's like, "I have math." "I'm with my friends." "I have teenager stuff to worry about, as well as being excited about this really fantastic opportunity." It's like Tony Stark contacting Peter Parker. "I don't have time to save the world / respond to a casting call right now, I'm in geometry class, dude!" While at the same time, "I don't have time for geometry class, I've got to save the world / respond to a casting call!" Very relatable, how fantasy and real life echo each other like that. Also, "I'm just some normal teenager, with normal teenager stuff to worry about, but now all of a sudden I've been handed this tremendous opportunity to do some truly amazing things, which also happen to bear a very real responsibility to do good in the world, to represent my under-represented culture in the public eye in a positive way. That's a lot to put on a teenager's shoulders, but I'm up for taking on that responsibility, while also reveling in the amazingness of the experience." Very applicable to being Ms. Marvel, as well as playing Ms. Marvel. The writing of the show did a great job of portraying that, as did her acting.
The interviewer was weirdly agro but maybe Iman’s charisma just puts him in her shadow. Good for her for commanding the conversation and not getting pulled in by the interviewer.

But the key thing is...would your talent be good enough for people and fans to see you??? Well let me tell you Iman Vellani is the present and the future!!
I think it was more expressing surprise that someone without the acting background was coming across so naturally in the role.
